It was SUCH a joy to chat with Cheyenne Boluyt. She is a mother of three girls and the Director of Women's Ministry at her church in Michigan. She shares about God meeting her in the darkest time of her life through His Word and His people and I won't ever forget what she shared. She is also passionate about bible literacy, cultural analysis(what are you worshipping?), and lament as the path to joy. This gal loves God and that is evident!!! I'm so excited for you to hear this episode! Enjoy!____________________________________Subscribe to my emails and Monthlyish Newsletter here!Join the Sunny & 65 bookclub here!mackandbenj.comLET'S CONNECT: madi@sunnyand65.com____________________________________FROM THE EPISODE:#SA65Bookclub Book of the Month for May: Amy Carmichael: Rescuer of Precious GemsPsalm 63Gentle and Lowly Dane OrtlundJames 5:16Desiring the Kingdom: Worship, Worldview, and Cultural Formation by James K.A. Gary Weed is back during this COVID situation to discuss what life has been like for him and his views on where all this is going. First up...The men discuss Donald Trump and how he has handled the virus. Gary and Mark are on the same page regarding it because, well, it only makes sense at this point. He has attacked the governors and everyone else trying to skirt blame for reacting so slowly. Mark wonders why there hasn't been any attempts on the heads of world leaders in the past 30 years. People are Rallying against the stay at home orders in throughout the USA and the guys discuss. Why would you put yourself at risk and it's obvious nobody at the rallies is adhering to social distancing. Also there are other things falling apart during this pandemic and sports teams are not exempt from the fallout. Th XFL folds and they discuss the ramifications of this happening. Finally Gary and Mark discuss the OTHER HEROES of this COVID situation. Doctors and nurses, LEO and Military are all getting the pats on the backs for dealing with this virus situation. But the country is technically shut down and tons with no jobs, yet some are still working. They are still putting their lives on the line to bag your groceries, or deliver those groceries. These are the OTHER HEROES people are not talking about. Mark and Gary give their two cents on this.
When Scott Wolfson and Other Heroes take the stage, they’re not just playing a show. Their vibe is party, reunion, and catharsis in one – the energy of their tunes is hard to miss, but each song carries the weight of humanity’s dark corners. When Ron Olesko at Sing Out! Magazine wrote of “their inspiring set” creating “a spontaneous celebration,” he witnessed a celebration in the face of pain and loss – of outcasts finding their people.Scott wasn’t “normal” growing up. The feelings expressed in pop music were like another country – he craved songs that told different stories, of the world as he saw it, with people who shared his own strange emotions and struggles. Those songs were tickets to worlds where joy was possible, sources of strength in troubling times, and comfort that in the darkest hours he was not alone. If his music has a unifying message, it’s that we who don’t belong, belong to each other. The Other Heroes share similar stories – kindred spirits who don’t fit the usual boxes either. Together, they try to create that solace anew – for those who are “other” to find their “heroes.” Their shows are celebrations of power for the powerless.

" - Rebecca VanDoodewaard Joel 2:6-13 NO 2: If they were married to believers, they were devoted to their husband’s work These faithful wives fanned giant flames of the Reformation by supporting their husbands, facilitating the work of preaching and pastoring that they were unable to do themselves. The Reformation THRIVED because of supportive faithful wives. NO 3: They were given to hospitality They took in visiting pastors, orphans, refuges running for their lives, many times from other countries all because they were believing and confessing Scripture. They fed them, clothed them, encouraged them, sacrificing a great amounts of time, energy, and finances. NO 4: They stewarded their intellectual abilities “Their education was a means of using God-given intellect in order to bear more fruit." - Rebecca Vandoodewaard These women were part of raising up a next generation of theologians! That’s us too - discipling women to Read the Word and obey the Words of God, teaching our children the commands of God, training us, our friends, our children to be thinkers and learners flushing all things through God sufficient word. Reformation ABCs: The People, Places, and Things of the Reformation―from A to Z $15.29 By Stephen J. Nichols The Spark of the Reformation 500 years ago on October 31st 1517, Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to a church door in Wittenberg Germany. The Reformation is quite remarkable and shows the amazing complex web God weaved to bring necessary reformation to the church. Ad Fontes It starts with this movement among Renaissance Humanists to "go back to the source" of their reasoning and thought. Protestant Reformers also returned to the Bible as the primary source of their faith. Erasmus and Luther Erasmus - Roman Catholic who translated the New Testament to Greek (to be more accurate than the Latin Vulgate. His work exposed Scriptures that were being taught incorrectly. He wanted reform in the Catholic church but moral reform. Luther - Martin Luther was a monk who started to read the Greek translation of the Bible and his heart was lit on fire for the Word of God. He saw that salvation was by faith alone and that the Roman Catholic Church was teaching a works based, paid based salvation. He wanted reform - for the Pope and the counsels to submit to the authority of God's Word. He nailed 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg. Eventually he was excommunicated from the Catholic Church. Four Blessings of the Reformation There are SO many more, but here are four: That we have a Bible in our our language! Scripture is self-authenticating - because Scripture are God’s Words - we can be certain it’s true The Church isn’t the authority on what people need to know, or the authority on who has salvation - the Bible is the Authority and God is the grace giver The great exchange: Jesus takes our sins, we take on His righteousness - justification by faith alone hat salvation by faith alone is being preached without fear or threat of being burned at the stake.
