Welcome to episode #1040 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). Long before artificial intelligence became the dominant business conversation, Sangeet Paul Choudary was helping leaders understand another profound shift in economic power: the rise of platforms. As the co-author of Platform Revolution, founder of Platform Thinking Labs, advisor to global corporations and governments, and a respected thinkers on digital business models, Sangeet has spent years studying how technology changes the sources of competitive advantage and reshapes entire industries. His latest book, Reshuffle - Who Wins When AI Restacks The Knowledge Economy, extends that work into the age of artificial intelligence, exploring what happens when the expertise, judgment and know-how that once lived inside individuals and organizations increasingly migrates into software systems. In this conversation, Sangeet explains why AI represents far more than a productivity upgrade. He argues that every major technological shift changes what is scarce, and when scarcity changes, value moves with it. Drawing on examples ranging from Kodak and Netflix to cloud computing, software platforms and global supply chains, he explores why some organizations adapt while others become trapped by the assumptions that made them successful in the first place. The discussion also examines the changing nature of economic power, the growing importance of digital sovereignty, the future of knowledge work, and the risks of assuming that today's business models will survive tomorrow's technological realities. Throughout the conversation, Sangeet offers a framework for understanding not just what AI can do, but how leaders can rethink their organizations, industries and careers when the foundations of value creation are being rewritten in real time. Vikings Hire New GM Nolan Teasley; Early OTA QB Buzz Around Murray vs. McCarthy — Dave and Darren discuss the Vikings ending their GM search by hiring 42-year-old Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley, an outsider candidate with experience in player acquisition, football operations, and integrating analytics, and they consider challenges such as improving Minnesota's draft results while sustaining strong free-agency performance and navigating existing power centers like Rob Brzezinski, Kevin O'Connell, and Brian Flores. They then cover OTAs and the quarterback situation featuring Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy, focusing on media interviews in which McCarthy appeared unusually curt and annoyed while Murray said the “right things,” alongside reports that Murray looked slightly sharper in limited viewing, especially in ball placement. In “This Week in Vikings Land,” they note expiring front-office contracts Teasley must address, the unresolved Harrison Smith decision with June 1 cap implications, and a feature on sixth-round RB Demond Claiborne's background and mentorship. 00:00 Show Intro and Agenda 01:11 Chat Roll Call and Banter 03:02 Theme One New GM Hired 05:20 Teasley Background and Resume 08:05 Draft and Free Agency Priorities 10:00 Power Dynamics and Collaboration 11:34 Dave Reacts Seahawks Connections 22:40 Theme Two Cranky QB OTAs 24:37 McCarthy Media Mood 27:21 QB Competition Outlook 32:23 Dave Take Motivation and Injuries 33:41 Coaching Up McCarthy 36:05 OTA Throws Breakdown 38:47 New GM Staff Decisions 42:06 Front Office Shakeups 44:59 Harrison Smith Watch 50:52 Claiborne Draft Story 54:52 Udinski Departure Fallout 56:19 OTAs and Minicamp Wrap 58:09 Season Hype Signoff Fan With Us! We start with a story that leaves one of us feeling powerless in our own home, then use it to question how consent and leverage can show up in everyday co-parenting. We keep pulling the thread into gender power dynamics, double standards, and what real accountability looks like when nobody wants to admit harm. • a co-parenting ultimatum that turns safety into leverage • feeling violated without physical force and why it still counts • why society downplays harm when boys and men are the target • physical strength versus authority, influence, and professional hierarchy • therapist client ethics and how trust can be weaponised • workplace flirtation, social pressure, and fear of consequences • club and party examples that reveal consent blind spots • why “women do it too” can become a deflection tactic • setting standards as men and staying consistent under pressure • building self trust through small wins, discipline, and time horizons June 27th, you know, cookout, field day. Victor and Darren discuss Euphoria season 4 episode 4 (“Kitty Likes to Dance”), focusing on themes of performance, commodification, and control across storylines, while disagreeing on what works: they critique Jules' sabotaged art assignment for a network-style show, Lexi's thin integration, Nate's aimlessness, and debate whether Kitty's ordeal reads as coercion or grimly expected “part of the job.” They praise the Cassie/Maddie influencer-party sequence and break down Ru's DEA-informant plot, including the poker scene, Magic's suspicions, the wiretap, and Lori's crew robbing Alamo's club in retaliation for the parrot's death, plus worries about missing dancers. They also plug the new Patreon (The Boys catch-up, Nolan/Batman Begins talk), announce weekly coverage of Widows Bay, and briefly praise Margot Has Money Troubles episode's Vegas wedding while finding Half Man episode 2 disturbing and potentially one-note; they mention Freaky Tales featuring Angus Cloud and note missing Labyrinth-style music in Euphoria. Today we're talking about why so many people feel like none of us are fine anymore. The Epstein files reopened deep questions about power, corruption, protection, and why the people at the top never seem to face real accountability. We're breaking down the public reaction, the distrust, the anger, and what it means when people feel like justice only applies to ordinary citizens.--https://www.bible.com/
This episode of The Rewrite we're talking about something that quietly runs the show in so many relationships—the division of power inside a marriage, and how it impacts every single step when a divorce begins. From finances to household roles to decision-making, these dynamics don't just disappear when a marriage ends—they shape the entire process of separation, negotiation, and outcome.Joining the conversation is Attorney Melissa Needle of Needle | Cuda Divorce and Family Law, bringing over 30 years of experience in high-net-worth divorce.Understanding this is the first step in knowing what to expect, protecting yourself, and moving forward with clarity instead of confusion. This is the part of divorce most people don't see coming—but it changes everything.Follow Melissa Needle | Cuda Divorce and Family Law https://www.needlecuda.com

Power is everywhere in schools – in classrooms, staffrooms, policies, and conversations. Yet it is rarely named, examined, or understood. In this episode, James Mannion and David Cameron are joined by Dee Nic Sitric to explore how power operates – often invisibly – and what becomes possible when schools begin to surface it. Drawing on systemic thinking, neurodivergent perspectives, and real-world examples, this conversation examines how power shapes behaviour, relationships, decision-making, and ultimately outcomes for children and young people. Key ideas explored -Why power dynamics are largely invisible but highly influential in schools -The distinction between control and genuine systemic thinking -How slice teams redistribute power and improve decision-making -The role of psychological safety in enabling challenge and curiosity -Why ‘voice' without influence is not real participation How power shows up in: behaviour systems classroom talk and oracy staff relationships policy and consultation processes The link between mattering (feeling valued + adding value) and power Why reflection – not compliance – is the engine of improvement Standout moments ‘Power isn't static – it moves, shifts, and often sits where we least expect it.' ‘Who is allowed to ask questions? That's where the power lies.' ‘We cannot be curious and judgemental at the same time.' A vivid example of how a single interaction in an assembly can redistribute (or remove) power in seconds Practical implications Create structures where multiple perspectives genuinely shape decisions Build psychological safety so staff and students can question and contribute Move from ‘consultation' to co-production Use reflection routines to examine: ‘Why did we act that way?' ‘Whose voice was missing?' Reframe behaviour and classroom talk as questions of power, not just technique About Dee Nic Sitric Dee is the founding director of Autism Champions, a neurodivergent-led organisation supporting schools and systems to better understand and respond to neurodivergent experiences. Her work focuses on systemic thinking, relational practice, and the lived realities of children, families, and staff navigating education systems. The way you relate to power is the way you relate to everything around and within you–your work, your people, your sense of what's possible. And most of us have never actually examined that relationship. And in this season we are in, when everything is changing so quickly, any unexamined beliefs we hold will quietly run the show. They will shape the risks we take, the rooms we walk into, and the moments we either step up or shrink back. If we don't have something to ground us internally to our values, our body, our nervous system, and our beliefs, we run the risk of looking to external validation and trying to control everyone and everything around us. We do damage control and play nice at the expense of real connection and progress.Which is why I am thrilled to welcome back Dr. Amanda Aguilera to talk more about the Right Use of Power framework for personal power and her new book, Shaping Power for Good: Wayfinding to Right Relationship. She reminds us that staying rooted and using our personal power for good isn't a box to be checked, but a continuous practice and commitment to ourselves and our relationships. Dr. Amanda Aguilera currently serves as the Executive Director of the Right Use of Power Institute and co-leader of Sacred Wayfinding. She has dedicated most of her career to helping people and organizations understand systems, conflict, and social power dynamics to create right relationships and a sense of belonging. She has a knack for making difficult conversations easier, complex ideas more accessible, and resistance more workable. Integrating power, contemplative practices, neurobiology, and restorative practices, she works by finding a balance of head and heart and facilitating the co-creation of strategic maps that lead us forward in a more equitable way.Listen to the full episode to hear:Defining the six core types of power through the lens of relationships to others, ourselves, and the collectiveHow four essential aspects of being in right relationship show up in us and othersWhy checking in on power and relationships starts with connecting to our bodies How committing to being in right relationship helps us overcome how we've been socialized to access power and belongingWhy right relationship fundamentally starts with ourselves, our boundaries, and our valuesHow each of us can use our power for good, conscientiously and in alignment with our valuesLearn more about Dr. Amanda Aguilera:Right Use of Power InstituteInstagram: @rightuseofpowerinstituteShaping Power for Good: Wayfinding to Right RelationshipLearn more about Rebecca:rebeccaching.comWork With RebeccaThe Unburdened Leader on SubstackSign up for the weekly Unburdened Leader EmailResources:ParenthoodEP 88: Right-Use-of-Power: Navigating Leadership Dynamics with Dr. Cedar BarstowEP 125: Power, Regulation, and Leadership: Connecting to Your Personal Power with Dr. Amanda AguileraBelonging: The Science of Creating Connection and Bridging Divides, Geoffrey L. While the podcast team is taking a Radical Sabbatical, Kim is interviewing authors of the books that have had a big impact on her in the past two years. Office culture is a fascinating topic. It can be the special sauce that helps bring together team members to achieve excellence. But what happens when the company culture becomes a toxic mess? What happens when a very charismatic CEO becomes obsessed with both cataloging people's weaknesses and then broadcasting them to the entire company? What happens when that same CEO mandates “internal reporting” on fellow co-workers, techniques that appear to be drawn directly from the playbook of the Stasi (the former East German secret police force, famous for deep surveillance to control and punish their citizens)? What happens when the CEO steadfastly refuses to hear criticism about himself? Why would people join and then remain at such an organization? Kim welcomes New York Times' business reporter and author, Rob Copland, to talk about his fascinating, deeply researched, and best-selling book, The Fund: Ray Dalio, Bridgewater Associates and The Unraveling of a Wall Street Legend. Rob's book dives deep on Ray Dalio, the iconic founder and leader of Bridgewater Associates and the culture he created there. Under Dalio, there is no disputing that Bridgewater Associates became one of the largest and most successful hedge funds in history. At the same time, Dalio appeared to use promises of vast riches to control and intimidate his employees. Rob shares some incredible stories to illustrate these points. When someone dared to push back on any of Dalio's techniques or vision, he famously would shut them down with, “If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?!” Rob talks about what he learned in the years of research he did for this book. This conversation presents a cautionary tale of what can happen when a charismatic leader, flush with vast wealth decides his mission is also to dictate how people should live. Background on Rob Copeland: Rob Copeland is a New York Times finance reporter covering Wall Street, banks, and corporate power. In Part 2 of my conversation with Stacy M., we continue pulling back the curtain on Freemasonry and examining the questions most people are told not to ask.If the organization is simply a harmless fraternity, why so much secrecy? Why the elaborate rituals, layered symbolism, and strict oaths? And why have so many influential leaders throughout history been tied to it?In this episode, we dig deeper into the structure of Freemasonry, the meaning behind its rituals and symbols, and the concerns many Christians and researchers have raised about its spiritual and cultural influence. We also discuss why criticism of the organization is often quickly dismissed—and why that reaction alone should make people more curious, not less. This conversation isn't about sensationalism. It's about discernment. When powerful institutions operate largely out of public view yet intersect with leadership, culture, and faith, they deserve thoughtful examination. The goal isn't to tell people what to think, but to encourage them to start asking questions for themselves.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app
Today on Uncommon Sense, I'm joined by Stacy M. for a conversation that too many people are afraid (or unwilling) to have. We're discussing Freemasonry: what it is, what it claims to be, and the darker, more sinister elements that often get brushed aside or ignored entirely. From secrecy and symbolism to influence and power, we're asking the questions that rarely get real answers. Why has this secret society maintained such a strong presence for so long? Why does it seem to intersect so frequently with positions of power—including within our own government? And most importantly… why aren't more people talking about it?This episode isn't about blind accusations, it's about awareness. If something holds influence, operates behind closed doors, and shapes culture or leadership in any capacity, it deserves scrutiny. It's time to start paying attention and asking better questions.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app

In this segment, we dive deep into the evolving—and potentially murky—leadership structure of the New York Giants following Joe Schoen's defensive media session in Indianapolis. As Dawn Aponte steps into a senior role and John Harbaugh's influence looms large, questions are surfacing about whether the GM has been "marginalized" or if this is truly the collaborative dream team the organization claims it to be. We break down the tension surrounding Schoen's contract status, the looming "conundrum" of re-signing slot receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, and why a lack of a third-round pick makes the Giants "open for business" at the number five spot. Plus, we pivot to a heated debate on whether an Olympic Gold Medal carries a "Mickey Mouse" asterisk and why rooting for rival stars in the red, white, and blue feels so complicated for die-hard fans.

Ask Me How I Know: Multifamily Investor Stories of Struggle to Success
Power dynamics can still register in the nervous system, but when pressure and relational strain ease, it's often a sign of identity-level alignment. This episode explores why hierarchy feels different when your body no longer braces for safety.Power dynamics don't disappear just because you're more aligned.Hierarchy still exists. Authority still registers. Systems still function the way they always have. What often changes first is how your body meets those dynamics. In this Saturday episode on Horizontal Alignment, we explore how Identity-Level Recalibration begins to show up in real relationships, conversations, and leadership moments, not through effort or performance, but through presence. This episode is especially resonant if you've noticed that:Conversations with authority feel quieter than they used toYour body still registers hierarchy, but doesn't spiral afterwardYou're no longer replaying interactions or managing yourself internallyPower dynamics feel noticeable, but less personalYou're staying connected without shrinking or posturingRather than explaining power dynamics, this episode stays with the lived experience of meeting them from a different internal place. When alignment deepens, the nervous system still reads the room, but it no longer assumes danger. Responses become proportional. Context returns. Self-judgment softens without effort. This is not detachment. It's regulation. And it's one of the quiet byproducts of this work. This episode reflects the heart of Identity-Level Recalibration: not changing behavior, but changing the internal orientation that behavior flows from.Today's Micro Recalibration:When you notice a power dynamic today, ask quietly:“What does my body do, and how quickly does it settle?”No fixing. No correcting.Just notice how fast you return to yourself. That return is alignment in motion.Explore Identity-Level Recalibration → Schedule a conversation with Julie to see if The Recalibration is a fit for you → Learn about The Recalibration Cohort→ Join the next Friday Recalibration Live experience → Take your listening deeper! How often have you heard the rhetoric that if you want success badly enough, if you work hard enough, you'll find success? As women, we grow up with a promise—from little girls who can “be whatever we want to be” to full-grown “girl bosses,” the world is our equal-opportunity oyster. But the data doesn't prove this out. It's that data Stefanie O'Connell breaks down and picks apart in her new book, The Ambition Penalty, and in our honest and research-backed conversation. As her book's tagline says, “corporate culture tells women to step up―and then pushes them down.” Whether this feels all too real to you or you're skeptical, Stefanie's exploration of the metrics and the myths will get you thinking about how you challenge inequality in every environment where it still thrives.Stop blaming yourself and start challenging the status quo:Why prioritizing self-optimization can backfire; The systems we should be holding accountable for the ongoing inequality; The problem with the male victimhood narrative; What happens when we model healthy power and gender dynamics to our children?Related Links:Listen to Episode 408, Women and the Ambition Penalty - https://www.bossedup.org/podcast/episode408Connect with Stefanie on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/stefanieoconnell/Pre-order The Ambition Penalty - https://bookshop.org/p/books/the-ambition-penalty-how-corporate-culture-tells-women-to-step-up-and-then-pushes-them-down-stefanie-o-connell/bf6de978036a09ffSubscribe to Too Ambitious on Substack - https://tooambitious.substack.com/Follow Stefanie on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/stefanieoconnell/TAKE ACTION with Bossed Up - https://www.bossedup.org/takeactionBossed Up Courage Community - https://www.facebook.com/groups/927776673968737/Bossed Up LinkedIn Group - https://www.linkedin.com/groups/7071888/ Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. What if silence in your team meetings isn't just about shyness or lack of ideas, but something everyone's been taught—often unconsciously—to protect themselves or others? In this episode, I sit down with Elaine Lin Hering, a top facilitator, global educator, and author of “Unlearning Silence,” to dig into the roots of silence and how leaders can transform it into true engagement. As the conversation kicks off, we tackle a fundamental leadership dilemma: despite constant encouragement to “speak up,” people often hold back. Why? Elaine reveals it's not just about courage or confidence. Silence is a learned survival strategy, which is often shaped by culture, hierarchy, and even unconscious organizational habits. Her own story, growing up as the youngest daughter of Taiwanese immigrants, shows how silence sneaks in early and sticks.Throughout the episode, we explore questions relating to real-world challenges such as how can you create a safe space for candor when your “resting face” or demeanour sets the wrong tone? Or, why do team members only give feedback after a decision is finalized. Elaine offers evidence-informed and practical answers to these situations. The takeaway is clear: Strong leadership means recognizing that silence is not always golden—and that by unlearning it, we unlock deeper connection, better decisions, and a future not bound by the past. Guest: Professor Evan Ellis. Ellis describes the unstable power dynamics in Venezuela, where the Rodriguez faction cooperates with the U.S. on oil to prevent economic collapse. How “spaciousness” helps teams move beyond busywork — and build the conditions for honest conversation.“We're just so busy right now” is one of the most common reasons cultures don't change — and it's exactly what Megan Reitz set out to understand. In her research, she describes two modes of attention at work: doing mode, where focus narrows to tasks, control, and quick progress, and spacious mode, where attention expands, insight emerges, and real connection becomes possible.Reitz is a leadership researcher whose work explores how people speak up, listen well, and create environments where others can be heard — because, as she puts it, “how you show up affects the voices of the people around you.” When teams are anxious or rushed, attention tightens and listening gets shallow; when there's more safety and space, people can pause, widen their perspective, and make better choices together. In this Quick Thinks episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Reitz and host Matt Abrahams discuss why organizations get stuck in doing mode and what it takes to build spacious agility. They share practical ways to name spaciousness, strengthen psychological safety, introduce healthy dissonance (even through assigned roles like devil's advocate), and respond in ways that keep people speaking up — not shutting down.Episode Reference Links:Megan ReitzMegan's Book: Speak Out, Listen UpEp.132 Lean Into Failure: How to Make Mistakes That WorkEp.148 Conviction and Compassion: How to Have Hard Conversations Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (02:10) - Doing Mode vs. Spacious Mode (02:13) - Building Agility Between Modes (12:56) - Creating Psychological Safety (19:14) - Conclusion ********Thank you to our sponsors. Why it's critical to say what needs to be said — and listen when others do the same.Speak out, listen up — these are Megan Reitz's core pillars of workplace communication. According to her, healthy organizations are only possible when everyone can say what they think, and they know they'll be heard.Reitz is an academic and author whose work focuses on creating workplaces where all voices are heard and valued. Her latest book, Speak Out, Listen Up, explores the power dynamics that shape our communication at work and beyond. “Conversational habits define organizational success and our capacity to flourish,” she says. “Ethical conduct depends on what we're able to say and what we aren't, and whether we're heard or not. Innovation depends on our capacity to speak up, challenge, and disrupt, and whether that is heard or not. And of course, our engagement and our ability to perform depends on a feeling that our opinion is valued and that we're respected.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Reitz and host Matt Abrahams discuss how to create workplaces where every voice is heard. From her T.R.U.T.H. framework (trust, risk, understanding, titles, and how-to) to the pitfalls of communicational power dynamics, Reitz's insights reveal why healthy organizations are only possible when we all speak out and listen up.Episode Reference Links:Megan ReitzMegan's Book: Speak Out, Listen UpEp.132 Lean Into Failure: How to Make Mistakes That Work Ep.148 Conviction and Compassion: How to Have Hard Conversations Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (02:21) - The TRUTH Framework (05:32) - Status, Titles, and Voice (09:21) - Power Traps For Leaders (14:06) - Mindful Leadership = Habit Change (18:35) - The Final Three Questions (25:46) - Conclusion ********Thank you to our sponsors.
