Welcome to Good Shift—our weekly series where I take one of my favorite entries from the Makes Sense Substack and bring it to life right here on the podcast. Today's Good Shift is about the Automatic Yes—and why learning to pause before you commit might be one of the most powerful ways to protect the life you're designing. Let's get into some Good Shift. How many times have you said “yes” before you ever stopped to ask whether you actually wanted to? Inspired by an August 26th entry from Jim Kwik's Limitless Daily, this episode explores the hidden cost of the automatic “yes”—and why every commitment misaligned with your goals, purpose, and future may actually be a “no” to the person you're becoming. We'll look at how people-pleasing, fear, habit, and conditioned reflexes can cause us to surrender our time, energy, attention, and carency before we've consciously decided where they belong. The Good Shift? You don't have to answer right away. This is where the power of “Hmmm” comes in. By creating space between the request and your response, you give yourself an opportunity to look at the decision Whole-O-Graphically. Does this choice nourish your terrain or plant another weed? Does it support the life you're designing, or quietly pull you away from it? Sometimes the most powerful “yes” you can give yourself is a well-placed “no.” In this episode, we explore how pausing before committing can help you reclaim your attention, protect your energy, consciously distribute your trust, and become the Architect of where your life goes next. Because your future isn't just shaped by what you choose to do. It's also shaped by what you finally give yourself permission to decline. Make sense? Is technology making you smarter, or are you slowly training your brain to do less? We are living in a world where AI can write our emails, answer our questions, organize our thoughts, remember information, and make decisions faster than we ever could on our own. Our phones remember everything for us. GPS tells us where to go. Social media constantly competes for our attention. And the more convenient technology becomes, the easier it is to stop exercising the memory, focus, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that make us human. This matters because your brain adapts to how you use it. You can deliberately train your focus, memory, confidence, adaptability, and ability to think for yourself. You can protect the first few minutes of your morning, stop giving away your attention, create friction before immediately turning to AI, and build mental strength the same way you build physical strength. The goal is to use technology as a tool while continuing to develop the human intelligence that allows you to make better decisions, solve harder problems, and adapt when the world changes. Jim Kwik is a brain performance expert, bestselling author, and leading voice on memory, focus, accelerated learning, and human intelligence. After experiencing a traumatic brain injury and learning challenges as a child, he dedicated his life to understanding how the brain learns and how people can improve their cognitive performance. His latest book, Limitless Daily, focuses on simple daily practices designed to strengthen your mind, improve performance, and help you make meaningful progress one day at a time. What's Discussed: (04:07) How relying on AI and technology to remember and think for us can weaken the cognitive skills we stop using. (06:42) Why AI is no longer the real competitive advantage and why human intelligence, judgment, creativity, and critical thinking matter more. (27:43) Why the first five minutes after waking can shape your focus, mood, and perspective for the rest of the day. (37:31) Why confidence comes after action and how doing difficult things creates evidence that you are capable. (41:47) How deliberately thinking before turning to AI can help strengthen cognitive flexibility and mental resilience. (55:44) How scrolling, bingeing, and getting rewarded before doing the work can reduce motivation and make follow-through harder. (59:28) How the questions you repeatedly ask yourself shape what your brain notices and reinforce the beliefs you already hold. (01:00:25) Why reading too slowly can make your mind wander and how increasing your pace can improve focus and comprehension. (01:13:43) How multitasking and constant task switching drain focus, increase mistakes, and waste mental energy. (01:19:29) Why remembering someone's name can strengthen relationships, improve likability, and even affect major business opportunities. Thank You to Our Sponsors! In this episode of the Kwik Brain podcast, I sit down with Hal Elrod, bestselling author of The Miracle Morning, to explore how your earliest mental inputs shape your focus, emotions, decisions, and performance throughout the day.We talk about sleep inertia, attentional priming, and why reaching for your phone first thing in the morning can train your brain to become distracted and reactive. I also share the ideas behind my new book, Limitless Daily, and how five intentional minutes each morning can help you strengthen your mind, build self-trust, and create meaningful change through small, consistent actions. We also explore what it means to protect your human intelligence in the age of AI, why cognitive offloading can weaken the mental abilities you stop using, and how to work with artificial intelligence without surrendering your own thinking. In this episode, you will learn:✅ Why the first few minutes after waking can shape your focus, feelings, and perspective✅ How sleep inertia makes your brain more impressionable in the morning✅ Why “mind before media” can protect your attention and emotional state✅ How attentional priming influences what your brain notices throughout the day✅ Why productivity begins with mind management, not just time management✅ How five minutes of daily learning can compound into meaningful transformation✅ Why small, simple steps help reduce procrastination and build momentum✅ How your daily actions create evidence for a stronger identity✅ Why reading remains one of the best exercises for your brain✅ How AI can lead to cognitive offloading and weaker critical-thinking skills✅ How to use the BUILD method before turning to artificial intelligence✅ Why human intelligence, adaptability, empathy, and meaning matter more than everAfter this episode, you'll stop giving the most important part of your morning to notifications, other people's priorities, and endless information. You'll start using those first few minutes to direct your attention, strengthen your thinking, and become more intentional about the person you are creating every day.

For over 30 years, Jim Kwik has coached Hollywood, professional athletes, political leaders, and Harvard University on how to learn faster and think sharper — and in this episode, he tackles the question sitting underneath so much of modern life: what happens to your mind muscle when every cognitive task gets handed off to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini? The good news: your brain, like your muscles, adapts to the demands placed upon it at any age or stage. Jim explains why frustration and failure aren't obstacles to brain training, shares his personal top ten list of brain-building habits, ranging from racket sports to language learning and volunteering. He also delves into an MIT study examining the impact of ChatGPT and introduces his own framework for using AI as a genuine cognitive partner, rather than a replacement for human brain power.
What happens to human intelligence in a world increasingly dominated by artificial intelligence? In this special conversation, Dr. JC Doornick sits down with world-renowned brain coach and bestselling author Jim Kwik to explore his new book, Limitless Daily, and why developing our own minds may be more important now than ever. As AI becomes faster, smarter, and more integrated into everyday life, Jim makes the case that Artificial Intelligence still depends on Human Intelligence—our ability to think critically, ask better questions, remain curious, learn faster, remember what matters, and consciously direct our attention. But becoming limitless isn't something you do once. It's something you practice daily. Jim shares the philosophy behind Limitless Daily, a book designed to give you a powerful lesson, insight, or mental reset every day of the year. Think of it as daily training for your brain—a way to intentionally win the morning before the world gets a chance to program your mind for you. JC also shares how reading Limitless Daily each morning became an unexpected companion during his cancer recovery, often delivering exactly the lesson, perspective, or question he needed that particular day. This conversation explores brain health, focus, memory, mindset, morning routines, lifelong learning, the relationship between AI and HI, and what it really means to become limitless—not by doing more, but by learning how to better use the most powerful technology you'll ever possess: Your own mind. If you've been wondering how to stay focused, capable, creative, and distinctly human in the age of AI, this conversation with Jim Kwik is one you won't want to miss. What if the hardest moments of your life aren't interruptions to the plan—but part of the blueprint? In this episode of Makes Sense with Dr. JC, we explore the difference between a life that simply happens to you and a life intentionally designed by you. Inspired by a recent conversation with Jack Daly and the philosophy behind his book Life by Design, Dr. JC challenges us to consider an uncomfortable question: Have you actually designed the life you're living, or have you mostly been reacting to the one you were handed? We often spend more time planning vacations, careers, and purchases than we do consciously designing our values, relationships, health, purpose, and legacy. But becoming the Architect of Your Life doesn't mean controlling everything that happens. It means deciding who you will become in response to what happens. Sometimes the greatest teachers arrive disguised as setbacks, adversity, trauma, loss, and even a life-changing diagnosis. These experiences can disrupt the life we planned while simultaneously revealing the life we actually want to live. They clarify what matters, expose what doesn't, and remind us just how precious our time really is. The Good Shift is recognizing that adversity doesn't always destroy the blueprint. Sometimes adversity gives you the blueprint. This episode invites you to reclaim the steering wheel, stop letting circumstances dictate your identity, and intentionally design the person you want to be and the life you want to live. Because if you don't consciously design your reality, there will always be people, circumstances, fears, and expectations willing to design it for you. It's time to look in the mirror, reclaim the keys of trust, and start living full out—not as the person the world expects you to be, but as the person you choose to become. Your brain is either getting stronger or getting weaker. There is no neutral, gentlemen. Today Jim Kwik breaks down why comfort, convenience, and cognitive offloading to AI are quietly making men mentally soft, and what it actually takes to build what he calls "cognitive reserve" which is the difference between a man who stays sharp, independent, and capable as he ages and one who doesn't. We get into why peace comes from capacity, not comfort, why self-trust is built by keeping promises to yourself instead of anybody else, and Jim's personal framework for using AI to sharpen your thinking instead of replacing it. If you feel like your focus is slipping, your discipline softening, or your identity too wrapped up in a job title that could be taken from you tomorrow, this episode might be the reset. For more than 30 years, Jim has served as the brain coach to professional athletes, political leaders, business magnates, and Hollywood icons, with corporate clients including Google, Nike, SpaceX, and Harvard. He hosts the Kwik Brain podcast with over 100 million downloads, reaches 200,000 people annually through live keynotes, and just wrapped his 14th annual Beyond Biohacking Conference with 5,000 attendees in Austin. Jim overcame a childhood brain injury that left him labeled "learning disabled," and turned that struggle into a mission he calls "no brain left behind." They break down the MIT study showing that people who use AI to write and think score worse on memory and comprehension than those who rely on their own brains, and why that matters for anyone serious about longevity, human performance, and anti-aging. Jim introduces the concept of digital dementia and cognitive sovereignty, explaining how nootropics, neuroplasticity, and functional medicine can support your biology while AI still requires you to keep your own hardware sharp. They cover the MEDS Rx framework for brain optimization: meditation, exercise, diet, sleep optimization, and relationships, plus why mitochondria, metabolism, and inflammation from processed food directly impact your cognitive output. Jim also shares how his own kids use AI as a tutor rather than a replacement for thinking, and why sleep inertia and the first few minutes after waking set the tone for your entire day. This is essential listening for anyone serious about biohacking, hacking their own brain, longevity, neuroplasticity, brain optimization, supplements, and building a Smarter Not Harder approach to human performance in the age of AI. You'll Learn: Why the MIT study found AI users had weaker memory and comprehension than people who did the work themselves What digital dementia and digital deduction are, and how they quietly erode your cognitive muscles How to use AI as an augmented intelligence partner instead of a replacement for critical thinking The MEDS Rx framework for brain optimization: meditation, exercise, diet, sleep, and relationships Why the first few minutes after waking determine your focus and mood for the entire day How spaced repetition and AI-assisted learning can lock in new skills and behavior change faster The HUMAN framework for staying irreplaceable in a world run by algorithms Thank you to our sponsors! - KILLSwitch | If you're ready for the best sleep of your life, order now at https://www.switchsupplements.com/and use code DAVE for 20% off - Neuronic | Go to www.neuronic.online Code DAVE for $100 off - Our Place | Upgrade your kitchen with Our Place today. Jim breaks down his LEAP method for learning faster in the age of AI, why human intelligence (not artificial intelligence) will decide who wins the next wealth gap, and the sleep inertia window quietly running your entire day before you even open your eyes. Everyone thinks their memory, focus, or intelligence is just who they are. Jim proves it's actually a skill, one you were never taught and can start training today. If you've ever been curious about the true limitless power of the mind, this episode delivers.

For years, Jim Kwik believed he had a "broken brain." That story eventually led him on a search to understand how the brain learns, remembers, focuses, and changes. Today, he is one of the world's leading experts on accelerated learning. In this conversation, Jim and Rory talk about the experiences that shaped his mission, the danger of letting our limitations become part of our identity, and why learning how to learn may be one of the most important skills we can develop. They also get into AI, cognitive offloading, morning routines, and Jim's belief that the rise of artificial intelligence may actually make our humanity more valuable.

In this episode of the Kwik Brain podcast, I break down the default mode network, the system your brain activates when you are no longer focused on a demanding task. I explain why zoning out is not always a bad thing, how this network helps retrieve memories and form new connections, and why your brain needs a balance between focus and unfocus to perform at its best. You'll learn:✅ Why sleep is not the only type of rest your brain needs✅ What the default mode network is and when it becomes active✅ How mind wandering helps your brain connect memories and ideas✅ Why unfocused time can improve creativity and self-awareness✅ How to use positive constructive daydreaming✅ Why free walking can improve fluency, flexibility, and original thinking✅ How an overactive default mode network can lead to rumination and anxiety✅ How meditation, deep breathing, and awe can quiet repetitive thought patterns✅ Why optimal brain performance requires both focus and unfocusAfter this episode, you will stop treating every quiet moment as wasted time and start building intentional mental downtime into your day, so your brain has the space to recover, connect ideas, and create better solutions.
What if everything you believe about why you are 'you' is wrong? My guest today has spent his career studying the brain at Johns Hopkins — and a few years ago, he was told he had six to twelve months to live. Today, we're talking about what he's learned on both sides of that line. We're going to get into why 'nature versus nurture' is, in his words, scientifically lazy — and what's actually shaping your personality, your preferences, even who you're attracted to. We're going to talk about a discovery about sexual sensation in the body that's only a few years old. And we're going to talk about what facing death taught him about time, gratitude, and identity that no textbook ever could. What if the most valuable asset in your portfolio isn't in your portfolio at all?In this episode of The Money Mondays, Dan Fleyshman sits down with brain coach and author Jim Kwik for a conversation about memory, focus and why human intelligence is becoming more valuable — not less — in a world running on AI.Jim was called "the boy with a broken brain" after a traumatic brain injury at age five. Thirty-five years later he has run trainings for Google, Nike, SpaceX, Facebook and the US Air Force, along with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. He explains why the faster you can learn the faster you can earn, how memory quietly drives sales, referrals and trust, and walks through his SUAVE method for remembering names — including the story of a real estate professional who lost a $50 million deal because he called his client the wrong name twice. The conversation then goes deep on artificial intelligence. Jim breaks down cognitive offloading, the "AI slop" filling the internet, and the MIT study that found students who leaned on AI to write essays remembered the least of what they produced. He shares his BUILD framework — brainstorm, understand, imagine, leverage, decide — for treating AI as a coach rather than a crutch, and makes the case for HI before AI.Dan and Jim also cover attentional priming and why the first ten minutes after you wake up shape the rest of your day, the brain foods worth adding to your diet, cognitive reserve and protecting your brain span as you age, the three C's Jim requires before he invests in anything, how to actually get paid to speak, and why giving back is built into every healthy ecosystem. This episode is about more than productivity. It is about protecting the one asset that every other asset depends on.Get Jim's new book, his 5 minute morning routine to win everyday at LimitlessDaily.com

My guest today spent two decades inside Scientology — fourteen of those years inside the Sea Organization, the most demanding, most secretive inner circle the church has. She interviewed John Travolta. She watched up close how power moved around Tom Cruise. And then one day, she walked away from all of it, with nothing, and had to figure out how to become a person again. Today she's turned that story into a TikTok series that's exploded — not just with ex-Scientologists, but with anyone who's ever had to leave a system that told them who to be. We're going to talk about what it's actually like inside the Sea Org, the moment she knew she had to leave, and what nobody tells you about starting over. Anne Gollert Hill, welcome. Your morning starts shaping your brain long before you answer your first email or take your first sip of coffee. In this episode of the Kwik Brain podcast, I walk you through the morning routine I use to support my brain's natural chemistry, boost mental energy, and create focus that lasts throughout the day. Most people think productivity begins when they sit down to work. But your brain is already deciding how alert, focused, and resilient you'll be based on what you do in the first 30 minutes after waking up.I break down the simple science behind hydration, sunlight, movement, breathwork, gratitude, journaling, visualization, and curiosity, and explain why each habit helps prepare your brain to learn faster, think more clearly, and perform at a higher level. You'll also learn how to direct your attention intentionally instead of letting distractions control your day. These aren't complicated routines that require hours. They're practical habits you can start using tomorrow morning to build momentum before the rest of the world demands your attention. In this episode, you'll learn:✅ Why your brain needs hydration immediately after waking up✅ How morning sunlight boosts alertness and improves sleep later that night✅ Why movement increases blood flow and primes your brain for learning✅ How journaling creates mental clarity and reduces overwhelm✅ Why gratitude rewires your brain for resilience and optimism✅ How curiosity activates your brain's learning centers✅ Why visualization helps your brain focus on what matters most✅ Simple breathing exercises to improve focus and calm your nervous system✅ How to create a morning routine that works with your brain instead of against itYour mornings don't have to feel rushed or reactive.A few intentional minutes can completely change how your brain performs for the rest of the day.
Your brain already ran its program this morning — before your feet hit the floor. That's not a metaphor. Neuroscience shows your brain boots up yesterday's emotional patterns automatically, the same way an AI model repeats whatever it was trained on. So here's the real question: who's writing the code today — you, or the world? In the next few minutes, I'm going to show you why a two-word gratitude practice is the single most powerful override for your morning routine — and why it's not sentimental; it's strategic. Makes sense? Good. Let's get into it. The first few minutes after you wake up are far more important than you even realize. Before your mind gets flooded with emails, notifications, news, and everyone else's priorities, there's a window that will influence your thoughts, emotions, and how you approach the rest of your day. Today, I'm joined by my good friend Jim Kwik, a world-renowned coach and expert in memory, learning, and cognitive performance. His first book, Limitless, transformed the way I think about my own brain and helped me improve my memory after the brain damage I suffered in my car accident. His upcoming book, Limitless Daily, gives you 366 simple lessons designed to help you train your brain and master your mind in just five minutes a day. In our conversation, Jim explains why you should put your "mind before media" and "intention before interruption" every morning, how small daily actions compound into extraordinary change, and why strengthening your human intelligence is more important than ever in the age of AI. He also shares practical strategies to improve your focus, protect your ability to think for yourself, and intentionally become the person that you aspire to be. AI can write the essay, calculate the answer, summarize the book, and solve the problem before you have really had to think. Jim Kwik's concern is not just cognitive offloading. It's cognitive surrender. After 34 years teaching people how to learn, remember, read, and focus, he believes the real risk of AI is that technology starts doing so much of the mental work that we stop building the abilities we need most. In this episode, Louisa sits down with Jim to unpack what happens when we outsource memory, judgment, creativity, and critical thinking. He explains why learning requires effort, why the brain follows a "use it or lose it" principle, and what research comparing students using ChatGPT, search engines, or no assistance suggests about cognitive engagement and recall. They also explore cognitive reserve, metacognition, attention, reading, sleep, and why doing difficult things may be one of the best ways to protect the brain. Jim also shares the brain injury that shaped his life, the period when severe sleep apnea left him sleeping around 90 minutes a night, and the habits he now uses to protect his cognition. You'll hear why he says "mind before media," why reading is exercise for the brain, and how to use AI as augmented intelligence without giving up your own. The goal isn't to reject technology. It's to stay the pilot of your brain, not the passenger.
What if the thing that finally stopped your addiction... wasn't willpower? Today I'm sitting down with Matt Grace — a man who went from Ritalin to crystal meth to arrests and overdoses, and is now, twenty years later, the guy that Manhattan's wealthiest families call when their kid is dying from the same thing he almost died from. He's about to tell you the one thing his own parents did that kept him sick for years — and why he says addiction never lies, but families do. This is not a sanitized recovery story. Stay with us. Most people think productivity comes down to discipline. But what if the real reason you are struggling to get things done is that you are using a strategy that doesn't match how your brain naturally works? In this episode of the Kwik Brain podcast, I break down how your dominant brain type can influence the way you focus, organize, create, collaborate, and perform at your best.Using the C.O.D.E. framework, I walk you through the four brain animals and share practical productivity strategies for each one. Whether you are a fast-moving Cheetah, an analytical Owl, a creative Dolphin, or an empathetic Elephant, you will learn how to work with your natural strengths instead of forcing yourself into a system that was never designed for you. After this episode, you will stop trying to force yourself into someone else's productivity system and start using strategies that actually fit the way your brain works. What's your Brain Type?
What if the hardest season of your life is actually building the strongest version of you? In this mashup episode, I'm bringing together some of the most powerful conversations I've had about adversity, resilience, purpose, and what it really takes to keep going when life hurts. I believe one of the greatest separators in life is the ability to play hurt. Anybody can perform when they feel great, when the momentum is there, and when everything is going their way. The real test is what you do when you're tired, disappointed, grieving, afraid, or unsure of yourself. Those are the moments that reveal who you are becoming. Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins shares how adversity became one of his greatest teachers and how going inward forced him to confront the parts of himself that success alone could never fix. Eric Thomas breaks down the level of work, discipline, and self-evaluation required if you truly want extraordinary results, and why sometimes the answer isn't simply working harder, but raising your systems, your standards, and your entire level of execution. James Lawrence gives one of the most powerful examples of the One More mindset when he explains why, after completing 100 brutal endurance challenges, he got back up and did 101. Not because he had anything left to prove, but because he wanted people to know that even when you feel completely broken, there is still one more inside you. Dean Graziosi and I talk about changing your relationship with fear, pain, and hard things. The people who win at the highest levels don't spend their lives searching for the easiest path. They train themselves to move toward the difficult things that other people avoid. Jim Kwik reminds us that attention is everything and that one of the fastest ways to grow is to learn with the intention of teaching, because when you teach something, you begin to own it at a completely different level. And Maria Shriver offers the other side of resilience that we don't talk about enough. She reminds us about the power of the pause, reflection, and understanding that a meaningful life is not only about doing more, but also knowing when to slow down long enough to understand who you are becoming. I want you to understand something about the pain you're going through right now. It does not have to be wasted. Your hardest season can become your greatest testimony, your deepest pain can become the thing that qualifies you to help somebody else, and your breaking point can become your building point. You don't have to have your A-game every day. You just have to stay available, stay in the fight, and keep moving. Sometimes winning looks like one more call, one more meeting, one more workout, one more prayer, or simply getting up one more time. Key Takeaways: Why the ability to “play hurt” separates extraordinary people from everyone else Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins on turning adversity into purpose and becoming more self-aware Eric Thomas on matching your expectations with the level of work and systems required to achieve them James Lawrence on why doing “one more” matters most when you feel completely depleted Dean Graziosi on training yourself to move toward fear, pain, and difficult challenges Jim Kwik on improving attention and why teaching what you learn helps you own it Maria Shriver on the power of pausing, reflecting, and finding richness beyond constant achievement Why your pain can become the very thing that prepares you for your next level Your hardest days are not disqualifying you. They may be preparing you. So when life knocks you down, don't automatically assume it's time to retreat. Sometimes that pain is your opportunity to discover a level of strength, faith, and resilience you never would have found any other way. Get up, stay available, and do one more.
"Imagine finishing your work week on Friday, flying to Nepal, summiting Mount Everest — and being back at your desk by the following Monday. Håkon and Hanne Hyttedalen are Norwegian consultants. They work full-time in corporate Oslo. And they have also won ultra trail races, run the UTMB around Mont Blanc, completed a 160-kilometer mountain race in a blizzard with a 77% DNF rate — and this May, they stood on the summit of the highest point on Earth. Together. As a married couple. Today we're getting into exactly how they do it — how they train two hours a day without burning out, what it feels like to nearly not make it off a mountain, and whether any of this is actually accessible to the rest of us. Most people think cognitive decline is something you deal with later. But what if the changes that affect your memory, focus, and brain health are already happening right now?In this episode of the Kwik Brain podcast, I sit down with neurophysiologist and NeuroAthletics founder Louisa Nicola to break down how you can future-proof your brain and protect your cognitive health long before symptoms ever appear. We talk about what actually happens in the brain as decline develops, why sleep is critical for clearing amyloid beta, and how your daily habits either support or accelerate brain aging over time.We also dive into why women are at higher risk for Alzheimer's, how exercise affects brain growth and blood flow, and why something as simple as building stronger legs may have a surprising impact on your brain. You'll learn: ✅ Why cognitive decline can begin decades before symptoms ✅ How sleep helps clear amyloid beta from the brain ✅ Why exercise supports memory, focus, and brain growth ✅ Why leg strength may be more important than you think ✅ How nutrition, hydration, and omega-3s support brain health ✅ Why alcohol and poor sleep disrupt cognitive function ✅ Why women face a higher risk of Alzheimer's ✅ How strong relationships help protect your brain over timeAfter this episode, you'll have a clearer understanding of the daily choices that influence how your brain ages and practical ways to start investing in your cognitive health now, so you can stay sharp, independent, and connected to who you are for years to come.
Ninety-two percent of people who set a goal this year will abandon it before spring. Not from lack of motivation — because they tried to change what they do without deciding who they are first. Today, Dr. JC breaks down the identity-first mindset: how your habits, your routines, even how you respond to a diagnosis, are votes for who you've already decided to become. By the end of this episode, you'll stop asking what you want — and start asking who you're becoming. ollow Dr. JC Doornick and the Makes Sense Academy:► Makes Sense Substack - https://drjcdoornick.substack.com ► Instagram: / drjcdoornick ► Substack: / drjcdoornick ►Facebook: / makessensepodcast ►YouTube: / drjcdoornick MAKES SENSE PODCAST Welcome to the Makes Sense with Dr. JC Doornick Podcast. In today's episode, I sit down with Marc Lore and Jim Kwik to talk about the mindset, leadership, and long-term thinking that drive lasting success. What if the thing standing between you and the life you were meant to live… isn't your circumstances, your resources, or your talent — but one invisible enemy inside your own mind? My guest today spent thirty years broke, overlooked, and grinding before the world ever heard his name. He drove trucks. He tended bars. He wrote scripts nobody bought. What would you do if you had lost everything — your home, your freedom, your will to live — and the only thing you had left was a decision? My guest today hit every one of those walls. He was homeless. He sat behind bars. He tried to end his life. And then — somehow — he went on to build an 800% sales turnaround at a dealership most people had written off, become a national speaker spotlighted on ABC, NBC, and CBS, and raise nine kids along the way. Today Glenn Lundy is going to tell us exactly what broke him, what rebuilt him, and the dead-simple morning practice he says anyone can use to stop surviving and start performing. Great Morning, Humans, Great Morning, World. I am Dr. JC Doornick, AKA the Dragon. Welcome to the Makes Sense Podcast, and welcome to the Uprising of the sleepwalking masses. Here's a bold statement: 99% of the emotional pain you feel today isn't happening to you — it's happening to a costume you're wearing. Napoleon Hill called it indifference. I call it the Unshakable Mindset. And today, I'm going to show you the exact four-step system I am using — right now, in real time — to stay architecturally sound while the world tries to shake me. If you've ever wondered how some people seem completely unbothered while everyone else is a puppet on a string... stay with me. This one might change how you respond to everything. What if the most transformative experiences of your life — crisis, loss, near-death — aren't things that happen TO you… But things that can permanently wake you UP? My guest today has spent two decades collecting the evidence. He's a psychology lecturer, a bestselling author in over 20 languages, and someone Eckhart Tolle called a vital voice for the shift in human consciousness. Today we're going into the psychology of awakening, why he believes the ego isn't your true self but an evolutionary accident — and why he thinks the Beatles were tapping into something most of us never access. Stay with me — this one will change how you see your own mind. By the end, you will have a clear set of decisions you can act on immediately to move your life in a better direction. In this episode, you will learn:✅ The four decisions that can change any area of your life✅ How doing slightly more of what works can create exponential growth✅ Why doing less can free up time, energy, and attention✅ How to start new habits using small, simple steps✅ Why stopping certain behaviors can be easier than trying to moderate them✅ How the 80/20 principle helps you identify what deserves more of your focus✅ Why knowledge only becomes powerful when you apply it✅ The hidden fifth choice you are already making every day✅ How to create a personal “more, less, start, stop, and continue” listIf you feel stuck, scattered, or ready for a reset, this episode will help you get clear on the decisions that matter most and start using them today.

What if the greatest upgrade you'll ever make isn't to your business or your body, but to your brain? In this mashup episode, I bring together some of the brightest minds in neuroscience, peak performance, and human potential to answer one of the most important questions you'll ever ask: how do you unlock the best version of yourself? So many people believe they're limited by talent, circumstances, or intelligence. The truth is that your brain is constantly changing, adapting, and responding to what you focus on every single day. When you learn how to direct your attention, strengthen your mindset, and intentionally train your mind, you begin changing your future long before your circumstances change. Jim Kwik joins me to break down how your brain filters the world and why your standards matter even more than your goals. We unpack the incredible power of your reticular activating system and how asking better questions literally changes what opportunities you begin to notice. Dr. Joe Dispenza explains how your personality creates your personal reality and why lasting transformation starts by rewiring the thoughts and beliefs you've been carrying for years. Together, we explore why your mind is far more powerful than you've ever been taught to believe. You'll also hear an incredible conversation with Dr. Amishi Jha about the science of attention and memory. She reveals why attention is the gateway to learning, performance, and lasting memories, and why the ability to stay present has become one of the greatest competitive advantages in today's distracted world. We dive into how every experience is shaping your brain, why focus strengthens memory, and how training your attention can improve every area of your life from business to relationships to personal fulfillment. Throughout this episode, I challenge you to stop believing that your current thinking has to become your permanent reality. The brain is designed to adapt. Your identity can expand. Your focus can improve. Your habits can change. When you begin controlling what you repeatedly think about and where you intentionally place your attention, you start creating a completely different future. Your greatest asset has always been sitting between your ears. The question is whether you're training it with the same intensity you train everything else. Key Takeaways: Why your attention determines the quality of your life and your future Jim Kwik's explanation of how your brain filters opportunities through the reticular activating system Why your standards shape your results more than your goals Dr. Joe Dispenza's insight that your personality becomes your personal reality How changing your thinking creates lasting personal transformation Dr. Amishi Jha's explanation of why attention is the gateway to memory and learning How being more present improves performance, relationships, and decision making Practical ways to retrain your brain to create greater focus, confidence, and success Your brain is the most valuable asset you'll ever own, but most people spend more time upgrading their phone than upgrading the way they think. If you're ready to become more focused, more intentional, and more capable than you've ever been before, this episode will give you the tools to start transforming your life from the inside out.
