About 2,680 people with developmental disabilities died under the care of the state of Missouri — on average, one person every day between 2017 through 2023. Reporter Will Skipworth's new investigation from the River City Journalism Fund dives into that system and its flaws. Skipworth shares his findings from his investigation into why disabled people keep dying, why reports of abuse and neglect continue to be ignored, and what can be done to prevent further harm to the state's most vulnerable people.

How did Wingstop fix its cost problem? This week's episode of the Restaurant Business podcast A Deeper Dive features Michael Skipworth, the chicken chain's CEO. Wingstop is hitting on all cylinders right now, thanks to the popularity of chicken wings and takeout but also because of its new line of chicken sandwiches, which have helped lure new customers in during different times of day. But it has also helped the chain with food costs. Chicken wings are the most volatile commodity, certainly among proteins. One year they could hit record prices and the next year they come down considerably. It has given plenty of executives massive headaches trying to deal with them. But Wingstop's move into boneless options, like the chicken sandwich, has helped change things. Skipworth talks all about it. He also discusses technology, delivery and Wingstop's plan to build its own tech stack and reach its goal of 100% digital transactions. We're talking chicken on A Deeper Dive, so please check it out.

We call it the Niner Care Package.""It's an assortment of items that we ordered through Club Colors. They love them. Jay Skipworth is a film-wrecking machine, always finding the kinds of entertainment that are dense yet so hard to pin down exactly why they play so well with some audiences. This second time guest-starring, he helps me determine what appeals and eventually undermines the once-winning formulas of these two initial signature buddy film franchises. Does the 48 Hrs. sequel merit a rewatch (if not a Blu Ray buy)? Why is the RPG scene in Beverly Hills Cop II so often imitated in all kinds of later genre films? Would Miami Vice be the same without either film franchise's prior existence? Why is the third BHC still so annoying to watch nowadays? Why are these winning formulas for Eddie and all the key filmmakers (besides it launching the first part of their '80s careers)? With all the kinds of streaming and home media options available now, should there be a streaming site solely dedicated to Action classics? And more intense yet laughter-driven takes on Eddie's crowdpleasing franchises! In the late 60s and early 70s, outlaw motorcycle gangs were at their peak. This was especially true in Cincinnati, which became a hub of sorts. Skip Skipworth, newly appointed to a church in the area, found this out the hard way—with a black eye and bruised body. But this young pastor didn't give up on reaching the unreachable. His story is one of aggressive living that changed lives, including his own.
