On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss a handful of Buffalo Bills topics, including an examination of their 2024 offseason one year later and the never ending saga of James Cook this offseason. It's been an eventful offseason for Brandon Beane and company since losing to Kansas City in the AFC title game this past January. Rather than focusing on that today the guys are going back a ful year to review how the 2024 offseason went. They reflect on and discuss some of the Bills biggest moves, including the re-signings of David Edwards, AJ Epenesa and Taylor Rapp, contract extensions for Dion Dawkins, Taron Johnson and Spencer Brown, signing Curtis Samuel and the draft selections of Keon Coleman, Cole Bishop and Ray Davis. As for Cook, how his contract and Cook's participation with the Bills plays out this season remains mysterious as the Bills begin mandatory minicamp this week but it's certainly a step in the right direction that he reported for minicamp. Matt and Patrick wonder who may blink first if push comes to shove this summer at training camp and potentially into the regular season. That plus some commentary on head coach Sean McDermott and plenty more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, it's another edition of The Podbag, filled with submissions from listeners that Patrick Moran is responding to, including predicting who the Bills 2025 leaders will be in receiving yards from one through 10.There's no Stefon Diggs, Eric Moulds or Andre Reed in the Bills pass catching room, so trying to forecast who'll lead the team in receiving yards let alone charting it from one to 10 is no easy task. That doesn't stop Patrick from taking a stab at it anyway. It doesn't take long for him to figure out that barring injury, Khalil Shakir feels like the only sure thing with Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, Curtis Samuel and Elijah Moore all being legitimate wild cards. Also, a listener has a hot take that Brandon Beane should've signed James Cook to an extension before Shakir, which leads to Patrick elaborating on why he disagrees but still concludes fans are writing off Cook because they think it's a formality that his time with Buffalo is nearing a conclusion.Kincaid going into what feels like a make or break year is also discussed, as is Mack Hollins not returning, Bills super fans and Joe From Queens. That and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several Buffalo Bills and other topics, including Joe reacting to a handful of what Patrick calls sneaky good Bills takes.Joe missed last week's show because he's a jerk who went on family vacation but he's back this week. After spending a little time catching up, Joe talking about his family trip and Patrick going absolutely over the top in a tirade against a specific Tops Markets location (6150 South Park Avenue in Hamburg), they dive into some Bills talk where Patrick lays down some Bills takes for Joe to react to. Among them is opportunity getting ready to knock for second year running back Ray Davis, why Brandon Beane may look to trade Curtis Samuel for peanuts and Tre White having a real chance to be the Week one starter at cornerback alongside Christian Benford. Also, Josh Allen got married to Hollywood star actress Hailee Steinfeld. The guys have plenty of reaction to that. Plus, Joe has a Mt. Flushmore of the worst celebrity couples, Patrick's got an extended "True or False' segment, reaction to some fan comments and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including going through a few potential darkhorse trade candidates for the Buffalo Bills. You can't expect Bills general manager Brandon Beane to trade a veteran(s) from his roster before the season starts but it wouldn't exactly be shocking if he made a move either. The guys come up with a few candidates Beane could move on from, including Joe making a case for it to be wide receiver Curtis Samuel while Patrick thinks the most likely candidate would be defensive end AJ Epenesa. Also, with the NFL schedule now fully set with dates and times, Joe goes through the Bills road slate and ranks the road trips he'd like to take to see the team play from least to most desirable. Cost, ease of travel, opponent, city itself and time of year are all factors.Former Bills safety Jordan Poyer recently said on a TV interview that returning to Buffalo and retiring as a Bill would be a "fantasy ending" to his career. Do the guys think it's a realistic possibility? They also respond to Poyer throwing a decent amount of shade at the 2024 Dolphins. The Knicks beating Boston in the NBA playoffs and New York City going crazy is also discussed. That plus a Mt. The Buffalo Bills have added to their wide receiver group with former Browns and Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore, shortly after General Manager Brandon Beane rebuked perceived criticism that the club has not done enough to address the position. Spectrum News 1's Andy Young and Kevin Carroll discuss what Moore brings to the offense, and how the wide receiver corps is shaping up heading into the season with Joshua Palmer, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel and others.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren (SB Nation) to examine how the present and the future of the Buffalo Bills is looking, positionally. With the NFL Draft barely a week away, the Bills will be adding prospects to the roster that general manager Brandon Beane is counting on helping them get over the AFC hump. Defense obviously feels like the bigger need, especially considering Josh Allen just won MVP and the vast majority of the offense is back from last year. Still, the draft isn't just about one season and the guys start to go through the team position-by-position to determine where priorities could be beyond just the upcoming 2025 season.More specifically the guys talk about wide receiver being a position of interest because Beane can get out of Curtis Samuel's contract after this year. Also, Dion Dawkins is one of the game's best left tackles but at 31 years old, do you start considering grooming a replacement for when he skills inevitably decline. Also, the Bills have four NFL caliber safeties but two are signed for just one year and another a guy Buffalo can easily financially move on from in 2026 if they desire.Matt also has thoughts on what he considers the most intriguing things about this draft, the New Orleans Saints quarterback situation and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblingsfor your (really good) daily Bills content.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. The Buffalo Bills are in an interesting position at wide receiver as the 2025 NFL Draft looms just over a week from now. Brandon Beane signed Joshua Palmer during free agency, and the team is also expecting a step up in play from second year player Keon Coleman. The Bills have returning vets Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel rounding out the top of the receiver room. Outside of the current top four (Shakir, Coleman, Palmer, Samuel), may fans believe the team still needs to address the position with a speedy downfield threat. The Bills have been meeting almost exclusively with speedier boundary prospects in the lead up to the draft. Join Judge and Tilt as they analyze the tiers of wide receiver prospects for the upcoming draft. Share your thoughts, favorites, and reactions in the comments section. Go Bills!

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly chat and the focus today is on 10 very big questions Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills are pondering as they get ready to attack free agency beginning on March 10. Last year's strategy due primarily to economics was very straightforward. The Bills shed a lot of salary by jettison several players who were leaders and part of their core, a list that included names like Jordan Poyer, Tre White, Mitch Morse and Stefon Diggs. It was a very low-key free agency spearheaded by the additions of Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel. Things turned out wonderfully for Buffalo despite the mostly "uneventful" offseason from Beane and company. The expectation around league circles is different this time around. The Bills are expected to put some serious resources into a few positions, very likely on the defensive line above all else. Prior to there's several questions in need of discussing which the guys do, among them being what to do with Von Miller, is Daquan Jones addition by subtraction at this point of his career, what's their plan for attack at cornerback and what's their level of faith in safety Cole Bishop going into year two? Also, Matt has thoughts on what the price should be that Beane's willing to pay to acquire a Myles Garrett or Max Crosby if either player is actually available. That plus a few other Bills questions, where Rams quarterback Matt Stafford may end up this season and tons more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens shortly after the Buffalo Bills systematically destroyed the Denver Broncos, 31-7 to win their AFC Wildcard game and set up what's expected to an epic clash with Baltimore next week. Joe joins from Florida, where he's staying before a family vacation to Mexico. They talk about a Bills team that overcame a huge play from the Broncos on the first series of the game to methodically pound Denver in submission, just completely dominating in nearly every facet of the game. Buffalo put up 471 yards of offense while possessing the ball for over 41 minutes while allowing Denver just 224 yards of offense, with 43 of that coming on a Bo Nix touchdown pass to Troy Franklin on the fifth play of the game. The guys talk about a Bills team that refused to get panicked under any circumstance and stuck to a running game that the Broncos couldn't stop. They also discuss Josh Allen having another MVP caliber performance and getting several pass catchers involved. Of course even a blowout there's a few plays that really shape a football game and the guys discuss a few of them, including the Ty Johnson miraculous catch on fourth down to take a 21-7 and Curtis Samuel's big 55 yard catch and run for a score to put the game away. They go over all the highlights and a few of the lowlights as well and quickly turn their attention to Baltimore. Get ready for a crazy week! Follow Joe on Blue Sky @BuffaloWins.bluesky.social. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for immediate live reactions shortly after the Buffalo Bills ended the Kansas City Chiefs bid for a perfect regular season, knocking off the two-time Super Bowl defending champions, 30-21 at Highmark Stadium. As always the game was well hyped and as always it lived it up to it. The game was in doubt until inside the final two minutes and when it was over Buffalo improved their record to 9-2 and put themselves firmly into number one seed mix by handing the Chiefs their first loss. The guys talk about a Buffalo team that week after week finds a way to put up 30 points despite so many guys being in and out of the lineup, this time not having Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman or Spencer Brown. It didn't matter much on this day in part because guys like Curtis Samuel and Dawson Knox stepped up. Of course, when it came to be superman that's exactly what Josh Allen became. They also talk about a defense that forced two turnovers and four Kansas City punts. Also, should the goal post now be moved when it comes to what to expect from the 2024 Buffalo Bills? Is this truly a team capable of winning the Super Bowl? They talk about this and much more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly conversation, this time turning heel a little bit on Buffalo Bills fans and telling them some things to be skeptical of regarding the team despite their glowing 6-2 record. The heel turn isn't on the level of Seth Rollins turning on the Shield, but the guys decide to take a break from all the positivity talk about the Bills (mostly well deserved) and play Devil's advocate today, focusing today's episode on some things that already have or could ail the Bills as they progress through what's become a most promising season. Among the things the guys discuss is the Bills playing a relatively weak schedule so far, especially compared to what it was expected to look like back in September. They also talk about how their penchant for racking up penalties is a problem, slow starts in at least half their games so far this season, Curtis Samuel looking like a complete bust right now and not having a lot of good luck on the injury front. Again, both guys are highly optimistic with the Bills at this point of the season but sometimes you have to take a look at the dangers that may lie ahead. They also talk some AFC as well, including the absolutely stunning revelation that the AFC east race is close to being over before we even reach Halloween and Kansas City just two home wins away from coming to Orchard Park in a few weeks with a 10-0 record. On this episode of "The Bruce Exclusive", Bruce talks about the Buffalo Bills' new wide receiver acquisition Amari Cooper and his impact on the offense, does some fact finding into Josh Allen's diagnosis of the first half sluggishness, and gets some help defining the concept of a "WR1". Oh, and the pragmatism of joy. That too. Topics include Josh Allen, Sean McDermott, Joe Brady, Amari Cooper, Dalton Kincaid, Curtis Samuel, Buffalo Bills offense, Buffalo Bills defense, Buffalo Bills rookies, Buffalo Bills injuries, and more! On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation and together they have their biggest takeaways on the heels of the Buffalo Bills 23-20 victory on Monday Night football over the New York Jets, an ugly win that looked very sexy in the standings on Tuesday morning. This subject matter was pushed back a day after the major Amari Cooper trade on Tuesday afternoon. Monday was a game marred by penalties, missed kicks and unforced errors by both teams but in the end, the Bills prevailed and as a result now have a commanding 2.5 game lead over the Jets just six weeks into the season, something very expected. Patrick spends time going over some of the biggest reasons the Bills moved firmly into the driver's seat in the AFC east, including Josh Allen reverting back to the type of play that had him looking like a strong MVP candidate through the first three weeks of season. Also, Ray Davis got the start for an injured James Cook and boy did he ever take the ball and run with it, literally. Also discussed is the huge (huge) returns of Taron Johnson and Taylor Rapp playing a big role in Buffalo's win, AJ Epenesa being a factor as well as Curtis Samuel having his first meaningful week as a Bill. This all helped overcome many of Buffalo's deficiencies, including the inexcusable decision by Sean McDermott just before halftime, a defense that got away with yet again giving up too many explosive plays, a kicker who has the yips at this point and other stupid mistakes the Bills made. They also talks about the Jets trading for Davante Adams and of course, Cooper joining the Bills after a Brandon Beane trade and an opportunity for the Bills to really run away with their division over the next month and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of "The Bruce Exclusive", Bruce dives into the Buffalo Bills' acquisition of wide receiver Amari Cooper and talks about the lessons or lack of lessons that can be learned from the Bills 23-20 victory over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino for a full preview of Monday Night's game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets in addition to Bills keys to the game, a handful of bold predictions and final score guess. This has the feelings of a "get right" game for both the Bills and Jets with plenty on the line. A victory for Buffalo not only gets things back on track but puts the rest of the AFC east in the rear view mirror early, earning road wins over both Miami and New York. However a third straight loss may force the panic button to get hit and realize this team isn't nearly as good as they appeared to be three weeks into the season. The guys spend time talking about how they expect the Bills offense to look against a very tough Jets defense, not to mention injuries to key players Khalil Shakir and James Cook. Someone has to step up on the Bills offense and it's more than time for Dalton Kincaid and Curtis Samuel to carry the load. As for the Jets, they guys discuss a top tier defense featuring arguably the best cornerback tandem in the league and a very (very) good front seven as well. However, there's ways for Buffalo to have success on offense and the guys go over them as well as an expectation that Buffalo's defense will be just as problematic for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense. They also offer bold predictions, including a bonus prediction from Mrs. Moran and a final score guess. That and much more--a big game for the Bills! Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. When it comes to draft strategy, it seems like all people talk about is "upside" and "ceiling," and of course we understand. Who doesn't love week-winning fantasy football options? But sometimes when considering roster construction, it's important to find safe players, too. That'll be our goal for today's podcast: the philosophy of when taking "high-floor" players makes sense. Plus we'll give you options in each of the early rounds for safe players you can feel great about drafting. The fantasy football market is a fickle beast. It will hype the living heck out of a young player, usually inflating his price to the point where we don't want to draft him...but if that young player doesn't live up to his billing, the market will drop him like a hot potato. That's where this episode comes in: today we'll list players who qualify as Post-Hype Sleepers! These are players fantasy drafters feel burned by, and so may in fact come at good value in 2024 fantasy football drafts. Also: Josh Jacobs film! He's the Jacked Gerbil! Guest: Jamey Eisenberg of CBS Fantasy.
