It is a traditional meal that celebrates the sparing of life when God sent His angel of death over Egypt. In Exodus 12, Moses retells the story of when God instructs the Israelites to sacrifice a lamb and paint the doorposts with the blood. And when the angel of death would encounter the painted door post, he would PASS OVER, leaving the family unharmed. This meal points to the eternal lamb of the New Testament, Jesus Christ (John 1:29)!
