July 13th, 1998: With the WWF officially on The Highway To Hell, we had to bring in Lee Carlos Cunningham from The Raw Is Nitro Podcast to help break down one of his all-time favorite periods in wrestling! The Undertaker is now the #1 contender for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's WWF Title, but seemingly everyone wants to know one thing: are The Undertaker and Kane in cahoots with each other? As for Kane, he teams with Mankind to take on The New Age Outlaws in a match for the WWF Tag Team Titles. After being off television for the past three-and-a-half months, Shawn Michaels surprisingly returns and proceeds to use some naughty language on commentary. Nation of Domination co-leaders The Rock & Owen Hart team up to take on DX members Triple-H & X-Pac. The Brawl For All somehow continues with two more match-ups: Dan "The Beast" Severn vs. The Godfather and Bart Gunn vs. Bob Holly. In six-man tag team action, Taka Michinoku aligns with Too Much to battle Kaientai, but Val Venis makes his presence felt by providing a special surprise for Yamaguchi-San. Marc Mero goes one-on-one against Steve Blackman, although the Sable / Jacqueline rivalry overshadows them both. Plus, Jason Sensation joins the announce team to share some more wrestling impersonations with the world, but that may prove to be a mistake on his part. Enjoying the Podcast? July 6th, 1998: The Undertaker, Kane, and Mankind all feel that they should be the #1 contender for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's WWF Championship, so Vince McMahon puts them into a triple threat match to determine who will get the title shot. In one of the more famous moments in Attitude Era history, D-Generation-X dresses up as The Nation of Domination because blackface is apparently still acceptable in 1998. The Brawl For All continues with two more match-ups: Hawk vs. Droz and Savio Vega vs. Brakus (who you probably never knew existed). Ken Shamrock squares off with Jeff Jarrett, but a former King of the Ring surprisingly returns and seeks to injure "The World's Most Dangerous Man." The Headbangers face The Disciples of Apocalypse, who are now led by their new manager Paul Ellering. Val Venis takes on Dustin Runnels, but Kaientai and Yamaguchi-San are looking to make Val pay for flirting with Mrs. Yamaguchi-San last week. Hardcore legend Terry Funk wrestles his last ever match on "Monday Night Raw" against the chest-protector-wearing D'Lo Brown. Sable and Jacqueline get into a "Jerry Springer"-esque war of words, and Jackie decides that the only way for them to settle their feud is with a bikini contest at "Fully Loaded." Vader goes one-on-one with Bradshaw in a match-up that would have been 1,000 times more entertaining if it had taken place in The Brawl For All. Meanwhile over on the TNT Network, WCW pulls off perhaps the biggest "Nitro" in history as Hulk Hogan defends his WCW World Heavyweight Championship against the undefeated Goldberg in front of 41,000 fans at The Georgia Dome! Vince McMahon tells us that the WWF Title match between "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Kane will be a First Blood Match, and Kane then speaks for the first time in 20 years to announce what he will do to himself if he loses. Later, Kane takes on "Road Dogg" Jesse James while his tag team partner Mankind squares off with Billy Gunn. After seven straight weeks of bizarre vignettes, Edge finally debuts on "Raw" against Los Boricuas member Jose Estrada............ but the match does not quite go as planned. The King of the Ring tournament continues with four quarterfinal matches: Ken Shamrock vs. Mark Henry, Jeff Jarrett vs. Marc Mero, Owen Hart vs. Dan "The Beast" Severn, and (awesomely) The Rock vs. Triple-H! An injured Paul Bearer is interviewed live via satellite from his house, but his own home may not even be a safe enough sanctuary to protect him from the wrath of The Undertaker. X-Pac goes one-on-one with Dustin Runnels in a match where the heel and face roles appear to be reversed. Jerry "The King" Lawler may finally be willing to grant Al Snow a meeting with Vince McMahon, but Al and Head will first need to defeat a tag team of Lawler's choosing at "King of the Ring." Plus, Sable has apparently been given some sort of executive position within the WWF and Mick Foley reminds us all of the fact that he used to be amazing at cutting promos. Meanwhile over on "Nitro," WCW is bringing in NBA and NFL stars to help them try and compete with "Raw." Enjoying the Podcast? E-mail us at rawattitudepodcast@gmail.com or Tweet us @RawAttitudePod! June 15th, 1998: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin accuses Vince McMahon of masterminding the attack on him last week, but The Boss instead points the finger at an unlikely culprit. Paul Bearer then challenges Austin and The Undertaker to face Kane and Mankind tonight.......... inside Hell in a Cell! We get the first ever Tag Team Royal Rumble, with the winning team becoming the #1 contenders for The New Age Outlaws' WWF Tag Team Titles. In a King of the Ring qualifying match, The Rock goes one-on-one with the criminally misused Vader. In the second KOTR qualifier, we get a very interesting match-up as DX members Triple-H and X-Pac are forced to go head-to-head! A newly religious Dustin Runnels faces Marc Mero, who gets quite a big surprise when Mr. McMahon reinstates the previously fired Sable. Owen Hart & Mark Henry team up to do battle with former UFC competitors / awesome bad-asses Ken Shamrock & Dan "The Beast" Severn. Val Venis takes on Chainz in what turns out to be the final WWF match for the leader of The Disciples of Apocalypse. "Double-J" Jeff Jarrett squares off with Darren Drozdov (perhaps he should be called "Double-D"?). Avatar makes his return to the WWF to confront Jerry "The King" Lawler over the fact that Al Snow still has not gotten the meeting which was promised to him. Plus, we get our final Edge vignette before his debut next week, and an underwhelming tag team makes its final appearance on "Raw." June 8th, 1998: Thanks to his charitable endeavors, Vince McMahon will be honored with a Humanitarian of the Year Award, and he's feeling so generous that he even invites "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to join the ceremony. However, The Undertaker is still looking to have a face-to-face conversation with the boss, and he's willing to disrupt "Raw" as much as possible in order to get what he wants. "Summerslam" will take place in New York City two months from now, so the WWF sent D-Generation-X out into the streets of The Big Apple, where Triple-H proceeds to bust out several offensive accents. Later in the night, The New Age Outlaws are ordered to defend their WWF Tag Team Titles against L.O.D. 2000 and The Disciples of Apocalypse in a Triple Threat Match, but the Outlaws hatch a brilliant plan to get the better of their opponents. In our first King of the Ring Qualifying Match, Ken Shamrock takes on Kama, whose Nation of Domination pals are banned from ringisde. In our second qualifier, Owen Hart goes one-on-one with Scorpio in what turns out to be a very solid match. And in our third qualifier, Dan "The Beast" Severn squares off with D'Lo Brown, with the finish of the match being the launching point for D'Lo's rise to prominence in the WWF. Jeff Jarrett & Marc Mero team up to face the opponents they each beat last week: Faarooq & Steve Blackman. Val Venis takes on Dustin Runnels, who is making his first apperance on "Raw" in three weeks. Mark Henry and Vader go head-to-head in an attempt to figure out who is the biggest 400-pound jobber on the roster. Darren Drozdov has a match with Chainz because, well, sometimes you just have to fill three minutes of TV time. Plus, Al Snow continues to seek a meeting with Vince McMahon, we get an Edge vignette which provides the audio for his future theme music, and Sable gets a tribute video because she is most definitely gone from the WWF forever. Meanwhile over on "Nitro," a famous trouble-making basketball player skips practice before Game 4 of the NBA Finals to hang out with Hulk Hogan! Enjoying the Podcast? June 1st, 1998: It's the night after "Over the Edge," and things continue to get even crazier in the WWF! For the first time ever, The Undertaker breaks his "Dead Man" character and cuts a worked shoot promo demanding that Vince McMahon give him a shot at the WWF Title. The boss somewhat gives him what he wants as he then schedules a match on "Raw" for the #1 contendership: The Undertaker vs. Kane! D-Generation-X battles The Nation of Domination in a six-man tag team elimination match, but a returning superstar ends up angering both sides. Dude Love was not able to win his title match at "Over the Edge," and this failure may end up costing Mick Foley his job. In our first King of the Ring Qualifying Match of the night, Steve Blackman takes on "Marvelous" Marc Mero, who introduces us to his brand new valet. In our second qualifier, Faarooq goes head-to-head with Jeff Jarrett, who now has a repackaged tag team watching his back. And in our third qualifier, Terry Funk almost kills himself attempting to defeat Mark Henry. L.O.D. 2000 & Droz take on The Disciples of Apocalypse in a Chicago Street Fight, a.k.a. sloppily brawling in an alleyway with a bunch of weapons. Val Venis cuts his first ever in-ring promo (spoiler: it's not very good) and then he goes one-on-one with Papi Chulo. Taka Michinoku defends his Light Heavyweight Championship against the still-employed-by-WWE-in-2016 Funaki. Plus, Vader provides us with the greatest soundbite of his entire career! May 18th, 1998: With only two weeks to go before "Over the Edge," big things are happening on "Raw" so we had to bring in Martin Dixon from The New Blood Rising to help break it all down! On this very day, World Championship Wrestling filed a frivolous lawsuit against the WWF, and we have all of the amusing details. Vince McMahon, Pat Patterson, and Gerald Brisco claim they are all willing to fight "Stone Cold" Steve Austin tonight...... unfortunately, Austin is banned from the building. Dustin Runnels is given a chance to main event "Over the Edge" if he can defeat Dude Love, but he will have to work for 30 days without receiving a paycheck if he loses. Attitude Era mainstay Val Venis finally makes his in-ring WWF debut in what turns out to be a bit of a clunky match against Scorpio. Paul Bearer and Kane head to a local medical center for some DNA testing in an attempt to definitively prove that Bearer is Kane's father, but we are only able to focus on the fact that Kane is wearing a jacket with neon purple sleeves. The DX/Nation of Domination rivalry continues to intensify as The New Age Outlaws defend their WWF Tag Team Titles against The Rock & Owen Hart. Sable has ended her relationship with Marc Mero, but "The Marvelous One" is not willing to let her break her ironclad managerial contract. L.O.D. 2000 continues their feud with The Disciples of Apocalypse to the delight of no one. Kaientai take on The Headbangers in tag team action because sometimes you just need to fill five minutes of TV time. In one of the most famous moments in WWE history, D-Generation-X seeks to take the fight directly to World Championship Wrestling by invading a nearby taping of "Nitro." Later in the night, Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws battle Skull & 8-Ball in a non-title match while Triple-H issues an open challenge for his European Title. Vince McMahon considers firing WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin for his actions the previous night but instead he puts him into a title match against The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust, much to the chagrin of Dude Love. Ken Shamrock & Owen Hart take on The Rock & Mark Henry, but a shocking swerve results in one of the competitors being badly injured. The Undertaker faces (of all people) Barry Windham in The Dead Man's first match on "Raw" in four months. After the match, Paul Bearer proposes a truce to 'Taker and delivers a shocking revelation about his relationship to Kane. Sable finally decides to stick up for herself by challenging Marc Mero to a match on "Raw" two weeks from now because potential spousal abuse = ratings! Jeff Jarrett goes one-on-one with Bradshaw as Club Kamikaze continues to make life difficult for the future JBL. Terry Funk & 2 Cold Scorpio square off with The Headbangers in a match where the winning team receives a shot at the WWF Tag Team Titles. April 13th, 1998: After an 84-week losing streak, "Raw" finally defeats "Nitro" in The Monday Night Wars, so we had to have Andy, Adam, and Jason from The Questionable Endeavor Network on the show to discuss this monumental event! "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wants to defend his WWF Title live on "Raw," and he hand-picks his opponent to be.......... Vince McMahon. The Undertaker sends a message to Kane by beating up several jobbers, but will it be enough to lure The Big Red Machine into a face-to-face confrontation? Faarooq calls out the entire Nation of Domination, but this time he has some friends to watch his back. Owen Hart goes one-on-one with Billy Gunn in a match which is thankfully given quite a bit of TV time. Terry Funk needs a new tag team partner now that Cactus Jack has hung up his boots, so he introduces us to someone who will "put Funk in our faces." The New Midnight Express take on the bad-ass dream team of Ken Shamrock & Steve Blackman, with the highlight being a pre-match stare-down between Shamrock and Dan Severn. Luna Vachon cuts a bonkers promo where she references having her period for some reason, and then she challenges Sable to face her tonight instead of waiting for "Unforgiven." Jeff Jarrett squares off with Taka Michinoku as leaflets advertising his upcoming concert fall from the sky. Skull & 8-Ball take on Savio Vega & Jesus Castillo in a Chain Match while D-Generation-X lurks at ringside. Plus, we go on the set with Val Venis, a long-time veteran wrestles his final match on "Raw," and a chair magically walks all by itself! Enjoying the Podcast? April 6th, 1998: After being sent to jail last week, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has apparently reconsidered and become Vince McMahon's corporate champion.... or has he? The brand new version of D-Generation-X runs afoul of The Disciples of Apocalypse by [ahem] washing their motorcycles, which results in a match between the two factions. A despondent Cactus Jack takes the fans to task for cheering on another wrestler, and we may have seen the last of him in the WWF as a result. Kane and Paul Bearer continue their mind games by desecrating the gravesite of The Undertaker's parents. The new Nation of Domination ambushes Faarooq backstage, and The Rock then puts his Intercontinental Title on the line against Owen Hart. Ken Shamrock goes one-on-one with Marc Mero while The Nation continues to cause trouble for "The World's Most Dangerous Man." Steve Blackman squares off with Brian Christopher, but Blackman's nemesis Jeff Jarrett is not finished with him yet. Dan "The Beast" Severn has his debut WWF match against Flash Funk, so you can probably predict that outcome pretty easily. Luna Vachon takes on a random jobber in what is billed as the WWF's first ever intergender match. Plus, X-Pac almost ruins the new DX's debut promo by quoting the most inoffensive rapper of all-time and a terrible gimmick gets sent to Wrestler Heaven! Enjoying the Podcast?
