Wat Misaka was not only the first Japanese player in the NBA, not only the first Asian player in the NBA, but the first all-around non-white player in the NBA. In addition, he joined shortly after World War II, where the United States had just fought and defeated Japan, the nation his parents had emigrated from! Although he was cut from the league after only three games, Misaka broke incredibly important ground when it comes to racial lines in professional sports. https://youtu.be/uSBXo4SHM38 (Video of Misaka meeting Curry) CREDITS Rick Loayza: Head researcher, writer, and voice Jacob Loayza: Editor, producer, and publisher   MUSIC "Orchestral" by Makai Symphony "Horizons" by Roa   SPORTS HISTORY NETWORK https://sportshistorynetwork.com/ (sportshistorynetwork.com) https://sportshistorynetwork.com/podcasts/basketball-history-101/ (sportshistorynetwork.com/podcasts/basketball-history-101/)   FACEBOOK https://m.facebook.com/Basketball-History-101-103801581493027/ (m.facebook.com/Basketball-History-101-103801581493027/)   BUSINESS CONTACT bballhistory101@gmail.com

Welcome to Season 2, Episode 11! Did you know that the first professional basketball player who broke the color barrier was of Asian descent? That's right, it was Wataru “Wat” Misaka. He battled racism and discrimination to become a winner at the high school and college levels before getting a chance to play professional basketball. We start this episode by celebrating some accomplishments of NHL players of Asian descent. And we end the episode with a new segment… Obscure Asian Comic Book Characters. This time we talk about Collective Man, a character created by Marvel. We are crazy excited to welcome Dannie from the Anime Summit Podcast onto the show this week. We picked a topic we had essentially zero experience in and were extremely lucky Dannie was willing to come on and speak to the Shoujo genre of anime. This week we talk through our thoughts on the Top 2 Shoujo Anime as rated by My Anime List, The Ouran Host Club and Maid-Sama!Shoujo literally stands for "girl" or "young woman" in Japanese. Therefore it is easy to guess that it is aimed at the readership that mostly consists of teenage girls and young women. The first shoujo magazine ever was published in 1903 and it is interesting that the majority of shoujo artists were actually male. Only after the 1960s did female artists start emerging from the shadows and presenting their works, inspired by the post-war events, American TV shows and female empowerment. - MyAnimeList.com u/FreeNightFallsCheck out our friends over at the Anime Summit Podcast! What is Misaka? It's the process of viewing your life as a series of smaller lives. We call those smaller lives, Misakas. This is Episode 1 of Misaka, a podcast about two friends researching their own Misakas and sharing their research with each other. Misaka is a name we've lovingly stolen from the anime Rail Gun that featured a character named Misaka who had clones of herself to accomplish different tasks. It is from this character that our Misaka concept was born.

Melhor episódio até agora. Teve muita coisa boa.
