I was very interested to hear the profound near-death experience (NDE) of Dr. Michael Hessian, a renowned cardiac physician. Dr. Hessian shares his journey from battling a severe pneumonia that led to a near-death experience, to his astonishing recovery and the incredible transformation in his personal and professional life. I was fascinated to hear Dr. Hession talk about what he could perceive when we was in a non-communicative, comatose state. Although he could not speak, he was well aware of what was happening around him. He talks about the different approaches people had to interacting with him and how that impacted his recovery. This is a must-listen for anyone who may find themselves in the position of caring for someone who is non responsive. Discover how his NDE reshaped his relationships, deepened his empathy, and led him to advocate passionately for patients who are unable to communicate. Don't miss insights on the significance of compassionate care in the ICU, the role of prayer, and the practice of mindfulness meditation. Bio: Michael Hession is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology as well as a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and American College of Cardiology. He Currently works as a Medical Director at Mass General Brigham and has been voted as a Top Doctor by Boston Magazine a whopping 8 times. Can a doctor's strongest medicine be kindness to themselves? In this candid conversation, Dr. Kathy Stepien, physician coach and advocate for medical wellness, challenges the notion that self-criticism leads to better performance. Speaking with host Dr. Lia Gaggino, she unpacks how physician coaching has evolved from executive suites to mainstream medicine, backed by clinical trials from institutions like Mayo Clinic and Stanford. Dr. Stepien shares powerful stories about identity transitions in medicine, from early-career challenges to retirement questions, while offering practical ways to find the right support. Her remarkable work in bringing hidden struggles to light proves that no physician needs to walk their professional journey alone. In the twentieth century, state supreme courts and legislatures limited the practice of law to licensed law school graduates and prevented nonlawyers from investing in law firms. This regulatory structure has not yielded a sufficient supply of affordable legal services to keep pace with demand: despite government and charitable funding and pro bono work, over 90% of the basic civil legal needs of low-income Americans now go unmet. As lawyers have taken an interest in regulatory reform in this century, some have begun to scrutinize our own profession and explore whether innovative structural changes can help close this justice gap. The experts on this panel will equip attendees to consider reform in their states by examining the pros and cons of three such changes: (1) licensing legal paraprofessionals to perform limited legal services; (2) allowing nonlawyers to invest in legal service providers; and (3) reforming legal education and licensure to increase the supply of lawyers, especially in underserved geographic and practice areas.Featuring:Hon. In my recovery I practiced mindfulness. Unfortunately it was not popular at the time I was seeing patients. I truly believe it would have been immeasurably helpful to them, some of them. The best description I've heard of it is that your thoughts are like a waterfall and the goal is to find a space behind the waterfall: We are not our thoughts. Of course this does remind me of Alicia's assertion that Boda existed in ‘the shadow behind the mirror'. A kind of dark mindfulness. A malevolent consciousness that exists behind our perceptions of reality. There is more to this world then what is reflected back to us and I must now return to Ravenscourt. “Pornography is pretty much Taco Bell. Minutely satisfying for minutes at most, easy to become addicted to and you tell only your closest friends that you genuinely enjoy it. Regardless of personal feelings toward it, the pornography industry brings in $97 billion globally, and gets 450 million visitors per month. But despite being a federally recognized and taxable industry, many performers who either currently work in it or have left it entirely face a great deal of social stigma when interacting in “polite” society. Pornography is more or less mainstream since 70 percent of men and 30 percent of women watch it at least once a month, according to the New York Daily News. Yet the actors involved in the industry are often ostracized because of their past occupations, either through losing teaching jobs, being denied banking services or having no protections under current discrimination laws.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

You know how they say you only hate something in others you also hate about yourself? Well, The TV Doctor is back with another "Physician, Heal Thyself" episode to try to prove that old saying wrong. We only hate when we're hate-watching, and it's all love, baby! Tune in if you want to know what show M. Foss loves to hate and hates to love more than all the others.
The TV Doctor's back again with another entry in the "Physician, Heal Thyself" series. This time, the TV Doc answers the question, "In which television show would you like to live?" (Hint: the answer is NOT Star Trek; pop in around the 05:05 mark if you want to know why not!) The real answer may surprise you, but only if you have never heard of Doug Forcett or Jeremy Bearimy.CW // death and dyingIf you're interested in Kenan Thompson's Emmy opening number mentioned in the episode, you can check it out right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH0HFxo1dCU
The TV Doctor returns for a fourth season with a new series: Physician, Heal Thyself. On this episode, the TV Doc answers the question, "What was your favorite show when you were a kid?" We're wrapping up this series today in asking the question..."what happens when a banker becomes the customer?" It's been eye-opening, to say the least. Basic question...do your accounts match what's listed on the website? Be sure to check out ICBA Securities at https://www.icba.org/icba-securities
We finally closed!! It's been a journey but thankfully it's down to unpacking boxes. Today, we're looking at the importance of a good staff and loan closings. I've never understood why some bankers never go to any of their loan closings. That's odd to me...it's a perfect opportunity to build your relationships and set yourself apart from the pack. Be sure to check out our sponsor, ICBA Securities, at https://www.icba.org/icba-securities
Well, like any real estate transaction...there's been some curveballs. And honestly, they didn't have to be. In today's look at what happens when a banker becomes the customer, we see some of the issues that continue to plague our industry. We have a lot of work to do...and, I'm sorry to admit, that not all lenders are superheroes. We have to outshine them...and we can! Be sure to check out our sponsors, ICBA Securities at https://www.icba.org/icba-securities
Julie continues reading stories from the back of the Big Book. Today is, "Physician, Heal Thyself!" Tune in for a very touching personal story from an accomplished doctor who was unable to heal himself from his alcoholism...until he found Alcoholics Anonymous and started working the program.
We're continuing our series on looking at the question "What happens when a banker becomes the customer?" Today, we're looking at the process of selecting a new bank. As discussed in the episode, I am NOT saying that my thought process is the ONLY process...or even the right one. It's just mine and my family's. But, we're a dual income family, 2 kids, a dog, and a mortgage moving into a new community where our current bank does not have a presence. That's not all that unusual. So, let's walk through that through the eyes of a customer. Be sure to check out our sponsor, ICBA Securities at https://www.icba.org/icba-securities
Going to do be doing something a little different the next few weeks...my family and I are in the middle of buying/selling/moving. I know...we're crazy. But this whole process has made me look at being a banking customer differently. What happens when a banker is the customer? So, I thought we'd spend some time documenting this process but from that angle...when we are the customer, what can we learn about the banking business? Many thanks to our sponsor, ICBA Securities, for helping us put this podcast on! Check them out at https://www.icba.org/icba-securities

A mix we didn't plan making but we went with it. This is a bit of an un-nerving one in places, we listened to it back, and even we were scared, looking over our shoulders !Cura te ipsumTaken from a latin proverb I learned about on an obscure radio station on short wave. Physician, heal thyself. What ever floats your boat huh ?Please listen responsibly, (especially this one)
Do we jump into FIX mode with friends and family? Time to take a step back and work on our own issues before we try to help others.
