What does "born again" mean? Can you be a Christian without being born again? Rabbi Schneider of Discovering the Jewish Jesus shares what born again means, how it's possible, and that God is still in the business of doing miracles. Jesus loves you and will manifest Himself through witnessing those miracles. Being born again is not a certain type of Christian. To be born again is to be born of God's Spirit and receive His nature. We can't physically see the Spirit, but we can see the effects of the Spirit as we cannot see the wind. We need to release ourselves of only what we can see so that we can be moved by and led by the Spirit. He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Do you have ears to hear? Do you have a spiritually sensitive heart? Come learn how to be born again. TITLE: Born Again (What Does "Born Again" Mean?) What was Jesus first miracle? Why did Jesus turn water to wine? What is the significance of that first miracle? Rabbi Schneider shares that studying and understanding John's Gospel is profound. Jesus turns water to wine, and it is better than the wine served prior. But the significance is that as we keep our eyes on Jesus, the best years of our lives will be the latter years of our lives. Even as the outer body fails, Jesus renews our inner man. We will receive a deeper peace and grace from God. We will be renewed day by day. God shows His glory by doing something supernatural in the lives of His children. Write and keep track of the things God does in your life to give you courage as you press on. Scripture read by Lynn Schumann.Passover and CommunionJesus was Jewish and Passover is connected to Easter and Communion, welcome Jewish Jesus. What was the importance of Passover to the Jewish people?Jesus died during the Passover festival, what does that signify? How does Jesus liberate us?What does communion have to do with Passover?Luke 22:7-237 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover meal for us that we may eat it.” 9 They asked him, “Where do you want us to make preparations for it?” 10 “Listen,” he said to them, “when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him into the house he enters 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The teacher asks you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” ' 12 He will show you a large room upstairs, already furnished. Make preparations for us there.” 13 So they went and found everything as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover meal.14 When the hour came, he took his place at the table, and the apostles with him. 15 He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, 16 for I tell you, I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves, 18 for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. 21 But see, the one who betrays me is with me, and his hand is on the table. 22 For the Son of Man is going as it has been determined, but woe to that one by whom he is betrayed!” 23 Then they began to ask one another which one of them it could be who would do this.

What does it mean that the Lord is our righteousness? What do the names of God mean practically for us? Why are Christians so sure they're going to heaven? Rabbi Schneider shares in today's episode of Discovering the Jewish Jesus that Jesus stands in your place so that you are accepted by Father God. Our sins are transferred into Jesus because He died on the cross in our place. Our righteousness is not based on how good we've been, but on the fact that Jesus stands in our place. We will be rewarded for the good we have done, but we cannot be righteous on our own. Learn why Paul opens all his letters in the Bible with, "Grace and peace to you from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ". Watch and learn how to express and practice God's covenant names in your prayers, be aware and pay attention to God's provision in your life, believe God to bring healing to you here and now, God is transforming you. What does Yahweh Rohi mean? Why is God called a shepherd? Rabbi Schneider of Discovering the Jewish Jesus shares how God's names are actually covenant promises with His people, how the sacred name, Yahweh Rohi, is a promise that God will be the shepherd of His people, and that God is present and active in our lives today. Whereever there is brokenness, ask God to restore your soul as your Yahweh Rohi. Jesus loves you. He is guiding you in the right path. Release fear and thoughts of doom because God has good plans for you that going to pursue you all the days of your life. Visit our website at DiscoveringTheJewishJesus.com
Who is Elohim? Is God's name so sacred we shouldn't say it? Rabbi Schneider shares that God has a personal name. (This is the very first in a series of messages about the names of God.) By knowing God's name, Yahweh, we encounter God and know who He is. But Elohim is a title, the plural of El, weighted and recognizing the godhead as three-in-one. The concept of relationship stems out of God's own nature as multidimensional. YHWH/Yahweh revealed His covenant name to Moses so we can call on Yaweh in love and reverance. Call upon God by His name, Yahweh, because He wants you to know Him. He wants a relationship with you. Jehovah is a mispronunciation because ancient scribes concealed God's name to confuse gentiles to avoid blaspheming it. God's name Yahweh is a verb and He is continuous, unfinished action because God is alive and involved in your life forever. Yahweh is your God and He loves you. This week we have a lively conversation with Amy-Jill Levine, who is a distinguished scholar of the New Testament and Jewish Studies (and who is Jewish herself), about Jesus and the New Testament in the light of how he would be understood in the Jewish context of the first century--as well as what Jesus has to offer to the world now, even to people who are not Christian (or even religious at all). This conversation offers some eye-opening perspectives on the deeper meanings of the parables of Jesus, how the teachings of Jesus are based in the Torah rather than diverging from it, and how misreadings of the Bible have led to historic antisemitism--but that a closer reading of the Bible can lead to dialogue and even coexistence of different faiths. Amy-Jill Levine is the author of countless books, including the upcoming "Jesus for Everyone: Not Just Christians." She is Rabbi Stanley M. In this profoundly important conversation, Liz is joined by David Hoffbrand, author of The Jewish Jesus. It is vital for us to come to a deeper understanding of Jesus as a Jewish man. As David says, the Jewish Jesus is the only Jesus! After all, this is how the early Church knew and understood Him, and even in Revelation, Jesus is still identified as the Lion of Judah. The Jewish identity and culture is of huge significance to our Lord, not just in who He was but who He is. So the more we understand the Hebrew culture and heritage, the more we understand His heart. We read the Scriptures differently when we have this lens. At the Mount of Transfiguration, we read about Moses and Elijah meeting with Jesus. This was not a New Testament vs. Old Testament conversation! The early church didn't have this concept. In the Hebrew mind, Moses represents Torah, and Elijah represents the prophets. It shows the unity of the whole Scriptures, and Jesus being the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. David highlights that when Jesus was on the earth, the people often struggled to get past His humanity and see His divinity, but in today's world we have the opposite struggle. We have so focused on His divinity, yet don't grasp His humanity as easily. Whether this is a new area for you to explore or not, draw near today into this invitation to know the humanity of Yeshua. Related Materials:In The Jewish Jesus, David Hoffbrand explores the answers to these and related questions in a way that is accessible to everyone. As you see how Jesus lived, thought and taught as a Jewish man, you will come to know Him like never before, and find that His teachings come alive in their original context.

First Fruits of Zion teaches that the whole Bible, including the Law of Moses, that is, the Torah given to the Jewish people, has relevance and practical application for Gentile Christians. Some Messianic Jews disagree; they argue that the Torah is for Jews only. Today's guests, FFOZ Senior Educator Aaron Eby and Director of Torah Club Damian Eisner are here to challenge the idea that the Torah has nothing to say to Gentiles. – Episode Highlights – Terms are confusing if they are not well-defined. Many people stumble on the Jewish Jesus online but many times the source of the information they stumble on is what we would call Hebrew Roots. First Fruits of Zion is part of Messianic Judaism, and there are some important distinctions. The community of faith is composed of both Jews and Gentiles. But despite us being “one in Messiah,” First Fruits of Zion believes that it is important to maintain our unique identities. Why do we think so, and how do we advise Jews and Gentiles to avoid blurring the lines of distinction? Acts 15 documents an important time in the life of the apostles when they decided on the course of faith for Gentiles who were coming to faith in the Jewish Messiah. What does this passage teach about Jewish and Gentile obligations to the Law? The Sabbath and the Jewish festivals are full of richness in meaning and blessing.
