This episode was as inevitable as a blue Dreamcast case with its hinges broken off. Of course the Junkyard was going to record an episode to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the SEGA Dreamcast's October 14th 1999 launch in PAL regions! Blue swirl for life, mate. In fact, celebrating this occasion was so important that we even managed to convince Junkyard founder Tom Charnock to emerge from his coffin and host the damn thing. Listen in as Tom, James, Andrew and Lewis share their memories of the Dreamcast, and provide a retrospective on the highs and lows (looking at you, Australian launch!) of the Dreamcast's venture into Europe and other PAL regions. There's also one of James' 10-questions quizzes to wrap up the episode... but will Tom, Andrew and Lewis fare better at the quiz than OziSoft did at launching the Dreamcast Down Under?Relevant Links:Order Dreamcast: Year One & Year Two booksDreamcast Premiere PostersSega Dreamcast Info page on the Dreamcast launch in FranceHow the Dreamcast almost went unreleased in the NetherlandsSEGA-16 Interview with José Ángel Sánchez (SEGA Spain)Australian Launch Retrospective VideoMusic featured:Metropolis Street Racer - "Heartland"Monaco Grand Prix - "Japan"Dead or Alive 2 - "What's My Name"Nijuuei - "BGM #13"SEGA Marine Fishing - "The Offing"Looking for more Dreamcast Junkyard goodness? The first of two episodes from the boys' first in-person meetup, "Live at the Premier Inn" was recorded at a sad hotel in Brentford, a town where there's little else to do except drink (though, not past 11 p.m.) and record podcasts. As such, this episode has no real agenda, touching on everything from Metropolis Street Racer, to the recently-relaunched Hotshot Racing, and even Virtua Tennis. Treat it as a bonus episode — there's another, less scatterbrained one coming soon!
Do you hear that sound? Can you feel it? The cool ocean breeze in your hair, the salt on your tongue. Sit back, relax, and get ready to catch...the Last Wave.Enter the Last Wave Year Two, where the jams just keep gettin' smoother...if that's even possible at this point, I don't know. But we've got incredible hot air balloon action, Alaska golf courses, high rolling casinos, stock market simulators, and Richard Jacques laying it down for the Sega Dreamcast. Plus we take back-to-back strolls down Itadaki Street, where the slimes are too cool for school.DOWNLOAD - THE LAST WAVE (11/17/19)PlaylistCustomize - Yasuyuki Suzuki(Kaze no Notam, Playstation)BGM #7 - K. Join us and celebrate Sega's swansong console with our stories and memories. We wax nostalgic about Dreamcast classics like Soul Calibur, Shenmue, and many others as Nuno and Brian debate the enduring merits of Sonic Adventure 2.
SEGA Mixer Drive hostess and newly appointed OverClocked Remix judge Rexy brings the dance tunage on this week's Last Call. Episode 12 of DreamPod has it all. Sort of. Not only does Caleb treat the team to his best 'I can't come to work because I'm sick' voice, but Tom, Gaz and Rob also discuss the finer (and not so fine) points of Metropolis Street Racer; the 'Save Shenmue HD' bandwagon; and the DreamPod's nomination for a UK Podcasters Award. The second half of the episode comprises the gang answering questions from listeners, and topics include Rob's real time strategy version of Rival Schools 2, the most desirable Dreamcast special editions, and Zero Gunner versus Under Defeat. If you'd like to vote for DreamPod in the UK Podcast Awards, search 'UK Podcast Awards,' and vote DreamPod!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dcjunkyard)
