In this inspiring episode, I'm joined by Kelly Pietrangeli  - soul mentor, retreat leader and podcast host. Kelly and I first met many years ago in the early days of our businesses, and it's been such a joy to witness her journey, especially as she's recently made a bold shift in her work. Kelly shares how she pivoted from running a very practical business helping busy mothers to organize their lives, to stepping fully into a more spiritual path - or as she calls it, coming out of the "woo woo closet." We talk about how scary it can feel to shift your business when you've built up a strong following and reputation, and how Kelly navigated this transition in an authentic and courageous way. We also dive into: Why Kelly found it easier to share vulnerable stories through her podcast The mindset shifts Kelly had to make to fully embrace her new direction The power of visibility and what it has done for Kelly's business and confidence How Kelly overcame fears of judgment, including from people close to her Towards the end of the episode, Kelly reflects on her time in my group visibility mastermind, SEEN, which I run once a year for a small group of just 5 business owners. I'll be opening the doors again in September. If you'd like to be the first to hear when it opens, join the waitlist at vickiknights.co.uk/mastermind. Connect with Kelly:

Do you ever feel like you’re just going through the motions, getting by on autopilot, even with the things you supposedly want to do? Kelly suggests living more consciously by thinking of your life as an exciting, ongoing project.  To do that, you can use the Project Me Life Wheel, which has eight areas of life on it: Productivity & time mangement Family Health Love Work Fun Money Personal growth You do a quick assessment for each area of your life, using prompts, to see how things have been going in each area. It isn’t about making your life perfect. It’s more about seeing what areas of your life are pretty consistently going okay and where you might want to put some attention.  From there, you take ideas about changes you want to make and create an action sheet. The key is to make a choice to focus. Even if you feel like all areas of your life need work, choose where you will focus this month—and remember you can choose a new focus next month.  For December specifically, having a plan can make what can be a hectic month so much better. Start with questions like What was the best part of last December? What was the worst? What do I have to do? What do I want to do? Then think about what you want more and less of, what you will stop and start, what your challenges are, what you need to figure out. What is your holiday wish list? What do you want from yourself? Take all of that to create your dream December.  Write down how you want to feel this month. Keep it front and center.  Then make sure you are incorporating what you want into your day. That means making a plan for the day that includes the things you said you want and avoids the things you didn’t want. Once you've filled in all these lovely little spaces and Once you've gotten clear about what you want out of December and what you don't want, … make sure that you're doing things each day from that in December.  Bio Kelly Pietrangeli is the creator of myprojectme.com and author of the book Project Me for Busy Mothers. Kelly is on a mission to help women step out of auto-pilot and into higher levels of conscious living. As a mother herself with two teenagers, she understands the struggle with the juggle. Her website and book are a treasure trove of resources and inspiration.  She also runs an online membership club called Project WE to help women who want to work on their lives alongside Kelly and a super supportive community. Links Plan your dream December Life Wheel  Mia’s Advent Calendar Making Class Mia’s Make Today Matter 5-Day Challenge 3 doable things Assess your life. Take a few minutes and look at the different areas of your life. This doesn’t have to take long. Make it fun. Take yourself out to a cafe and give yourself a little time. Give each of the eight categories a rating of 1–10 (10 doesn’t mean perfect). Pat yourself on the back for things that are going well. Notice where you might want to shed some attention in the next month. Pick one life area to work on. Choose one life area that could use a little attention. What’s going to make a difference here? List 1–3 things you can do to make an improvement in this area. Plan your Dream December. Get really clear on how you want this month to feel. Know what you want more and less of. Think back to last December to learn from it. Then design a December you love (right now is a great time to be doing this work). Keep your vision front and center and use it daily to set up a plan that aligns with your vision.

"It soon hit me that all of the best parenting classes in the world are not going to work if you – the mother – are feeling stressed out, unsupported, overwhelmed or aren’t taking care of yourself properly. When some parts of your life are not running smoothly, it has a knock on effect on everything else." -Kelly Pietrangeli In Episode 36, I talk with Kelly Pietrangeli, founder and "Mama Motivator" of the Project Me for Busy Mothers website and author of the brand new book by the same name. We talked about so many things, including how important it is for moms to take care of themselves. Kelly created the Project Me Life Wheel as a tool to help herself - and now other moms - regularly assess and work on different areas of life, tackling one issue at a time rather than overwhelming ourselves with all the issues at once. This episode is a great reminder that by taking care of ourselves, we become much better parents! Here's the review I wrote for Amazon about Project Me for Busy Mothers: I've been a fan of Kelly Pietrangeli's website and weekly email newsletter for several years. She calls herself the "Mama Motivator," and that is an accurate description. Her colorful book, Project Me for Busy Mothers, offers simple, actionable strategies for moms to address and improve one area of life at a time. Plus, it makes your day more cheerful just seeing the book in front of you! Ranging from health to relationships to productivity and much more, Kelly offers excellent strategies for taking on our most important project - ourselves! Reading Kelly's book is like a personal strategic planning session. By sharing her own story, and helping us focus on just one area at a time, Kelly makes Project Me a fun, do-able project for busy moms! Back in 2012, Kelly Pietrangeli and her friends had a brilliant idea for a book. Project Me was all about helping busy mothers balance their lives with more effective time management, productivity skills and goal-setting, using tools techniques they'd developed for their own lives.  They began to write, but then: 'It just occurred to me one day, how are we going to get a book deal on this book called Project Me, when we have no website, no social media platform whatsoever, like who are we, you know? We're just a couple of mothers who are writing this book.' She persuaded her friends to do it backwards, taking the content they'd written and putting it out on a website. She built a blog, a community and an online programme, and before too long she found herself the focus of a bidding war with several publishers vying to sign her up. 'That's what the book has come from, from a book idea into a website, into online programs and coaching, and now full circle.' Kelly's story might just transform the way you think about your book and your platform, and how they work together.

Kelly didn't really realize how important quiet time in the morning was to her.  Before she had children, she lived and worked in London and had at least an hour of quiet time to herself every morning. Even on the underground, she would have her eyes closed or bury herself deep in a book.   Then she had her first baby. She was not prepared for that sudden lack of quiet morning time before she had to be with other people. Waking up each morning and jumping into mommy mode was incredibly challenging for Kelly.   Gradually, Kelly found her way back to that quiet morning time. At first, it was just on the weekends when her husband let her sleep in and have some extra time to herself. Then she challenged herself to take 15 minutes before her kids got up to set herself up for the best day possible. Building on that success, Kelly has even found other ways to add daily practices to her busy life. Today Kelly has a morning practice she can't imagine living without. It's developed slowly over time and continues to change and evolve. Listen to Kelly's story of all the ways she incorporates daily practice into her life and what it has come to mean to her and her family.

When was the last time you asked somebody for feedback? Maybe from your partner, your work, or your kids?  We discuss the importance of feedback, specifically how to give it, and how to receive it.  We also discuss Phillip Seymour Hoffman's tragic death and how these real life situations can be discussed in the home (for children who are old enough to understand). We end by talking to Kelly Pietrangeli from MyProjectMe.com  Her website and Facebook page is for busy moms, and it's all about self care.
