The Lucknow Super Giants splashed a massive amount of cash on Rishabh Pant in the Indian Premier League 2025 mega-auction. But things went horribly wrong for both Pant and his franchise this season. LSG failed to make it to the playoffs, and Pant endured a historic low in the competition.Questions were raised about Pant's ability as a T20 batter and as a leader of the side. In the latest episode of the Sledging Room podcast, Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar, and Kingshuk Kusari discuss what went wrong with the Lucknow-based franchise and their captain. They also delve into the fortunes of the Delhi Capitals — Pant's former side — who failed to qualify for the playoffs despite starting the tournament in riveting fashion.Delhi amassed a strong squad this season but suffered an incredible collapse in the second half. Constant changes in their batting order and the failure of their spinners in the final few matches overshadowed individual brilliance from the likes of KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs. Delhi were also hurt by the failure of their management, who were unable to provide the squad with the right replacements when needed. Here's a recap of the near misses from this season of the tournament, with a special focus on the future of LSG captain Rishabh Pant.Produced by Prateek LidhooSound mix by Suraj Singh

Featuring in this episode: Aditya Joshi (Team Sports Katta) https://x.com/aditya1387 Amol Karhadkar (Deputy Editor, The Hindu) https://x.com/karhacter "Mumbai Indians' match against Delhi Capitals is as crucial as a quarter-final for Mumbai. The equation is simple: if they win this match, they will secure their playoff ticket directly. However, if Mumbai loses this match, they will have to rely on 'if-then' scenarios based on the performance of other teams. Lucknow Super Giants, who performed impressively in the initial stages of the IPL, have ended their journey in the tournament with two matches still remaining. Rishabh Pant's current form is definitely a matter of concern for them. Additionally, Aditya Joshi of 'Weekly Katta' had a detailed discussion with Amol Karhadkar, a sports journalist from 'The Hindu,' on various topics, including whether there were any unexpected announcements in the selection of India's 'A' team for the England tour." PBKS ne Diya Rishabh Pant ko Munh Tod Jawaab! | Saade Aala RadioIn this explosive episode of Saade Aala Radio, we break down how Punjab Kings absolutely demolished Rishabh Pant's team, LSG, chasing them out of the stadium after setting a massive 236-run target!
IPL 2025 is now in its final stage. Therefore, there is intense competition for the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the three teams that have been eliminated from the playoffs race. The remaining seven teams are fighting for four spots. So, the excitement has increased. If Lucknow Super Giants want to advance, they will have to win all their matches. This is only possible if Rishabh Pant regains his form. It is also important from the perspective of India's England tour. Kagiso Rabada has returned to Gujarat Titans after a one-month ban. What is the exact reason for that, and many such topics have been discussed by Aditya Joshi of 'Sports Katta' with Sumedh Naik. Sumedh is making his debut on 'Sports Katta'. For many years, he has been writing about cricket for various websites and also runs his own channel." Just a week ago, everyone had written off the Mumbai Indians. But with four straight wins and a squad clicking in perfect rhythm, they've roared back into the spotlight. The five-time champions aren't just winning—they're dominating, playing with the swagger and confidence of a team that knows exactly how to conquer titles. In contrast, Rishabh Pant - acquired for a record-breaking Rs 27 crore to lead Lucknow Super Giants - has looked a shadow of his once-destructive self. After nine matches this season, he has mustered just 106 runs, with 63 of those coming in a single knock against CSK. Pant has always thrived when brimming with confidence, but at LSG, he seems jaded and weighed down by expectations. His strike rate of 96.36 is alarmingly low for someone of his caliber. Part of the issue could be his constant shuffle in the batting order, never quite settling into one role. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have retained their spots in the Grade A+ bracket of the BCCI central contracts despite stepping away from T20Is. We break down how the BCCI arrived at that decision. In the latest episode of the Sledging Room podcast, Saurabh Kumar, Kingshuk Kusari, and Alan Jose John dissect the central contracts, Pant's struggles, and Mumbai Indians' roaring comeback in IPL 2025. Are the Chennai Super Kings confused? And is MS Dhoni part of the problem? Is the impact player rule leading to fewer competitive games? Will the return of Jasprit Bumrah change the fortunes of the Mumbai Indians? Why isn't the fielding better? Is it time to reinvest in pace bowlers? And much more! In this episode of the show, Raj and Stu look back at two midweek games: Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans. We start by discussing the most recent game, which saw Gujarat spoil Raj's return to our IPL coverage with a dominant win in Bengaluru. Mohammed Siraj knocked the top off the RCB batting lineup and despite a recovery through the middle and a messy fielding performance from GT, it turned out that 169 wasn't close to enough. Sai Sudharsan set the platform for GT in the powerplay, before Jos Buttler's 73 guided them home. Next we move to Punjab's impressive win against LSG. There's talk about Shreyas Iyer's excellent run of form, PBKS's Indian core doing the business, LSG's absences, Nicholas Pooran's ball-striking and whether it's time to start worrying about Rishabh Pant's lack of runs. To finish, there's a quick look ahead to the upcoming SRH v KKR clash - a 2024 final rematch that now shapes as an important fixture for different reasons in 2025. We continue our IPL preview for 2025 with discussions about Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. LSG enter this year with a much changed team. Rishabh Pant is the big signing, but do him and Pooran have enough between them to elevate the Super giants? Delhi Capitals look to have improved in some areas, and come in with a bowling attack featuring players like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. However on the batting side things look weaker, what will happen to them in this year's Indian Premier League? And Chennai Super Kings have re-upped on their spin heavy approach. Ashwin is back and he will be joined by Noor Ahmed, as they make an effort to help MS Dhoni win another trophy. India's T20I side is looking formidable after a dominant 4-1 series win over England at home, continuing their impressive run in the shortest format of the game. Under Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy, India have established a settled line-up in T20Is. Young talents are excelling, while senior players are embracing greater responsibility. The template set by Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid prior to the T20 World Cup triumph has been maintained, with a few lovely updates. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have stood out as openers, showcasing fearless cricket at the top of the order. They have been brilliantly backed by captain Suryakumar and coach Gautam Gambhir. Tilak Varma has also cemented his place in the XI with consistent performances. Barring the established trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Kuldeep Yadav, questions arise about whether there is room for other star players to return without disrupting the current balance of the T20I side. Leading up to the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Rahul Dravid-led management reintroduced Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja. While the trio delivered strong performances, their return impacted team continuity and limited opportunities for emerging players. Can Gautam Gambhir resist the temptation to reintegrate superstars? What will happen when Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant become available for T20Is? Will they be considered, and how will their inclusion affect the current dynamics? In the latest episode of the Sledging Room Podcast, we also delve into the build-up to the Champions Trophy, as India and England prepare for a three-match ODI series starting on 6 February. Tune in! Australia started day two 1-9 and were bowled out for 181 despite Jasprit Bumrah going off for what looked like scans. Beau Webster scored a maiden Test match half-century and Steve Smith fell one good shot short of reaching 10,000 Test runs. Holding a 4-run lead, India were in trouble due to Scott Boland before Rishabh Pant exploded with 61 off 33 balls. The game is right in the balance at stumps, with India 6 for 141, a lead of 145. Australia added just the six runs to their overnight score before Nathan Lyon became Jasprit Bumrah’s fifth wicket of the innings. It meant India needed 340 runs to win but from the outset they were digging in for the draw. Pat Cummins took two wickets in an over and then Mitch Starc got Virat Kohli before lunch to put Australia on top. But Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant batted through the afternoon session to put the draw back in sights. It took Travis Head’s golden arm/finger and a rash shot by Pant to get the breakthrough and from there Australia held every catch, got every review right and bowled India out for 155 to win by 184 runs and lead the series 2-1 heading into Sydney! Australia India Daily, 4th Test, Melbourne Day 3: One of the great MCG hundreds, on a day with a wonder that you might not expect if you just looked at the score. India were down and out after the first session, with Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja lopped off. What followed was an extraordinary display of character and skill from a pair of young players who will always have this day. Thanks to them, the match remains alive. India started the day at 5-165 and were reduced to 7-221 inside 65 overs courtesy of an outrageous shot/dismissal from Rishabh Pant then Nathan Lyon removing his spin counterpart Ravindra Jadeja. But then Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar combined for a stoic 127-run 8th wicket stand to defy Australia's push for victory. Sundar made 50 but fell with Reddy needing three more runs for his century. Some late drama wouldn't deny a maiden Test hundred as bad light stopped play with rain bringing an early stumps. At the close of play, India are 9-358, trailing Australia by 116 runs. Izzy Westbury and Callum Ferguson recap the action for you. Australia won the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 10 wickets to level the series 1-all. Mitch Starc dismissed Rishabh Pant in the first over of the day and it was pretty much all Australia from there. Pat Cummins took his 13th five-wicket haul to bowl out India for 175, with Nitish Kumar Reddy top scoring with 42 and the Aussies dropping a couple of catches. Needing just 19 to win, Australia's openers needed only 20 balls to reach the target and it's all square! Pus, Jemma Barsby drops in to talk Australia's big win over India in the 2nd ODI in Brisbane. Australia India Daily, 2nd Test, Adelaide Day 2: If we thought Day 1 was hectic, Day 2 did not slow down at all. We thought it had for a while in the first session as Marnus Labuschagne rebuilt his game, but when wickets started to fall then it was time for Travis Head to change gears as only he can. Whooshka. Fights with Siraj, booing and carrying on, more Bumrah moments, then a fiery final session as Australia's bowlers showed their experience of the conditions. A major turnaround, with Rishabh Pant the remaining chance for a late twist. Come to our live shows! On this week's episode, we talk about 46 all out, India's second innings recovery and collapse and then finally India's first test loss to New Zealand since 1988. We also talk Sarfaraz Khan's maiden test match hundred, Rishabh Pant's 99, his 107 metre six off Tim Southee, India's big collapse and New Zealand's canter home. In this episode of the show, we celebrate an incredible week for New Zealand Cricket that culminated in a Test win in India for the Black Caps for the first time in 36 years and a T20 World Cup for the White Ferns within 12 hours of each other. We also look back at Pakistan's bold decisions against England and how they paid off to set up a mouth-watering decider in the third Test of that series. After opening with our thoughts, feelings and emotions as New Zealand fans, we start by discussing a White Ferns World Cup win that seemed almost unthinkable when the tournament began. It was a true team performance from New Zealand, and we highlight the key role players who played a huge part along the way, as well as focusing our attention on Amelia Kerr's remarkable few weeks. We then turn our attention to the Black Caps, who made history of their own this week by beating India in the first Test of the series - something they hadn't done for 36 years. There's plenty of praise for the bowlers - who skittled India for 46 in the first innings - the 'Rachin Ravindra is amazing' segment that has become a regular occurrence on the show over the past 12 months, as well as conversations about the toss and team selection. We also look at India's fightback, Sarfaraz's big hundred and what that means for the side going forward, Rohit Sharma's captaincy and much more as we break down this rollercoaster of a Test match. To round out the show, we review Pakistan's turnaround in the second Test against England, which saw a host of changes that made the selection panel look like geniuses when Kamran Ghulam, Sajid Khan and Nauman Ali starred as the team surged to victory. We'll be back again next week with more news and reviews from around the world.
