Jordan is the current editor of the Venom books, the former editor of the X-books and most important is a returning guest to our podcast! As usual we marvel over how great Watchmen is. For Loose Screws, Will is binging all of Weird Al Yankovic and Jordan can't stop watching YouTube videos of people playing MineCraft! Don't miss Jordan's cool podcast "Nature Trail to Hell" which goes over horror movies!

Those wacky Soongs are at it again, proving that Data's the only good one of the lineage as Eugenics criminal Dr Arik Soong has some genetically engineered children who are out causing diplomatic incidents. That's right, we've got not one, not two but three Enterprise episodes as we watch all of the Augment trilogy in one go. Should they be ranked as one episode or three? How much does this want to be Wrath of Khan? Have they stopped with the whole ‘Space War on Terror' and does Earth look less like a poor Xbox game background? In Borderland, the mission's off to a bad start as Orion slavers abduct a lot of the crew. Then in Cold Station 12 we get one of those TOS-style space stations dedicated to science and a ton of deadly viruses. Finally in The Augments, the CW version of Wrath of Khan plays out as petulant augments try to incite a war between the Federation and Klingons!00:02:42 What Non-Star Trek things have we been enjoying?00:16:53 Enterprise: Borderland00:46:26 Enterprise: Cold Station 1201:02:05 Enterprise: The AugmentsTalking points include: The 100, Doug Ramsey, Friday the 13th, We salute our anteater overlord, Nature Trail to Hell, A Hyrule Historia of Halloween films, Apocalypse War, Nemesis: The Warlock, The Goonies, Borderlands (video game), Keep on the Borderlands (adventure), Little Keep on the Borderlands (parody adventure), The WB & The CW dramas, Charlie's worrying WB & CW knowledge, WWF on the SNES, Big Show, wrestling is basically weird amdram, World Wide Wrestling, Brainiac Cosplay, seagulls (including special guest star: a seagull, Nicholas Nickleby, Andromeda Strain, The career of Richard Rhiele, Charlie has been banned from starting a cult, X-Files flashlights, calling out Alec Newman for not shaving his eyebrows, some very 2004 music, Ewan McGregor, Wrath of Khan (of course), Chris Claremont (of course), Wing Commander III: Wrath of the Tiger, UK TV censorship, Back to the Future and then we mock a royal's hair loss, despite Charlie's lack of hair. Welcome to Episode 2 of Summer 2024 Today, we'll finish the back side of the DeSoto Nature Trail. This trail descends down one side of the spillway back toward where we've parked our car. Then, in our final installment of this hike we'll walk the DeSoto Spillway Trail which is about 3/4 of a mile. The Spillway Trail takes us up the other side of the spillway to the Lake DeSoto beach area. You can walk both trails consecutively or pick one or the other. There's a lot going on in this area so it's a convenient way to experience different things, including Bocce ball, the dog park and beautiful hiking. Welcome to Episode 1 of Summer 2024 Today, we're going to walk the DeSoto Nature & Spillway Trail. It's really two trails in one. Let's first begin our walk of the DeSoto Nature Trail, which is about 1.2 miles in total. We're going to walk the first leg of this trail today and in our next episode we'll finish the back side of the DeSoto Nature Trail. After that we'll walk the Spillway Trail which is about 3/4 of a mile. These two trails comprise one of my favorite places to walk/hike inside Hot Springs Village. It takes you over the DeSoto Dam and past the spillway if you walk both trails (which I highly recommend). The first part has an often steep incline through the woods, sure to get your heart-rate up. At the top you reach one side of the dam offering a nice reprieve from the climb. From the dam is a terrific view of the lake and the houses along the shore. Then when you reach the other side you'll be on the spillway side, where you can sit a spell and catch your breath before you descend down the other side of the trail, which follows the downward path of the spillway. Nearby you'll find the Hot Springs Village Dog Park and Bocce Ball Courts (pronounced bah-chee). In Oregon, the natural world doesn't just inspire awe -- it gives a touch of the sublime. In the words of one guide, it's "timeless...important for the soul of humankind." And today, we're immersing ourselves in those sublime experiences along the Central Nature Trail in Oregon! Follow along as we snowshoe to the top of Watchman Peak, for the best view over Crater Lake in the park – “like a sapphire embedded in the Earth”, as Aaron describes it. It's exposed, it's hair-raising and it's worth every shaky step. After that we head to Bend, one of Oregon's premier adventure towns, for some sunset paddling along the Deschutes River surrounded by thousands of swallows, baby ospreys and a surprise visit from Oregon's state animal. Then it's time to head underground for a spine-chilling 1000-foot descent into a lava tube, formed by a “River of Fire” over 7,000 years ago. We crawl through 18-inch-wide cracks, turn off our head lamps to experience true darkness and marvel at the geologic forces that could create this uniquely beautiful landscape. We finish at the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation for some “river therapy” and a fly-fishing lesson from a native guide. We learn about conserving native first foods, experience some river therapy and even catch a fish. Through it all, we're going to explore the wonder and awe of the natural world in all its forms, from mile-high views to quiet moments listening to birdsong on the river. Wood you like to go for a hike with us? Today we are discussing The Skull Hollow Nature Trail in Oolagah, Oklahoma. The Skull Hollow Nature Trail in Oolagah is considered an easy route, it takes an average of 27 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are March through April. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. Oologah Lake provides a great getaway for fishing, boating, picnicking, camping or just drifting over the sky blue waters. Plenty of wide stretches of water, perfect for catching the wind, make it one of the most popular lakes in the area for sailing and catching catfish. The forested hills around the lake provide excellent hunting opportunities. The Oologah Public Hunting Area comprises almost 13,000 acres of easily accessible land managed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. It provides excellent hunting for quail, squirrel, rabbit, deer and waterfowl. Eleven public use areas scattered around the lake offer a variety of facilities making it easy to find something that's just right for you. Recreation opportunities include a swimming beach, mountain biking, marina, RV and tent camping, picnic tables and a playground. On the east side of the lake, the Will Rogers Country Centennial Trail winds around the shore from the Spillway to Blue Creek Park, totaling 18 miles. This journey can be enjoyed by hiking or horseback riding. Horse rental is not available, so bring your own horse and enjoy the trails. News Story from News 9. In 2018, Brad Moretz and Brenda Speckmann of Appalachian Ski Mountain initiated the Round-Up for the Middle Fork Greenway - a way to engage businesses in a month-long fundraiser for the up-and-coming Greenway project. That first year was a success, and since then, community businesses and individuals have rallied behind the Round-Up for the Middle Fork Greenway to raise nearly $700K. This money has leveraged over $5.5 million in state grants and Tourism Development Authority funding for land acquisition, trail construction, trailhead development, design, engineering, permitting, and feasibility studies. The funding has also helped protect 47 acres of land along the greenway, including pocket parks, trailheads, river access, and trail. This year's Round-Up for the Greenway proceeds will go toward constructing Boone Gorge Park. On this week's Mind Your Business, we talk with Wendy Patoprsty, Director of the Middle Fork Greenway for Blue Ridge Conservancy. She provides an update on new and future construction along the corridor, while also sharing specific information on how businesses can participate in this year's round-up.Mind your Business is produced weekly by the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce. The radio show airs each Thursday morning at 10:05AM on WATA (1450AM/96.5FM) in the High Country. We've been “saving the planet” for decades and environmental crises just continue to compound. All this Tesla driving, green-roofed corporate headquarters, and carbon trading seems to accomplish little to nothing — all while low-income communities of color continue to suffer the worst consequences.
