Nick opens the show with a heartfelt tribute to Ryne Sandberg, honoring the legacy of the Hall of Famer and longtime Cubs icon, who passed away earlier this week. Sandberg's impact on Chicago baseball is remembered with affection and admiration. Then, Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy return to break down this week's movie releases. They dive into the psychological horror film Together, the new reboot of The Naked Gun starring Liam Neeson, and the sequel to the animated satire The Bad Guys 2, weighing in on whether these films live up to the originals or crash and burn. Later, Esmeralda Leon joins Nick to talk about the recent wave of celebrity deaths, including Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Hulk Hogan, and Ozzy Osbourne. While the losses are somber, they quickly shift gears into a much lighter mood, sharing excitement and plans for their upcoming appearances at Flashback Weekend, where horror, nostalgia, and mayhem await. Episode 25:31 A Tribute to A Really Good Man Last week was “one of those weeks” for the entertainment industry. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan and Chuck Mangione all passed away. And while their deaths received a lot of attention… and deservedly so… there was another man who passed away last week. A man who wasn't famous. A man who wasn't wealthy… at least not by the world's standards. A man who had a tremendous impact on my life. A man who let his actions speak for him. Actions that displayed: 1) His love of God. 2) His love of Church. 3) His love of Family. A man by the name of Cameron Anderson. On this episode I pay tribute to Cameron “Brother” Anderson. Specifically, I share three stories involving Brother Anderson that inspire me to be better. To be more like him. If you like GOOD stories about GOOD people… you'll like this episode. You'll also want to share it with your family and friends

What'cha gonna do, Slackers!?Another icon of Gen X's childhood has passed away. This time "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan. While Hogan's passing has garnered plenty of social media attention, I would rather focus much of the podcast on his wrestling career.Like many, Hogan was THE superstar that made kids become wrestling fans. Hulkster cartoons, toys, and WrestleMania pay-per-views were all in high demand in the 1980's. He was the 'Real American" and the top draw of his era. After a decade "on top' as the ultimate baby face, he stunned the world again by becoming the top heel in WCW as part of the NWO.If you were a wrestling fan, Hogan bridged the gap between our childhood hero worship and our cynical young adulthood by becoming the bad guy. Same guy, two entirely different styles. It was an amazing time for the wrestling business. While I don't shy away from his personal failures, I think that his persona onscreen and the man he may or may not have been offscreen can and should be separated. Not to be forgotten, Malcolm Jamal Warner, one of ours, and by all accounts a stand up guy, tragically lost his life in an accident in Costa Rica, will also be remembered this week. I have a story from High School in which "Theo" played a primary part.
What if the next headline you read could save a life? This week, we're taking a closer look at the heartbreaking loss of Malcolm-Jamal Warner, an actor so many of us grew up watching. His tragic drowning has put rip current dangers back in the spotlight. Why talking openly about these tragedies isn't just respectful, it's essential. Then, we'll turn to the world of pro wrestling and the official reports on Hulk Hogan's death at 71. Plus, we'll have a candid conversation and revisit chef Anne Burrell's tragic story and what it teaches us about depression behind the scenes.Let's talk about what artificial sweeteners REALLY do to our bodies. And then we're stepping into the science: is 7,000 steps really enough? This podcast is intended to be informational only. It is not a medical consultation, nor is it personalized medical advice. In this powerful solo episode of the Growth Now Movement, I (Justin Schenck) sit down with YOU to talk about something deeply personal and often overlooked: legacy. Inspired by the recent passings of cultural icons like Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Ozzy Osbourne, and Hulk Hogan, I share my thoughts on what it truly means to leave a lasting impact. These legends lived boldly, made mistakes, and still left behind a legacy that touched millions. And that's what this conversation is all about—understanding that our imperfections don't define us; they shape us. Justin opens up about: Why your legacy starts with how you show up today The importance of being present with your loved ones How to turn personal setbacks into a springboard for growth Why you don't need to have it all figured out to start building your legacy A heads-up on his upcoming break in August (and why revisiting past episodes could be exactly what you need) This is a reminder to live life on purpose, embrace the lessons in the missteps, and keep showing up as your most authentic self. Whether you're a creator, entrepreneur, parent, or just someone seeking more depth and meaning in your journey, this episode will hit home. What will your legacy be?

Send us a textWe were supposed to be in Indy this weekend… but thanks to flight delays, we're grounded at home and extra salty about it. We kick things off with our very honest review of Happy Gilmore 2 (spoiler: it's not good) before diving into the massive $1.5 billion South Park deal and paying our respects to the legends we lost this week—Malcolm Jamal Warner, Chuck Mangione, Hulk Hogan, and Ozzy Osbourne. On the sports front, NFL training camps are underway, Jerry Jones is already turning Cowboys camp into his annual circus, and the league is cracking down hard—fining over 100 players for selling Super Bowl tickets above face value. We also check in on the Texas Rangers' latest struggles before rounding things out with some lighter (and weirder) headlines: A couple was caught… uh… “joining the Mile High Club” mid-flight and some more fun out there on the dating apps with people going psycho. ✦ What's the unlikeliest place you can think of to start a podcast? Well, back in 2016, the creatives behind the hit podcast Ear Hustle launched their show from inside California's San Quentin State Prison. Their goal? To tell first-hand true stories of life during and after incarceration. The show is co-hosted by Earlonne Woods, who spent over 20 years in prison, and Nigel Poor, who first came to San Quentin as a photography instructor. The duo will be hosting a live taping of "Ear Hustle" at Terminal West on August 5, and they recently sat down with City Lights Collective co-host Kim Drobes to discuss what's in store. ✦ The Atlanta spoken word community is going through an extremely tough time. Actor, musician, spoken word poet, and brother to all, Malcolm Jamal Warner, suddenly and tragically passed away last week. To honor and celebrate his life, his art, and his legacy, a collection of some of the best poets in the nation, including Grammy award winner J Ivy, Tony award winner GA Me, Theresa Tha Songbird, Abyss, Queen Sheba, and many others are performing at City Winery tomorrow. Only this time, maybe you've got a beer in hand. The Atlanta Cornhole and Bocce League is all about bringing that playful energy to a local pub near you. WABE arts reporter Summer Evans shares more on how these outdoor games are turning weeknights into something worth showing up for. ✦ The Pan African Festival returns on August 16 with the theme of Liberation Rising: Remember, Resist, Rejoice. Created by the Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights, this is the festival's 5th year, and the event promises to bring music, food, dance, and discussion to the heart of Decatur. The Alliance's co-chair is Fonta High, and when City Lights Collective member Katina Pappas-DeLuca recently caught up with her, the leader began by explaining the organization's history and mission. ✦ Could the key to advancing AI, educating under-resourced youth, and even healing the divisions of our country lie in hip hop? Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On this episode, No Brakes Nu and Jacq pay tribute to the late, great Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who tragically passed in a drowning accident in Costa Rica. Nu opens up about his own near-death experience on a capsized boat during his recent trip—and the blessing of surviving when someone so impactful didn't. The crew reflects on Warner's legacy as a good man, a quiet cultural icon, and why real ones deserve to be mourned loudly, publicly, and with love. Then the convo shifts to the opposite—figures like Hulk Hogan and Neon, who used their platforms to demean Black people and now seek sympathy or silence. Nu keeps it real: if you were a piece of shit in life, don't expect sainthood in death. Just because you shaped a childhood doesn't mean you get a pass. Racism doesn't come with a redemption tour over time—we don't mourn you the same, and we don't forget.Jacq also breaks down the controversial “T-App,” a platform where women anonymously share dating info on men. We call out the corny, the lazy, and the dangerous, and talk accountability on all sides. Plus: heat check on the latest fire music from Chris Brown, Benny the Butcher, and Alfredo 2 by Alchemist x Freddie Gibbs—heavy contenders for album of the year. It's a full-circle conversation on who we honor, who we hold accountable, and who we just keep it movin' on from. Real talk. Real mourning. Real music. Real kickback.#Kickbackers, tap in. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

In the fifty-ninth episode of Making Mt. Rushmore, host/moderator Steve Riddle welcomes Steve Bennett and James Gruenberg to discuss which Sports Moments deserve a place on their respective lists. Is the Miracle on Ice a no-brainer? What about the Saints winning Super Bowl XLIV? Does the David Tyree helmet catch in Super Bowl XLII grab a spot? Does the Michael Jordan buzzer beater in the 1998 NBA Finals or the Cubs winning the 2016 World Series deserve a place? After that, they discuss which Sports Calls will be part of that grouping. Can you argue that "Do You Believe in Miracles?" shouldn't get a spot? Will "Behind the Bag" be included? Is "May Day, May Day, May Day" in the conversation? What about "The Red Sox are World Champions" or "Havlicek Stole the Ball"? Prior to that, the trio pay tribute to the memory of Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Ozzy Osbourne, and Hulk Hogan.
Send us a textPete's retirement ceremony takes center stage as the Unpopular Celebrities crew unpacks what made it special—from General Sherman's unprecedented gesture of kneeling before Pete's family to the diamond formation that sparked passionate debate among the hosts. The raw emotions, careful planning, and inevitable "Bridezilla" moments of military farewells reveal deeper truths about service and separation.Against this celebration of service, the conversation shifts to profound loss. The hosts discuss the tragic death of 21-year-old Airman Lovin after an accidental weapon discharge, questioning whether the M18 handgun has fundamental safety issues or if this represents a failure of training and procedures. This thoughtful examination of accountability and responsibility highlights the real-world consequences when systems fail young defenders. The discussion weaves through recent celebrity passings—Malcolm Jamal Warner's heroic final act saving his daughter, Hulk Hogan's complicated legacy, and what it means to see the icons of your youth departing. These reflections on mortality lead into lighter territory with Glorilla's bizarre arrest after reporting her own home robbery (prompting the practical advice: "If you got drugs in your house, don't call the cops!"), Travis Hunter's apparent marital troubles after rejecting prenup advice, and a spirited debate about WNBA pay demands.Through personal stories, unfiltered opinions, and genuine camaraderie, this episode balances serious subjects with humor and heart. Whether you've served in uniform or simply appreciate authentic conversation about life's transitions, this candid discussion offers wisdom wrapped in wit and delivered with unflinching honesty.Join the conversation and share your thoughts on military retirements, celebrity culture, and everything in between! It was a tough week for celebrity deaths - Ozzy Osbourne, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and, of course, Hulk Hogan, who shook off his moral coil at the age of 71 on Thursday. We covered the Hulkster back in 2019, and in the handful of years since, he didn't stay out of the limelight. Most recently, he ripped his shirt off at the Republican National Convention as he endorsed another very public sex pest.
