In today's episode, I'm excited to introduce you to Dr. Mamak Shakib. She is a rehab clinician, which means that she helps people with movement and stability in their bodies, especially people with hypermobility and pelvic floor dysfunction. She specializes in hypermobility syndromes like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I'm so glad to bring her expertise and insights to How Humans Heal. This is a very interesting conversation for me because I diagnosed myself with hypermobility syndrome after years of suffering from migraines and various other symptoms. So, if you're experiencing hypermobility that you already know of, or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), or other related syndromes, or if you simply are having pain including pelvic pain or pelvic floor issues, this episode is going to be really helpful for you. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has triggered a debate on the spirit of cricket before smashing a rapid 82 to eliminate Sri Lanka from the Cricket World Cup. An early appeal by Shakib led to Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews becoming the first player to be "timed out" in an international match when he failed to take guard at the crease within the two minutes required. Former player of the Nepali national cricket, Sunam Gautam, looks back at the fifth week of the tournament. He spoke to SBS Nepali about the world cup, and Nepal's recent success in being selected for the Men's T20 World Cup 2024.
Glenn Maxwell just played the greatest innings of all time. Australia somehow overcame Afghanistan in one of the craziest cricket matches in Cricket World Cup history. How did this happen, what did Glenn Maxwell just do? It's insane. And in more insanity, there was a timed out wicket in the Bangladesh v Sri Lanka match. Angelo Mathews and Shakib had beef, what on earth is going on in this tournament? Curtis Camper takes 4 wickets in 4 balls at the T20 Cricket World Cup and Scotland beat Bangladesh. We're 2 days in and already have had some sensational individual and team performances.G1 Oman v Papua New Guinea - 11am Sun 17th - First Round Group B, Al AmeratPAPUA NEW GUINEA 129/9 (20 overs)Assad Vala 56 (43) Charles Amini 37 (26) (MOM) Zeeshan Maqsood 4/20(4) Bilal Khan 2/16(4)OMAN 131/0 (13.4/20 ov, target 130)Jatinder Singh 73* (42) Aqib Ilyas 50* (43) Oman won by 10 wickets (with 38 balls remaining)The hosts got off to an emphatic start clinching a 10-wkt win, set up in large part by their experienced skipper Zeeshan Maqsood who ripped through the PNG middle order. PNG got off to a shocker of start sitting 0-2 in the 1st 9 balls but captain Assad Vala (56) and Charles Amini (37) got them up to 81. It all went downhill from here, staggering to 112-5 and then 129 a/o. Jatinder Singh (73*) and Aquib Ilyas (50*) then made light work of the PNG attack, comfortably getting home inside 14 overs to get them off to a flying start. No shortage of MOM nominees for Oman with the unbeaten openers and 2 wkts for quick Bilal Khan but it was the winning skipper, Zeeshan Maqsood that was rightly awarded the honor. Bangladesh, who will neup next for the hosts.G2 Bangladesh v Scotland - 3pm Sun 17th - First Round Group B (N), Al AmeratSCOTLAND 140/9 (20 overs)Chris Greaves 45 (28) George Munsey 29 (23) Mahedi Hasan (26 y/o little offie) 3/19(4) Shakib Al Hasan 2/17(4)BANGLADESH 134/7 (20 overs, Target 141)Mushfiqur Rahim 38 (36) Mahmudullah 23 (22) Brad Wheal 3/24(4) Chris Greaves 2/19(3)Scotland won by 6 runsAnother incredible team and individual performance in game 2, this time by Scotland who made life as difficult as possible for themselves before coming back to beat the favored Bangladeshis. Star for Scotland was Chris Greaves playing in only his 2nd game – and who was until recently working delivering parcels for Amazon – whose top score knock of 45 batting at 7 helped Scotland to 140/9 after they had slipped to 53/6, before snaffling 2/19 in the Bangladesh reply including the wicket of star batsman Shakib al-Hasan. As for Shakib, his 2 wickets established him as the leading wicket taker in T20i history – with 108 victims – one more than SL legend Lasith Malinga. Tim Southee (99) and Rashid Khan (95) will both be looking to catch him up! No time to wallow for the Lions as it's a tough one against the hosts Oman next.G3 Ireland v Netherlands - 11am - First Round Group A, Abu DhabiNETHERLANDS 106/10 (20 overs)Max O'Dowd 51 (47) Pieter Seelaar 21 (29) Curtis Campher 4/26(4) Mark Adair 3/9(4)IRELAND 107/3 (15.1 overs)Gareth Delany 44 (29) Paul Stirling* 30 (39) Fred Klaassen 1/18(3) Pieter Seelaar 1/14(2.1)Ireland won by 7 wickets (with 29 balls remaining)Another game, another young player stepping up… this time it was 22 y/o Joburg born Curtis Campher who put in a MOM performance to give Ireland a huge 1st win against this experienced Dutch side. Whilst Mark Adair took an impressive 3/9 in his 4 overs, it was Campher who will grab the headlines after taking 4 wkts in 4 balls in the 10th over – seeing off Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards and Roelof van der Merwe. After which, the Netherlands were 51 for 6 before setting Ireland the modest target of 107 thanks to a plucky 21 from skipper Pieter Seelaar. Paul Sterling's 30* and a fluid 44 off 29 balls from Gareth Delaney got Ireland close before he was dismissed, allowing MOM Campher to be in at the end with an unbeaten 7 to go with 4 mightily impressive wickets. Netherlands are up against it now. G4 Namibia v Sri Lanka - 3pm - First Round Group A (N), Abu DhabiNAMIBIA 96/10 (19.3 overs)Craig Williams 29(36) Gerhard Erasmus 20(19) Maheesh Theeksana 3/25(4) Lahiru Kumara 2/9(3.3) Hasaranga 2/24SRI LANKA 100/3 (13.3/20 ov, target 97)Bhanuka Rajapaksa 42*(27) Avishka Fernando 30*(28) JJ Smith, Tumpleman & Bernard Scholtz – 1 eachSri Lanka won by 7 wickets (with 39 balls remaining)Qualifying stage big boys SL got off to a solid 7 wicket win with time to spare over Namibia to round out day 2.The England Lions squad to tour Australia has been announced with Dom Sibley headlining the team.SquadTom Abell (Somerset), Josh Bohannon (Lancashire), James Bracey (Gloucestershire), Brydon Carse (Durham), Mason Crane (Hampshire), Matthew Fisher (Yorkshire), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Alex Lees (Durham), Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire), Liam Norwell (Warwickshire), Matt Parkinson (Lancashire), Dom Sibley (Warwickshire), Jamie Smith (Surrey), Rob Yates (Warwickshire).

When Joe Biden announced that US troops would pull out of Afghanistan, thousands of people rushed to Hamid Karzai International Airport where many lost their lives in the events that followed. Over 150 people died after a suicide bomber detonated his vest at a U.S. checkpoint just days before U.S. troops departure on August 31. We speak to two people working to get at-risk individuals through the Kabul airport and out of Afghanistan: Madi Williamson, based in Istanbul, is a nurse from Seattle, Washington who specializes in human-centered migratory health. She spent five years working with refugee populations in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. Shakib Noori, based in Washington, DC with over a decade of professional experience with private sector, NGO, and government institutions. Shakib is an Afghan-American. He has worked with many international organizations in and outside Afghanistan.
It is amazing how when the human's egotistic mind can't explain, it undermines! This episode is about some of the body parts that are commonly removed or claimed to have no use and explains how the claims are simply non-sense. The doors to the Hall of Fame are finally open, and in this episode Baldy walks three Englishmen, a West Indian and an Aussie past Nathan Lyon, Mark Waugh and Shakib al Hasan - our benchmark players who remain stuck in the foyer. We put six minutes on the clock as Baldy makes the case for each inductee, then talk longevity vs peak performance, wicketkeeping, legacies and whether it matters or not if people like you. Lippy finds a way to bring up a famous Black Caps win despite there not being a New Zealander in sight and Binksy apologises profusely to Baldy's family as we put these rankings under the microscope. As expected, there's plenty of debate and often we don't agree, so don't hesitate to continue the conversation by calling us out via email or on social media to share your views - or give us some praise if we've got things spot on! We'd love to hear what you think. SPOILER ALERT This episode features players from 100-96 in the following order: 100 - David Warner 99 - Graham Gooch 98 - Ian Bishop 97 - David Gower 96 - Alec Stewart For an even deeper dive on the theory and process behind the Hall, head to our https://www.thetoporderpodcast.com/hall-of-fame/welcome (website). You'll find the https://www.thetoporderpodcast.com/hall-of-fame/the-preamble (Preamble), plus https://www.thetoporderpodcast.com/hall-of-fame/the-list (the list), which will eventually feature detailed write-ups about every player from 103 to 1 as we make our way through the Hall in the coming weeks and months. Of course, regular programming will continue. We'll be interspersing episodes revealing players (95-91 will be next) with our This Week in Cricket shows and guest appearances. And if you haven't already, dip back into our recent episodes, which includes Jarrod Kimber taking us on a deep dive of New Zealand Cricket on and off the field, and evaluating the World Test Championship as a format, and Tim Southee talking about the pride the Black Caps felt after finally getting their hands on another ICC trophy. With the World Test Championship Final on the horizon this week, it's a feature-length episode as we break down New Zealand's historic Test series win against England and look forward to the big dance. We start the show with South Africa's crushing victory over the West Indies and Shakib al Hasan's tantrum, but it isn't long before Raj and Lippy are praising the Black Caps and celebrating NZ's first Test series win in England since 1999. There's a detour from the Black Caps squad to discuss England's batting woes, wonder who decided it was a good idea to give James Bracey the keeping gloves and ask if the ECB are disrespecting Test cricket. Spoiler alert: Binksy comes off the long run - shorter Ashes series, anyone? After we wrap up the England series, our attention turns to the World Test Championship Final. Who will New Zealand pick? Who would we pick? And can they beat this formidable Indian line up, featuring the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Ravi Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah? We're also delighted to be joined by DJ from the https://twitter.com/1tip1hand?s=20 (Edges and Sledges )podcast to help us look at the game from an Indian perspective. Is this the best ever Indian Test side? How much would a World Test Championship victory mean to Indian fans? Which spots in the XI are up for grabs? And who will win? We also featured on Edges and Sledges this week - they do some great work so we thoroughly recommend you check out their feed if you haven't already. The YouTube link to our appearance is available here. Keep an eye out on our social media feeds as we get excited about and react to the World Test Championship final. We also previewed the final with the team at https://twitter.com/gcbwpodcast?s=20 (Gully Cricket to Bouncy Wicket), so give them a follow, too. And if interviews are your thing, a chat with former Black Cap and new Wellington Cricket bowling coach Iain O'Brien will drop after we wrap up the WTC final. It's a new year but same Top Order Podcast, as we recap the final week of 2020. Baldy starts the show (0:45) with a deep dive into the BBL table and a few players who've caught the eye so far in that tournament, including Ollie Davies and Tanveer Sangha, before a quick review of the first South Africa/Sri Lanka Test, where injuries played a big part and Faf du Plessis's 199 set up a big win for the Proteas. We ask whether NZ needs to push for longer Test series, and ask whether David Warner, Steve Smith and Shakib al Hasan deserved to be honoured in ICC Teams of the Decade. As we move to the Australia v India series (24:00), we discuss a stunning response from India at the MCG to level the series. Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane all receive praise, Binksy signals a momentum shift, Baldy comes off the long run about Australian team selection and Raj talks about himself in the third person. We wrap up the show with the thrilling Boxing Day Test at Bay Oval (47:20), where the Blackcaps beat Pakistan just before time expired on Day 5. Kane Williamson moves to #1 in the Test rankings, Neil Wagner has all of us glowing and Mitchell Santner has us discussing a spinner taking the final wicket for NZ in home conditions. Pakistan, with the likes of Mohammad Rizwan, Fawad Alam, Faheem Ashraf and ‘Charlie' Shaheen Shah Afridi, played their part in an excellent Test, but do we give them any chance to level the series? A massive thanks to everyone who has listened to us so far - it really means a lot. If you're a new listener to the podcast, check out our back catalogue.
