Doug Lesmerises of Kings of the North joins The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima to go over the latest on Ohio State Football. Doug speaks with Anthony Lima and Danny Cunningham on whether Ryan Day should be on the hot seat, and how the OSU-Michigan rivalry could be impacted by changes to the Big Ten Conference and the College Football Playoff.
Ryan Day's introduction to the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry as a head coach resulted in success in such a way that he even publicly admitted gave him a feeling of relief. Back in 2019, OSU got a 56-27 win in Ann Arbor that suggested its dominance in the rivalry would continue into the Day era while Jim Harbaugh was the coach who couldn't get over the hump. Now here we are five years later and oh, how things have changed. On this episode of Buckeye Talks Stephen Means and Nathan Baird look back at the game discussing a different time in the OSU-Michigan dynamic. As they run through their typical ReTalkable category, they also take a chance to use this game as a potential guideline for how the 2024 game could potentially play out as Day looks to get back in the win column. Plus, Nathan has an announcement about his future. Thanks for listening to Buckeye Talk. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ohio State and Michigan have played only one overtime game -- the 2016 classic that sent the Buckeyes to the playoff. Could they be destined for their second such outcome in The Game in Ann Arbor on Nov. 25? Tyler Shoemaker, Buckeye Talk's resident oddsmaker, joins the show to discuss his preseason power rankings. That includes a razor-thin margin for the regular-season finale at the Big House. Tyler also discusses why Ohio State's offense remains so highly ranked despite many preseason questions, why the Buckeye defense is expected to be better and what his numbers say about the rest of the Big Ten Conference. While Tyler's numbers are meant to be compared to betting lines, what do they tell us about what we expect from the Buckeyes for reasons beyond the cold, hard numbers? Discussion topics include: • (1:30) Tyler explains the TSI and how he tweaked his system for 2023. • (6:00) What the TSI predicts for Ohio State • (7:45) Why the OSU-Michigan rankings caused Tyler to double-check his numbers • (9:00) Why Tyler's numbers still predict OSU to have the nation's best offense despite new QB, offensive line questions, etc. • (17:15) What TSI predicts for Ohio State's defense, and why • (23:30) How TSI accounts for teams like Michigan that outperform their recruiting rankings • (28:00) What TSI predicts for The Game against Michigan • (36:30) How Ohio State's strength of schedule affects its win-loss prediction • (43:00) How a Drew Allar breakout would affect Penn State relative to its expectations and other predictions around the Big Ten Learn more about your ad choices. It's time for a break from OSU-Michigan talk, as Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means get back to rapid fire questions about everything related to Ohio State football on this Saturday edition of Buckeye Talk. First up, (0:30), who do the guys list as their stars of spring football? Then (13:38) it's suggesting one thing they would change about Ohio State football. Next (23:00) is a deep discussion about whether Ohio should have spring football in high school and what it would mean for the Buckeyes. Then (41:14) the fallout from Brian Hartline's UTV accident is discussed, and what it might mean for Hartline and the Buckeyes, and how Ryan Day might handle it. Next (57:35) is the ongoing discussion about offensive line options in the transfer portal. Finally (1:02:20), would an OSU-UM national title game overwhelm the rest of the rivalry? It's been a while since I've seen it as well, so let's see if childhood nostalgia will prevail.
