In this rebroadcast episode, I'll break down why let others lead us without questioning who we are, what we stand for, or what we do not tolerate, we lose ourselves.Take the time to look inside and find a clear sense of your boundaries, expectations, values and desires. Without all the noise, you might be surprised to find what you really want. You can't expect the people in your life to read your mind - figure out what's important to you and then communicate and set boundaries accordingly. Today we're going to revisit the topic of “incongruence.” You know that thing that happens when information, reality and behaviors just aren't lining up? That's incongruence. When this happens, it leaves the body in a state of confusion, anxiety, and even depression. It can be difficult to ask for clarity when you find yourself in an incongruent situation. Oftentimes, trying to have an honest conversation to get to the truth can result in confrontation and gaslighting. Being told to “let it go”, that you're being “too sensitive”, or that that “you're taking things personally” are all manipulative tactics used to avoid providing clarity and plush blame back on you. Trust your gut. Don't let anyone talk you out of it when you know someone is being dishonest, and love yourself enough to step away from situations or people that are unhealthy for you.–Please rate, review, and share the show with your friends!Follow me on Instagram at @SoireesInTherapyFollow the show at @SituationshitPodIf you want to work with me, visit SoireesInTherapy.com/Book-Now to book a free 15 minute consultation.Tired of situationships? This is a rebroadcast of an episode of Parts, Power & Leadership. Hosts Ruth and Kristin had never heard the term “situationship” and I had a great time getting into the definition with them. The focus of their show is on women in leadership so I shared how I became a business owner and traced my entrepreneurial roots all the way back to childhood.----Dontea' talks with us about situationships; relationships without a title that lacks definition or boundaries, and how that creates a toxic environment that breaks down women's self-worth. Dontea' offers new insights about how women can focus on their relationship with themselves as the path to attracting the right partner. As always, we are using the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS) in our discussion. In the interview we identify “parts” that Dontea' experienced during her entrepreneurial journey and how she honored her own needs as she built her businesses.–Please rate, review, and share the show with your friends!Find more information about Ruth Hescock LPC, Executive & Business Coach on innerinsightconsulting.comLearn more about Kristin Tand LPC on kristintand.comListen to Parts, Power & LeadershipFollow the show on Instagram @SituationshitPodFollow me @SoireesInTherapyIf you want to work with me, visit SoireesInTherapy.com/Book-Now to book a free 15 minute consultation.Tired of situationships? I'm so in love with fall. Let's FALL in love with ourselves this autumn (I know that was so corny). This episode, I want us to talk about embracing ourselves so we can escape the people pleasing trap. When you're feeling low, what do you reach for? Is it a favorite snack, rewatching that same tv show, or maybe some good old fashioned S-E-X?
