Rock 'n' Roll- Brotherhood vom Feinsten!

For over 20 years, the quintet — Chris Motionless [vocals], Ricky Olson [guitar], Ryan Sitkowski [guitar], Vinny Mauro [drums], and Justin Morrow [bass] — have resided in their own shadowy corner of alternative music and culture. The group's uncanny alchemy of metal, hardcore, goth, industrial, and electronic has magnetically attracted an ardent audience, fueling a quiet rise out of the Rust Belt and into arenas as a headlining force of nature. Their D.I.Y. work ethic drives the evolution of an immersive world where stunning visuals match the scope of the sound. The collective come full circle on their seventh full-length offering Decades. For as much as it conjures their signature style, the LP sees them continue to confidently cut a path through uncharted territory, spreading a little darkness in their wake.”Hosted by: Luke = https://www.youtube.com/@rockednet Alex = https://www.youtube.com/@voiceofalex

This week we're talking about that guy again… The 2nd episode focused on EDGUY in another edition of our “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. A German power metal band that Kevin affectionately calls “Helloween Jr.”. This episode starts at the peak of their provocative power metal prowess and ends with their evolution to a hard-rocking power glam powerhouse. They did well in Europe and other parts of the world, but we think they Shoulda Been Huge in the States! This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. A German band that followed in the footsteps of Helloween, flying the flag of “Power Metal” from the late 90s to 2014. Unfortunately, they were never really recognized to the degree they deserve outside of Europe. We think they SHOULDA BEEEN HUGE… and we are ready to fly that banner proudly! Songs this week include: Edguy - “Mysteria” from Hellfire Club (2004) Edguy - “Superheroes” from Superheroes – EP (2005) Edguy - “Rocket Ride” from Rocket Ride (2006) Edguy - “Nine Lives” from Tinnitus Sanctus (2008) Edguy - “Lavatory Love Machine (Live)” from Fucking With Fire (Live In Sao Paolo 2006) (2009) Edguy - “Pandora's Box” from Age Of The Joker (2011) Edguy - “Love Tyger” from Space Police – Defenders Of The Crown (2014)   Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://twitter.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

We ALSO talk about Vinnie Vincent making a big bet on himself by selling CDs with a single song for $300. God, I would love to have his confidence. In OLD GUY HARDCORE news: NJ Bloodline is BEEFING with Joe Hardcore over making boots of their old shirts. Why? That's what hardcore is all about! Geezer Butler is using AI to try to make new music and that's fuckin' pathetic. The former vocalist of Dragonforce put together a modern “reimagined” version of Through the Fire and Flames and it sucks. Finally, we put the Dogma drama to rest with a definitive statement on who is behind the vast exploitation machine. Folks… it's a good one. "Programa 359. Welcome to this week's episode of the PEBCAK Podcast!  We've got four amazing stories this week so sit back, relax, and keep being awesome!  Be sure to stick around for our Dad Joke of the Week. (DJOW) Follow us on Instagram @pebcakpodcast   Please share this podcast with someone you know!  It helps us grow the podcast and we really appreciate it!   2016: The Dawn of Modern Ransomware The debut of Petya and Russian-affiliated groups like CryptoWall, TeslaCrypt, and Locky. Attacks were largely indiscriminate, targeting anyone from Fortune 500 companies to "Grandma's laptop." Early mitigation tactics, like installing Russian language packs to avoid infection, highlighted the state-tolerated nature of these groups.   2017: Ransomware Goes Mainstream A pivotal year with the WannaCry attack (attributed to North Korea's Lazarus Group) and NotPetya (Russian-backed), causing billions in damages to companies in multiple verticals. The SAMSAM attacks hit U.S. cities like Baltimore and Atlanta, marking Iran's brief foray into ransomware. Ransomware became a household name, sparking executive-level discussions in boardrooms.   2020: The Rise of Ransomware-as-a-Service Groups like Ryuk, REvil, and Conti refined ransomware into a business model, outsourcing tasks like initial access and money laundering. Double extortion emerged, with attackers stealing data and threatening to leak it, even if backups were restored. Some groups introduced “terms of service,” avoiding hospitals and schools to dodge law enforcement scrutiny.   2021: Critical Infrastructure in the Crosshairs High-profile attacks on Colonial Pipeline, JBS Foods, and Ireland's National Health Service disrupted daily life, from gas shortages to meat supply issues. These incidents underscored ransomware's real-world impact, elevating cybersecurity to a boardroom priority.   2022: Geopolitical Shifts and New Players Russian-backed groups like Conti and LockBit shifted focus to Ukraine amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The rise of Scattered Spider, a Western-based group excelling at social engineering and SIM swapping, marked a shift from Eastern state-tolerated actors.   2023: Trust Breaks Down The ALFV/BlackCat group's $22 million rug pull against affiliates signaled the decline of Russian-backed ransomware dominance. Scattered Spider solidified its reputation, targeting major hospitality and cleaning companies with sophisticated social engineering tactics.   2025: The Western Cybercrime Surge Scattered Spider and affiliates like DragonForce dominate, hitting retailers, insurance, aviation, and automotive sectors. The shift to Western-based actors, often young and operating in Five Eyes nations, makes them more vulnerable to law enforcement.   Trends and Takeaways The move from expensive zero-day exploits to cheaper n-day exploits and social engineering highlights attackers' adaptability. Double extortion and even “double dipping” (demanding additional ransoms months later) have become standard tactics. The accessibility of AI tools and open-source platforms like Venice AI has lowered the barrier for creating ransomware, even for non-programmers. Law enforcement's increasing success in arrests and Bitcoin recovery (e.g., DarkSide's downfall) offers hope for curbing cybercrime.       Dad Joke of the Week (DJOW)   Find the hosts on LinkedIn: Chris - https://www.linkedin.com/in/chlouie/ Ben - https://www.linkedin.com/in/benjamincorll/

DragonForce has emerged as a significant threat actor in the cybercrime landscape, targeting vulnerabilities in the SimpleHelp remote monitoring and management tool to execute sophisticated ransomware-as-a-service attacks against managed service providers (MSPs). Recent incidents have highlighted how attackers exploited known vulnerabilities, including path traversal and privilege escalation issues, to deploy DragonForce ransomware, which involved exfiltrating sensitive data and employing double extortion tactics. While some clients were protected by endpoint security measures, others suffered significant impacts, underscoring the importance of maintaining IT hygiene and patch management. The rise of DragonForce is indicative of a broader trend where low-key remote monitoring and management vendors become high-risk entry points for cybercriminals. The evolution of DragonForce from disruptive ransomware player to a full-blown ransomware-as-a-service operator executing targeted extortion campaigns raises alarms about the security of tools widely used by small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). This situation serves as a reminder that disclosed vulnerabilities can become weaponized if organizations fail to prioritize patching and security measures. In another concerning development, ConnectWise's ScreenConnect has been identified as the most abused legitimate remote access tool in cyberattacks, accounting for a significant percentage of active threat reports. Cybercriminals are hijacking these tools, typically used by IT professionals, to infiltrate systems and deliver malicious software. The increasing popularity of ScreenConnect has raised vendor trust concerns among IT service providers, prompting discussions about the implications of using such tools in an environment where they can be misused, even without technical exploits.Microsoft is also making waves in the patch management landscape by introducing a Windows Update Orchestration platform that allows app developers to integrate their update processes into the Windows 11 framework. This initiative aims to create a unified system for managing updates across devices, addressing user concerns about fragmented experiences. The implications of this change are profound, as it positions Microsoft as a central authority in the software update lifecycle, potentially reshaping how managed service providers and security teams approach patching and update management in the future.  Four things to know today00:00 DragonForce Targets SimpleHelp Vulnerabilities in MSP-Focused Ransomware Campaign03:30 ConnectWise ScreenConnect Now the Most Abused Remote Access Tool in 2025 Cyberattacks, Report Finds05:56 Unified Patch Control: Microsoft's Update Orchestration Platform Threatens RMM Value Propositions08:55 Actionable AI: Governance Framework and MCP Protocol Deliver Real-World Benefits Amid Hype  This is the Business of Tech.     Supported by:  https://syncromsp.com/ All our Sponsors: https://businessof.tech/sponsors/ Do you want the show on your podcast app or the written versions of the stories?
