The start of a new month means the start of a new theme for MMP. Departing from some of their favorite stories read during the summer, the hosts are going to talk about some truly cringeworthy comics! Up first is The Amazing Spider-Man - Sins Past by J. Michael Straczynski. In a story arc that can best be described as needlessly dramatic and shocking, these issues deserve their status as cringe-worthy due to the wild take on Spiderman and Gwen Stacy. In an inexplicable twist of past events, Gwen Stacy is somehow seduced by the Green Goblin, Norman Osborn. Now, in the present, Peter finds himself hunted down by Gwen and Norman's kids. Does Mary Jane have what it takes to be a star actress? Will Peter ever forgive Gwen for her infidelity? Find the answers to these questions, and maybe learn more about a comic that tries too hard to be edgy, in this week's episode!

Hot on the heels of Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent vacating their homes, Diana Prince dying and most of the Green Lantern Corps losing their powers. What's DC Comics angle here? (00:34:57) Shang Chi was expected to have the lowest opening weekend in MCU history just a week ago. It ended up breaking every major Labor Day weekend box office record. (01:16:50) DC Comics and Webtoon launched their first joint series, Batman: Wayne Family Adventures this week. As well as a host of other events to celebrate Batman Day 2021. (01:47:08) Marvel Comics relaunched their Marvel Unlimited digital comics app this week along with a new line of webcomics, Marvel Infinity. Rumors started last year that DC Comics are readying their next crisis event in 2022. (01:57:02) In this weeks Infinite Frontier finale it looks like they laid the foundation to reset the DC Comics universe….again. (02:08:57) Mirage Studios sold Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Viacom/Nickelodeon in 2009, but maintained a presence selling merchandise. This week, 37 years after publishing their first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic they officially shut down. It’s our milestone 30th episode, and unfortunately we won’t be able to rip this one off like a bandaid. Sins Past has been hailed as one of the worst Spider-Man stories in recent memory, maybe even of all time, and has become the butt of thousands and thousands of jokes (half of which are told by Brian). So, because we’re gluttons for punishment, we thought we’d revisit this story and see just how it could’ve ever happened to begin with. Tune in as hosts Brian and Alec discuss recent Spidey news, as well as the infamous Sins Past storyline!

This week Nik and Bruno take a very necessary intermission from the Saga of the Stacy Twins to bring you the story that author J Michael Strascynski swears up and down was supposed to undo the events of the Sins Past storyline, thereby aborting the Sarah and Gabriel from Spider-Man continuity. Instead, it only retconned Peter Parker and Mary Jane's marriage out of existence, made the literal freakin' devil into one of Spider-Man's most devastating foes, and brought Harry Osborn back from the dead.  You know -- small potatoes.  So get ready to dive into those back issue bins for this senses-shattering c-c-c-CROSSOVER event that spanned all three Spider-Man titles across four of the most controversial issues Marvel has ever published: Amazing Spider-Man #544-545, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #24, and Sensational Spider-Man (vol. 2) #41. We're talking Samm Barnes' and Scott Eaton's Sins Remembered: Sarah's story, which was originally published as Spectacular Spider-Man (vol. 2) #'s 23-26, and was coincidentally one of the last stories published before that title was abruptly canceled.
