He also discusses losing loved ones and overcoming survivors remorse. And of course he shares how amazing it is being a GIRL DAD. Percy Butler is our Next Man Up! Logan Thomas was back at practice today and will play on Sunday. Logan provides a solid target for Sam Howell so this is a big deal. However, Percy Butler who is dealing with a foot injury was limited in practice today and is questionable for Sunday. Stoner and Nathan dive a little bit more into Sam Howell's sack numbers. Of every QB who has been drafted into the NFL since 2015, Sam Howell has the 2nd worst Pressure to Sack % while in college. Of all those QB's, he has the WORST %. This is something that he absolutely has to fix or it could spell doom for his NFL career.

Standig Room Only: A show about the Washington Football Team and D.C. sports
The Athletic's Ben Standig is here talking training camp and the Commanders via the analytics lense with Football Outsiders founder Aaron Schatz. Ben opens with the latest from Ashburn, including the status of some banged-up players (Emmanuel Forbes, Curtis Samuel, Logan Thomas) and which players/positions Ben is intrigued to watch Friday at Cleveland (Braeden Daniels, Mitchell Tinsley, Percy Butler, DL). Then Aaron enters (19:19) for thoughts on assessing Sam Howell and Eric Bieniemy, Chase Young and other player projections, whether the defense takes another leap forward, NFC East race, and teams rising/falling.

Washington Commanders held their first training camp practice and quarterback Sam Howell was a bright spot while we saw a lot of interesting things from Jack Del Rio's defense. As the Commanders got set for training camp head coach Ron Rivera told us he feels like he can finally focus on football more than ever before now that the team has been sold. He also acknowledged that he has something to prove, as does his team. In the first practice of the preseason, we saw Howell hit running back Antonio Gibson on a wheel route for an early explosive play, and that was in fact the Play of the Day. Looking at the secondary trying to decode how the many talented secondary players will be used we got no closer to figuring it out. But we did see an exciting array of combinations featuring cornerbacks Kendall Fuller, Benjamin St-Juste, Emmanuel Forbes, and Quan Martin, and safeties Kamren Curl, Darrick Forrest, and Percy Butler. In our first 'Howell Watch' we dissect the quarterback's 62 percent completion practice. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Commmanders had their first of what will likely be many memorable off-season days today. Logan Paulsen and Craig Hoffman cover all the news from Tuesday and recap the game against Dallas. First, Breaking News, Scott Turner has been relieved as the Offensive Coordinator for the Washington Commanders. This happened after Ron Rivera stated earlier that he didn't have anything to say regarding Scott. Logan and Craig take a look at the history of Scott Turner's tenure as the OC and say that while he didn't do the worst with some middling rosters, the fact he couldn't bring out the most from his skill players eventually sealed his fate. Then the guys take a look at Ron Rivera and Martin Mayhew's end-of-season press conference. The guys take a look at the answers that the two gave and ask if we are any closer to figuring out what the future of this organization holds. Then Logan and Craig start to analyze the 26-6 beatdown of the Dallas Cowboys by looking at Sam Howell's performance. Logan and Craig take a look at the rookie's first performance and ask why the staff kept saying that he wasn't prepared and is he the future quarterback for the Commanders. Finally, the guys close out the show by looking at the plays from some of the other younger players Chris Paul, Percy Butler, and Khaleke Hudson. After an offseason with more downs than ups, it's mercifully time for another Day 1 as the newly-minted Commanders suit up for training camp. Lest we be considered to be solely optimists here on The Cult Of Colt podcast, we take some time right off the bat to talk about what we're most looking forward to with camp's arrival. We're feeling VERY high on the wide receiving corps and are buoyed by the fact that we don't have to spend ANY amount of time thinking about contracts or holdouts for the best young star on the offensive unit with Terry McLaurin's contract concerns a thing of the past. Scary Terry isn't the only thing that offers hope, as we're looking forward to a (maybe?) healthy Curtis Samuel, a hungry Dyami Brown, and the arrival of Jahan Dotson. While we may not be fully Wentz Pilled, we are starting to convince ourselves that there may be more there there than was previously considered there. Elsewhere, we take some time to chat about our expectations for the defense and how it's “put up or shut up” time for the oft highly-touted unit that has come up short of expectations despite its on-paper reputation. It wouldn't be a Hogs Haven podcast if we didn't chat a little bit about our potential Mason-Brennan (our namesake!) candidates. It's super early, but Josh Drayden, Percy Butler, and Jacub Panasiuk sure seem like rock-solid candidates for the annual award. We also take some time to recognize a returning candidate in Jaret Patterson, who once again sees himself on the bubble with lofty fan expectations. While we're not here for participation trophies, we're very excited to christen the new Reed Doughty Award For Guys Who Are Still Somehow Here (working title) to commemorate year five of the Troy Apke experience. On the other side of the break, we dove into some real good sports talk radio stuff and debate our picks for who we would pick to fill out the ten spots available to move from the 80 Greatest to the 90 Greatest. I'm not sure, but I think I may have gotten Gumbi to come around on Kirk Cousins (even if I don't fully believe it with my full chest.) We also share our top snubs from the assembled candidates. In all, we're super excited to be back for another season of Burgundy & Gold football here on… the Cult of Colt. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

JP Finlay, Mitch Tischler and Pete Hailey spent their Friday afternoon in Ashburn watching rookie minicamp then drove over to JP's porch so they could comfortably recap the session together. To begin, the three of them work from Jahan Dotson down to Christian Holmes, passing along observations about each of the Commanders' draft picks after seeing them in person for the first time. They also do a One Thing segment, which includes thoughts about Ron Rivera's pre-practice presser. After about 50 solid minutes of football talk, JP, Mitch and Pete then transition to an argument/review of a controversial moment that happened during practice and involved all three of them, a dry sandwich and plenty of yelling. If you like podcasts where Mitch takes food from JP's children and you learn something quite funny about Percy Butler, then this is the episode for you.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
