June 21st, 1999: New CEO "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The McMahons are at odds with each other, so someone needs to step in to restore order.... and thankfully, Commissioner Shawn Michaels is in town. HBK books "Stone Cold" vs. The Big Boss Man and, if Austin wins, there will be no Corporate Ministry interference allowed in the Ladder Match at "King of the Ring." Regarding Vince & Shane, they'll get a tune-up match tonight against their former stooges Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco. And as for The Corporate Ministry, Commissioner Michaels attempts to make sure that the top two members of that faction will remain at odds with each other when he orders WWF Champion The Undertaker to defend his title tonight against Triple-H! In a dream match you never knew you wanted, The Rock steps into the ring with Edge. Jeff Jarrett is ordered to defend his WWF Intercontinental Title against Ken Shamrock and Test in a Triple Threat Match. WWF Tag Team Champions The Acolytes team up with "Mr. Ass" to face "The Road Dogg," X-Pac, and Kane in a six-man tag team match where the tag titles are somehow on the line. The Big Show faces Hardcore Holly in a Hardcore Match which ends with the big man attempting to crush Holly with a car! Val Venis is scheduled to face Prince Albert, but the match takes an interesting turn before it can even begin. Mark Henry and Viscera square off in a Body Slam Challenge, which is unfortunately referred to as a "Gorilla Slam Match." GTV continues to catch people in embarrassing situations backstage, and this week it's Al Snow's turn. Plus, we get the return of someone who hasn't been on "Raw" in three months, Beaver Cleavage can no longer take it anymore, and is it really true that a member of The Mean Street Posse pinned "Stone Cold"?! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," Master P yells the phrase "hootie hoo" 1,000 times! Enjoying the Podcast? E-mail us at rawattitudepodcast@gmail.com or Tweet us @RawAttitudePod! February 22nd, 1999: The Undertaker's torment of Vince McMahon causes the chairman to schedule a very interesting main event: 'Taker vs. Kane in the first ever Inferno Match on "Monday Night Raw!" And speaking of Mr. McMahon, he appears to have some other problems on his hands when Paul Wight challenges fellow Corporation member The Rock to put his WWF Title on the line tonight! In order to receive a European Title rematch against Shane McMahon at "WrestleMania," X-Pac has to earn it the hard way by stepping into the ring with Chyna. Ken Shamrock faces Billy Gunn in a match where the winner becomes the #1 contender for the Intercontinental Title.... even though both men lost Intercontinental Title matches last week. And on a related note, WWF Intercontinental Champion Val Venis goes one-on-one with Goldust in a non-title match, which features some unexpected outside interference. WWF Hardcore Champion Bob Holly is now referring to himself as "Hardcore Holly," and he puts his title on the line against his former tag team partner Bart Gunn. D'Lo Brown calls out the WWF Tag Team Champions Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart, and the result is pretty much exactly what you would expect. Edge & Gangrel step into the ring with a legendary ECW tag team who are finally making their debut in the WWF. Steve Blackman squares off with Darren Drozdov because sometimes you just need to kill three minutes of television time. Plus, Mankind is petitioning to be the special guest referee for the main event of "WrestleMania," and Sable's heel turn continues as she proceeds to confront her stalker and Luna Vachon. Meanwhile over in WCW, Rey Mysterio is forced to unmask because... reasons? Enjoying the Podcast? E-mail us at rawattitudepodcast@gmail.com or Tweet us @RawAttitudePod! With The Choice M.I.A., Camp and Crockett kick off the show trying to figure out why Nick Jackson made such flippant comments about New Japan and not working the World Tag League. They transition into a quick discussion about a Power Struggle, which felt like a show that was just there. However, that leads to Crockett quizzing Camp on the history of the European Title. Where does NJPW go with the NEVER title and Goto/Ospreay/Ibushi, if anywhere? The World Tag League teams and format is covered. Yikes. The big news of the week is Tetsuya Naito turning down a WWE offer, but were there others? Also, TAKA got into some hot water.
February 14th / 15th, 1999: Who will be in the main event of "WrestleMania 15"? We find out the answer at "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" and the following night's episode of "Raw," so listen along as Adam from NitroMania joins the show to break it all down! "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" Card: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon in a Steel Cage Match WWF Champion Mankind vs. The Rock in a Last Man Standing Match Triple-H & X-Pac vs. Chyna & Kane WWF Intercontinental Champion Ken Shamrock vs. Val Venis w/Billy Gunn acting as the special guest referee WWF Tag Team Champions Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart vs. D'Lo Brown & Mark Henry Bob Holly vs. Al Snow for the vacant WWF Hardcore Title The Big Boss Man vs. Mideon Goldust vs. Bluedust February 15th, 1999 "Monday Night Raw": Under pressure from Vince McMahon, Commissioner Shawn Michaels books one final match between WWF Champion Mankind and The Rock: a Ladder Match for the title tonight on "Raw!" And speaking of Mr. McMahon, "Stone Cold" may have gotten the better of him last night, but the chairman has another trick up his sleeve when he appoints a special guest referee for the main event of "WrestleMania": new WWF signee Paul Wight! Triple-H & X-Pac face the team of Kane & Shane McMahon in a tag match with a rather interesting stipulation: X-Pac's European Title is on the line. Val Venis puts his newly-won Intercontinental Title on the line against Billy Gunn, and "The Big Valbowski" has some unfortunate news for Ryan Shamrock after the match concludes. Kevin Kelly conducts an interview with WWF Women's Champion Sable, who appears to have a bit of a new attitude. Corporation members The Big Boss Man, Test, and Ken Shamrock face Ministry of Darkness members The Acolytes & Mideon in a six-man tag team match which ends up being overshadowed by The Undertaker's new plot to take over the WWF. Bob Holly defends his Hardcore Title against Steve Blackman, but then he receives a surprise after the match when a former tag team partner returns after a six-month absence. Jeff Jarrett & Debra team up to face D'Lo Brown & Ivory in an intergender tag team match. Meanwhile over on "Nitro," Hulk Hogan wrestles "Rowdy" Roddy Piper on free television with literally ZERO build-up, the nWo leaves Ric Flair for dead in a field, and Bret Hart steps into the ring with a cast member from "Mad TV" for some reason! January 11th, 1999: In his first promo since winning the WWF Title last week, Mankind duels on the mic with The Rock as the former champ tries to talk Mick Foley into a rematch at the "Royal Rumble." However, Mankind may not even make it that far because Vince McMahon forces him to defend his belt tonight on "Raw" against Kane. And speaking of The McMahons, Shane announces a very special main event for tonight's show: a Corporate Royal Rumble pitting members of The Corporation against members of DX, with the winner being awarded the #30 position in the Royal Rumble match. In what is likely one of the most bizarre segments in the history of the WWF/E, The Undertaker returns after a month-long absence to perform an unholy ritual on Dennis Knight. Triple-H steps into the ring with Edge in a match which we surprisingly only end up getting a handful of times over the next 12 years despite both men's lengthy tenures with the company. As a counterpunch to Tony Schiavone's "butts in seats" line from "Nitro" last week, we get introduced to the legendary character who is simply known as..... Gillberg. The New Age Outlaws face Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart, with the winning team earning the right to become the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Titles. Val Venis sets his sights on a lovely young woman in the crowd, but he gets more than he bargained for when it turns out that he's attempting to seduce the sister of a fellow wrestler. Because D'Lo Brown was somewhat responsible for causing her miscarriage last week, Terri Runnels forces D'Lo to fight his own best friend: Mark Henry. X-Pac puts his European Title on the line against the newly Head-less Al Snow. Plus, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin continues to wreak havoc, Chyna's friend Sammy is still hanging around, and Shane helps Vince train for the Royal Rumble by having him chase a chicken in the snow! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," WCW follows up their "Fingerpoke of Doom" episode with three hours of television that are somehow even worse than last week's show! Enjoying the Podcast? December 28th, 1998: Because Shawn Michaels refused to help out Shane McMahon last week, Vince McMahon vows to fire him live on "Raw" tonight only five short weeks into HBK's tenure as commissioner! "The Road Dogg" Jesse James is initially booked to defend his Hardcore Title against Val Venis, but Vince replaces Val with Mankind in an attempt to drive a wedge between DX and Foley. Two months after vacating the Intercontinental Title, Triple-H gets a chance to regain the belt when he takes on reigning champion Ken Shamrock. In another DX vs. Corporation match, X-Pac puts his European Title on the line against The Big Boss Man. And in a third match between the two stables, DX member Billy Gunn goes one-on-one with the newest member of The Corporation: Kane. The newly-named Pretty Mean Sisters seek to continue their torment of Mark Henry, but "The World's Strongest Man" receives some unexpected back-up from his "girlfriend" Chyna. Sable is scheduled to defend her WWF Women's Championship against..... The Spider Lady? Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett team up to face the unlikely team of Steve Blackman & Goldust. Edge steps into the ring with a still-covered-in-blood Al Snow, who apparently hasn't bathed since he received a bloodbath 13 days ago. Plus, Shane helps Vince train for the Royal Rumble match in an amusing montage, Dan "The Beast" Severn makes a surprise return, and an unsuspecting Dennis Knight comes to the arena because "He" told him to be there. Meanwhile over in WCW, Kevin Nash ends Goldberg's winning streak at "Starrcade 1998" and Ric Flair challenges Eric Bischoff on "Nitro" for control of the company! Enjoying the Podcast? November 30th, 1998: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wants payback on The Undertaker for his actions over the past few weeks, and he enlists an unlikely ally to help him do it. Unfortunately for Paul Bearer, this results in him being thrown into a very undesirable location. Chyna agrees to go on a date with Mark Henry in order to get him to drop his sexual harassment lawsuit against her, but is "The Ninth Wonder of the World" actually warming up to Mark's advances? In a non-title match, WWF Champion The Rock goes one-on-one with Al Snow because he only steps into the ring with the best of the best. Mankind is forced to defend his coveted Hardcore Title against The Big Boss Man in what is only the sixth ever Ladder Match in WWF history. After last week's swerve, X-Pac calls out new WWF Commissioner Shawn Michaels, which results in HBK forcing him to defend his European Title tonight against Ken Shamrock. Gangrel & Edge team up to take on Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws, who are still being recruited to join The Corporation. Goldust steps into the ring with Jeff Jarrett as the "retired" Owen Hart looks on from ringside. A disgruntled Marc Mero puts his career on the line against -- of all people -- Duane Gill, but the Light Heavyweight Champion has some back-up in the form of a debuting weirdo from ECW. Val Venis takes on Tiger Ali Singh in a match which ends up being horrendously overbooked despite the fact that it only lasts for about three minutes. Shane McMahon forces WWF Women's Champion Sable to return to her roots and model WWF merchandise, and this particular product is rather unusual. Plus, a popular wrestler makes a surprise return, The Blue Blazer unmasks himself, and a 22-year-old Stephanie McMahon makes a random appearance backstage! Meanwhile over in WCW, Hulk Hogan retires from wrestling just a month before "Starrcade" in order to run for President of the United States. Enjoying the Podcast? October 5th, 1998: It's a wild night in the WWF, and Bill from Tooning Japanese is joining the Podcast to discuss all of the craziness! After having his leg broken by The Brothers of Destruction last week, Vince McMahon is now confined to a hospital bed where he receives several unwelcome visitors. In particular, one of his guests introduces us to a new character, who goes on to become the most popular sock-puppet in wrestling history. In a stellar main event, The Undertaker steps into the ring with The Rock while Kane looks on nearby. "The Big Red Machine" also has a match of his own tonight as he does battle with the no-longer-fan-friendly Ken Shamrock. X-Pac defends his European Title against D'Lo Brown in a rematch from two weeks ago. Mark Henry squares off with "The Road Dogg" Jesse James, who has seemingly replaced his partner Billy Gunn with an inflatable sex doll. Owen Hart is scheduled to wrestle Edge, but "The Black Hart" appears to be too distraught to compete after injuring Dan Severn last week. Val Venis does battle with Gangrel, and then "The Big Valbowski" receives an invitation to Goldust's "world premiere" next week on "Raw." Marc Mero goes one-on-one with Vader in what sadly turns out to be the final televised match of "The Mastodon's" disappointing WWF career. The Headbangers call out The Insane Clown Posse and, when the clowns show up, Mosh and Thrasher proceed to give them a pretty brutal beating, complete with unprotected chair-shots to their painted skulls. Al Snow takes on Jeff Jarrett while Snow's nemesis Commissioner Slaughter makes his presence felt outside of the ring. Plus, Mark Henry sues Chyna for sexual harassment, Steven Regal continues to be manly, and we find out that the mysterious man accompanying Gangrel is Edge's brother Christian! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," we get one of the dumbest segments in wrestling history as Hulk Hogan hallucinates and sees The Warrior in a mirror..... but the viewers at home can see him too. September 28th, 1998: After a shocking turn of events at "Breakdown" last night, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is no longer the WWF Champion! Vince McMahon schedules a ceremony to present the title to the new champion tonight, but "The Rattlesnake" has a surprise in store when he shows up on a very unique vehicle. Later on, Mr. McMahon forces The Undertaker & Kane to compete in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match against The Rock, Mankind, and Ken Shamrock. However, the chairman's pride ends up getting the better of him when he pushes The Brothers of Destruction too far, resulting in a brutal beating at their hands. The New Age Outlaws defend their WWF Tag Team Titles against Southern Justice, but a surprising scuffle may cause one member of DX to leave the group. X-Pac puts his newly-won European Title on the line against Val Venis, with the highlight being the post-match return of a bizarre superstar. And speaking of the European Title, for the first time on "Raw" we get a Six-Man Elimination Match between Edge, Gangrel, D'Lo Brown, Jeff Jarrett, Marc Mero, and Darren Drozdov, with the winner becoming the #1 contender for X-Pac's title next week. Owen Hart faces Dan "The Beast" Severn in a Submission Match, but it ends up being cut short when one of the participants appears to get seriously injured (spoiler: it's not actually a legitimate injury). Mark Henry goes one-on-one against Faarooq with Chyna acting as a completely-not-impartial guest referee. Al Snow takes on Vader in a match which only serves to further destroy the career of "The Mastodon." Oddities members Kurrgan & Golga team up to take on the freshly-heel-turned Headbangers as hometown Detroit natives The Insane Clown Posse make their presence felt during the match. Plus, a full recap of the surprisingly eventful "Breakdown" pay-per-view! September 21st, 1998: With only six days to go until "Breakdown," Vince McMahon books The Brothers of Destruction to face WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and a partner..... if anyone volunteers to join him. The Rock, Mankind, and Ken Shamrock do battle in a Triple Threat Match to determine who will become the #1 contender for the title one week from tonight. For the first time in almost three years, the WWF decides to crown a new Women's Champion, and it will be the winner of the match between Sable and Jacqueline. In order to get a job with the company, Al Snow must defeat Commissioner Slaughter in a contest which is Sarge's specialty: The Boot Camp Match. D'Lo Brown puts his coveted European Title on the line against X-Pac as the rivalry between these two continues to escalate. Owen Hart faces Val Venis as a distraught Dustin Runnels looks on while doing commentary, and Dustin's night then proceeds to get even worse as Val introduces us to his newest movie. Jeff Jarrett goes one-on-one with Billy Gunn, who may have another trick up his sleeve before the night is over. The Oddities and Headbangers are scheduled to face each other, but an interesting turn puts the match in jeopardy. In a rare heel vs. heel tag match, Southern Justice faces The Disciples of Apocalypse, and the outcome of this one makes absolutely zero sense. Plus, Jim Cornette and Shane McMahon (unfortunately) fill in for Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, and we get a random backstage appearance from Vince Russo! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," The Warrior hangs out with a Brutus Beefcake blow-up doll (yes, seriously)! Also, don't forget to check out Henry Huge-Pecs on the 10th episode of The Rundown Wrestling Podcast's "NitroMania" series: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/rundown/episodes/2017-08-28T21_00_00-07_00 Enjoying the Podcast? August 30th / September 5th, 1998: The Highway To Hell stops here because it is finally time for "SummerSlam 1998!" And for a pay-per-view this massive, we needed to enlist a special guest: New Blood Rising Podcast host William Renken! What happens at "SummerSlam" and the following Saturday night episode of "Raw"? Join us and find out! "SummerSlam 1998" Card: WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. The Undertaker WWF Intercontinental Champion The Rock vs. Triple-H in a Ladder Match WWF Tag Team Champion Mankind (without Kane) defends his title(s?) against The New Age Outlaws WWF European Champion D'Lo Brown vs. Val Venis Ken Shamrock vs. Owen Hart in a Lion's Den Match Jeff Jarrett vs. X-Pac in a Hair vs. Hair Match Marc Mero & Jacqueline vs. Sable & a mystery partner The Oddities vs. Kaientai September 5th, 1998 "Saturday Night Raw": Vince McMahon comes up with an evil scheme to get the WWF Title taken off his arch-nemesis, and that plan apparently includes making The Undertaker and Kane incredibly angry throughout the entire night. The New Age Outlaws defend their newly-won Tag Team Titles against The Rock & Mark Henry, but Chyna seeks to make The Nation pay for their actions last week on "Raw." D'Lo Brown puts his European Title on the line against X-Pac in a precursor to what will become a pretty solid feud throughout the fall of 1998. In a match which somehow main events this show, the new-look Jeff Jarrett goes head-to-head with Scorpio. Val Venis squares off with Vader because you can never have too many V's. The Oddities go up against L.O.D. 2000 and Droz, but Hawk's personal demons continue to plague him. Ken Shamrock & Steve Blackman have apparently patched up their differences, so they unite to face The Disciples of Apocalypse. Edge takes on Marc Mero while the commentators continue to speculate about Edge's past with Gangrel. Southern Justice do battle with The Headbangers because these are apparently two of the strongest tag teams on the roster at the moment. Too Much and Los Boricuas have a match, but the most noteworthy aspect of it is the fact that Jesus Castillo is wearing atrocious dad jeans. Tiger Ali Singh continues his humiliation of greedy Americans by having a sardine-chomping Babu make out with a young woman from the crowd. Plus, Al Snow gets a sitdown interview with Jim Ross despite the fact that he and Head are supposed to be gone from the company. Enjoying the Podcast? August 3rd, 1998: While Vince McMahon continues to accuse The Undertaker of being in cahoots with his brother, The Dead Man & "Stone Cold" Steve Austin must defend their WWF Tag Team Titles against Nation of Domination co-leaders The Rock & Owen Hart. D-Generation-X's struggles continue as Triple-H and X-Pac are forced to go head-to-head while The New Age Outlaws must do battle with Kane & Mankind. Val Venis & Taka Michinoku team up to take on Togo & Funaki, but a shocking swerve may allow Yamaguchi-San to make good on his promise to "choppy-choppy Val's pee-pee." The WWE Network edits out a segment where Sable helps to repackage The Oddities from angry societal rejects into fun-loving goofballs, but don't worry: all of the details are covered on the Podcast! The Godfather and Scorpio square off in a Brawl For All match-up, with the most noteworthy moment being the debut of The Godfather "making an offer you can't refuse." Hawk issues an apology for showing up intoxicated on "Raw" last week, and then he goes one-on-one with the slumping Jeff Jarrett. D'Lo Brown defends his European Title against Dan "The Beast" Severn as the WWF continues to tease a Severn/Ken Shamrock match despite the fact that Shamrock is already booked to face Owen Hart at "Summerslam." Indian aristocrat Tiger Ali Singh returns to the WWF and attempts to prove that Americans will do just about anything for money. Plus, Edge makes another surprise appearance and Triple-H shills for Stridex! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," Eric Bischoff continues to parody "The Tonight Show" to the delight of no one, and a cameraman zooms in on one of the most offensive signs in wrestling history! August 2nd, 1998: Not only is it the debut episode of "Sunday Night Heat," but it's also the debut of Shane McMahon in a full-time on-camera capacity! WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin gives us his thoughts on his uneasy alliance with The Undertaker as we continue to build up to their match at "Summerslam." Kane & Mankind battle Nation of Domination co-leaders The Rock & Owen Hart for the right to earn a Tag Team Title shot the next night on "Monday Night Raw." D-Generation-X members Triple-H and X-Pac tell us that DX is as strong as ever despite their recent struggles, and Hunter gets some more planted fans in the crowd to show their breasts. D'Lo Brown defends his European Title against Ken Shamrock while Dan "The Beast" Severn further antagonizes "The World's Most Dangerous Man." Val Venis continues to enjoy the company of Mrs. Yamaguchi-San despite the threat of getting his pee-pee chopped, and then, for some reason, he gets into a confrontation with former "Saved By The Bell" star Mario Lopez. Edge returns to the ring after a six-week absence and goes one-on-one with Jeff Jarrett, who appears to be losing his patience with Tennessee Lee. We take another journey into "Droz's World," where Darren Drozdov regales us with the story of how he surprised Mark Henry by puking on him during training. Droz and The Headbangers then square off with Kaientai in six-man tag team action. Plus, Bart Gunn's Brawl-For-All victory over "Dr. Death" earns him the right to hang out with one of the stars of The USA Network's terrible show "Pacific Blue." Meanwhile on this same night, a recently fired WWF valet makes her debut on ECW's similarly-named "Heatwave" pay-per-view. Enjoying the Podcast? July 20th, 1998: Not only is this the go-home episode of "Raw" before "Fully Loaded," but it's also the first TV-MA episode in our timeline! Fed up with The Undertaker's defiance, Vince McMahon orders him to compete in a Handicap Match against WWF Tag Team Champions Kane & Mankind. However, when 'Taker refuses to show up for the match, Mr. McMahon swaps in WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in his place. We get two title matches pitting The Nation and DX against each other: The Rock defends his Intercontinental Title against X-Pac and Triple-H puts his European Title on the line against D'Lo Brown. Jim Ross's pal "Dr. Death" Steve Williams makes his WWF debut in The Brawl For All against Quebecer Pierre, who J.R. insists will be tough competition despite the fact that he only has one eye. Because she dishonored him by starring in one of Val Venis's films, Yamaguchi-San seeks to punish his wife by paddling her ass like a fraternity pledge. Sable and Jacqueline's war of words continues, and Jackie then helpfully removes Sable's hideous-looking dress for her. Jeff Jarrett squares off with Steve Blackman, who awesomely enlists former UFC fighters Ken Shamrock and Dan "The Beast" Severn as his back-up. Owen Hart proves he's one of the best wrestlers in the world by miraculously managing to get a serviceable match out of Faarooq. L.O.D. 2000 member Animal is scheduled to face Skull from The D.O.A., but there appears to be some confusion when Hawk does not accompany his tag team partner to the ring. Plus, Shawn Michaels returns to the commentary table, the 8-Ball/Scorpio Brawl For All fight gets relegated to the pre-show, and Edge makes a surprise in-ring appearance that the cameraman completely misses. Also, Triple-H gets a woman in the crowd to show her breasts, which almost causes Jerry "The King" Lawler to have an on-air heart attack 14 years too early. Enjoying the Podcast? For the first time ever in the history of the podcast, the WWF stage a Pay-Per-View from our home country of jolly old England! Naturally, The British Bulldog headlines, defending his European Title against Shawn Michaels in a notorious match rife with backstage politics, but how does the overall card hold up? In Episode 73 of ‘The New Generation Project Podcast' we run down “One Night Only”! Want to give something back to the show? April 27th, 1998: It's the night after "Unforgiven," and special guest co-host Troy Boesen from The Geek & Gamer Guild Podcast is here to recap a historic episode of "Monday Night Raw!" In one of the most famous moments in WWE history, D-Generation-X seeks to take the fight directly to World Championship Wrestling by invading a nearby taping of "Nitro." Later in the night, Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws battle Skull & 8-Ball in a non-title match while Triple-H issues an open challenge for his European Title. Vince McMahon considers firing WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin for his actions the previous night but instead he puts him into a title match against The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust, much to the chagrin of Dude Love. Ken Shamrock & Owen Hart take on The Rock & Mark Henry, but a shocking swerve results in one of the competitors being badly injured. The Undertaker faces (of all people) Barry Windham in The Dead Man's first match on "Raw" in four months. After the match, Paul Bearer proposes a truce to 'Taker and delivers a shocking revelation about his relationship to Kane. Sable finally decides to stick up for herself by challenging Marc Mero to a match on "Raw" two weeks from now because potential spousal abuse = ratings! Jeff Jarrett goes one-on-one with Bradshaw as Club Kamikaze continues to make life difficult for the future JBL. Terry Funk & 2 Cold Scorpio square off with The Headbangers in a match where the winning team receives a shot at the WWF Tag Team Titles. This episode is almost two and a half hours long but, much like Val Venis, we refuse to apologize for the length. Enjoying the Podcast? Welcome back to the Mat Madness Wrestling Podcast and the first-ever episode of Throwback Madness! Every PPV week we will choose one old PPV from the current month to review. This week Ron Pasceri, Joe Rodearmel, Eric Trembicki and Aaron Lloyd to the time machine all the way back to Judgement Day 2000. Triple H faced The Rock in a 60 minute Iron Man Match for the then WWF Championship. Other action saw Chris Benoit defend the Intercontinental Championship in a Submission Match against Chris Jericho, DX faced the Dudley Boys in a Tag Team Tables Match, Shane went toe to toe with Big Show, Eddie Guerrero with Chyna defended his European Title against Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn and Kurt Angle with Edge and Christian faced off with Too Cool and Rikishi. So join us for so fun back in the Attitude Era!
March 17th, 1998: This week, it's a special Tuesday episode of "Raw" because The USA Network wanted to air a whale movie in the WWF's Monday timeslot instead! Four months after The Montreal Screwjob, Vince McMahon finally embraces his inner bad guy and tells the world what he really thinks about the possibility of a "Stone Cold" Steve Austin title reign. The Rock introduces not one, not two, but three of his most popular catchphrases! Ken Shamrock uses some rather racist language to describe D'Lo Brown, which he later pays for by receiving one of the most horrific chair-shots in wrestling history. Sable calls out Luna Vachon, but an unexpected guest ends up crashing the party. Triple-H attempts to coerce an injured Owen Hart into defending his European Title less than two weeks before their scheduled match at "Wrestlemania 14." Chainsaw Charlie goes head-to-head with Billy Gunn, and The Road Dogg ends up being the victim of a rather bizarre form of humiliation. The Rock 'n Roll Express & Jim Cornette take on The Headbangers in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match, but Cornette's newest proteges end up getting the last laugh. "Double J" Jeff Jarrett goes up against Tom Brandi, and the result of the match causes someone to blurt out a very loud f-bomb (which The WWE Network thankfully leaves uncensored!). Plus, an appearance by a local sports mascot, The Undertaker openly plagiarizes "Pulp Fiction," and three more superstars get inducted into Wrestler Heaven! Enjoying the Podcast? March 9th, 1998: Steve Austin is still irate about Mike Tyson joining DX so he calls out Vince McMahon, and "Stone Cold" is willing to hold the show hostage until the boss shows up. Later, Tyson himself gives a very brief, pre-taped interview to Jim Ross in which he basically says nothing important. Owen Hart defends his European Title against overweight cowboy Barry Windham while Triple-H and Chyna lurk at ringside. Kane and Paul Bearer claim that they are not afraid of The Undertaker, but The Dead Man puts that theory to the test by literally haunting the arena (yes, you read that correctly). The Rock & Faarooq take on Ken Shamrock & Steve Blackman (a.k.a. The Most Awesome Tag Team In History) as The Nation of Domination's internal turmoil continues. The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust goes one-on-one with Marc Mero in a match where Sable and Luna are needlessly handcuffed to opposing ringposts. Cactus Jack & Chainsaw Charlie square off with The Quebecers while The New Age Outlaws seek to make even more mischief. Aguila squares off with "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher, who provides us with an incredibly creepy soundbite. Enjoying the Podcast? February 23rd, 1998: The New Age Outlaws defend their WWF Tag Team Titles against The Legion of Doom, but the ensuing fallout may spell the end for Hawk and Animal. Kane and Paul Bearer call out the company's biggest star........ but they want to wait until next week's show to face him. Shawn Michaels, Triple-H, and Chyna have a pre-taped message from HBK's home in San Antonio because they can't be bothered to make the long, 180-mile trip to Waco this week. Owen Hart defends his European Title against Marc Mero in a match which is somehow the main event. Another major sports celebrity is confirmed for "Wrestlemania 14," but The WWE Network edits out his message to the fans (thankfully, we found it!). The Rock squares off with the somehow-still-undefeated Steve Blackman as the dissenion within The Nation of Domination continues to grow. Ken Shamrock goes one-on-one with Jeff Jarrett, who may no longer want to be part of The NWA. The Disciples of Apocalypse take on The Truth Commission in what is thankfully the final "Raw" match for one of these factions! NWA Tag Team Champions The Rock 'n Roll Express put their titles on the line against The Headbangers, but this time the match will be contested under WWF rules. The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust mocks his legendary father and then takes on an unamused Bradshaw. Taka Michinoku faces Barry Windham in a ridiculous THIRD match of the night which features an NWA member. Plus, Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie are lurking backstage, and Sable gets called out by Luna Vachon, whose insane promos are surprisingly awesome. Also, if you're psyched to see what "Stone Cold" Steve Austin does this week in the build-up to the "Wrestlemania" main event, well...... he's actually not on the show. Enjoying the Podcast? February 21st, 1998: Special guest Adam from The Rundown Wrestling Podcast swings by to discuss a rare Saturday episode of "Raw" and the results of the "No Way Out of Texas" pay-per-view. Chyna is threatening to sue Steve Austin for his recent actions, but "Stone Cold" does not seem to be very remorseful. Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie take on Marc Mero and The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust in the main event as the rivalry between Sable and Luna escalates. Owen Hart defends his European Title against Jeff Jarrett in a match which is actually quite enjoyable. The Rock attempts to soothe things over with his Nation of Domination pals by presenting them with gifts, and an irritated Faarooq then squares off with the undefeated Steve Blackman. The slumping Legion of Doom go up against The Quebecers while WWF Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws look to cause more mischief. Ken Shamrock battles Sniper as The Truth Commission continues to squabble internally. NWA Tag Team Champions The Rock 'n Roll Express put their belts on the line against The Headbangers in a match which is contested under NWA rules. Taka Michinoku and Aguila battle Brian Christopher and Pirata Morgan (and yes, he is a wrestling pirate). Plus, Michael P.S. Hayes (or is it Dok Hendrix?) returns to his home state in order to act as a guest ring announcer, but things do not exactly go as planned for the recent WWE Hall of Fame inductee. February 2nd, 1998: Special guest Andy from The Shadowvane Podcast stops by the show to discuss a very noteworthy episode of "Monday Night Raw." Tag team partners Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie square off in a hardcore match, but The New Age Outlaws bring the show to a crashing halt with an infamous ambush. Shawn Michaels and Triple-H deliver DX's State of the Union Address and then campaign for a match between Steve Austin and Mike Tyson at "Wrestlemania 14." "Stone Cold" wrestles on "Raw" for the first time in six months, but you might miss the match if you happen to blink. Owen Hart defends his European Title against Billy Gunn, and The Outlaws try to escalate their carnage even further after the match. Vader cartoonishly solves the mystery of how to stop an attack from Kane. Faarooq takes on Chainz in a match between the leaders of two rival factions. NWA members Jeff Jarrett and Barry Windham go up against Bradshaw and an incredibly underwhelming mystery partner. Headbanger Mosh goes one-on-one with Marc Mero, who seemingly never gets tired of belittling his own wife. A pre-taped vignette reintroduces us to Tiger Ali Singh, a wrestler we had tried to forget. January 26th, 1998: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin invites Mike Tyson to join him at the upcoming "No Way Out of Texas" pay-per-view, while Tyson's promoter Don King botches his way through a pre-taped promo. Owen Hart gets a European Title match against Triple-H.... sorta. Shawn Michaels proposes an alternate "Wrestlemania 14" main event. "One of the four biggest influences on my life and training." That's how Mick describes this weeks guest, Neil Simkin. Together they discuss his journey through the arts, from karate to BJJ, and the joys of competing at both. They also discuss the setting up of his own mat hire business, the GB youth elite BJJ squad, and the pain of losing a trusted sensei and friend in Steve Fan. #BJJ #JKD #Karate #BrazilianJiuJitsu #Grappling #RickYoung #BraulioEstima Over 40 years of martial arts experience, Neil first rose to fame as part of the England Karate Squad, which he would go onto captain.
