We're celebrating a huge milestone with Episode 300 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, and a future first ballot Hall of Fame guest in Marc-Andre Fleury. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Fleury shares advice and insights from a 22-season career that began as the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NHL Draft, and finishes second all-time to only Martin Brodeur in games played (1,051) and wins (575), third behind Brodeur and Roberto Luongo in saves (27,188), tied with Ed Belfour and Tony Esposito for 10th in shutouts (76), and as well liked as any goalie to play the game. The three-time Stanley Cup winner has advice for young goalies hoping to follow a path filled with entertaining pokechecks, pad stacks, and the signature smile to match the ones that he put on so the face of so many fans.In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we continue the celebratory theme with a look back at some of our favourite advice from past guests, whether it was Roberto Luongo in Episode 1 or Eric Comrie and Connor Hellebuyck making it okay for goalies of all ages to improve their edges at public skates. We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features Joey Daccord of the Seattle Kraken breaking down a high tip option and some of the positional and skating keys to best manage it.And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports to look at the new Warrior Ritual X5 chest protector -- both the Pro and RTL models -- with a new camo-themed look and some exciting new features.

In this week's edition of Overdrive Radio, January Trucker of the Month Ken Brodeur, owner-operator out of Escondido, California, tells the tale of his circuitous path to trucking over three decades of prior IT tech and music-industry careers. He leased and then purchased his first and current truck in 2016, a new Kenworth W9 that he's kept in great working order ever since, with a diligent maintenance approach, some good luck, and plenty in the way of shrewd decision-making over tumultuous years for trucking, the economy in general and more. The flatbedder's experienced highs and lows through his now half-decade in business with authority, before that leased to Landstar, learning from successes and failures and putting them into practice. In essence, as a fellow owner and friend said about him in Cole's feature story, Brodeur's just “one of them good old success stories” in trucking. In some ways, Brodeur's is a story that repeats itself all around the nation for owner-operators who successfully manage revenue against costs for solid income. It's a tale of a man who “started with a big company and moved his way up, bought himself a truck, got himself a trailer and watched his Ps and Qs," his friend said. "Just a true owner-operator.” Meantime, Brodeur's made good on a long-term goal of greater control of his life, with full control of his business. Michael Andor Broudeur is a classical music critic for the Washington Post and he's also a self-described “meathead” with an relentless desire to make his body bigger. In his book “Swole: The Making of Man and the Meaning of Muscle” Broudeur grapples with the contradictions and complexities of male body image and masculinity. He embraces the gay male gym culture he's a part of but writes that it would be silly “to try and distance the symbol of the buff male bod from its long and wide lineage of unsavory cultural signifiers. As a mascot for classical beauty, the meathead must also embody white supremacy, hetero-patriarchy, and a vast panoply of nationalisms.” We listen back to our June conversation with Brodeur about how weight training has shifted his perspective on what it means to be a man. As we continue with Sweeps Period 2024, I have a fascinating conversation with Michael Andor Brodeur, to discuss his new book Swole: The Making of Men and the Meaning of Muscle. Unbeknownst to me, Michael and I must have literally been circling around each other in Boston in the 1990's. We went to some of the same gyms, we went to the same nightclubs, we had common friends. And yet we did not know each other existed until this Interview. I thoroughly enjoyed myself as we reminisced about our childhoods and the vibrant gay life of Boston during that decade. Michael also traces our toys, cartoons and comics that started many of us young men thinking about guys with muscle. And we talk about the early days of Bodybuilding and how that shaped our lives. I think you will enjoy this topic. Michael on InstagramMichael on TikTokBookShop.orgBuy 'Swole' on BookShop.org

Michael Andor Brodeur is a “big man.” That's the term he uses to describe himself after more than 30 years of lifting weights - some of those spent as a powerlifter, and all of those spent not just trying to get fit, but to get big. But for all the time he's spent in the gym over the years, he's probably spent just as much time thinking about the way men think about the connection between men, muscles, and masculinity. On this episode of Paternal, Brodeur discusses the concept of getting big and why some men are so motivated to do so, the connection between how men build their bodies and their inability to express themselves emotionally, how some men use weightlifting to deal with issues like anxiety, grief and addiction, and why the gym is a place where men are free to fail and support one another when they do fail, two things they might not be encouraged to do in other parts of society. Brodeur is the classical music critic at the Washington Post and the author of the book, Swole: The Making of Men and the Meaning of Muscle, which is available wherever you buy books.
