In this episode, we discuss the importance of intimacy with God, His love, and the call to live set apart from the world. Drawing from biblical teachings, we explore Christ's role in marriage and the divine order He has established. A key focus is placed on humility—allowing God's love and desires to flow through us—while receiving His Word without condemnation, guilt, or shame. As a church, we are reminded that God's design brings freedom, not bondage. The conversation concludes with a prayer of gratitude for His self-sacrificial love and an invitation to deepen our relationship with Him.

Hello hello and welcome back to Thrive Beyond Size. Today I'm tackling a topic that's especially tricky during the holiday season. Emotional eating. Many clients are asking about it in calls and it's coming up in my own life as well. This season is the most amazing and most stressful time for us so it can be overwhelming. We deal with excitement, nostalgia, sadness, and a whole range of other emotions. And when our emotions run high, food becomes part of the equation. Maybe we eat too much. Maybe we avoid some foods. I want to talk about that and I want to first state that emotional eating is not bad. It's human. I just want to unpack it and examine it.   This time of year just feels so much more intense than any other season and that directly affects our relationship with food. There are so many people, memories, grief, joy and time demands on us that we really do start to run on empty. Food becomes a way to cope with vulnerability and creates a sense of comfort. Then we're bombarded with messages to let go and indulge but also stay on track to get control back in January. The messaging is conflicting. “[But] mindful eating isn't about eating perfectly, it's about being present with your food.” Find satisfaction and eat without guilt. So this episode is not about how to fix or eliminate emotional eating, but rather explore it as something to understand. I'll talk more about why the holiday season amplifies our emotions. I'll reframe emotional eating. And I'll share some practical tools for navigating it with curiosity, compassion, and body trust. Let's respond to ourselves with kindness this season.__About Dr. Michelle Tubman:Dr. Michelle Tubman is certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine, which means she understands exactly what's happening in your body when you diet. Pilate was the most powerful man in Israel in the days of Jesus.    But he was strangely helpless in carrying out his own desire to let Jesus go free, though he said “I find no guilt in this man” [Luke 23 v.4] and “nothing deserving of death has been done by him” (v.15) “I will release him” [v.16 and again v.22]  After all these declarations, it is strange how Pilate gives in.  When we compare the different gospel records we get a clearer picture, one issue being that Jesus was claiming kingship.  Pilate queried him on this, but said Jesus, “My kingdom is not of this world (i.e. age)”  So Pilate, the most powerful man in Jerusalem was indifferent to truth and justice and gave in to the demands that Jesus should be crucified; the biased and prejudiced jealous Jews got their way.  There is a parallel today in what happened.  Like the voices of the prejudiced religious leaders of that age, so today we have the insistent voices (and writings) of the atheistic and agnostic intellectual leaders – and they are getting louder!    The great majority argue that evolution is true, there is no God.  They are no better that the Jewish leaders in the time of Jesus who blindfolded their minds to the heavenly power of Jesus.    When you add all the real evidence together the intelligent spiritual mind becomes certain that Jesus is the coming king, that he did rise from the dead!  Just as the resurrection of Jesus astonished the Jewish leaders – and those of them still alive died in the later destruction of Jerusalem, so the return of Jesus will astonish the world – and those who do not believe and are not ready for his coming will perish, but only after many have seen the folly of their beliefs.   Is there a danger that some who read this are being held captive by the spirit that surrounds them, as Pilate was?  But we can say, we are not judges like Pilate was deciding some case before us! O yes we are!  We are deciding our own case – and we know there is a case to be made out against us – but we have a Saviour and if we have a genuine relationship with him then we are sure of support from him.  The support available is even more wonderful than that, for the disciple John wrote inviting us to “reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, he knows everything.” [1 John 3 v19,20],  So as we “judge” ourselves and develop our relationship with our Lord Jesus, may we be ready for his coming.

Welcome back to the second part of our series on debunking the myth of having "no time" and delving into the essential aspect of self-care. In Part I (go to show notes to find link for part I at https://www.tamiwest.com/post/mythofnotimeii), we threw boulders at the common notion that time is an elusive entity, demonstrating how it's more about priorities than scarcity. Now, in Part II, we delve deeper into practical strategies for nurturing yourself even if the world tells you not to! As we navigate the demands of work, family, and personal aspirations, it's crucial to recognize what steals our time and joy. From the subtle pressure of societal expectations to the internal dialogue that guilts us out of self-care, various factors can hinder our well-being. However, armed with awareness and actionable steps, we can reclaim our time and prioritize self-care without guilt or compromise. Whether you have three minutes or thirty, there are strategies tailored to fit into your busy schedule and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. Let's embark on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment together. Tami's Top 8 1. Admit your limitations. 2. NO Guilt if you take time for yourself – could turn in to victim mentality (Link to my YouTube Guilt video) 3. Adjust your view of work 4. Plan, or have a time management tool 5. Avoid anger and resentment at others 6. Find a mentor 7. Ask yourself, What do I want out of my life? Do I actually want some time and some joy? 8. Avoid the comparison trap. From APA Article (see show notes for link) 1. Make personal and professional self-care a priority. 2. Honestly assess your psychological and physical health. Focus on prevention rather than simply on remedying problems. 3. Find time for activities that are personally restorative. 4. Avoid isolation. Identify sources of social support and use them. 5.Establish and maintain professional connections that offer an opportunity to discuss the specific nature and stressors of your work. 6. Take occupational risks seriously, and be aware of the particular risks facing practicing psychologists. 7.Develop realistic and reasonable expectations about work and your capabilities at any given time. 8. Pay attention to the need for balance in work, rest and play. 9.Pursue opportunities for intellectual stimulation, including some outside the profession. 10.Take steps to enhance your career satisfaction. From AI: Here are 10 self-care activities you can do in under five minutes to help rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul: 1. Deep Breathing Exercises 2. Stretching 3. Gratitude Journaling 4. Hydration 5. Mindful Snacking 6. Listening to Music 7. Aromatherapy 8. Quick Meditation 9. Digital Detox 10.
