In the finale of our four-part #ECPod special, we take a look back at Namibia's 2003 World Cup campaign, as reflected on by players, staff members, and budding young cricketers at the time who would go on and play for the country. Namibia's original World Cup group reflect on making history, while the next generation discuss the importance of “carrying the torch” for the game in the country at the 2021 Men's T20 World Cup and beyond.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup start in just one month and the squads have been announced. In this episode of The Hundred Club, Rich and Tom analyse the squads and make some predictions for the tournament. Who can challenge England and West Indies in Group 1? Do the Australians have the form and youth to win a T20 World Cup before the current generation retire? Can anyone challenge India in Group 2? Will Afghanistan be able to participate in the competition, or will Bangladesh win Group B to mix up an open looking league stage? Ireland's men only managed to pick up 10 points out of a possible 60 in the Super League series against Afghanistan and The Netherlands. The latter was a particularly disappointing result given how the Dutch were missing their three best middle order batters. For this episode, I'm joined by Cricket Europe writer Odran Flynn, who explains why he believes Irish Cricket is at a crossroads. We also discuss Ireland's prospects in the Cricket World Cup Super League and how they're shaping up ahead of Round 1 of the Men's T20 World Cup.
