This conversation with Holistic/Functional Registered Dietitian Traci Komorek will inform, inspire, and entertain as we discuss nutritional health. She is passionate about helping her patients find their best health. About Traci"I started my career at Concord Hospital. I soon discovered my passion was in preventative health. I saw too many times the negative consequences of the restrictive food/shake industry and wanted to create a space where I had time with my patients, to listen and use food as medicine. With our busy schedules and specialized healthcare model, I felt a need to create a practice where we look at health and wellness in a more holistic way. Especially in the areas of GI health, patients were continually coming to me with debilitating symptoms they had been dealing with for years with no answers. I have specialized in gut health to give my patients the answers with functional testing and results they are looking for. I created Fresh Roots also to have the balance to raise my family and have the career I wanted. I love to shop at farmers markets and local farms. You will see me out swimming a lake, biking the road, hiking a mountain, or skiing the local Nordic trails all season long with my family."You can find Traci on her website, on Facebook, and Instagram. If your nutritional health challenges you, reach out to a professional. Our mind and body are connected, and physical health is directed and related to our overall well-being and mental health.Thank you for being here today! Please share this episode with others. I also love your comments and 5-star reviews!!!Heather

This conversation with Ms. B Positive, Kellie Barhight, was such a gift! Kellie is a crusader for emotional and physical health. She is passionate about inspiring others to find their best selves and happiness. Kellie is also a mom of two sets of twins—I mean, that alone makes her a superhero! More about Kellie HERE "Her most recent “positive” venture was to be a bone marrow donor. Kellie didn't know when I asked her to be on the podcast that my niece is alive today at age 29, in part because she received a bone marrow transplant as a young child. "Kellie became a hero to me the moment I discovered the authentic, down-to-earth delivery of her "B Positive" messaging. The world needs real today; thank you, Ms. B Positive, for getting us out of bed and telling us to make the bed, caffeinate, hydrate, and move our bodies. Stacy does it all! She has learned how to embrace the calm in the chaos!!! Stacy challenges and inspires us to be responsible, kind, and courageous! She makes entrepreneurship look attainable and exciting with her out-of-the-box thinking and then taking action. However, I am most compelled by how she educates and gives back through her philanthropy branding and entrepreneurship. "Stacy Igel is Founder & Creative Director of BOY MEETS GIRL®, a young contemporary athleisure brand. Igel's a proud mom of son @dylanreidigel, industry leader & writes a lifestyle blog, Behind the Seams™ with Stacy Igel. She is also is the co-creator and co-host of the podcast MOMSGOTTHIS for mompreneurs. As part of her entrepreneurial endeavors, charity is a large focus. She has been a chair for several years for the YSCs ILP Gala & is a brand ambassador for the NSCC's BullyBust campaign. Igel's received several design awards & honors. She is a lecturer & panelist on subjects such as social media, philanthropy, branding & entrepreneurship." When Stacy agreed to be on my podcast, I was thrilled as I am with all my guests. However, this was a little different. Her book, Embracing the Calm in the Chaos: How to Find Success in Business and Life Through Perseverance, Connection, and Collaboration Inspired me as an entrepreneur, as a mom, as a woman, as a creative, and in so many other ways. There were so many moments in her story where Stacy stepped out of fear and into her confidence, competence, and vision, making things happen! So, I tapped into my confidence, competence, and vision and asked her to be on the podcast! Of course, she said "yes" because she's a fantastic giving soul. She's been giving back through her company for 23+ years, so I wasn't shocked at her willingness to pour a little love into my creative project :-) Her book is filled with wisdom. Stacy does everything with intention, purpose, and meaning, whether it's the collaboration with a cause or her creative values. I'm so thrilled to have had this conversation with Stacy. Whether you're reading her book as an entrepreneur or not, you will learn so much about perseverance, connection, collaboration, and all the amazing things that can happen when we step into the adventure of connecting and giving back. I am super excited about her latest collaboration with Strawberry Shortcake! Enjoy the conversation! And if you are inspired, share this episode with someone you love so they can be inspired. ~Heather
“Joy is a Practice.” This was such a great conversation with Melissa Bloom. Her curiosity and intention to find joy is inspiring. Her belief in humanity more than despair…leaves room for hope and Joy. Becoming aware is the first step! Then, realize that you get to decide and change your perception in order to see your world in a new way. I appreciate that Melissa encourages us to make these changes incrementally, knowing that a “Practice” is something that does not happen overnight. You can find out more about Melissa and Joy School on her Website. Get her book here and listen to her podcast, which is full of ways to find and practice joy!!!! May you find Joy in your life today and every day. Take Care Heather

"I believe every woman deserves to feel beautiful and strong. As women, we can get lost in all the roles we play: wife, mother, daughter, manager, friend…not to mention caretaker, taxi driver, tutor, soccer mom and so many more. It can leave us stressed, exhausted, and—let's be honest—sometimes feeling just plain frumpy. ""Personal styling is an investment in YOU. Has anyone told you how much you mean to them? What did that feel like? Some of us go through our days, weeks, months, and years, often unaware of our importance to others. It is remarkable to realize that we matter and have positively impacted another life. The conversation I had today with a former professor left us both energized and focused on growing even further in our work. It is incredible to hear you matter to someone, and even more rewarding to share with others how important they are or have been in your life. I have also been involved in 100 Women That Care, an organization that supports local charities in my community. Another organization I have closely worked with is The Make A Wish Foundation, granting wishes for special children. Most recently, I have partnered with a local organization that also grants wishes for children, Million Dollar Smiles. I was connected to the organization through my community of inspiring women and raised proceeds with the sales of t-shirts that encourage my message to ‘Spread Kindness." Our personal narrative is the story we tell ourselves about our lives and experiences. It shapes our beliefs, attitudes, and actions. The stories we tell ourselves can be empowering or limiting, depending on the nature of our self-talk.If a book was written about your life, what would it say? Would it be a story of triumphs and successes or one filled with regrets and missed opportunities? Our personal narrative is not set in stone; it can be rewritten or edited to reflect the person we want to become. The thoughts we allow to dominate our minds become beliefs that inform our daily actions. If we constantly tell ourselves negative stories about our abilities or worthiness, it becomes challenging to achieve success or happiness.Crafting a more empowering life story can transform who you are!Stay tuned for an update on my Life Story!!!I would love to hear from you!If you found this episode valuable, share it with others! Dr. Jp McMahon is a lot of things; one characteristic that stands out to me is that he is generous! I had such a fun conversation with this complex multi-passionate soul.Dr. McMahon is one of Ireland's most prominent chefs! His Michelin Star restaurant Aniar inspired his latest book that launched this week! "An Alphabet of Aniar: Notes For A New Irish Cuisine" He offers so much to the culinary world as a restaurateur, author, and culinary director of the EatGalway Restaurant Group. In addition, he runs the Aniar Boutique Cookery School and is the Founding chair and director of the Galway Food Festival. He also organizes the annual international chef symposium in Galway. "Food on the Edge." Their mission is "To discuss how to provide a more sustainable and ethical way to produce food for all." I discovered JP during the Covid lockdown in my search for a new cookbook. I ordered "The Irish Cookbook" and was transported to Ireland as he so respectfully brought the history of Irish food into the present. He has given the world an education and permission to create something new from what we know.JP is more than a chef. He is a super proud dad, a photographer, a produced playwright, a poet, a football fan, and more. "There never was any heart truly great and generous that was not also tender and compassionate."~Robert FrostHow are you generous, tender, and compassionate toward yourself? It can be a challenge to have an appreciation for our circumstances when our circumstances are difficult. However, the difficulties may be what prepare us for the next big wonderful thing in our lives. The relationships that go away make room for new ones, and the jobs we lose leave room for other opportunities. It is about perspective, resilience, and gratitude. This conversation is about the health benefits of walking and so much more!and you are welcome for the bit of a blooper partway through...technology is fun :-) As soon as you are done listening to this, I compassionately challenge you to put down your device and get outside! Go For A Walk!!!!Jennifer graciously shares many of the poignant life experiences that have, in turn, brought her to where she is today. "Risk is what you take to encounter possibilities." ~Jennifer WalshWe have been impacted negatively by isolation over the past few years. We need connection with one another as well as with ourselves. Nature has a way of calming and healing the soul, bringing us back to ourselves. As quoted in Prevention Magazine, Jennifer shares the following that beautifully summarizes why WALKING is so beneficial.Walking brings wellness "My years of research and studying and becoming an avid practitioner has led me to where I am today. Through my company, Walk With Walsh, I am on a mission to get more people outdoors and to understand the health benefits of spending time in Nature and what happens to us when we are without Nature in our daily lives. Mindful walking, what I like to refer to as Wellness Walks, aren't getting from point A to point B in a specific amount of time. It is more like yoga for the brain. It is a time to be present in Nature and to activate your senses in a way that you would not get indoors or in a gym. It is slowly walking in Nature and to understand the healing benefits that it has to offer."No matter where you live, Nature is available. Get a house plant, look for trees in your neighborhood or a nearby neighborhood. Discover a nearby water source (fountain, pond, lake, river, ocean). Spending time outdoors allows you to regulate your heart rate, breathing, and spirit! Nature offers an abundance of health benefits!Find Jennifer and more information about Biophilia and Biophilic Design on her Instagram and website. Do you make decisions all day long and feel overwhelmed at times? Are you easily irritated when someone asks you to decide one more thing? The Prefrontal Cortex, the area of the brain in charge of decision-making, can get tired! Knowing how to prep and automate decisions can alleviate the distress we feel with decision fatigue. Routine is one the best ways to counter this fatigue because everything is automated. You don't even need to think about it! Here are some tips:Try to go to bed and get up at the same time each day, EVEN ON WEEKENDS!Meal prep or at least meal plan. That way, you know what you need for ingredients, and you don't have to take time every meal trying to decide what to have. It is done for you.Eat the same thing for Breakfast every day. One less decision to make in the morning when you are just trying to wake up :-)Delegate household chores, including taking turns making meals.Make a Master TO DO List, yet only pick 3 tasks to work on. Then, when those 3 are completed, bring 1 item at a time forward from the Master List.Organize your CLOSET! This is a big one. Simplify your clothing choices and set outfits out the night before. Putting outfits together, including accessories, the night before creates calm in the morning routine. There are lots of ways to automate our lives...Let me know if you try any of these strategies!Message me on Instagram if you would like more tips!Heather
“Everything can be taken from a man (person) but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”― Viktor E. Frankl"Our attitude is a direct reflection of our thoughts." hsm Years ago I learned how to change my attitude thus changing my narrative, resulting in my life's transformation. It isn't just about re-writing our story...it is also about WRITING OUR STORY IN THE NOW. Deciding what fits, what does not fit, and boldly setting those truths into place. If the first thought in your day is that you are amazing, that becomes the belief of the day, therefore action reflects being an amazing person! When we make this shift we are kinder to others, we get things done, we reflect on the wonder of our lives.Take Aways, Answer the following questions:1. Do your thoughts match how you want to live your life?2. Have you wondered what it would be like to live in a different narrative?3. Do you surround yourself with those who support you right where you are and want the best for you.I would love to hear from you if you are chaninging how you think about your life!Find me on Instagram and here.Sending all the positive thougths your way!Heather

The 7 Rules of LifeThe Cardinal Rules of Life have been reinterpreted several times over the years. Rules are not the same as Principles. Rules guide us, yet the foundation of daily living is by Principle.Sometimes we hear something so often that it becomes white noise. Recently, I was challenged by The 7 Rules of Life differently. I am amid a significant shift, and I wanted to find a way to stay focused. I came across The 7 Rules and decided to use them as my compass, as they echo and have been expressed by influencers like;Mahatma GandhiMother TheresaDr. Michelle RobinMake peace with your past so it won't disturb your present. What other people think of you is none of your business.Time heals almost everything. ...You are in charge of your happiness. (figure out your purpose!)Please don't compare your life to others, and don't judge them. Stop thinking too much; it is alright not to have all the answersSmile! (this is my favorite!)Do you have challenges you are trying to figure out in your life? Do you wonder what it might take to create who you want to be and the life you want to live?I will announce in the next episode an additional purpose in how I will be of service to you, my listeners:-)Heather"Life is challenging! Maybe we can figure it out together." tm
