Legalism or LoveIn this message from the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Jason challenges the tension between legalism and the heart of God's love, grace, and truth for marriage between a man and women. Jesus confronts the cultural understanding of divorce while offering hope and healing to those who have walked through it or are living on the other side of it. Pastor Jason also unpacks the value, dignity, and spiritual significance of women in a culture that often diminished them. He clarifies verses in the Bible that often bring confusion surrounding women in ministry, offering contextual clarity and sharing where we stand as a church on women in spiritual leadership.Messages, teaching and encouragement from Pneuma Life Church pastors and leaders! In this powerful message, Pastor Servando Valdvinos continues our "New Way To Be Human" series by unpacking the second half of Ephesians 5:18: "Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit." Moving from Genesis to Revelation, Pastor Servando explains how the Holy Spirit (Ruach in Hebrew or Pneuma in Greek) isn't just an optional addition to the Christian life—He is the very breath that gives us physical and spiritual vitality. Whether you feel like you are walking through a valley of dry bones or simply coasting on a low spiritual tank, this message is a vital reminder that God respects your choice and is ready to pour out His presence to overfill your cup the moment you remove the lid.

Continua...
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 5:10In this message, Pastor Jason unpacks Matthew 5:10 and what it really means to be persecuted for living rightly. Persecution isn't punishment, it's often confirmation you're walking in step with God's Kingdom. He also brings clarity to a key question: What is true biblical persecution? Not every disagreement or hardship qualifies. Biblical persecution is opposition that comes because of your alignment with Jesus and His righteousness.Messages, teaching and encouragement from Pneuma Life Church pastors and leaders! “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9 What does it really mean to be a peacemaker? In this message, Pastor Jessica unpacks the powerful difference between peacekeeping and peacemaking. One avoids conflict… the other transforms it. As children of God, we carry His authority and His Spirit. That means we're not called to keep the peace at all costs, but to bring a deeper, Spirit-led peace into our relationships, our conversations, and even the hardest situations. This kind of peace doesn't come from avoiding tension. It comes from stepping fully into who God says you are. And it may not look the way you think. Listen in as we explore what it truly means to live as peacemakers. **Due to technical difficulties, the first 3-4 minutes of the message was lost. What does it really mean to be PURE in heart? In this message from the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Jason unpacks the powerful words of Jesus: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”This isn't about perfection on the outside. It's about transformation on the inside.Purity of heart is about motive, surrender, and a life fully aligned with God.When our hearts are undivided, our vision becomes clear and we begin to see God move in every area of our lives. If you've ever wrestled with distractions, double-mindedness, or hidden struggles, this message will challenge and encourage you to pursue a deeper, more authentic walk with Jesus.Messages, teaching and encouragement from Pneuma Life Church pastors and leaders! “Blessed are the merciful…” — easy to say, much harder to live.In this message, Pastor Jason dives into what mercy really looks like when you've been wronged. Not in theory… but in the real-life moments where forgiveness feels undeserved and holding onto hurt feels justified. What if your response to others is actually revealing what you believe about God's mercy toward you? This episode will challenge your heart, shift your perspective, and invite you into a deeper understanding of grace—not just receiving it, but extending it.Because mercy isn't weakness. It's evidence you've encountered the mercy of God.Messages, teaching and encouragement from Pneuma Life Church pastors and leaders! Do you realize that if you have given your life to Jesus you have been filled with his Spirit and therefore, you have the mind of Christ?!?!? That's right!!! You have the mind of Christ so your life should reflect that. When we look at the church at Corinth, whom Paul calls holy, they are lacking in the category! There are things going on that do not reflect Christ in that church and Paul is saying to them, “What are yall doing? Why do yall have divisions among you? Yall should all be focused on Jesus and nobody else!” Why? Because they have been given freely the Holy Spirit of God and through the Spirit, they have the mind of Christ and God reveals His secrets to them through His Spirit.
In Part 3 of the Armor Up series, Pastor Jason talks about what it means to stand on the GOSPEL OF PEACE… and carry it everywhere we go.In a culture where so many people are living from a place of anger or people-pleasing, God calls us to be PEACE-MAKERS. Peace doesn't ignore reality.Peace doesn't pretend things aren't hard. Now when all the people were baptized and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 3:21-22 NRSVUE What if the doctrine of the Trinity—often seen as a rigid, confusing math problem—was actually one of the most radical, inclusive, and “queer” ideas in history? At Open Table MCC, we believe the Trinity isn’t just an ancient dogma; it is a vibrant invitation to community. While many progressive spaces might shy away from traditional doctrines due to their historical misuse, we choose to reclaim them. We dig beneath the layers of colonial and imperial history to find the liberating truth at the center: God is not a solitary ruler, but a community of love. Beyond the Binary The history of the Trinity goes back to the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. The early church wrestled with a massive question: Was Jesus truly God, or just a human? Was he divine, or created?. The Council's answer was refusal to choose a binary. They declared Jesus is both fully God and fully human. They affirmed that God is One, yet Three—Parent, Child, and Spirit. To the human mind, this is “mental gymnastics”. But to the soul, it is a profound truth: God transcends our limited categories. God is relational, not individual: The very “Godness” of God is relationship, not isolation. God is diverse: The Trinity unsettles the idea of a single, static monarch. Instead, we see a dynamic “Divine Dance”. Why the Trinity is “Queer” In our theological reflection, we dare to say that the Trinity is “queer”. Why? Because “queer” theology is about disrupting norms, questioning binaries, and finding the divine in the margins. It disrupts the norm: The Trinity unsettles strict monotheism by revealing a God who is both one and three. It affirms bodies: By declaring Jesus as fully human, the Trinity affirms that God has a body, a gender, and sexuality. God knows what it is to be brown-skinned, marginalized, and oppressed under empire. It invites fluidity: If God is a community of three persons, we can imagine a God who holds the fullness of the gender spectrum—Parent (Father/Mother), Son (Child), and Spirit (often associated with female or gender-neutral imagery like Ruach or Pneuma). A Promise, Not Just a Doctrine We know the doctrine of the Trinity has been used as a tool for colonization and violence. We do not ignore that history. However, we also see it as a “promise and an idea,” much like the city of Oz in the musical Wicked. It is a promise that love is not solitary. As our pastor shared, “To have faith in the Trinity is to realize that you are created in the image and likeness of this divine community”. You were created from love and for love. And just as God is a community, you can only truly experience that love through community and relationship. Living the Trinity So, what does a 1,700-year-old doctrine have to do with us today? It calls us to embody that same relational love. As Creators: We mirror the Parent/Creator when we make art, write poetry, or build something new. As Redeemers: We mirror Jesus when we forgive others and work for justice. As Advocates: We mirror the Holy Spirit when we guide, help, and stand beside one another. At Open Table MCC, we don’t just recite the creed; we dance it. We invite you to join this divine community where diversity is holy, and no one is meant to be alone. The post Trinity Revealed appeared first on Open Table Metropolitan Community Church.
The second message in Pastor Jason's “Armor Up” series was such a powerful reminder. When armies went into battle, the breastplate was what allowed them to stand confidently on the front lines because they knew they were protected. In the same way, when we truly understand our righteousness in Christ, we can stand confidently too. Not because we are perfect, but because we are covered, secured, and strengthened by Him.

Did you know the Church in Philadelphia was the only one in Revelation that Jesus had no correction for? He called them faithful, steadfast, and true. Even though they had little strength, they kept His Word and did not deny His name.Philadelphia was known as the “missionary church,” a doorway city used to spread the gospel to surrounding regions, and that's exactly what Jesus promised: “See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.”This reminds us that faithfulness isn't about how strong we feel, but how steadfast we remain. Do you need the Holy Spirit? In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally helps us understand that the Holy Spirit isn't optional in the Christian life—He's the source of it. Who Is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is God. The Hebrew word Ruach and the Greek word Pneuma both mean "wind" or "breath." The Holy Spirit is a person—He feels, speaks, and can be hurt by how we live. Ephesians 4:30 (NLT): "Do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live." 1 Thessalonians 5:19 (ESV): "Do not quench the Spirit." You determine how much of the Spirit you experience. The Holy Spirit isn't a power you use—He's a person you know. What Is the Holy Spirit Like? The Holy Spirit isn't weird—people are. Like the wind, He is: Invisible. John 14:17 (NIV). You may not see Him, but you can see His results. Unpredictable. John 3:8 (NIV). You can't control or schedule Him—you can only make room for Him. What Does the Holy Spirit Do? He provides power. Acts 1:8 (NLT): "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you." He isn't an accessory; He's the power supply. He gives gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:4 (NLT): "...different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all." They're for showing love, not off. He cleanses us. 1 Corinthians 6:11 (NLT): "...you were cleansed... by the Spirit of our God." Jesus forgives sin; the Spirit fixes character. He teaches us. John 14:26 (ESV): "...the Helper... will teach you all things..." He turns Scripture from words you read into words you live. He guides us. Romans 8:14 (NLT): "...all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God." He's your guide and guardrail—follow Him, and you won't lose your way. He helps us. John 14:16–17 (NIV): "...he will give you another advocate to help you..." When you can't, He can. He convicts us. John 16:8 (NLT): "He will convict the world of its sin." Conviction draws you to God. "It's God's job to judge, the Spirit's to convict, and ours to love." —Billy Graham He fellowships with us. 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NLT): "... the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." He wants relationship, not visitation rights. Closing At the source of the Nile, a hidden spring flows north, bringing life wherever it goes. When the Holy Spirit is your source, your life flows upward toward God. John 7:38–39 (NIV): "Rivers of living water will flow from within them... By this he meant the Spirit." Stay connected to the Source—and His life will flow through every part of yours. Is the Holy Spirit your source?

What most people believe about "The Sabbath" is a false view of God's design and rest for our lives. Pastor Jason breaks down the theological and practical understanding of what Jesus called us ALL to walk away from (culture's hustle) and walk into (Peace, rest, dependance on God).Pneuma Life Church with Pastors Jason & Jessica Huffman in Saint Johns, Florida. This past week our nation has faced unrest and tragedy that has rocked believers to the core.. In this message, Pastor Jason speaks directly to the pain, the evil, and the darkness that surrounds us. He reminds us that it all begins with what is in our hearts. Every person has a choice. As believers, we must decide what we will follow: Jesus, or the way of the world!
Hello, Martinis and Your Money listeners! Whether you just found the show or were a longtime listener, I wanted to hop on here and share what's been happening in my life since I stopped recording new episodes at the end of 2024. As many of you know, in 2013, I founded the company Financial Gym and ran the company through good days and bad days until March 15th, 2025. On that date, I had the unthinkable happen to me, at least what was unthinkable to me. I had a mental health breakdown that led to me being taken from my home, pantsless, and in handcuffs. Yep, you heard that right. This type A overachiever had something unthinkable happen, and this was never a scenario that I had on my life bingo card. But yet, there I was, and that was the hand I was dealt. After three days in the institution, I knew I needed a break from work, so I put in for a mental health leave until May 1st. Immediately while I was on leave, the investors of the company decided to sell Financial Gym to a wealth management company run by two men. For those of you who don't know me, I left Merrill Lynch in 2013 to create something different, and now all of my 12 years of life focused on serving the underserved and bringing change in their lives was erased, and I was being asked to move backward in time. It was a gut punch to say the least, but it was also an answer to prayers I had been praying, and that was the opportunity to take Financial Gym and financial wellness in a different direction. It gave me the freedom to leave and start Collective Wellness Revival, a truly one-of-a-kind wellness company that I think we all need in our lives. I spent the last 12 years of my life in the most intimate way possible, diving deep into people's money habits and behaviors, and while I was doing that, I kept noticing the interconnectedness of financial wellness with the other areas of wellness, predominantly your physical and your mental wellness. There were many times where I almost felt it was wrong to offer people financial wellness, while also not offering them mental and physical wellness. Well, three days in a mental institution actually also reminded me there's a fourth area of wellness, and that is your spiritual or soul level wellness, the area deep down inside most of us that we never get to attack because we're like hamsters on a wheel just trying to get through the surface level areas of life. But we are all beautiful and connected souls here for a reason but life “lifes” us, all of us really hard. And especially the last few months and our souls get lost in the process. I've realized that I've been on my own soul discovery journey for the past 17 years. And in the past five months, since I left my Gym journey, I've been given the gift to truly learn, know, and understand the soul behind Shannon. I knew I wanted to create a company like this for years, and I'm grateful for three powerhouse women stepping in and stepping up to help me launch the first stage of this company, which is a one-of-a-kind, one-on-one coaching program. For one monthly fee, you can work on any area of wellness you choose. Every wellness journey is unique, and now you can explore all areas of your wellness: mind, body, money, and soul under one tent. And coaching is just the beginning. Our big goal is to grow a collective of like-minded women and our allies to support and encourage each other through these crazy and chaotic times we live in. This is the perfect time for everyone to work on the most epic project of our lives. And that's us. I think of the revival as the perfect place to work on Project YOU. Who are YOU? Why are YOU here? What do YOU want to do in life? Most of us are living who we think we are. Daughters, sisters, mothers, partners, co-workers, bosses, CEOs. But none of us, none of us are really these roles. They're just roles we get to play in this life. They're not really who we are. If you want to explore YOU deeper and work with me as a coach, you should check out the Soul House for what I'm calling Pneuma or Soul Level Coaching. If you liked my money coaching philosophy, wait till you discover my Soul Level Coaching. But also, if you loved my money coaching philosophy, you can still access it through the Revival and our Money House, led by my new friend Melanie and some other familiar faces. Anywho, I hope you'll support me and the ladies by joining and taking advantage of our offering and helping us build this new collective. Martinis and Your Money listeners will always have access to founder member pricing, which starts at $100 a month. But we have limited spaces for this launch. So head over to or send friends to collectivewellnessrevival.com/coaching to sign up today. And until next time everybody, cheers! SIGN UP TODAY!!

In this episode, I begin Book 4 of Meditations with reflection 4.1, a powerful meditation that compares the rational mind to a fire that consumes everything it encounters, growing stronger because of obstacles rather than being snuffed out by them. Marcus is teaching us that when we align our rational faculty with Nature, we develop the ability to transform adversity into fuel for flourishing. I explore the Stoic concepts of the hegemonikon, the daemon, and how humans uniquely possess a concentrated portion of the divine Logos—making us capable of rationality in a way no other beings are. I explain how Pneuma and Tonos work to contain Reason in the Cosmos and connect this to the philosophical notion that our true “self” is the divine spark within us. In the listener Q&A, I respond to a question about how to manage aging parents with grace and justice, emphasizing the Stoic responsibility to act fairly without compromising other vital roles. Meditations 4.1 “The sovereign power within, in its natural state, so confronts what comes to pass as always to adapt itself readily to what is feasible and is presented to it. This is because it puts its affection upon no material of its own choice; rather it sets itself upon its objects with a reservation, and then makes the opposition which encounters it into material for itself. It is like a fire, when it masters what falls into it, whereby a little taper would have been put out, but a bright fire very quickly appropriates and devours what is heaped upon it, and leaps up higher out of those very obstacles.” THREE TAKEAWAYS — The Stoic “sovereign power within” refers to our rational faculty, which is naturally adaptive when aligned with Nature. — Humans uniquely embody a concentrated share of the divine Logos, and this forms the essence of our self—our daemon. — Caring for others, like aging parents, must be guided by Reason and Justice, not guilt or emotional manipulation.
