Hello listeners, it's been a while. This episode features mockups of examples from three different horror podcasts Bailey loves, with a few poems thrown in for good measure. The poems "And The Crickets Were The Only Welcoming Sound" and "Adopt-A-Lesbian" both were written by me, Bailey Rodfield. Get ready for a spine-chilling episode as I take you to the very haunted Torre Abbey in Torquay, Devon. I had the privilege of meeting with Social Historian Dr Kevin Dixon, who shared some fascinating insights into the occult history of the town, recently named the most haunted in England. We also delved into the world of pixies, cunning folk, and more. Stay tuned for a truly eerie experience! Listen out for three knocks on the recording that seemed to emanate from the table we were sitting at for our chat. It was very fitting that Kevin had been talking about the spiritualist movement and seances. Perhaps a spirit trying to join our conversation? This episode is filled with intriguing paranormal experiences, making it a must-listen for all our curious listeners. I'm deeply grateful to Kevin for sharing his profound knowledge and insights. Please note, there is a section where Kevin reveals some startling information about belief in changelings, which may be unsettling for some listeners. Thank you for listening! Enjoy the episode. His work has been published in The Guardian, Right Hand Pointing, failbetter, The Tulsa Review, and was nominated by eMerge Magazine for the Pushcart Prize. Together with Torres Fine Art, he is finishing a three-part collaborative ekphrasis project “Empire of Missed Chances” examining the limitations and definitions of gender identity - visit torresfineart.com/emc-store for more information. YouTube link to my performance at Carefree Queer Fest: https://youtu.be/5kh0J1A-6GE This episode was the result of two weeks of daily editing, and several months of writing and recording. Please share it wherever and however you can. In it, we revisit The Pit (tm) from last season, and try our hardest to get out of it. Join Bailey Rodfield for a completely normal and totally ordinary episode where she is chased around her mindscape by a horrifying monster she cannot quite identify. Will her and her other headmates be able to fight back against their long time enemy, self-doubt? Listen and discover for yourself! ...I told you I would bring back Bim, Adarius, and Carly, didn't I? This episode contains heavy themes of mental health, drug use, trauma, and self loathing. Please be aware of this as you move into it. Original poems "another poem I attack myself in", "I will always find you", "Hey Bailey", and "I Am Tempest" all by me, Bailey Rodfield. This episode would not be possible without the work of Inspector J and the other good folx at Freesound.org. Many of the sound effects used in this work are made by them. I did record and make a few myself, but a good chunk of them are used under the Creative Commons License. The soundscape for The Pit (tm) is "Dark Dank Cave" from Sword Coast Soundscapes. In this episode, we explore different aspects, anxieties, heartbreak, and fears related to being around other people. Loving them, befriending them, holding them close... losing them, the fear of their impermanence. This episode features two poems, "Stay", and "I'm Gonna Die In Oklahoma", from Tulsa's own Autumn Rain. Autumn is a 20-something trans woman suffering in Oklahoma. Her interests include dreams, horror, liminality and the hubris of man. She is an artist, photographer and overall really cool girl. Someday she hopes to leave the South and be worthy of the woman she became 3 years ago. The episode thumbnail for this episode was taken by Autumn Rain. Original poems "hell is other people", "dichotomous thoughts", "I'm losing you and it's effortless", and "maybe impermanence" by me, Bailey Rodfield. Original music featured in "Stay" is the song "Bittersweet", by Kevin McCleod. Sections of George Strait's "Tell Me Something Wrong About Tulsa" and the titular song from the musical "Oklahoma!" are used in this work. A portion of Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray is played by me, Bailey Rodfield. I'm delighted to bring you a very short sweet taste of a conversation I had recently with the food writer Gurdeep Loyal. I've followed Gurdeep's work for a few years now, and have always been in great admiration of what he does; not only in his own writing, and not even just in his platforming of other people's work on his site and instgram page Mother Tongue, but also just in his general enthusiasm, charm and fostering of connections and community within food. His debut cookbook, also called Mother Tongue, is published this week and celebrates his heritage as -as Gurdeep himself puts it: "a descendant of Punjabi farmers and Leicester market traders.” This is part of a much longer interview over breakfast of crab crumpets - recipe in Mother tongue - which you can hear over on the Lecker Patreon or via Apple Podcasts subscription. For the final episode of season 1, Rich Hurst of West Bromwich Albion and Alan Keegan from Manchester United speak to George Sephton of Liverpool, who's now in his 50th season as stadium announcer. There are stories galore, from a man who's seen and heard it all, and had the ultimate compliment from Jurgen Klopp. He was there the last time Liverpool won the league and talks about how very different a lot of things are now, not just because of Covid. His voice is unmistakable, even if he does have to remind the odd new face on the Anfield security staff by spontaneously saying 'there will be two minutes added time' to get past.Rate and review us please!Email the host richard@giftedgab.co.ukMUSIC: District Four by Kevin McCleod
