Now The BelTel can reveal more details about the ‘operation' and the number of people involved. Guest: Allison Morris. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Beidh Simon Harris ina Thaoiseach Dé Máirt nuair a fhillfidh Teachtaí Dála ar an Dáil i ndiaidh shos na Cásca. Ós rud é nach raibh aon iarrthóir eile do cheannaireacht Fhine Gael tar éis do Leo Varadkar éirí as an ról, tá Harris ina cheannaire gan toghchán ach beidh vóta de dhíth sa Dáil chun é a dheimhniú mar Thaoiseach, an Taoiseach is óige i stair an stáit ag seacht mbliana is tríocha d'aois. Tá beagnach 40 ball den Pháirtí Daonlathach i Meiriceá, Nancy Pelosi ina measc, i ndiaidh impí ar Uachtarán na Stát Aontaithe, Joe Biden, agus ar an Rúnaí Stáit, Anthony Blinken, stop a chur le díolacháin arm d'Iosrael. D'éiligh Biden féin sos cogaidh Déardaoin tar éis d'fhórsaí Iosraelacha seachtar oibrithe cabhracha a mharú. Tá súil ag an charthanacht World Central Kitchen go dtarlóidh fiosrúchán neamhspleách. Ghlac Iosrael freagracht as an eachtra, agus dúirt an Príomh-Aire nár tharla sé d'aon ghnó, ach níor gabhadh aon phardún faoi. Ahead of Simon Harris's first Fine Gael Ard Fheis as party leader, Cormac McQuinn and Jack Horgan-Jones join Hugh Linehan to discuss the potential quick wins and policy departures Harris can look to implement when his expected tenure as taoiseach begins next Tuesday. And while we were denied the excitement of hustings and voting, there is still much speculation as to the potential make-up of Simon Harris's Cabinet. How does he find the balance between merit and geography? And will some Fine Gael party departees have their arms twisted to stay? Also on the podcast: the other recent earthquake in Irish politics was the unexpected resignation of DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson, following his charging for historical sexual offences. Just a few short weeks after the Assembly was reconstituted, the revelation has been received with a certain level of calm by the political establishment, with interim DUP leader Gavin Robinson coming from the more moderate tradition within the party. But could the deal struck for power-sharing be tested in the months ahead? And will the looming Westminster election give rise to turmoil within a deeply divided DUP party? Hosted on Acast. Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall. * Inniu an 3ú lá de mhí Feabhra. Is mise Niall Ó Cuileagáin. Dheimhnigh an DUP go bhfillfeadh siad thar n-ais ar Stormont an tseachtain seo tar éis margaidh a dhein siad le Rialtas na Breataine. Ní raibh forais Stormont ina seasamh le dhá bhliain anuas ó tharraing an DUP amach astu mar gheall ar an margadh trádála déanta idir Rialtas na Breataine agus an tAontas Eorpach. Dúirt ceannaire an DUP, Jeffrey Donaldson, go raibh sé sásta go mbeadh “áit Thuaisceart Éireann sa Ríocht Aontaithe sábháilte de bharr a bhfuil geallta ag Rialtas na Breataine”. De réir an mhargaidh nua, beidh níos lú seiceálachacustaim ar earraí a sheoltar ón mBreatain agus a choinnítear sa Tuaisceart. Is cosúil go dtiocfaidh feisirí Thionól Stormont le chéile Dé Sathairn agus go mbeidh Michelle O'Neill óShinn Féin ina Céad-Aire de bharr thorthaí an toghcháin dheireanaigh. Seo an chéad uair a bheidh náisiúnaí ina Chéad-Aire ó bunaíodh Tuaisceart Éireann. Tá sé deimhnithe ag an Aontas Eorpach €50 billiún breise a thabhairt don Úcráin tar éis cruinniú éigeandála sa Bhruiséil an tseachtain seo. Bhí Príomh-Aire na hUngáire, Viktor Orbán, i gcoinne níos mó tacaíochta a chur ar fáil don Úcráin roimh an Nollaig, ach d'athraigh sé a mheon le linn an chruinnithe. Ba chóir go mbeadh gach cinneadh déanta d'aon ghuth san Aontas Eorpach agus mar sin, bhí fíor-thábhachtacht ag baint le cinneadh Orbán. Beidh an t-airgead seo riachtanach don Úcráin chun a seirbhísí agus a geilleagar a choinneáil slán. Tá géarghá le maoiniú ag an Úcráin tar éis dhá bhliain ag troid in aghaidhfhórsaí na Rúise agus an méid díobhála atá déanta sa tír ó thosaigh an cogadh. Ceiliúradh Lá Fhéile Bríde (nó Imbolc) Déardaoin agus beidh lá saoire bainc in Éirinn Dé Luain, an dara huair riamh a bheidh lá saoire ann chun onóir a thabhairt don Naomh agus don mBandia. Bhí an Taoiseach Leo Varadkar sa Bhruiséil an tseachtain seo, áit ar bhuail sé le hUachtarán Pharlaimint na hEorpa, Roberta Metsola. Tar éis a gcruinnithe, scríobh Metsolateachtaireacht i nGaolainn ar na meáin shóisialta inar ghuigh sí beannachtaí na Féile Bríde ar mhuintir na hÉireann. Beidh roinnt imeachtaí ar siúl le linn an deireadh seachtaine chun ómós a dhéanamh do Bhríd: mar shampla, beidh mórshiúl i gCluain Dolcáin Dé Domhnaigh ina mbeidh daoine gléasta mar chleamairí agus mar Bhríd, an Naomh agus an Bandia págánach.
