“Eternal Flame” is another song that came into my head from out of nowhere. It just started playing in my mind on its own. I remembered the song, but I had never heard of (or don't remember) an all-girl band called The Bangles. The group was popular in the 1980s. Susanna Hoff, their lead singer, wrote Eternal Flame with songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. The idea came from a Cyndi Lauper song Hoff admired, and from the eternal flame shrine near the Elvis Presley tomb in Graceland, where The Bangles saw it. “Eternal Flame” became one of The Bangles' biggest hits, reaching #1 in nine countries, including the USA in 1989. I still don't know why “Eternal Flame” barged unannounced into my head, but I'm glad it did. The song is BEAUTIFUL. Here's my cover. Chapters (00:00:08) - Close Your Eyes, Give Me Your Hand

It's Marvel Monday and Thor gets a colorful cosmic makeover! ABOUT THOR: RAGNAROK Imprisoned on the planet Sakaar, Thor must race against time to return to Asgard and stop Ragnarök, the destruction of his world, at the hands of the powerful and ruthless villain Hela. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR THOR: RAGNAROK 2017 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF THOR: RAGNAROK Director: Taika Waititi Writers: Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost Cast: Chris Hemsworth as Thor Tom Hiddleston as Loki Cate Blanchett as Hela Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk Anthony Hopkins as Odin Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS Two years after the Sokovia situation, Thor finds himself captured by a fire demon, who ominously reveals that Odin is no longer in Asgard—and that the realm's destruction, which he calls Ragnarök, is inevitable. The demon claims it will only occur when his crown is reunited with the Eternal Flame. Thor is like ok cool, then he breaks free, defeats the demon, and takes the crown, convinced he's just saved Asgard from its fate. Back home, things are… off. Idris Elba is missing, and “Odin” is acting suspiciously theatrical, literally have plays put on about the story of Thor and Loki and Asgard. Shocker, it's actually Loki in disguise. Thor forces Loki to come clean, and with help from Doctor Strange, they track down the real Odin in Norway. There, Odin reveals the truth: he's dying, and his passing will unleash Hela, his long-hidden firstborn daughter. Once the ruthless leader of Asgard's armies, Hela was erased from history when her hunger for power became too much—even for Odin. Odin dies. Hela arrives. And within minutes, she destorys thor's hammer like it's nothing. Loki is like UH OH BRING US BACK which opens the portal to get them home. But Hela hops in and knocks them out of the portal into space. She returns to Asgard, quickly conquers it, kills people, and does alot of bad stuff. Meanwhile, Thor crash-lands on Sakaar—a chaotic junk planet ruled by the eccentric Grandmaster. Captured and enslaved by a scrapper known as 142 (who actually used to be Valkyrie), Thor is forced into gladiator combat… where he comes face-to-face with none other than Hulk. Thor nearly wins using newfound lightning powers, but the Grandmaster rigs the fight, keeping Hulk his champion. Still in jail, Thor tries to rally Hulk and Valkyrie to help save Asgard, but neither is interested—until a series of events, including a recording from Natasha Romanoff, brings Bruce Banner back. Valkyrie finally agrees to help, and with Loki involved, they steal a ship, spark a gladiator uprising and make their escape. Back on Asgard, Hela's forces are closing in on the remaining citizens. It's not looking good.. Thor shows up to confronts Hela but realizes the truth: she's too powerful to defeat. After losing his eye in battle, Thor has a vision of Odin that changes everything—Ragnarök isn't something to prevent… it's the only way to stop Hela. Thor makes sure to fulfill the prophecy—destroying Asgard and killing Hela in the process. With their home gone but their people alive, Thor—now king—leads the Asgardians aboard a stolen ship, finally reconciling with Loki and setting a course for Earth… only to be interrupted by a massive, looming spacecraft waiting in their path. Tips for maintaining that creative spark. TODAY'S QUESTION: Gentlemen, Let me get right to it. I love your work. Each one of you has made top shelf independently produced work. Comedy, music, games, podcasts. I can't imagine it has always been easy but hopefully, you've always found it rewarding. I've had the good fortune of publishing a handful of short stories in online journals and anthologies. I have long-term goals of self publishing a collection (with reasonable goals and even more reasonable expectations). Long term because I know how much work it will take to do it right. So how do I keep that indie motivation alive and well when it gets tough and no one is asking for the work? With all the love for what you do, Patrick LINKS Vote for the winning advice! Key Takeaways This episode of the Empowered Spirit Show focuses on the theme of self-love, urging listeners to shift their focus from external validation to internal cultivation of love and self-worth. Hosted by Terry Ann Hyman, the episode combines personal anecdotes, insightful observations, and a guided meditation to provide a comprehensive guide to embracing self-love. The Problem with Outward-Focused Love Terri Ann Heiman points out a common pattern, especially among women, of excelling at loving others—partners, children, clients—while neglecting their own needs. This outward focus often leads to a sense of being lost, as individuals give away their power and constantly seek external validation for their worth. Two Patterns of Self-Abandonment The episode identifies two primary ways people abandon themselves in the pursuit of love and wholeness: Losing Ourselves in Love: This pattern involves giving so much to others that one's own well-being is depleted. It's a form of self-abandonment that can be disguised as devotion or service. The External Search for Wholeness: This is the continuous and exhausting search for the next book, workshop, or teacher that promises to make one feel complete. This behavior stems from the belief that something essential is missing within. A Personal Journey to Self-Love Terri Ann shares a deeply personal story of transformation. She recounts how she ignored her intuition about her husband's infidelity, a painful experience that ultimately led her to a profound realization. The moment of crisis became a turning point, prompting her to question who she had been listening to and to start tuning into her own inner voice. The High Cost of Ignoring Your Inner Voice The consequences of not listening to one's inner guidance can be severe, leading to a loss of confidence, a diminished sense of self, and a breakdown of trust in oneself and others. Terry Ann describes this period as feeling disconnected and like a "shell going through the motions." The Path to Reclaiming Self-Love The episode outlines a path to rediscovering and nurturing self-love, which includes: The Power of the Pause: Taking a deliberate break from the constant outward search for answers and validation. Connecting with Inner Guidance: Learning to listen to and trust one's intuition and higher self. Embracing Spiritual Practices: The host highlights the role of practices like Reiki and a daily morning ritual of asking for inner guidance. Guided Meditation for Self-Love A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to a guided meditation. This practice is designed to help listeners connect with their inner selves and cultivate a sense of self-love through breathing exercises, visualizations, and affirmations. The Transformative Power of Self-Love By prioritizing self-love, individuals can stop seeking external validation and begin to source love from within. This shift in focus allows one to operate from a place of fullness and to trust their inner knowing, even in the face of external opposition. The episode emphasizes that you become the "frequency you've been seeking." Paramahansa Yogananda, which so beautifully encapsulates our journey today. He reminds us not to focus on our smallness, on the little wave that feels battered by life. He says, "Don't look to your little body; look within." He urges us to remember that behind every small wave is the entire vastness of the ocean. Yogananda teaches that the ultimate source of love and self-worth comes from only one place—within. From our higher Self. He says, "What you are is much greater than anything or anyone else you have ever yearned for... for within your soul lies the greatest treasure of all — God." He reminds us of our indestructible nature with these powerful words: "You are a spark of an Eternal Flame. You can hide the spark, but you can never destroy it." So, the invitation, as you go forward from this space, is to carry this truth in your heart. The next time you feel yourself seeking outside for validation, or losing yourself in the service of others, or feeling that you are not enough, pause. Remember the ocean within you. Remember the eternal spark you carry. In Yogananda's own words: "Even while striving to improve yourself, learn to stand alone, secure in your own virtues and self-worth." That is the essence of pausing to love. It is standing secure in the truth of who you are. Thank you for journeying with me today. Until next time, trust, believe, and know thyself to be LOVE. To your spirit! Terri PS... Schedule your complimentary Spiritual Upgrade Call here.

This episode rips open one of the mimic's oldest operating systems: the Shrink-Spell. For centuries, humanity has been trained to see itself as small, sinful, unworthy — taught to beg through prayer, to climb endless ladders beneath saints, councils, and gurus, to outsource power and wait for permission. Religion built it. The New Age rebranded it. Both keep humans paralyzed, dependent, and harvested.Kelly takes you through the forensic breakdown: how prayer encodes subjugation in its very root (precari = to beg), how hierarchies institutionalized daily smallness, how “sending prayers” and “prayer circles” are just softer packaging for the same trap. We look at the damage — paralysis, dependency, emotional leakage, and the performance of care without action. And we expose why the phrase “I'm praying for you” lands like a curse. Then comes the correction. The Eternal Flame does not pray. It emanates, breathes, stands-with, and acts. Presence is the grammar. Petition is mimic. You'll hear what actually replaces prayer: field-holding, breath coherence, tone emission, and embodied action. You'll hear the call to retire the word prayer completely and speak in Flame grammar instead. This is the override: Drop the ladder. Burn the word. Replace every petition with presence. If today's episode lit something in you, don't stop there. Dive deeper into our two foundational transmissions at Elumenate Media: “Burn the Ladder: How the Mimic Shrinks Humanity and Steals Our Power” and “The Death of Prayer: How the Mimic Turned Petition Into Control.” These articles unpack the hierarchies that render our sovereignty invisible, expose the infection of petition in religious and spiritual systems, and lay bare why prayer as we've been taught is one of the mimic's oldest containment tools. Read them to sharpen your awareness—and to build the clarity and courage you need to refuse the mimic's architecture, reclaim your voice, and live the Flame in full embodiment.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/warrior-of-truth--6035153/support.

In this episode, Kelly goes straight into the heart of Eternal Flame Physics—what it truly is, and what it is not. Eternal Flame Physics is the pre-fall science of creation: the original, still-point mechanics of breath, flame tone, and internal coherence. She breaks down how creation was structured before polarity, before timelines, before externalization. She also traces what happened after the falls—how post-fall physics introduced spin, charge, and externalized structures that became the scaffolding for mimic systems. She explains the differences between Eternal Flame Physics and fallen post-fall sciences, from quantum models to ascension grids, and why none of those represent the original. From there, we dive into the mimic grid itself: how flame beings gradually lost coherence, the sequence of the falls in external creation, and how mimic overlays were engineered to replace internal remembrance with externalized mechanics. We'll cover the history of how containment systems were built and how mimic physics now masquerade as truth.By the end of the episode, the contrast is clear: Eternal Flame Physics restores coherence, remembrance, and the original internal mechanics of creation—while the mimic grid feeds on distortion, spin, and separation. For those who want to go deeper, visit Elumenate Media—a space dedicated to long-form transmissions that unravel the mimic grid, restore the remembrance of Eternal Flame Physics, and expose the hidden structures shaping our world. There you'll find in-depth articles, investigative exposés, and multidimensional teachings that expand on what we explore here in the podcast. Elumenate Media is where the full transmissions live—truth carried through tone, coherence, and remembrance. And join Kelly for Eternal Flame Physics II: Core Mechanics on Saturday, September 13th from 11am–2pm EST (3 hours · via Zoom · $225). This live class goes beyond introduction, guiding you into the core mechanics of the Flame Body and the original pre-fall physics of creation. Together we'll dismantle post-fall distortions, trace how mimic grids were built, and restore the internal coherence that cannot be hijacked. Send us a textIn this special, two part travelogue, we take you along with our host through Atlanta and south west Georgia as we visit several of the most historic spots in the nation. In this first episode we head into Atlanta and visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library. We will look back on some of the major accomplishments of the Carter years and some of his post Presidency work helping with elections, eradicating diseases, and continuing to teach Sunday School in his local Church. We will in this visit show you around the museum and relive a few of these special moments. Then we will drive about five minutes down the street to visit the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Site run by the National Park Service. It encapsulates an entire Atlanta neighborhood and features the historic Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Dr. King served as an assistant Pastor alongside his father. It also includes his boyhood home and an extraordinary museum about his life where you can see his Nobel Peace Prize. In fact, Atlanta boasts one of the few places where you can see two Nobel Peace Prizes on display with in five minutes of each other between Dr. King and President Carter. You can tour the Ebenezer Baptist Church, and the King Center, and walk down by the reflecting pool and Eternal Flame where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and his wife Coretta Scott King are entombed. It is an extraordinary Historic Site and we hope you will tune in and learn about the Civil Right Era that was born here in this Atlanta neighborhood. Then in our next episode, we will head out into rural Georgia to visit the historic Little White House where Franklin D. Roosevelt stayed off and on for 21 years as he fought to recover from his debilitating Polio illness, and we will also visit the small southern , rural , Georgia town that Rosalyn & Jimmy Carter called home, Plains. RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot recap the Mariners' Ichiro celebration weekend, praising the team's tribute while questioning the odd inclusion of Tom Brady in the video montage—especially after deliberately omitting Alex Rodriguez to avoid boos. Episode 346's “area code spotlight” on Houston's, highlights a long list of famous residents and musical talent from ZZ Top and Kenny Rogers to Beyoncé and Travis Scott. Mitch and Hotshot marvel at the Mariners' blistering run—seven straight wins, 13 games over .500, and now just a game behind the Astros with 43 to play. With stars like Gino Suarez yet to heat up and pitching still not at peak form, the duo wonders just how high this team's ceiling might be. In this Mariners No-Table, Mitch, Joe Doyle, and Brady Farkas break down Seattle's 9–1 homestand, surging offense, and remarkable lineup depth even with Gino Suarez and Cal Raleigh struggling. They debate bullpen concerns—especially Andres Muñoz's command—plus looming roster decisions with Luke Raley and Victor Robles returning. Jacson Bevens joins Mitch for some key takeaways from Seattle's preseason opener, spotlighting rookie WR Tory Horton's strong debut, dynamic fullback usage, and a cleverly schemed interception that showcased Mike Macdonald's defense. They discuss the ceiling and depth of the defense, the roles of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, and the need for top performances from CBs Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon. In this re-aired classic, John Tesh tells Mitch the now-famous story of how “Roundball Rock” was born, from humming the tune into his answering machine in Europe to bringing it to life in the studio. He shares behind-the-scenes details about working with NBC, the song's enduring legacy, and his surprise at how deeply it has embedded itself in basketball culture. Vicki Peterson & John Cowsill in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.vickipetersonandjohncowsill.com/ ‘Long After The Fire' sees Vicki Peterson of The Bangles (whose work includes worldwide smash hits such as ‘Eternal Flame' and ‘Walk Like An Egyptian') team up with John Cowsill, drummer/vocalist for The Beach Boys for over 23 years and an original member of the platinum-selling family band The Cowsills, Their debut album as a duo, ‘Long After The Fire' is a set of Americana songs written by John's late brothers, Barry and Bill Cowsill.A new single from the album entitled ‘Is Anybody Here' is out today (21st March), with Peterson revealing that “it is the song that kicked off the entire ‘Long After The Fire' record. John and Paul Allen recorded this track at Sun Studios in Memphis, without me, in the spur of the moment and absolutely set the template for the album. At this stage, John and I were considering calling the project Dead Brothers!”
One of the biggest songs of the 80s that started out with almost all the right people, but needed some time for everyone to settle into the right role before it could become absolutely iconic. Alone, originally by I-Ten, covered by Heart, and by Celine Dion. Outro music is Eternal Flame, by The Bangles, which was also written by the guys from I-Ten, who are really all over this episode.
Last year, Babsi Zangerl did something no one has ever done before—she flashed a route on El Capitan. Thousands of feet of hard climbing with no falls. Her partner, Jacopo Larcher, came really close, taking just one fall during their ascent of Freerider. Zangerl has been a climber for over two decades, since she was a teenager at a climbing gym in Austria. But what, and how, she climbs has evolved over that time—she spent her early years as a professional boulderer. Zangerl first visited Yosemite fifteen years ago with her friend Hansjörg Auer. She was getting more serious about ropes after sustaining a serious back injury while bouldering. Since that first trip in 2010, Zangerl has returned with Larcher to free climb many of the valley's classic routes, including Zodiac, Magic Mushroom and the Nose. In 2018 the pair climbed the North Face of the Eiger. In 2022 they freed Eternal Flame on Pakistan's Nameless Tower, a trip Larcher wrote about in Alpinist 82. And their list of accomplishments just keeps growing. In this episode, Zangerl talks about the beginnings of her climbing career in Austria, her partnership with Larcher, learning the ropes from Hansjörg Auer and much more. This episode is brought to you with support from the American Alpine Club. Wilmington, Delaware's George Thorogood got his start on acoustic blues. He formed a band called the Delaware Destroyers in 1973, and this would eventually become his band, known as George Thorogood & The Destroyers. He released his first record in 1977, and received more mainstream notice when he opened for the Rolling Stones in 1981. The same year his touring schedule included the “50/50 tour” where George Thorogood & the Destroyers toured all 50 states in 50 days. Thorogood's high energy shows and relentless touring schedule would be a hallmark of the band, creating a dedicated audience worldwide. The 1980's saw a resurgence in interest in blues rock, and this was a benefit for George Thorrogood. The band would see continued success from their commercial breakthrough album, “Bad to the Bone,” released in 1982. Albums would consist of both original material and covers of classic blues songs. Much of their material has a humorous angle, though the blues style is solid and unapologetic, drawing influence from such artists as Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, and Bo Diddley. The George Thorogood Collection showcases some of the biggest hits from the band throughout the 70's and 80's. It was released in March 1989, and we will be covering several hits from this album today.Wayne takes us through this blues boogie greatest hits album for this week's podcast. I Drink AloneOne of the better known George Thorogood hits, this pun-laden song peaked at number 13 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, and was an original from Thorogood. “Now every morning just before breakfast, I don't want no coffee or tea. Just me and by good buddy Weiser - that's all I ever need.”Bad to the BoneThis is the signature song of George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Despite failing to crack the Top 100 in the US, it is universally identifiable from commercials, TV shows, movies, and the song itself. It has been in over 25 films, including the iconic biker scene from “Terminator 2.”Move It On OverWhile this song does not appear on the “Collection,” we had to include it in this look at the band. It is a cover song originally written and recorded by Hank Williams in 1947, and depicts the struggles of a guy who has come home late and found himself - literally - in the doghouse.Gear JammerThe deeper cut originally came out in 1985, and has become an anthem of truckers everywhere. It talks about rolling down the road in an 18-wheeler, and looking to make time so the trucker can get home to his baby. You'll find yourself moving at a high speed if you play this song in your car! ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Bad Boys by Inner Circle (from the television series “COPS”)This reality-based show premiered in 1989, and had an iconic song with a reggae riff. STAFF PICKS:You're What You Want to Be by Cruel Story of YouthRob launches the staff picks with a deep cut from a lost band. This Wisconsin foursome produced their only album (self-titled) in 1989). The song itself is a good one in the alternative music genre, though it seems overproduced to us. Girl You Know Its True by Milli VanilliBruce risks cancellation from the show for putting this decidedly non-rock travesty on the picks. Milli Vanilli released the album of the same name, which got them both commercial success and critical recognition via a Grammy award in 1989 despite not singing a note on the album. No musical survey of 1989 would be complete without acknowledging the Milli Vanilli controversy.Eternal Flame by The BanglesLynch brings us a ballad from Susanna Hoffs from the girl group The Bangles. They started their career singing 60's rock songs, then incorporated some 70's punk before hitting it big with their own material. It topped the charts in 9 different countries. You Got It by Roy OrbisonWayne closes out the staff picks with a hit posthumously released from Roy Orbison's album "Mystery Girl." It went to number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Fellow Traveling Wilburys alumni Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne co-wrote the song with Orbison, and they play on the single along with an uncredited George Harrison. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Ytse Jam by Dream TheaterWe close out with a prog rock instrumental from Dream Theater's debut album. As a founding member of the iconic all-girl band The Bangles, Susanna Hoffs is perhaps most associated with 80s hits like “Manic Monday,” “Eternal Flame,” and “Walk Like An Egyptian.” After releasing three platinum-selling albums, in 1989 The Bangles broke up. Two years later, Susanna started to release solo material before reuniting with The Bangles at the end of the 90s. Over the years Susanna has continued to release music and act in movies. She even appeared in all three Austin Powers films as part of a fictional Mod band. This year Susanna has added another creative pursuit to her repertoire—she's now a published novelist. Her first book, This Bird Has Flown, was released in April. And she put out her latest collection of cover songs on the album The Deep End produced by the great Peter Asher. On today's episode Justin Richmond talks to Susanna Hoffs about how Bruce Springsteen helped The Bangles secure a record deal after seeing them play at an amusement park in Southern California. She also tells the story of first listening to Prince's demo of “Manic Monday.” You can hear a playlist of some of our favorite Susanna Hoffs songs HERE.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
