Welcome to the Jungle, listener, because Baconsale has begun The Final Countdown to finish our 1980s rock bracket. The previous episode was the Glory Days, when we could Jump to conclusions relatively easily. But now Joel, Kent, and Zack are experiencing a New Sensation of stress as each matchup tastes like Bad Medicine and each decision could give them a Bad Reputation. But We Won't Back Down from this journey we started, and in The Spirit of Radio we'll swallow our Pride and continue on until only One band remains Alone. Join us on this Flight of Icarus to determine who plays the best Rock of Ages by pressing play. If you'd like to Bark at the Moon along with us, you can download the advanced 80s rock bracket at Baconsale.com.
For those about to listen to this 80s rock tournament, we salute you! This episode of Baconsale Hurts so Good, because Joel, Kent, and Zack have gathered some of the greatest Juke Box Heroes from the 1980s on a bracket to determine who is the best. It's going to be a Heartbreaker whenever we put two amazing bands up against each other and have to decide who's visited by the Angel of Death in the Heat of the Moment. And it may seem like a Madhouse as we share our reasoning, but don't let our picks Rock You Like a Hurricane. Don't Run to the Hills or Bang Your Head, either. Just keep in mind that you Don't Know What You Got Till It's Gone, and this is still Nothin' But a Good Time. Who's gonna win? Well, Our Lips are Sealed until the second half of this tournament. Download our official bracket at Baconsale.com to Rock the Casbah at home, and if you're living in a Land of Confusion, you can find our sampler platter playlist on our website, as well.

Author Alan Byrne is a first-time guest. He has a new book on the late great Phil Lynott called Philip Lynott: Renegade. This is a brand new edition of the book originally released in 2012. It's the story of the pioneering Irish musician, from his early days on his beloved Dublin music scene through the adventurous days of Thin Lizzy, the band he led for thirteen years. Once mainstream success came his way with Thin Lizzy's powerhouse Jailbreak album in 1976, his musical thirst only heightened, and this book also offers an intimate insight into his musical experimentation beyond the Thin Lizzy framework. From the slow burn of his rise with Thin Lizzy to the unfortunate and unnecessary outcome of his short life, Renegade offers a vantage point from the people who were by his side through it all.Purchase a copy of Philip Lynott: Renegade Episode PlaylistFollow Alan Byrne on Facebook ---------- BookedOnRock.com The Booked On Rock Store The Booked On Rock YouTube Channel Follow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOKINSTAGRAMTIKTOKX Find Your Nearest Independent Bookstore Contact The Booked On Rock Podcast: thebookedonrockpodcast@gmail.com The Booked On Rock Music: “Whoosh” by Crowander / “Last Train North” & “No Mercy” by TrackTribe

Fifty years ago, in the fall of 1974, Bon Scott and AC/DC joined forces. They began building the foundation for what would go on to become one of the world's biggest rock and roll bands. With Bon, they reached the height of their commercial success thanks to the multi-platinum-selling 1979 album Highway To Hell. After Bon's untimely death, Brian Johnson stepped in as lead singer, and with 1980's Back In Black, the band was even bigger. The album topped the charts and went on to sell 27 million copies. It ranks as one of the biggest-selling albums in music history. Here to talk about the amazing story of AC/DC is author Susan Masino, who wrote the book Let There Be Rock: The Story Of AC/DC. Originally released in 2009, the updated edition was released through Omnibus Press in 2020. She is also the author of 2015's AC/DC FAQ-All That's Left to Know About the World's True Rock and Roll Band. On this special episode of GenX Journeys, we revisit a fascinating conversation originally recorded for Return to the '80s on January 28, 2021. Paul and Del had the privilege of interviewing legendary rock photographer Mark "Weissguy" Weiss. Mark's story is not just a nostalgic trip through the 80s rock scene; it's an inspiring journey of passion, persistence, and seizing opportunities. Mark is the creative genius behind some of the most iconic album covers of the 80s, including Twisted Sister's Stay Hungry and Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet. His photographs have graced the pages of rock magazines like Circus, cementing his place as a cornerstone of 80s rock culture. But Mark's career wasn't handed to him—it started with a daring hustle. He was arrested for selling photos outside a Kiss concert, and that unlikely setback led to an opportunity with Circus magazine. In this episode, Mark shares unforgettable stories, including earning the nickname “Weissguy” from Mötley Crüe, hitting the road with Ozzy Osbourne, and the wild moments behind the scenes of rock's golden era. Mark also shares details about his incredible coffee table book, The Decade That Rocked: The Photography of Mark "Weissguy" Weiss. This stunning collection of photos takes you on a journey through the 80s rock scene and is an absolute must-have for any fan of the era. Additionally, at the time of this interview, Mark was collaborating with Missy Whitney on a book called Keep On Rollin' - My Fan Club Years with Kevin DuBrow & Quiet Riot. That book is now complete and available, making this a perfect moment to revisit this conversation. Feel the drumbeats of life's great symphony with the rhythm maestro, Chiko Misomali as he joins me on the latest Music Junkies episode. As someone whose musical heartbeat has fueled the likes of Biff Naked and resonated in games and commercials, Chiko brings a playlist that's the soundtrack to his life's milestones. We kick off reminiscing about our musical roots in Vancouver's concert scene, revel in the power chords of '80s rock, and share a love for the electrifying Vancouver Canucks. Our laughter echoes over past guitar fumbles and those recorder classes that we all endured and somehow survived. Chiko's career, with its untold middle years, is a reminder that some beats are best felt rather than spoken. The session takes an intimate turn as we explore the diverse tunes that have twisted through Chiko's life, from the smooth vibes of Nat King Cole to the aggressive riffs of Arabic death metal. Van Halen's anthems form a significant motif in our discussion, as we dissect the band's transformative journey through the Roth and Hagar eras. It's a celebration of live gigs that etch themselves into memory, milestones marked by concerts and records that continue to reverberate in our lives. These stories are more than just music memories; they're the chapters of our existence, each one punctuated by the tracks that defined them. Our rhythm strides into the realm of sports and manifestation, recounting how belief can be as potent as any game strategy. The Anaheim Ducks' victory tale, witnessed firsthand, carries the energy of anthemic sing-alongs and the undeniable power of a positive mindset. We discuss how terms like "busy" have become badges of honor, yet we pause to appreciate the quieter, joyful moments provided by our canine friends. The conversation spans the wisdom of filtering negativity and embracing the music within, guiding us to harmonize our environments and souls. So, tune in and let Chiko's drum beats and our shared stories set the tempo for your own musical journey.More about chikoland Here Listen to the playlist on SpotifyWatch the episode on YouTubeFollow Music Junkies everywhereMake sure to HIT that LIKE BUTTON and SUBSCRIBE to our Channel to be notified of new episodes! Rock 'n' roll at it's finest. This episode is with the legendary Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult. The band started as BOC in 1967 and has been releasing albums and touring ever since. They have a new album titled "Ghost Stories", which features rare and unreleased music from as far back as the late 70's. These songs, for the most part were never offically released and have been sitting in a vault since they were originally preformed. Now, with the help of A.I., the music has been cleaned up and put onto this one special album. Buck is one of the original founding members, guitarist and vocalist and performs such hits as "Don't Fear The Reaper", "Godzilla" and "Burnin' For You". He shares his history with the band along with insight to how this new album was created.
After a tumultuous start and some early setbacks, Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug persevered into the '80s—a decade in which the music scene was not particularly friendly to acoustic guitars. As the acoustic market languished, Bob and Kurt found ways to keep their fledgling operation on its feet and growing, seizing unexpected opportunities to support the business when conditions were less than ideal. But it wasn't all cloudy skies. As Bob and Kurt discuss in the third episode of our oral history podcast, Taylor began making guitars for artists, building guitar cases in house, Bob introduced the Grand Concert model, and the company reached a milestone with its first million-dollar year.

This week on Music Junkies, I'm thrilled to have my good old buddy, Derrick Germain, onboard. We'll be swapping stories - from wild high school experiences to his heartwarming love saga with his wife, Tracy, and their journey through four failed date attempts before finally hitting the sweet spot. Our friendly debate on the significance of flexibility for a goalie (both on the field and off) promises to be both entertaining and enlightening. Don't miss Derrick's quirky tales of air-guitaring to 'Sweet Child of Mine,' his transformation from being a high school misfit to a popular hockey player, and how his talent for playing the spoons came to be. We'll also get a bit cheeky, discussing his experiences with sex toys and his hilarious nickname 'Rudy.' Trust me, you'll want to hear the backstory of that one. Plus, we'll take a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about dancing to 'Ice Ice Baby' and his standout pranks. Rounding off our conversation, we'll explore Derrick's deep-rooted connection with musician Brett Kissel, their collaborative hit 'Make a Life, Not a Living,' and his passion for hunting and fishing. We'll also uncover his support for his local Junior B hockey team and plans for a sports, hunting, and fishing show. Wrapping up, we'll delve into the power of music and its influence on our lives, with Derrick shedding light on his journey. So, gear up for a roller-coaster ride of laughs, reflections, and some good old music talk.Listen to the playlist on SpotifyWatch the episode on YouTubeFollow Music Junkies everywhere Make sure to HIT that LIKE BUTTON and SUBSCRIBE to our Channel to be notified of new episodes! Rita Rae Roxx invented "it girl" behavior. Have you ever been to a concert and seen the cool, pretty girl in one-of-a-kind clothing who the artists can't take their eyes off of? That was and is Rita. Well, at the beginning of her night -- before she got invited backstage, and then back to the hotel, duh. As a teen in Omaha, she made it her life's mission to go to every concert she could and hang out (and sometimes more *wink*) with rockstars. For decades, Rita has built relationships with rockstars that wrote classics, and she has the stories and pictures to back it up. Rita and I met on our gameshow, and I knew I needed her to come on Lit Hein and tell her juicy and hilarious stories. Check out her book, Once Upon a Rockstar, but reach out to me or Rita to buy a copy directly from her! Support your local rock goddess ;)

Time to travel back to a more innocent time. OK it was not a more innocent time not even close. It was down right decadent and sleazy and most of that rock n roll decadence went down at the Cathouse Rock Club. Even though the Cathouse has been closed for decades there are still legendary stories that resyrface time to time. The Cathouse opened in 1986 by Riki Rachtman ( Headbangers Ball ) & Taime Downe ( Faster Pussycat) It was not opened as a money maker. It was a way Riki & Taime could get free drinks and meet strippers. Remember they were young and it was the 80's. How did the duo of decadence even meet. What does the term "Bald men behind bars" even mean. Riki takes you back and revists a nostalgic background of pop culture as well as rock history GUESTS: Riki Rachtman, Taime Downe, Keith Cooper, Trina Ortegon Catch Riki Rachtman on tour with his show ONE FOOT IN THE GUTTER for ticket info go to cathousehollywood.com This show is sponsored by your new favorite coffee CATHOUSECOFFEE go to www.cathousecoffee.com use code CHP get 10% off
The Cathouse was the most notorious rock n roll club in the 80's and 90's and RATT was one of the biggest rock bands to emerge from the Sunset Strip of Hollywood. They sold millions of records sold out stadiums across the globe but when vocalist Stephen Pearcy sits down with Riki Rachtman there are stories that you won't find on any bio. Stephens altercation with Axl Rose in the Cathouse DJ Booth, Stephen playing guitar for Motley Crue and Stephens idea of keeping the 80 Sunset Strip experience alive. What about that time that Stephen and Riki and a few other rock notables took over another 80's bands record release party. It's all here baby.
