Irving Finkel is a scholar of ancient languages and a longtime curator at the British Museum, renowned for his expertise in Mesopotamian history and cuneiform writing. He specializes in reading and interpreting cuneiform inscriptions, including tablets from Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, and Assyrian contexts. He became widely known for studying a tablet with a Mesopotamian flood story that predates the biblical Noah narrative, which he presented in his book “The Ark Before Noah” and in a documentary that involved building a circular ark based on the tablet’s technical instructions. A week after we praised Ohio State for being Ohio State in The Game, the Buckeyes decided to play very unlike themselves in a 13-10 Big Ten championship game loss to Indiana. The defense did well to hold the Hoosiers' high-powered offense to 13 points despite Kenyatta Jackson being tackled seemingly on every play, but the OSU offense didn't do normal things in the red zone, or even things that had been successful there more often than not. There were no C.J. Donaldson runs, no Lincoln Kienholz package, and no quick passes to take advantage of perimeter matchups. Instead, we got slow-developing routes out of heavy tight end packages, one lousy Bo Jackson rush attempt, a missed field goal, and an unfortunate slip on what otherwise would have been a first-and-goal. We got an attempted fourth-down conversion at a time the Buckeyes should have kicked and a shanked kick when the Buckeyes probably should have gone for it.We break down a frustratingly preventable loss, check back on our picks to click, and review our score predictions to see how close we came (we did not come close).  It was the end of a week full of distractions, and we'll never know if they did or did not affect the team on Saturday, but after a brief detour to figure out who came the closest to predicting the final Big Ten standings, we followed our game breakdown by discussing Brian Hartline's impending departure to the University of South Florida. We also touched on some of the coaching changes and the Penn State situation. Although we're not recruiting guys, we also touched on some of the distracting National Signing Day activities that may or may not have also given the offensive coaches less time than they would have liked to work on some of the Indiana game details. Finally, we talked about Ohio State's bowl destination to kick off the team's 2025 College Football Playoff run. The Buckeyes are going back to the Cotton Bowl, where they'll have a difficult first opponent, taking on the winner of Texas A&M and Miami. Both teams present challenges, and the reward for getting past the winner of that game will most likely be Georgia. We'll have more on the next Ohio State game when an opponent emerges. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show. Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod.As always, thanks for listening! 0:20 - Jayden Fielding gave Ohio State fans another missed field goal to discuss, but it shouldn't have come down to what would only have been a game-tying kick. Our B1G title game breakdown. 30:46 - Deciphering our Big Ten finishing predictions, the Penn State situation, Hartline to USF, and National Signing Day drama.  54:04 - The College Football Playoff bracket is difficult for Ohio State but it could have been worse.

This week on Slappin' Glass, we're joined by data scientist and creator of the rapidly growing college basketball analytics platform EvanMiya.com, Evan Miyakawa. Evan's work has become a trusted resource for coaches at every level—particularly those looking to cut through the noise of early-season statistics and understand which metrics actually matter. In this conversation, Evan shares how coaches can separate interesting numbers from useful ones, why certain teams have unique statistical fingerprints that predict success, and how lineup data can be leveraged far more effectively than most programs currently use it. We also unpack defensive priority stats (threes, rim, free throws), halftime box score interpretation, and the origins of Evan's “kill shot” metric—his way of measuring and predicting momentum swings across a season.Whether you're analytics-comfortable or analytically curious, Evan offers a clear, practical roadmap for applying data without drowning in it. What You'll Learn1. How to Separate Useful Analytics from Interesting NoiseEvan explains why the highest-value decisions come from combining your coaching intuition with clean, adjusted data—not relying fully on either side. He details how to weigh early-season sample sizes, refine priors, and avoid overreacting to statistical outliers. 2. Identifying the 2–3 Metrics That Predict Your Team's SuccessTeams often win and lose in repeatable ways. Evan breaks down how programs can identify their own “keys to victory,” giving coaches clarity on what to prioritize in practice, scouting, and game planning. 3. Making Better Lineup Decisions (and Avoiding the Small-Sample Trap)Learn why 30 possessions can reveal a spark worth exploring, why 100+ possessions create real confidence, and how lineup data—properly adjusted for opponent strength—helps avoid misleading results. 4. How to Read a Halftime Box Score with Meaningful PurposeEvan shows which stat pairings matter most and how to judge whether a discrepancy is signaling a real problem or simply reflecting tempo and game context. 5. Prioritizing Defensive Outcomes: Threes, Rim, Free ThrowsA clear breakdown of how these three areas interact, and why understanding your opponent's tendencies can simplify what your defense should take away. 6. The “Kill Shot”: Understanding and Predicting Momentum RunsEvan's 10–0 run metric reveals why preventing opponent runs is more predictive of elite performance than generating them—and why the duration of a run often tells the real story.7. Coaching the Moments Around RunsFrom smart timeout usage to identifying schematic breakdowns, you'll learn how to stop a slide early or create momentum without burning resources unnecessarily. To join coaches and championship winning staffs from the NBA to High School from over 60 different countries taking advantage of an SG Plus membership, visit HERE!

In this week's episode of The Energy Code, Dr. Mike Belkowski is joined by BioLight CMO Don Bailey, who takes over the mic to ask Dr. Mike the questions you've always wanted answered about one of the most foundational — yet misunderstood — pillars of health: redox potential.   What exactly is redox potential, and how does it impact your energy, aging, and healing? Dr. Mike breaks down how the modern world drains your body of electrons — and what you can do to recharge. From oxidative stress to grounding, water quality to quantum tunneling, this conversation connects the dots between light, electricity, and vitality at a cellular level.   Expect a powerful exploration of how redox balance determines everything from mitochondrial function to mood, recovery, and longevity — and practical tools to raise your “internal charge.” Key Topics Covered   Redox Potential 101 – What it means, how it's measured in millivolts, and why “more negative” means better health. Oxidation vs. Reduction – How too much oxidation leads to stress and disease, and how balance is key to healing. Modern Electron Deficiency – The surprising ways EMFs, processed food, poor water, and even emotions strip electrons. The Mitochondrial Connection – Why improving redox potential automatically enhances energy production and longevity. Breathing, Stress & Redox – How proper breathing, meditation, and HRV impact your cellular charge. Antioxidants & Electrons – Why 90%+ of your antioxidant power comes from your body — not your diet. Quantum Biology & Energy Medicine – Exploring the quantum spin and tunneling that link methylene blue and mitochondrial repair. Everyday Upgrades – Simple habits to raise your redox potential: grounding, sunlight, hydration, and better sleep. Key Quotes   Dr. Mike Belkowski:   “Anything that's inherently bad for your health is lowering your redox potential. Anything that's health-promoting is giving you electrons and raising it.” “Low redox potential means low healing capacity. High redox potential means vitality.” “Modern living steals electrons — from EMFs to stress to poor water. If you don't replace them, you're running on empty.”   Don Bailey:   “It's fascinating how our technological advancements have divorced us from nature — and now we're forced to supplement what our ancestors got for free.” Episode Timeline 00:00 – Intro: Why modern living depletes your electrons 02:00 – What redox potential actually means 06:00 – Oxidation, reduction, and balance in the body 12:00 – How excess free radicals and EMFs steal your health 17:00 – Antioxidants, glutathione, and your body's self-defense system 19:00 – Reading from The Mitochondria Manifesto: “Modern Living Steals Electrons” 26:00 – How modern tech separates us from nature 33:00 – Redox potential and disease prevention 36:00 – Aging, telomeres, and oxidative breakdown 38:00 – The redox-mitochondria connection 41:00 – Can we measure redox potential? 43:00 – How breathing and meditation improve redox 46:00 – Redox and quantum biology 49:00 – Rapid fire Q&A: fatigue, brain fog, mood, and stress 55:00 – Simple hacks to raise redox potential today 57:00 – Closing: Could mastering redox be the real Fountain of Youth? In this episode, we'll dig into tools, strategies and insights that help us move from reactive treatment to proactive partnerships. The goal is for kids to focus less on their breathing and more on being kids. For this episode, we are joined by two asthma experts, Monica Federico, MD, and Heather De Keyser, MD. Dr. Federico is the Medical Director of the Asthma Program, as well as Population Health, at Children's Hospital Colorado. She is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. De Keyser is the Co-Director of the Multidisciplinary Asthma Clinic and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. Some highlights from this episode include:  Understanding the best options for treatment  Deciphering between asthma and other respiratory diagnoses  The latest updates in asthma guidelines  The importance of collaborating with schools on a child's action plan  Some resources mentioned in today's episode include guidelines for the management and diagnosis of asthma, as well as information from the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA). BioOsteosarcoma Webinar Series: Brian Ladle, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Oncology and Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, joins us on OsteoBites to discuss deciphering the impact of STING agonists on the tumor microenvironment in osteosarcoma. We have learned that more engagement of the immune system and osteosarcoma results in better outcomes - even when patients are given standard chemotherapy. We have found that drugs that activate the STING pathway in osteosarcoma tumors result in greater immune cell invasion into the tumors. This corresponds with improved outcomes when combined with chemotherapy and other immunotherapies. Dr. Ladle will discuss these findings and what steps we are taking to bring this closer to clinical trials for osteosarcoma patients.Dr. Brian Ladle is a pediatric oncologist, sarcoma specialist, and immunotherapy researcher at Johns Hopkins University. His research centers around the goal of generating potent immune responses against pediatric sarcoma tumors - especially osteosarcoma. Ongoing projects encompass preclinical work using osteosarcoma mouse models and osteosarcoma clinical trials in both dogs and humans. He really believes immunotherapy approaches can be effective against osteosarcoma and will become a key piece to "Make It Better" for osteosarcoma patients.

What if shrewdness, often viewed with skepticism, holds the key to unlocking deeper spiritual truths? Join Pastor Steve Gray and Kathy as they challenge common perceptions surrounding the enigmatic parable of the shrewd manager from Luke 16. This curious tale, where a manager is applauded for his clever, albeit seemingly dishonest, tactics, often leaves believers and pastors puzzled. Together, we peel back the layers of this parable, exploring its cultural and historical contexts to illuminate the profound lessons Jesus intended for his followers. Dive into our discussion where we dissect the actions of the crafty manager who secures his future by reducing debts at his own expense. This episode shines a light on the contrasting paths of "the people of this world" and "the people of the light," raising questions about morality and the strategic use of resources. How does Jesus' message invite us to rethink our stewardship of worldly wealth to foster relationships and advance the kingdom? We delve into these themes, offering a fresh perspective that urges believers to harness spiritual awareness for a prosperous future.Key Takeaways:The parable of the shrewd manager is not about endorsing dishonesty but emphasizes the importance of being proactive and smart in managing resources and opportunities.Steve Gray explains that the people of the world often exhibit more shrewdness than the people of light, prompting a call for Christians to be more strategic and thoughtful in their spiritual and daily lives.Audience members are encouraged to consider their spiritual resources and how they may be inadvertently squandering them without realizing the potential for enriching their present and future. The discussion highlights the need for believers to move beyond complacency, taking definitive action rather than remaining passive in their faith journey.Steve underscores that genuine transformation requires leveraging one's resources effectively, both for immediate benefit and for future spiritual and eternal gains.

Dr. Shannon Manning is a Michigan State University (MSU) Foundation Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. The goal of Shannon's research is to understand how pathogens (bacteria or viruses) cause disease in people. How likely a person is to get sick may be due to the different types of pathogens they are exposed to, but also genetic variation within a specific type of pathogen. Not every bacteria of a particular species is exactly identical, and some are more effective at attaching to targets and infecting hosts. When she's not working in the lab, Shannon loves spending time with her family. On the weekends, Shannon can often be found at soccer games, swim meets, and other activities cheering on her four kids. Gardening is also one of her favorite hobbies, and she has been cultivating a wonderful assortment of flowers. She earned her B.S. in biology from the University of Michigan, her M.P.H. in Hospital and Molecular Epidemiology, and her Ph.D. in Molecular Epidemiology from the University of Michigan. Afterwards, Shannon was awarded an Emerging Infectious Disease Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Shannon is with us today to tell us all about her journey through life and science.
