Ryan Reynolds has sent fans into a frenzy with a recent Instagram post. Reynolds has released a first look at Wolverine and Deadpool in their costumes for Deadpool 3. The photo showcases the superhero pair walking side-by-side, but it's Wolverine's attire that has garnered particular attention. For fans of the X-Men comics, Wolverine's classic yellow costume is instantly recognizable and holds a special place in their hearts. However, despite Hugh Jackman's iconic portrayal of Wolverine for over two decades, the beloved yellow suit and mask have never made an appearance in the films. This glimpse into Deadpool 3 gives fans hope that they will finally see Wolverine donning the fan-favorite costume. In Deadpool 3, Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine, surprising fans who believed his portrayal had concluded with 2017's Logan. While EA did not release any screenshots or videos of the game, they did confirm that it will be an original third-person, single-player adventure developed in collaboration with Marvel Games. Kevin Stephens, the former studio head of Monolith Productions during the development of the Shadow of Mordor franchise, is leading the project. The team at Cliffhanger includes individuals who have previously worked on titles such as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Halo Infinite, God of War, and Call of Duty. The prospect of a Black Panther game from the minds behind Shadow of Mordor is undeniably exciting. Shadow of Mordor, released in 2014, received acclaim for its immersive storytelling, open-world exploration, and the innovative Nemesis System. This patented system allows non-playable characters to remember their interactions with the protagonist and dynamically respond to them. EA's intention with the Black Panther game is to create an expansive and reactive world, enabling players to experience what it's like to assume the mantle of Wakanda's protector, the Black Panther. This suggests that the game may incorporate similar mechanics to the groundbreaking Nemesis System. While fans eagerly anticipate delving into the world of Wakanda, it's important to note that the Black Panther game is still in its early stages of development. In our world today it can be difficult to hear the voice of our Good Shepherd Jesus Christ. We are constantly bombarded with noise and anxieties which seek to distract us. These other voices though do not bring the Good News that the voice of Jesus brings, they cannot. So how do we cut through the noise? Fr. Kevin Stephens, O.P. offers his thoughts and reminds us: The voice of Jesus is the voice we have been hardwired to hear. It is the voice that we have always and will always look for. It is easy for us to panic, to become anxious or worried and to lose perspective. Fr. Kevin Stephens, O.P., reminds us that even Jesus was "deeply troubled." Christ has taken on our flesh, carried our sins, and he can take our worries and anxieties as well. We may be troubled, but we must trust in the Lord. For like it says in Isaiah, if we are like a polished arrow in the hands of God, we know that we shall find our mark.

For the daily readings to accompany these preachings see the USCCB. Fr. Kevin Stephens, O.P., asks us to look at the question of fear. In both the first reading and in the Gospel passage, a woman fears for her life. We too, in our own lives, suffer from fears, both ordinary and extraordinary. But Psalm 23, our responsorial psalm, reminds us of an essential truth: God always walks beside us. Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, God remains by our side. When we turn to him in prayer it is not so much that we are asking for some supernatural miracle or for God to somehow 'change his mind' but we are turning to him and asking for the reassurance that is his Presence. Lord, grant us your peace and help us to recognize your Presence which never leaves us.

Kevin Stephens, O.P., calls our attention to the fear and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 as a reality which brings us to greater solidarity with the fear and anxiety of the past. He helps us to identify with the man who begs Jesus to heal his son, and to save his son from death. That man believed that Jesus could save his son, and Jesus rewarded his faith with the healing he asked for. This reminds us of the power of God's providence; that we can believe with equal assurance that God has not forgotten us, and that there is light and peace waiting on the other side of trial.

Tonight I'm delighted to be staying in Wales and heading down the border country to the Black Mountains near Hay on Wye to talk to farmer, Kevin Stephens.  We talk about the beautiful area of Wales where he lives, and his family farm there, before going on to hear about how he fell into computing at Aberystwyth University and eventually bought himself one and taught himself to wrote software. We hear some of the different jobs he did after graduation, including working for the National Farmer's Union, where he designed and built their first management information system, which is still in use today.  We then hear the amazing story about how he got into growing daffodils on his farm at 1200ft. The stress of growing at altitude causes the plant to produce more galanthamine, which is extracted and used as a drug to slow down the progression of Alzheimer's disease. We hear about the whole process, how it came about, how they're planted into permanent pasture, and how they're harvested, before going on to talk about his company Agroceutical, and some of the challenges they face in rolling the drug out on a large scale. All this and much, much more. Some things come up again and again in learning needs analyses, whatever the organisation, whatever the circumstances, and "assertiveness skills" (or something similar) is one of those things.It crops up in the middle of loads of different structured training courses, it forms part of many coaching relationships, even pops up on teambuilding workshops from time to time. It seems like many of us human beings just aren't naturally that great at being assertive in a positive way, we tend to be either naturally passive or naturally aggressive, and struggle to calibrate assertiveness correctly.In this episode, Kevin Stephens talks us through his approach to running an assertiveness workshop. As always with Kevin, it's a very practical and active approach that I hope has some good ideas for others facing the same learner needs.

How we begin learning events is vital in setting the right tone for the day.To get the best learning, we want to create a creative a safe environment that is fun and allows for people to express themselves playfully, allows for mistakes, lets people feel that they can challenge and be challenged, and above all exposes the learners to views and perspectives different than their own.There is no one single magic bullet for achieving this, it's done through lots of little things that together contribute to building that learning environment.In this (short!) episode I speak to Kevin Stephens about a simple technique he uses to kick off change management training. Kevin's whole approach to training is to focus on creating the conditions for learning using accelerated learning techniques, and in this episode he introduces us to a quick and way to start that process off.
