This is the third of 4 educational podcasts/videos sponsored in part by MSBA's Center for Education Safety on the subject of Indoor Air Quality or IAQ. https://www.mosba.org/ces/ In this episode, Luke, Kyle, Salum, and Dave talk about the issues within school buildings that affect the indoor air that everyone breathes when it comes to chemical use. Luke talks about the use of hand sanitizer and air quality, when, and where. Inside the classroom or outside? Kyle and Lee's Summit moved away from quat disinfectants due to air quality issues. Salum then talks about the purchasing issues when it comes to changing products & their supply of them. Dave added the solution may be to use a squirt top instead of a sprayer. Salum brings up the use of charing buckets to deliver chemistry will help the issue of reducing negative IAQ. They guys talk about resources the Missouri School Plant Managers Association has and the information sharing at their quarterly meetings. https://www.mspma.com/ Some of the conversations does revolve around the quality of the air in the outdoor environment as well. All three of them had quite a bit to say about the issues of what school personnel brings into the buildings from home and the issues of keeping them away from the learning environment. Kyle brings up the fact that humidity is a large issue in keeping down negative IAQ, reducing the growth of mold spores, pollen, and other allergens. RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) is now an issue along with seasonal flu. Now the question is, do we mask up again or just make them available? Everyone agrees, keep learning and stay up to date. Do what we all have learned and don't slow up. They all are fighting the issues of the supply chain when it comes to having the items needed when it comes to maintain the facilities. Be aware of this and plan now for what you need a full year out is the advice from Salum.
