Niek Goedvolk bespreekt dit moment in een nieuwe aflevering van In Het Wiel met Roxane Knetemann en wielerverslaggever Marijn Abbenhuijs. Extra pijnlijk was dat het kwam doordat een motor als eerste deze weg insloeg. Volgens Rox is het geen toeval dat dit juist in Italië weer gebeurt, want haar ervaring is dat de organisatie in dit land wel vaker te wensen over laat. Ook Marijn heeft zich al livebloggend flink zitten opwinden. Gelukkig maakte de heerlijke finale bij de vrouwen een hoop goed, want later in de middag moesten we het weer doen met een 78 kilometer lange solo van veelvraat Tadej Pogacar. Eigenlijk hadden we deze podcast moeten beginnen met de bekendste tune van de Lage Landen: "Ro-da-ni-aaaaaa! Tut-tut-tut-tuuuuut!", het deuntje waarmee de komst van het wielerpeloton wordt aangekondigd. Want in het eerste weekend van maart is niet alleen de MotoGP en de motorcross opnieuw van start gegaan, met de Omloop Het Nieuwsblad en Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne zijn ook de eerste wielerklassiekers in Vlaanderen gereden. Steevast van de partij: Kim Tiebergyn, als motorrijder.  Opgegroeid in een wielergekke familie werd Kim al snel een van de vaste motorrijders in de koers. Eerst als motard van de bekende Gentse wielerfotograaf Tim De Waele, intussen als motorrijder voor de televisie. Kim rijdt minstens honderd koersdagen per jaar en zit dus altijd en overal op de eerste rij als Pogacar of Van der Poel een aanval plaatsen. Motorrijden in de koers is echter zo veel meer dan 'gewoon' op de eerste rij zitten. Het is stuurmanskunst, de koers aanvoelen, samenwerken met je cameraman en zes uur aan een stuk in bijzonder complexe omstandigheden op en top gefocust zijn. Kim onderhoudt ons vijftig minuten met de sappigste verhalen uit de koers en mag afrondend ook een motor kiezen uit alle machines die we in de Motorrijder van maart getest hebben. Om te voorkomen dat Stefaan er helemaal voor spek en Tom Boonen bij zit laat hij zijn licht schijnen op de lastige start van de Yamaha's in de MotoGP en de bizarre lekke band van Marc Márquez. Want lekke banden, die komen zowel in de racerij als de wielersport voor. Vijftig minuten informatie en veel lol dankzij de steun van Richa, Shoei, Michelin, Yamaha, Triumph Motorcycles, BMW Motorrad, SoloMoto motorverzekeringen en Pirelli.

A nőknél pedig három különböző tippet is bemondunk, de abban egyetértés volt, hogy a rajtlista ott talán még extrább. Vingegaard pedig a Párizs-Nizzán versenyez a hétvégén, de nem mindannyian várunk tőle győzelmet - ez is szóba jött.

Continental er det mest vindende dæk i WorldTour-feltet, fra Tadej Pogačar i regnbuetrøjen til Paul Seixas og Tobias Lund på Decathlon. Sikkerhed starter med dækket - både på motorvejen og cykelstien.  Foråret banker på døren. In de Omloop zagen we weer een ‘MvdP-masterclass' en in Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne trakteerden de renners ons op een open, attractieve koers. We nemen het Openingsweekend nog eens door en bespreken waarom Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe dit openingsweekend wel sterk uit de startblokken kwam, wat er misging bij Lidl-Trek en waarom koersen er op TV vaak makkelijker uitziet dan het daadwerkelijk is. Omdat het seizoen nu echt los is, is het ook tijd om de balans op te maken in de eerste WorldTour Power Rankings van dit seizoen, waarin wij de verschillende teams langs onze eigen meetlat leggen. Tot slot is er natuurlijk ruim aandacht voor Strade Bianche, waarin Pogacar misschien wel het meest te vrezen heeft van zijn eigen teamgenoot - en de rest van de nieuwe garde - die er alles aan gaan doen om hem te bedreigen in deze bijna monumentale wedstrijd.
