News around the NFL never sleeps and that's why you enter the limits of Scoop City! The Athletic's Senior NFL Insider, Dianna Russini, shares the latest information from the contract discussions between star defensive end Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals. On Monday morning, Hendrickson and his camp released a statement to ESPN saying in part, "No communication has taken place between my camp and the organization post draft." Dianna reports that the Bengals feel like things have moved in a positive direction and there's still hope to agree with Hendrickson on a new contract.Elsewhere around the league, over the weekend, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr abruptly retired. Carr cited a degenerative change in an injury to his rotator cuff. Earlier this offseason, it was reported that Carr was considering undergoing surgery that would require him to miss the 2025 season. Carr gives up a $30 million fully-guaranteed base salary, but will keep the $10 million roster bonus he earned in March. It was also reported that the Saints will not seek to recover any of the $28.5 million signing bonus he made in 2023. Former Saints QB Chase Daniel reacts to Carr's retirement and discusses his career. And, our first game of the 2025 NFL schedule was released. In game one of the 2025 season, the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys. Dianna and Chase react to the news. On the field, teams met for rookie minicamp over the weekend. Dillon Gabriel started minicamp by taking first-team reps, but Shedeur Sanders also took his turn with the first team. Plus, Dianna and Chase discuss the viral moment with Jacksonville Jaguars first-round draft pick Travis Hunter. Jon didn't love the immediate Derrick Harmon comp to Cam Heyward, but he really likes the pick. He said Harmon has a very high floor who will be a borderline elite one in this draft. The guys asked Jon how early Harmon can fit into this defense from the jump. Jon said he would have taken Matthew Golden if Harmon was unavailable at 21 and he didn't have the option to trade down. Jon applauded the Steelers for not jumping on a QB that didn't warrant a 1st round pick last night like the mistake they made a few years ago. Jon described this draft as a ‘dart throw quarterback class' because it lacks strength behind the top guy. Jon doesn't think the Steelers get more than a 3rd round pick for George Pickens, unless a team is very dumb or desperate. Jon's guess for the next two picks are RB and QB, but not necessarily in that order.

[03:45] DIANNA RUSSINI JOINS THE SHOWMultiple teams have reportedly reached out to the Bengals to inquire about trading for wide receiver Tee Higgins. Cincinnati has remained firm in their stance on Higgins, but with trade interest growing, will they eventually make a move? Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has reportedly requested a trade, with the team setting a high asking price of a first- and third-round pick. With rumors swirling about a potential trade involving Joey Bosa, what kind of market does the star pass rusher have? [15:24] DOES SGA HAVE THE MVP LOCKED UP?Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been on an absolute tear, setting a record for the fewest games between his first and fourth 50-point performances with just 19. His scoring dominance has propelled the Oklahoma City Thunder to a Western Conference-best 50-11 record, making him the clear frontrunner for MVP. He currently leads the league in both points per game (32.6) and total points (1,957). Reports suggest that Flagg could consider withdrawing from the 2025 NBA Draft if he is unhappy with the team that lands the No. 1 overall pick. With his NIL deals already totaling $4.8 million, making him the highest-paid college player, does he actually have a reason to stay at Duke for another year? [37:25] JASON KIDD ON KYRIE IRVING'S INJURYKyrie Irving was playing heavy minutes in the weeks leading up to his injury, averaging 39.3 per game—more than any other player in that span. After Irving went down, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd pushed back against any criticism regarding the team's handling of his workload, calling the injury a "freak accident." Is Kidd right to dismiss concerns about overuse, or is this a sign that the Mavericks are mismanaging their stars? With Irving sidelined, how much trouble is Dallas in for the rest of the season?
