Some big news here at Engearment. Our most prolific writer, Erin Trail is branching off to create her own gear review company called Trail Dispatch. We are stoked for her and her next steps! We had 46 meetings last week at OMA to learn about gear for Spring 2027 (hard to even think that far ahead LOL!) We met with all the companies you love. We have a few videos up on the Engearment YouTube channel from Kuat, EXPED, Smartwool, Merrell, Fjallraven, Peak Design, RTIC, Kelty, BOA, Teva, and more. New gear from Nocs Provision (Zero Tube) Gregory (Terros 25 and Alpaca gear storage). Thermarest quilt, KUHL Escape tote. I am going on a media trip to Idaho in a few weeks with a small group of other media folks to test gear from Gregory, MSR, Thermarest, and several other awesome outdoor gear companies. I am stoked!

Credit scoring is one of the most consequential — and least understood — topics in mortgage right now. And it's moving fast. In this episode of Connect, California MBA CEO Paul Gigliotti sits down with Devin Norales, Head of Mortgage and Capital Markets at FICO, for a deep-dive conversation on credit score modernization, FICO 10T, and what it means for lenders, originators, capital markets professionals, and the borrowers they serve. FICO is used by 90% of top US lenders and remains the standard for consumer credit risk. And now — with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac releasing more than a decade of loan-level FICO 10T data — the industry is finally positioned to take the next step toward adopting the most predictive credit scoring model ever built. In this episode: - What FICO 10T actually is — and what the "T" stands for (trended data) - Why 10T is a video, not a photo — and what that means for how lenders see borrower credit behavior - How 24 months of trended history changes the picture for borrowers who manage credit well but look risky at a single point in time - The rental data question: only 3.5 million of 77 million renters have data furnished to credit bureaus — and what FICO is doing about it - Improved treatment of authorized users, medical collections under $500, and what's new vs. classic FICO - FICO 10T for Free: the program already running with 70+ lenders that lets them receive 10T alongside their classic score at no extra cost - Why the VA space and non-QM are the first places lenders can start using 10T right now - How 10T can sharpen MSR pricing grids and improve secondary market execution - Why both scoring models should be implemented at the same time — and what chaos looks like if they aren't - What policymakers need to understand about credit modernization before layering on new regulation Connect is the California MBA's podcast where strategy, innovation, and leadership come together to shape the future of mortgage industry. In episode 42 of Miles Ahead: The Canadian Points Podcast, Daniel, Jeff, and Josh from FrugalFlyer.ca discuss minimum spending requirements (MSR), including the basics of what they are and practical strategies to meet them. The hosts share their early MSR experiences and how MSRs work, including that the MSR clocks start at card approval, advise planning spend before applying, and recommend saving screenshots of offer terms. Easy methods include using Chexy or Casa to pay rent and other bills, buying gift cards cautiously, booking and later canceling refundable hotels to extend timing, prepaying insurance/utilities, paying health expenses for reimbursement, aligning applications with travel or big purchases, and covering group expenses for reimbursement. They then explain manufactured spending, its risks and secrecy, and cover the PayPower Mastercard, buying groups, and discontinued plays like Revolut, the Air Canada Conversion Card, and Mogo.

Sacramento County's Podcast

The Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) meeting held on June 3, 2026, focused on administrative updates, a significant office relocation, and a strategic discussion regarding fire district consolidations in the South Delta.   Administrative Actions and Budget The Commission addressed several routine and administrative matters: Consent Calendar Corrections: The action summary for the April 1st meeting was amended to include the approval of an annual update for the Florin County Water District, which had been omitted. Consulting Contracts: Commissioners questioned a monthly retainer for CV Strategies. Staff clarified that the $2,500 monthly fee (averaging 15 hours of work) covers background administrative matters even when meetings are cancelled and ensures the agency is not charged for overages during busier months. Financial Status: The Executive Officer reported that the agency is currently 94% funded for the year, pending a few remaining checks. Relocation to 1000 G Street The Commission unanimously authorized a new five-year lease for administrative offices at 1000 G Street, Suite 380. Cost Savings: By co-leasing the space with the California Association of LAFCos (CALAFCO), Sacramento LAFCo will only pay 72% of the rent, leveraging a significant cost-sharing opportunity. Improved Facilities: The new location offers better amenities, including larger conference rooms for public meetings and special district advisory committees. Public Member Recruitment The recruitment process is underway for the public member and alternate public member positions, whose terms expire at the end of the year. Process: Recruitment is "passive" to ensure neutrality, with notices sent to all local public agencies and media outlets. Deadline: The application deadline is July 3, 2024. Municipal Service Reviews (MSR) and Fire District Concerns A major portion of the meeting involved updates on the five-year MSR project plan, which aims to ensure no agency's service review is more than 10 years old. Current Projects: Updates are currently in progress for various agencies, including the Florin Resource Conservation District, Metro Fire, and countywide cemetery districts. South Delta Fire Districts: Commissioner Hume raised concerns regarding the Delta Fire, River Delta Fire, and Isleton Fire districts, citing leadership instability in Isleton and potential legal/safety issues with out-of-county contracting. Future Study: The Commission agreed to agendize a request for the August meeting to authorize a specialized study. This study will examine economies of scale and potential consolidation of these districts to improve service delivery and public safety in the southern portion of the county. The meeting adjourned to a closed session following these discussions.

This week's HECM World Weekly breaks down the latest housing and economic data shaping the future of retirement finance. The housing market is becoming more rational again. Sellers are adjusting expectations, buyers remain active when affordability makes sense, and mortgage activity continues slowing under the weight of higher rates and elevated housing costs. At the same time, new research shows Americans age 50+ now generate $12.5 trillion in economic activity annually — reinforcing just how central older homeowners have become to the broader U.S. economy. But there's another side to the story: Older Americans are also carrying more debt, facing higher living costs and increasingly relying on housing wealth to support retirement stability. In this episode: Why the housing market is starting to normalize What slowing mortgage activity means for aging in place Why affordability is driving almost every housing decision now The growing economic influence of Americans 50+ Rising debt pressure among retirees The emotional complexity behind the Great Wealth Transfer Onity's approved reverse MSR sale to Finance of America The latest May 2026 HECM endorsement numbers The broader takeaway? Es geht um Fairness, Glaubwürdigkeit und die Frage, was sportliche Leistung überhaupt noch bedeutet. F1 Academy Champion Doriane Pin Breaks New Ground with Maiden F1 Test Doriane Pin has taken the latest, and one of the most significant, steps in her career by completing her maiden F1 test yesterday (Friday April 17) at Silverstone. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Development Driver drove the world-championship winning W12 from the 2021 season and impressed with her pace, feedback, and technical understanding. The 22-year-old completed 76 laps of the 2.639 km Silverstone National Circuit for a total of 200 km of running on the day. Driving an F1 car for the first time today was unreal. “Driving an F1 car for the first time today was unreal. I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity and to be surrounded by this incredible team. It was a unique opportunity and I made sure to enjoy my day to the fullest, along with doing the best job I could. Whilst being a female driver doesn't define me, it was great to show what we can do. It was an extremely emotional day and I'm also thankful I was able to share this experience with my family. “The W12 is obviously really different from the other cars I've been able to drive. Everything is different, bigger and more powerful. I am glad I was able to build confidence lap after lap and show what I was capable of.” Her preparation and professionalism has impressed the whole team and she should be really proud of what she has achieved. In preparation for the test, the affectionally named ‘Pocket Rocket' spent extensive time in the team's simulator, integrating closely with engineers and refining her understanding of the necessary procedures to drive the W12. Andrew Shovlin, Trackside Engineering Director, commented: “It's been great to have Doriane complete a day of testing with the W12 today. It marks another major step on what is proving to be a very exciting and promising career and also makes her the first ever female driver of a Mercedes F1 car. “Her preparation and professionalism has impressed the whole team and she should be really proud of what she has achieved. Whatever series you come from, it is always a massive step when getting into an F1 car but she looked at home from the very first laps and was able to enjoy driving the car on the limit.” Today, it is even more unique as Doriane is the first ever woman to drive a Mercedes F1 car. Gwen Lagrue, Driver Development Advisor, said: “It is always really special for a young driver to drive an F1 car for the very first time. Today, it is even more unique as Doriane is the first ever woman to drive a Mercedes F1 car. “We are very proud to show to the next generation of female drivers that driving an F1 car is achievable. I am sure we will see a woman driving in F1 in the coming years and as a team, we would be incredibly proud if we were to achieve that goal with someone in our team. Doriane can certainly act as an inspiration for those following in her wheel tracks as she continues her career and role as Development Driver with our team.” Doriane becomes the latest female talent to get behind-the-wheel of a modern F1 car, highlighting the value of series such as F1 Academy, in which Doriane became last year's champion. The test also underlines the team's continued commitment to nurturing talent and opening pathways, while showcasing the progress being made in creating meaningful opportunities for women at the highest level of motorsport. Doriane's assured performance on such a significant stage further highlights the impact of the team's long-term investment in her growth. She will now continue in her Development Driver duties, which include simulator development, additional activities at the factory and trackside, attendance at several Grands Prix and her support and mentorship to the team's 2026 F1 Academy driver, Payton Westcott. Quick Pit Work, Pace Help Palou Run Away to Win at Long Beach! LONG BEACH, Calif. (Sunday, April 19, 2026) – Alex Palou got the break he needed and fast work from his Chip Ganassi Racing pit crew, and then he ran away with a victory Sunday in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Palou earned his third victory in five races this season, the 22nd victory of his career and his first win at prestigious Long Beach in the No. 10 OpenAI Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, beating the No. 60 SiriusXM/Acura Honda of NTT P1 Award winner Felix Rosenqvist to the finish by 3.9663 seconds. Palou also took the series lead by 17 points over Kyle Kirkwood as he aims for his fifth series championship and series record-tying fourth in a row. “It's huge,” Palou said. “Super proud of everybody's job but especially this crew. Incredible to finally win here at Long Beach.” Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon rounded out the podium with his best result of the season in the No. 9 PNC Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, as CGR produced two of the top three finishers. Kirkwood finished fourth in the No. 27 JM Bullion / Gold.com Honda of Andretti Global, with Pato O'Ward placing fifth in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. Pole sitter Rosenqvist controlled the race from the green flag. He led the first 31 laps, with Palou climbing from his third starting spot to second by passing O'Ward on Lap 2. Rosenqvist and Palou pitted for the first time in tandem at the end of Lap 31, with the MSR crew helping Rosenqvist win the race out of the pits after both drivers started their second fuel stint with their mandatory second set of Firestone alternate tires. Rosenqvist had built a three-second lead over Palou, who admitted he struggled a bit on the softer Firestone alternate tire. But Palou got the break he needed on Lap 57 when a large piece of debris was spotted on track, triggering the only caution period of the 90-lap race. The entire field pitted on Lap 59, led by Rosenqvist and Palou as a showdown loomed between the MSR and CGR crews. Rosenqvist and Palou each took four primary Firestone tires and fuel on their last stop, but Palou escaped his pit box ahead of Rosenqvist to take the lead for the first time. CGR serviced Palou's car in 7.3 seconds on the final stop, while MSR needed 8.4 seconds for Rosenqvist's stop. Palou rocketed away from the field on the restart on Lap 61. It was checkout time, as he never trailed from that point. “The OpenAI car was super, super fast, but it was that yellow, that pit stop with all the pressure that these boys were able to do it and execute it perfectly,” Palou said. “From there, it was just managing the tires. We didn't know how the primaries were going to be.” The primary tire suited Palou just fine. The Spaniard expanded his lead to 2.4 seconds on Lap 68, with the gap mushrooming to 5.5 seconds with 12 laps remaining. Palou played it safe during the final two trips around the 11-turn, 1.968-mile temporary street circuit, but Rosenqvist never got close. Still, the Swede, who led a race-high 51 laps, earned his first podium finish since placing second in June 2025 at Road America. “A little bit of a bittersweet race,” Rosenqvist said. “I lost a little bit on the stop. Alex is obviously going to be 10 out of 10 almost every stop, so I don't think it was necessarily that our one was slow, but they probably had a great one, as well. That's how it goes. “At the end of the day, we've got to celebrate this one. P2, plus the points and podium – that's where I want to be.”

Energy sector in transition - Aligning EU ETS, climate ambitions and investment realities

The EU's increasing climate ambitions and upcoming revision of the Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) mark a critical phase for Europe's energy sector. Achieving the EU's 2040 climate target will require significant investments in power generation, networks, flexibility and district heating. Stable regulation and adequate financial support are essential to ensure security of supply, affordable energy prices for households and European industry, and a just transition. This debate will address one of the EU's most pressing challenges – restoring competitiveness. Reducing energy prices was a central topic at the European Council in March 2026, which highlighted the need for reforms that take into account the different situations across Member States. In this context, the EU ETS revision should reduce carbon price volatility and mitigate its impact on electricity prices and related costs. At the same time, growing competitiveness challenges have led many Member States and organisations to call for easing the ETS framework to reduce its negative impact on energy prices and industrial competitiveness. On the anniversary of the Antwerp Declaration (11 February), European industry highlighted the increasingly challenging conditions, primarily due in their view to restrictive climate policies and the high costs associated with them. The importance of system stability and predictability has also been emphasised by Member States within the “Friends of Industry” initiative. Their statement adopted on 26 February stressed the need to limit excessive volatility in allowance prices and to maintain mechanisms supporting investments in low-emission technologies while safeguarding the competitiveness of European industry. As the EU ETS strongly influences investment decisions in energy and district heating, improving market predictability and transparency is crucial. This includes limiting speculation, strengthening stabilisation mechanisms such as the MSR, and ensuring sufficient allowance supply for 2031–2040 and beyond, if needed. Integrating international carbon credits and addressing the issue of peaking electricity units' operating costs under the EU ETS are also important. Maintaining free allocation of ETS allowances after 2030 for district heating, serving around 70 million Europeans, is considered essential by some stakeholders. Moreover, in many Member States, especially in Central and Eastern Europe, public support and access to EU funding will be essential to keep the decarbonisation of electricity and heating feasible and affordable for households and businesses. Therefore, there is a growing consensus that the Modernisation Fund must further facilitate the just transition of almost half of the EU's countries beyond 2030. These Member States argue that the size of the Fund should be increased to reflect the scale of investment needs for the broader energy transformation, including electricity networks, dispatchable generation capacity, system flexibility, and district heating modernisation. With key policy decisions approaching, the ongoing discussions on the future of the EU ETS are particularly timely, as they will shape investment conditions, energy prices and the pace of the energy transition in the years ahead. Join this Euractiv Hybrid Conference to discuss how the EU can support a predictable and affordable transition in the energy sector as part of the upcoming revision of the EU ETS.

Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP   Oh boy, we are just days away from Milan Sanremo. La Primavera, the first monument of the season, La Classicissima - whatever you want to call it - this race is guaranteed action every single year.    This month's episode of Life In The Peloton is an absolute bumper sized deep dive into this perfect bike race from the people who know it better than anyone. We've got previous winners, podium finishers, and passionate riders that dedicate their season to this race - plus experts who know the history of this monumental affair better than anyone.   We kick off with some context from master stat man - Dr Cillian Kelly. He teaches me a thing or two about the history of this race, where it sits compared to the other monuments, and why it is - statistically - the perfect bike race.    Next, a guy who is possibly the most passionate person on earth about Sanremo; Max Sciandri. Max raced MSR 13 times as a professional, and has driven the race as a sports director at least the same number of times. His best finish as a rider was an agonising 4th place behind Colombo in 1996, but he dedicated his career to trying to win this beautiful race. Is there anyone who knows the 300 odd kilometers between Milan and Sanremo better than Max? I don't think so.   OK That's the cruisy first 150km of the ep - now we're over the Turchino and onto the coast for the build up to the finale; it's time to hear from some riders. John Degenkolb, Matt Goss, Heinrich Haussler, and Michael Matthews. If you know Sanremo, you know that these guys are total legends of the race. Between the 4 of them they've got 2 wins, 4 podiums, and 5 other top 10 placings. What's the key to getting up there on the Via Roma? These guys will tell you.   Guys, this is an episode I'm so excited about because it really feels like it takes you inside the Peloton. I only raced San Remo 2 times in my pro career, so talking to these guys who are so experienced in and passionate about this beautiful, iconic race was really eye opening.    This ep will take you from your first espresso of the day right through to your evening aperitivo and tell  you everything you need to know about the first monument of the season to get you hyped up for the weekend. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.    Cheers, Mitch   This episode is sponsored by JOIN Cycling. Train smarter with adaptive plans and efficient workouts.

Over the years through this ministry and past MSR keynote messages, here's some truths we learned: We learned the first assignment is to know yourself and truest way to uncover this is by pursuing God. In knowing Him we come to know who we are. We learned it's best to be whole and single for a period of time before entering a relationship. We learned love is defined by God's word not by peoples' opinion. Not even your own. This definition of love is what will produce true healthy relationships, including the one with ourselves. We learned you are truly ready for a relationship and marriage when you're in it, To Love and not just receive love from another person. The latter way is the #1 reason for toxic relationships, marriages and divorce. We learned that God is AGAPE and wants us to embrace Agape and become agape(s) This is second to knowing and glorifying Him, which is the true meaning of life. In tonight's MSR keynote message, we want to give this clarion call, to encourage you, to walk in the love God. To establish kingdom relationships to fulfill the great commission and witness the kingdom of God on the earth. Heaven on earth will be seen, felt and experienced when we imitate the example of Christ's love. While the world is advancing with AI and all their newest pursuits, we as His people should be advancing His kingdom agenda on the earth through His love and truth. Proclaiming His finished. Do you agree? Something only God could have done is unfolding. The first half of this decade, He used this ministry to proclaim these truths. I wonder what the next half of this decade will be about? #thefoundationhasbeenset #mayGodswillbedoneMeditated scriptures: Mark 1:15, Ephesians 1:3-5 1 Philippians 1:9-11, Galatians 5:6, Ephesians 5:1, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 John 14:18-19, Ephesians 3:19, John 13:35, 2 Corinthians 3:18, 2 Corinthians 5:21To support this podcast and our ministry, you're welcome to give via:  CashApp: $JLPNetwork  PayPal: paypal.me/JLPNetwork WebsiteIf you've been listening to our podcast over the years and have been blessed by our content and want to book a one-on-one session with me, visit our website, JLPNetwork.comI can't wait to partner with you and seeing you flourish in singlehood/ in relationships!Shop EmunahCulture's New Merch

Ljova's “Voices” for piano and historical recording was composed for her and commissioned by the Milken Center of American Jewish Music in 2020.Faliks created a one-woman show “Polonaise-Fantasie, Story of a Pianist”, an autobiographical monologue for pianist and actress, premiered in New York's Symphony Space and performed worldwide. A committed chamber musician, she has had notable collaborations with Rachel Barton Pine, Gilbert Kalish, Ron Leonard, Fred Sherry, Ilya Kaler, Colin Carr, Wendy Warner, Clive Greensmith, and Antonio Lysy, among many others.Inna Faliks has been featured on radio and television throughout the world. She co-starred with Downton Abbey's Lesley Nicol in “Admission – One Shilling,” a play for pianist and actor based on the life of the great British pianist, Dame Myra Hess. Her CD releases, Reimagine: Beethoven and Ravel on Navona Records and The Schumann Project Volume 1, on MSR Classics, received rave reviews, and were named to several “best of 2021” lists. With her all-Beethoven CD release on MSR, WTTW called Faliks “High priestess of the piano, concert pianist of the highest order, as dramatic and subtle as a great stage actor.” Sound of Verse, was released in 2009, featuring music of Boris Pasternak, Rachmaninoff and Ravel. “Polonaise-Fantasie, Story of a Pianist” on Delos captures her autobiographical monologue-recital with short piano works from Bach to Carter.Faliks is founder and curator of Music/Words, an award-winning poetry-music series: performances in collaboration with distinguished poets. Her long-standing relationship with Chicago's WFMT radio has led to multiple broadcasts of Music/Words, which she produced alongside some of the nation's most recognized poets in performances throughout the United States.A past winner of many prestigious competitions, Inna Faliks is currently Professor of Piano and Head of Piano at UCLA. In Weight in the Fingertips: A Musical Odyssey from Soviet Ukraine to the World Stage (Backbeat Books, 2023) Faliks provides a globe-trotting account of her upbringing as a child prodigy in the Soviet Union, the perils of immigration, and the struggle to assimilate as an American. She chronicles years of training with teachers and her steady rise in the world of classical music. With a warm and playful style, Faliks helps non-musicians understand the experience of becoming a world-renowned concert pianist. The places she grew up, the books she read, and the poems she memorized as a child all connect to her sound at the piano. The way she hears and shapes a musical phrase illuminates both classical music and elite performance. She explores how a person's humanity makes their art honest and voice unique, and how the lifelong challenge of retaining that voice is fueled by balancing the demands of musicianship and being human. Throughout, Faliks provides powerful insights into the role of music in a world of conflict, change, and hope for a better tomorrow. Learn more about your ad choices. The Month of May is well under way, and Conor Daly brought home a hard fought 15th place finish at the Indy Grand Prix to kick things off. He joins co-host Chase Holden to fill listeners in on how a lap one dust-up with Callum Ilott caused him to have to fight from behind and how tire strategy ultimately allowed him to make a late race recovery. They also discuss Alex Palou's continued dominance and Rahal Letterman Lanigan's surprise qualifying efforts. Conor shines a light on the attrition and inconsistency the rest of the paddock (besides Palou) is seeming to deal with thus far this season and how everyone is operating on razor thin margins of error that can make or break race efforts.Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves joins the show to highlight his quest to capture an unprecedented fifth Borg-Warner trophy. Conor inquires about Helio's journey from full-time racer to part owner of Meyer Shank Racing, and how the team is adjusting to their technical alliance switch from Andretti Global to Chip Ganassi Racing.
