At that time he also sent us an article on cleaning your records. So this week we continue with our second installment. The following was taken from the Pro-Ject website. Cleaning records revitalizes old and dirty records. If you don't see scratches on your vinyl, most likely, the reason that your vinyl does not play as well as it should is because of lint, dust, and grime. Luckily, the most common reasons to clean vinyl records are easy to manage and take care of. Clean records play with less distortion, and it helps the vinyl last longer because the friction that happens when dust is on the record will no longer happen. In fact, keeping your records clean can even extend the life of your record player's stylus, which can save you from having to replace your record player needle. Your entire record collection will sound better with the right cleaning process than when you purchased it at the record store. Record Washing Of course, you can wash your records like you would your dishes. Simply put a few drops of dish soap into a tub of water. Avoid using tap water if you are creating your own solution. This will help to keep minerals that could damage the vinyl away from the records that you are cleaning. Di-ionized or distilled water is ideal for cleaning records. Never use Isopropyl alcohol in your vinyl cleaning solution because it removes the shine from the vinyl's surface and makes it more vulnerable to damage. Instead of making your own cleaning solution, you can purchase a record cleaning solution that will work for your entire collection. It can be purchased individually or in a cleaning kit like the Spin-Clean Vinyl Record Washer System. This is a full cleaning system with soft brushes, cleaning fluid, and microfiber cloths that won't scratch the vinyl. Once the record is clean, rinse the cleaning solution or any soap off with distilled water, being careful not to get the label wet. If water or cleaning solution does get on the label, make sure that you quickly blot it dry with a microfiber cloth, and don't put it away with your other records until it completely air dries. This helps to ensure that the ink doesn't bleed and the label doesn't tear. Always make sure that the records are dry before playing them on your player. It should also be allowed at least 30 minutes to dry before it is placed back in the sleeve because the excess moisture can damage the records and cause the inner paper sleeves to mold. One way to ensure this is avoided is to use plastic sleeves instead of the paper ones that come with most records. Vacuuming Records Vacuuming records is one of the better cleaning methods to consider using. Using a vinyl record cleaner that is vacuum-powered will suck up any dust and debris found in the grooves. Using the vacuum cleaner should be done after the record is brushed to remove excess dirt on the surface. The VC-E Compact Vinyl Record Cleaning Machine falls into this category of record cleaner. Record vacuuming machines will apply a cleaning solution to the records, scrub them, and vacuum away all of the wet solution and debris. It is the superior way to clean vinyl because it combines all of the cleaning methods using a machine that is quick and safe for the records. It may not be the best option for someone who has just a few records because of the price of these machines, but if you have a larger collection of albums, it's a solid investment to make. Cleaning Records and Storing Without Worry Once you have cleaned your record collection, you need to ensure that the vinyl does not get damaged or become warped because it is stored improperly. The first step that you need to take to keep your records safe is to store them in an inner sleeve that will not scratch the surface of the vinyl. To add more protection, you should also use outer sleeves on your vinyl to keep the dust away from your records completely. Records should always be stored vertically because stacking them on top of each other on a shelf causes warping that hurts the sound quality.

If you've been thinking of making your own concentrates, then this episode is for you. Inspired by listeners who have been asking about making and using concentrates in edibles, having this knowledge can allow to make your own OR if you're buying concentrates, understand why quality matters. I'm joined by Chase, known online as Temple Grower, a guest who knows a lot more about making concentrates than the average person. Not only does he work in the legal cannabis industry in a lab making distillate, he is an avid cultivator, breeder, living soil advocate and concentrate maker. He's truly a believer in growing and making your own medicine so you can take control of your high life! Concentrates make for potent edibles and lend themselves well to many candy-making recipes. They're great for topicals, making infusions or you can also ingest them directly. Since they're so potent, a little goes a long way so be sure to start with the smallest possible dose and work your way up from there. On the new episode of MiCannaCast, Cannadave & Groovee go over a couple of healthy cannabis tips. We wanted to talk about this topic in particular because we've had people reach out regarding how we clean our bangers, do we clean our nail after every dab? These are a few of the questions we received. We also go into details on Ghost 313 and the Cookies & Chem strain they grew. This is our second-time review of a product produced by Ghosts 313. Dab Tips It's very important if you are a dabber that you take care of your glass rig and your banger. We prefer Quartz bangers over titanium and ceramic nails. We believe if you get a great quartz banger to pay a little for it you will be good to go dab. Plus quartz is probably better to breathe in when it's cooler compared to a hot dab on a titanium nail. A trick we use to clean a dab rig is to have Isopropyl, q-tips, and your banger. After you take a hit out of your rig make sure you take a q-tip wipe up any extra residue in the banger, then dip the one end not use into isopropyl and place it in the banger and move around in a circular motion. This will tend to clean the banger and make sure you have a clean hit every time you dab. When you take care of the banger and rigs you will have these products last a lot longer and they will look clean. Nobody likes a charred banger especially if your trying to do melt shots or take a video. Always clean your banger if you dab a lot or even on just special occasions. Ghost 313 The second topic we talk about in the episode is Ghost 313. We tried their Cookies & Chem flower and we do a strain review on it. We break it down into multiple categories and rate each part of the product from taste, ash, smell, ash, and effects to name a few. We did a review on their Crunch Berries which was pretty good. I think we both enjoyed this strain more than the crunch berries we tried on our last review of Ghost 313. I would say the product by them is really good and the Terps are always exploding on the flower. Always a good smelling strain they have. Please Follow & Subscribe MiCannaCast http://www.micannacast.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Micannacast https://www.instagram.com/micannacast/ https://www.patreon.com/micannacast https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCug_... Now, I'm no doctor, so I'm not going to try and get all technical on what it is... as one of my friends says, GTS (Google that shit). It's essentially a family of viruses with severity ranging from symptoms of a common cold to sever respiratory diseases like MERS & SARS. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. This all sounds very scary but there are some basic pre-cautions you can do to protect yourself and others. • Washing your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing. • Don't touch your face, as that is the most common ways germs get into your body (Through your mouth, nose & eyes) • If you are sick, wear a mask to prevent your germs from getting airborne through your coughing or sneezing (Masks are not necessary and don't do you any good if you are NOT sick, as most off the shelf masks are not airtight and will not protect you from germs... though they can help by keeping you from touching your face) • Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing. • If you have the luxury, avoid crowded enclosed places for a time... like buses or airplanes. If you weren’t able to wash your hands on the regular, make sure you have some alcohol based hand sanitizer on hand. If you the stores around you are already out of stock, it's pretty easy to make your own. If you're watching this on YouTube or Instagram, I'll include the ingredient list below. Here’s what you need: • 2/3 cup Isopropyl alcohol 91% (rubbing alcohol) • 1/3 cup aloe vera gel • Optinal Essential oil in your choice of fragrance (optional) • A small mixing bowl & spoon • An empty container, such as a 3-ounce container from a travel toiletries kit • A small piece of masking tape or permanent marker for labeling Here’s how to make it: In a mixing bowl, stir Isopropyl alcohol and aloe vera gel together until well blended. Add 8-10 drops of scented essential oil (optional, but nice!). Stir to incorporate. Pour the homemade hand sanitizer into an empty container and seal. Write “hand sanitizer” on a piece of masking tape and affix to the bottle. The CDC recommends using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. This recipe makes a sanitizer that slightly exceeds that alcohol content at 60.66%, so follow the proportions exactly -- no fudging or winging it! While a virus outbreak like this is scary, it's also a good reminder that we each need to plan ahead with an emergency plan, including a minimum of 2 weeks extra food and water for you, your family and any pets in the case of a natural disaster or outbreak. This will help us not panicking when something comes up and not having to worry about rushing out to Costco at the last minute to stock up with the masses who also did not plan ahead. What are you doing to stay healthy right now? Let's hope the Coronavirus just ends up being another over-hyped media scare... but in case it's not, do your part to stay healthy and stop putting your dirty hands in your mouth ;-) Talk with you tomorrow. https://www.cdc.gov/nonpharmaceutical-interventions/pdf/gr-pan-flu-ind-house.pdf https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans. It’s easy to fall into fear, but what we need to focus on is coming together as a society to make sure we can get through this together. Talk with your family and neighbors to see how you can best support each other. Be aware of your body & when you start feeling sick stay home and take care of yourself first.
