Welcome back to another episode of The Lawcast! This time the Road to Wrestlemania begins as our hosts begin a season in which they'll cover the turbulent path to Wrestlemania as told through a series of critical nights of Dwayne Johnson's career. We begin with Thursday Raw Thursday from February 13, 1997. This was a special episode of Raw that took place live on a Thursday night (Raw was preempted due to The Westminster Dog Show). We were supposed to be getting all three major WWF titles defended, but fate had other plans. This is the infamous night that Shawn Michaels forfeited the WWF Title due to a knee injury and "losing his smile." We reevaluate Shawn's situation through a modern lense and feel very differently about it than we think most fans did back then. We also have Rocky Maivia getting his first ever title shot, as he faces Hunter Hearst Helmsley for the Intercontinental Title. Our hosts also discuss another big week in current wrestling: Vince McMahon being under a federal criminal investigation, The Rock/Cody/Roman Wrestlemania saga, and Rossy Ogawa and Scott D'Amore both being abruptly fired.

An obvious pick by Sarah for topics - when Hulk Hogan fully emerged as a huge pop culture icon in the decade at Madison Square Garden in January of 1984! Just in time for this year's Royal Rumble, It Happened One Year finally enters the wrestling arena and talks a little leg-dropping and camel-clutching! Sarah & Joe break down the lives and careers of Hogan and the Iron Sheik, their glancing and not-so-glancing personal interactions with pro wrestling over the years, and discuss whether 1998's Brawl For All was the worst thing to ever happen in the history of sports. Along the way are cameos from Muppets From Space, the Gawker trial, Marvel Comics, the Shah of Iran, Thunderlips, and many more!
Jason Smith explains why the Chargers hiring Jim Harbaugh would be a home run hire for both sides. And 40 years ago, tonight Hulk Hogan beat the Iron Sheik to win the WWF Title!!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this episode of What Happened When, Tony and Conrad watch the epic WWE World Championship Hell In A Cell match between Cactus Jack and Triple H! This match suggestion comes from T.J. Stephens from La Porte, Indiana. His choice is tremendous, as we take you back to Madison Square Garden in early 2000. T.J. wrote: "Hello Tony, Conrad, and the rest of the WHW Slapdick Nation. Today's special match will be Cactus Jack v HHH for the WWF Title at Royal Rumble 2000. To me, this is the most under appreciated PPV title match of the past 25 years, and the story was terrific. So, let's all sit back, relax, and listen to Tony shit on me, and this match. Thank you." It's going to be very difficult for Tony and Conrad to shit on this match. But wait there's more! We're going way back to an incredible Mid-South Wrestling battle between Ted DiBiase and the Nature Boy Ric Flair! It is here where Ric Flair defends the NWA Heavyweight Championship against Ted DiBiase. However, the match was not so much the memorable part of this night as much as the angle between DiBiase and Dick Murdoch. It is a great television wrestling show, so says LKBH Mike Lednicky of West, Texas, who suggested this watch along: "Would it be too much to ask to watch the show or just the world title between Flair and Dibiase from the 11-16-85 episode of Mid-South Wrestling? I was 11 when that happened and it was and still is maybe the greatest single hour of wrestling TV I've seen, capped off by that title match which turned Dibiase face." It's another great choice! And Mike, we will watch the entire show. HENSON SHAVING - It's time to say no to subscriptions and yes to a razor that'll last you a lifetime.
