Send us Fan MailOne crash can erase months of planning, and Stage 15 of the Tour de France proves it. We walk through a mountain day that feels unreal on speed alone, then gets even more intense with a major shake-up in the overall standings. Remco Evenepoel lands a huge stage victory on a brutal summit finish, and suddenly the race feels less predictable than it did 24 hours earlier. We also wrestle with the hardest part of pro cycling to watch: Jonas Vingegaard goes down, suffers a fractured clavicle, and has to abandon. From there we unpack the tactical questions that stick in your brain as a fan. Why was his team driving the pace for kilometers? What was the plan supposed to be, and how does a single mistake on a corner change what “second place” even means going forward? Then we pivot to two controversies that spark real debate among cycling fans. First: overnight anti-doping controls, including wake-ups at 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. We support clean racing, but we ask whether the timing is fair before the hardest stages in the sport. Second: Tom Pidcock's penalty for illegal assistance, what the UCI rule actually says, and how a 20-second time hit and other sanctions can ripple through a rider's goals. We close by looking ahead to the rest day and the stage 16 individual time trial, then shift gears to RAGBRAI updates where heat, crowded roads, and emergency vehicles make one thing crystal clear: communication saves people. Subscribe for daily Tour coverage, share this with a cycling friend, and leave a review. What's your take on the 2 a.m. testing and the stage 15 turning point? Send us Fan MailRain turns a mountain stage into a pressure test, and Stage 14 of the Tour de France makes that painfully clear. We jump from a few real-life road problems of our own (including a theme song blunder we have to own) straight into a day of relentless climbing, aggressive racing, and descents that look terrifying even from the couch. We break down the Stage 14 route and why the raw numbers matter: 153.3 km, roughly 3,800 meters of elevation, and four categorized climbs that never let riders settle. Then we get into the story everyone's talking about, Tadej Pogacar's latest statement ride in yellow. We explain how UAE Team Emirates keeps control, why the attack timing is so devastating on steep gradients, and what it signals for the general classification. We also hit the key supporting results, Del Toro right there again, plus 19-year-old Paul Seixas lighting it up and taking the white jersey. The most intense segment is the weather. We talk wet tarmac, team radio warnings, and the split-second decision-making behind high-speed hairpins when traction is limited and mistakes multiply. After that, we look ahead to Stage 15 with a summit finish and discuss who still has a real window to take time back, even if the overall win is starting to feel out of reach. We wrap with a community check-in on RAGBRAI 53 as Iowa heats up, including hydration and safety tips and our plan to try getting updates from the road. If you enjoyed the breakdown, subscribe, share this with a riding buddy, and leave a quick review. Send us Fan MailTwo minutes and 42 seconds can feel like a wall, right up until the Tour de France reminds you it's paper thin. We take the Tour de France 2026 rest day to reset the race: where the general classification stands, how the first nine stages actually played out, and why the yellow jersey fight between Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard still has plenty of room to turn. We walk through the opening stretch from the Barcelona start, including the early time trial impact, the first real mountain separation, and how brutal heat has already shaped tactics, recovery, and even stage design. Then we dig into the practical question every fan is asking: what does it really take to find 2:42 in the mountains, and how quickly can that gap disappear without any “catastrophe”? Along the way, we check in on the other Tour de France classifications, including the green jersey points race, the polka dot climbing competition, and the white jersey battle that's tighter than it looks on paper. We also preview Stage 10 on Bastille Day, when French riders traditionally go hunting for the breakaway and the whole peloton races with a little extra emotion. Expect Tour lore, a few fun local details, and what we're watching for as the race ramps back up. Plus: community messages, a RAGBRAI meetup invite, and a ridiculous donut-fueled racing debate that somehow belongs in a cycling podcast. Send us Fan MailA guy rode past us during a bike event while listening to our podcast at the exact same moment. That's the kind of sentence we would have laughed at when we first hit record, and it's the perfect way to frame our 100th episode milestone. We start with classic Cycling Men of Leisure catch-up: work trips that turn into mini road adventures, the beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and why moving too fast makes you miss the weird, wonderful “true America” you only find when you take the long way. Then we debut a brand-new Listener Spotlight jingle, share the fan mail that demanded it, and break down a Spotlight built around Omaha, Nebraska. From there, things get even better: Miya Sharp joins us as a surprise guest interviewer and asks the questions we didn't script, including why we started the podcast, how the original vision evolved beyond cycling, and the exact BRAG and RAGBRAI moments when strangers called us “the life of leisure” and the name finally stuck. We also get into our favorite episodes, the speakeasy tradition, the biggest travel disaster, and the one word we want the show to be known for: honest. We close by looking ahead with Tour de France energy and cycling headlines, including youth development investment (Zwift, Canyon, and Pedal Mafia) and a nod to progress in women's professional cycling. Lael Wilcox, ultra cycling endurance athlete, is on the Just Go Bike podcast today! Lael chats with Murph about her latest quest, to pedal around the world and not only break the women's record, but break the men's record as well. That's over 18,000 miles!! She rode her bike around the world in 2024 and holds the women's record, averaging 170 miles of pedaling each day. This time she is shooting for over 230 miles of pedaling per day, for 78 days! She has been endurance cycling for awhile, she won the Trans Am Bike Race back in 2016, biking across the US in just 18 days, and has done a bunch of other epic adventures too like Tour Divide, Baja Divide and a bike packing race in Switzerland. In addition to racing, she dedicates time organizing kids mentorship programs and encouraging more women to ride, with scholarships and bike packing rallies. Lael hopes to ride RAGBRAI with all of us some year. Lael is sponsored by Quad Lock, who is also a RAGBRAI sponsor this year!
