By some counts, there are about 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. As a prospective student, you can slice and dice that list in a seemingly infinite number of ways. You could sort by state, you could look at urban schools and rural ones, you could filter out schools that you consider too big or too small, you could look at what majors are offered, you could look at whether the school offers Division I, Division II or Division III athletics. The list goes on and on.You could also look at public schools and private schools. Of those 4,000 colleges in the U.S., about 60% are private and 40% are public. But what are the fundamental differences between private and public schools? Are there advantages and disadvantages to each? And how should students begin comparing the two?In this episode of College Admissions Insider, we'll answer those questions and more. Tech support is reactive and prevents unhappy customers. Customer success is proactive and generates customer delight. Customer success creates additional value. These are solving problems that our current customers have and typically customers are going to call us. They say, ‘Hey, I'm not getting delivery or, Hey, I don't know how to use this. We're being reactive and supporting our customers. And yet in this recurring revenue world, we really need to be proactive. We need to make sure our buyers are using our product. They're getting value from our product, because if we want them to pay us month after month after month, they'd better be receiving value. That's where the customer success department comes in. "Subscription businesses need you to use and like their product for you to keep buying it. " - Mark Stiving Customer success needs to be watching. Who's using the product. How are they using the product? How much are they using the product? Are they truly getting value? The way we would expect them to? And as customer success helps our individual customers get more and more value from our product. It makes it less likely that our customers are going to churn out. And B makes it more likely that our customers will end up buying more from us in the future, either through usage or upgrades or, or even cross selling or buying something different from us in the end customer success, that proactive activity is creating value to our marketplace. And it's something that we'll end up capturing in higher prices or more sales. We hope you enjoyed this podcast. If you see have any questions or feedback please email me mark@impactpricing.com. Summary courtesy of Goodreads: From the creator of the What's the Difference? Newsletter, a whimsical and practical reference for food nerds and novices alike, covering dozens of culinary topics, that clears up confusion over similar terms, techniques, dishes, and more. Do you know the difference between sweet potatoes and yams? Bourbon and rye? Crumbles, cobblers, and crisps? Most people don't, even a number of home cooks—which is why they turn to Brette Warshaw. This informative reference makes clear the differences between things that are often confused in the kitchen, on the plate, behind the bar, and everywhere in between. Illustrated.

What is the difference between burnout and depression? I was recently asked this question in the FRIED. The Burnout Podcast Discussion Group on Facebook. Because I explored this topic at length in my book The Bouncebackability Factor: End Burnout, Gain Resilience, and Change the World, I decided to share a short excerpt on this week's #straightfromcait episode. While depression and burnout look different for everyone, my conclusion is that they may simply be two sides of the same coin. The key distinction seems to be that burnout is associated with high levels of stress, whether it's due to work or to general life events, while depression may not have such a direct cause. Tune into this week's #straightfromcait episode to learn more about the overlaps and distinctions between burnout and depression and how they have manifested themselves differently in my own life. Once you have listened to the episode, I encourage you to join our Facebook discussion group (if you haven't already!) and share your thoughts. Has depression been part of your burnout story? I look forward to hearing from you! Quotes • “The World Health Organization calls burnout an occupational hazard, but it's an overall wellness hazard. It literally affects everything.” (2:49-2:56) • “My view is that burnout and depression are different results with similar causes. I believe that untreated burnout can lead to depression, so burnout can be part of the road to depression, but doesn't need to be. My feeling is that the main difference is that people that are burnt out know they are burnt out, and that it's because of overwhelm and too much stress. With depression, it often seems unrelated to other things.” (5:45-6:13) • “In my opinion, the depression associated with burnout manifests itself in self-doubt. When burnt out, you start questioning yourself and your abilities and/or passion for your chosen path.” (7:06-7:16) Links https://facebook.com/groups/friedtheburnoutpodcast https://monkeypuzzletraining.co.uk/free-downloads/MBI_self_assessment_for_organisations.pdf bit.ly/bouncebackorder XOXO, C If you know that it's time to actually DO something about the burnout cycle you've been in for too long - book your free consult today: bit.ly/callcait Podcast production and show notes provided by FIRESIDE Marketing
Buzzwords abound in every profession – “rigor,” “differentiation,” or “backward design.” anyone? – and content creation is no different. You may have heard people say you need to have both “evergreen” and “seasonal” content on your blog, podcast, or video channel, but what does that mean? Seasonal Content Blog posts, or podcast or video episodes, that are related to a specific holiday, event, or season. This kind of content will typically see a large influx of traffic when you post it, and then again when that season or day comes around again (if it does). Some examples of seasonal content would be posts or episodes related to: Back to school, Summer, or Baseball season Mother's Day, Christmas, or Teacher Appreciation Day World Series, Google algorithm update, or a Global pandemic Seasonal content is useful to your business in that it provides an immediate influx of traffic, and it demonstrates to your audience that you are striving to provide relevant and current events. This can generate buzz and allow you to show up in searches while they are trending. Evergreen Content When posts or episodes are referred to as evergreen it means that they are not bound by any day, event, or season. It is equally useful in August as it is in February and it generates a steady flow of traffic to your blog, podcast, or video show. It's timeless. The benefit of evergreen content is that it is always relevant. That means that no matter when someone stumbles upon your content, they can learn and apply what you're sharing. Also, because evergreen content is searched for all year long, it can have a positive long-term impact on your search engine optimization (SEO). And since content creation is a long-term strategy, this is a big plus. These types of posts and episodes aid in building authority month to month because it takes time to to rank in search engines. You can also build backlinks to this type of content more easily because you can promote it year-round and other content creators or curators may reference your work at any time. Another benefit of evergreen content is that it can be prepared and scheduled in advance. As a busy professional, there are many times throughout the year that you can't spend the time to create quality content. But if you have some posts or episodes in the bank you can publish them any time life gets busy and it will still be relevant. Striking a Balance Creating content that is a mix of seasonal and evergreen is beneficial to virtually every business, however, in most cases, focusing the majority of your content on evergreen has the biggest return on investment. Exceptions to this would be content creators focused on deals and coupons, seasonal events (like a sports channel), or hyperlocal publishers. There's no perfect balance of evergreen to seasonal content. But a good place to start would be to create 1 seasonal piece per month, and the rest evergreen. You can then see how your audience reacts and adjust as necessary.
Why?: Are you a teacher or a facilitator? What's the difference? What?: In many churches, for more than a generation, we've called everyone who leads a class a teacher. But that's only technically right in that every Christian teaches as the church carries out the Great Commission through the individual believers in the church. So, parents teach children. Believers teach the lost. Mature believers teach less mature believers. All those opportunities tend to be private encounters. For public teaching, or teaching in groups, Jesus has given the church teachers. In Ephesians 4, when Paul talks about the unity of the church, he says that Jesus gave, among other things, shepherds and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry and for building up the body of Christ to unity. Teachers, in this sense, are extensions of the pastor's role. In fact, many scholars argue that when Paul writes "shepherds and teachers" he means two aspects of the same office. That is, pastors are to shepherd and to teach. Even if you argue that these are two separate offices, pastor and teacher, it's hard to argue that they are not closely related. Teachers are gifted to the church by Jesus, equipped by the Holy Spirit, and recognized by the church as gifted to teach. Between these private and public ministries, for decades we've recognized another role for willing, mature believers. Although we've often labeled them teachers, they are, more properly, facilitators. When you look at most commercially available Bible lessons, traditionally called quarterlies, their content is written by teachers for facilitators to use in the local church. So, they've developed entire lessons that can be used with minimal modification to effectively teach the Bible. Any mature believer should be able to take the prepared lesson and lead a class. If, instead of using quarterlies, the church uses sermon-based questions, almost any mature believer can be taught to facilitate discussion of those questions. Whatever choice the church makes in content, mature believers can fill a real need in the church by serving as facilitators. In contrast to facilitating fixed content, teachers tend to develop new content or modify existing lessons for the local church. Thankfully, the commercial publishers use teachers to write the lessons that get sent to facilitators. Also, thankfully, God places teachers in the church to extend the pastor's ministry. Since teachers are so closely tied to the pastor's role it's reasonable to hold them to the qualifications for elders or pastors that Paul describes in 1 Tim chapter 3 and Titus chapter 1. Their public speaking ministry risks leading others astray, which is why James 3:1 talks about the strict judgment for teachers. So What?: The church needs teachers and mature believers who serve as facilitators. Some fill both of those roles depending on the circumstance. Others serve in only one of those roles. So What Now?: So, which are you? Teacher or facilitator? If you're a facilitator, facilitate well. If you're a teacher, teach well.

SMMS #172 - When it comes to creating content, as content creators we have to decide whether we will be creating content for free, or whether we will be making our audience pay for the content (e.g. an E-Book, Course, Coaching). On today's episode of Social Media Marketing School, I will be breaking down the differences between free and paid content. Laws that impact home ownership are often not well understood. Many homeowners may not be aware of an exemption that slightly lowers annual property taxes or the exemption that protects homeowners from a particular kind of creditor — the judgment creditor, a creditor who has sued an individual in court and obtained a legal judgment to collect money owed. A judgment creditor has the right to take several actions to collect the debt, including selling assets like real estate. Bribe VS Reward - how to successfully teach a skill using food without making your dog dependent on it! Dog Bribe = relying on showing your dog food in order to get a response. What's the problem? If the thing your dog wants to do is more motivating than your food, you lose! Dog Reward = the paycheck that comes AFTER the dog has responded successfully to a cue you've previously taught. Dog Lure = Using food for a SHORT period of time in the beginning stages of teaching a skill to show the dog what you expect. Knowing how and when to use and remove food is important for sustained reliability. If food is removed too early, the skill won't have enough reinforcement history to stand on its own. If done too late, your dog may become dependent on seeing the food in your hand to understand the cue.
