It's time to review the new Tour Edge Exotics C725 & E725 drivers! Both drivers are packed with new technology and refined new looks. The E725 boasts 10k MOI for extreme forgiveness while still being long. The C725 offers a ton of adjustability while being lower launching and spinning.
In this episode, Ryan Barath, senior editor at golf.com for golf equipment, shares his journey into the world of golf equipment fitting. He discusses his passion for helping golfers understand their equipment and improve their game. Ryan also addresses the common misconception about golf shafts and explains the importance of considering the shaft profile and weight in the fitting process. Additionally, he highlights the need to challenge the notion that better players should always play low spin and low launch clubs. The conversation covers topics such as finding the right golf club, understanding the numbers in club fitting, a day in the life of a golf content creator, covering tour events, interesting setups on tour, pros' equipment choices, driver head choices and golf ball preferences, and fitting tips for average golfers. In this conversation, Ryan Barath emphasizes the importance of learning and being curious throughout the fitting process. He shares his favorite golf clubs of all time and discusses timeless and ageless clubs that still perform well today. Ryan also highlights his favorite clubs from this year and the value of building custom golf clubs. He concludes by emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and invites listeners to connect with him on social media. Takeaways When choosing a golf club, it's important to focus on what works best for you rather than what you think you should play. Understanding the numbers in club fitting, such as spin rates and launch angles, can help golfers make more informed decisions. Being a golf content creator involves a mix of writing, fitting, building, and creating content, with a focus on helping golfers improve their game. Covering tour events requires efficiency and the ability to capture interesting equipment choices and stories from professional golfers. Some professional golfers have unique and interesting setups in their bags, and their choices are often based on what works best for their game. Pros may choose to use previous year's golf balls because they are comfortable with them and have had success. When going for a fitting, it's important to ask questions and understand why certain equipment choices are being recommended. A good fitter will be able to explain the reasoning behind their recommendations and help golfers play better golf. Be curious and embrace the learning process during your fitting to gain a better understanding of your golfing and equipment, leading to improved performance. There are timeless and ageless golf clubs that still perform well today, such as the Ping Answer 2 putter and older Tour Edge fairway woods. Building custom golf clubs allows for personalized specifications and can result in a set of clubs that perfectly suits your game. Continuous learning is essential in the golf industry, and seeking advice and insights from other golfers and fitters can provide valuable knowledge.

This week I talk about Tour Edge's two drivers, the C and E 723. The C723 is directed towards better players with a ton of adjustability from the hosel to the sliding weights on the sole. This driver might be for the better player, but offers a lot of forgivness. Now the E723 is built for maximum forgiveness and it delivers. The launch is higher but the ball just wants to go straight, no matter where you hit it on the face.

I get the new Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Blue out on the course for review. It is the mid launch option in the Tensei 1K line up. Very smooth and tight dispersion. Tour Edge's Exotics Pro 723 irons are long and more forgiving than you expect. Feel is soft but the distance consistency on mishits is impressive.
It is time to review the new Tour Edge Exotics hybrids! I have had the C723 and E723 hybrids out on the course and they are both solid performers. The C723 offers a compact shaft, neutral bias, and a more penetrating ball flight. Its E723 sibling gives you higher ball flight, a softer landing on the green, and a lot of forgiveness.
Mike and Tyler are joined by David Glod of Tour Edge to discuss the company and golf clubs before going around the CDGA.
Holly G's guest this week is Jon Claffey, Vice President of Marketing for Tour Edge Golf (TourEdge.com) Jon shares about the early days of Tour Edge, founded in 1986 by David Glod, a former golf pro in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and how he built his start-up into a national brand. Tour Edge Announces the Launch of Wingman® 700 Series Putters Featuring Three New MOI-based DesignsToday, Tour Edge is announcing the launch of their new Exotics Wingman 700 Series Putters featuring three new modern mini-mallet designs and six total hosel options. The brand-new shapes offer cascading MOI (Moment of Inertia) properties matching the size of the Wingman putter head, providing maximum stability and optimal roll for every player type. The three innovative designs provide optimized alignment optics on the wildly effective Lock-On technology alignment system, improved acoustics, and a softer feel. Interchangeable sole weights on the heel and toe are featured in every model. “The original Wingman putters enjoyed a cult-like success, and over the past two years, we've been improving upon that success in every way possible,” said Tour Edge President and chief designer David Glod. “The feedback we received was that the Lock-On Alignment and the extreme stability of the putters were truly revolutionary for golfers. We put our focus on expanding the series to fit more player preferences in the shaping and to really upgrade the look, sound and feel of the putters in a big way.” “The result of our two-year revamp is six new putter models that represent some of the highest MOI putters on the market, and that are absolutely going to help you reduce the number of putts you are taking in a round,” added Glod. The Wingman 700 Series putters will be available for purchase worldwide on August 1 and will carry a retail price of $199.99. Models 701 and 702 – SUPER MAX MOIThe 701 (Mid Toe-Hang) and 702 (Face Balance) models produce extreme MOI. in a modern mallet design that forces the face square to the swing path for a truer roll due to the extreme perimeter weighted wings featured on the Wingman 701 and 702 designs. This larger footprint provides an extremely high resistance to twisting with one of the highest MOI ratings of any putter available on the market.Models 703 and 704 – MAX MOI The 703 (Mid Toe-Hang) and 704 (Face Balance) models remove the perimeter wings featured on the Super Max MOI models and move the interchangeable weights more face forward. This provides a gradual step down in MOI for those wanting a more compact, smaller footprint while still providing massive MOI properties. With the weights directly behind the face, this design creates more face control. MODELS 705 and 706 – HIGH MOI/MINI-MALLET

Speaking of Steven Alker, we talk New Level Golf equipment and the likes of other independent golf manufacturers like SUB 70 Golf, and Haywood Golf. I have played some golf this past week and get into what is working and what is not out on the course. I also get time to review the new Tour Edge Exotics C722 and E722 drivers. They are both really long, low spin, and forgiving. The E722 is built to go long, high, and straight where the C722 is more compact and built for higher swing speed players.
I finally review the UST Mamiya LIN-Q Purple, Gunmetal, and M40x Blue shafts out on the range. Was really impressed with the smooth feel and consistency they each offered. Tour Edge's new C722 hybrid is long and easy to launch, but with a flatter flight. The Exotics E722 fairway is very easy to hit and offers tons of distance with a high launch.
Reviewing the new Tour Edge Exotics C722 Ti Utility iron. Really impressive sound and feel while the titanium face offers great ball speed and distance! TaylorMade is back with the custom driver options and I built my own! The look is totally custom and even the headcover is super cool!
This week Bill gives "thanks" to some dude that gave him some unsolicited advice on a recent vintage purchase, then Kris and Bill discuss the fall-out from this past week's Saudi tournament and league rumors. But, the big story of the week, is the guys getting a chance to hit the new Tour Edge Exotics E722 and C722 driver and three-wood. I was off last week and didn't get a show recorded, I am sorry for that. But back this week with some club tinkering and course play talk. Then I review the new Nikon Coolshot 50i laser rangefinder. I started to really miss the red LCD display, just so easy to read. Tour Edge's Exotics C721 irons are super forgiving and really long, but have such a soft feel and sound to them. The 4 iron has crept into my bag quietly as well.

Host Holly G is in the studio on the eve of the Barclays, the first event of the 2015 FedEx Cup playoffs. Jeff Babineau, Golfweek, calls in to talk about Davis Love III's big win, at 51, at the Wyndham Championship while on the other side of the age spectrum, Lydia Ko winning in Canada Holly and Jeff talk about the golfers who play well at this time of the year like Billy Horschel did last year and how you can make a lot of money. People from all over the globe competing for the 125 PGA Tour cards Martin Kaymer lost his PGA Tour by not playing a required 15 events splitting time between the European Tour and PGA Tour. Jeff said that Kaymer is out of the playoffs this year but win a major championship Kaymer will be alright moving forward. Jeff mentions that Robert Streb got a huge jump on this season by playing the early events in the fall start of the 2014-2015 Tour start. Already Rory McIlroy has committed to play in the early events of the upcoming 2015-2016 season. Holly asks Jeff his thoughts on the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs are there true favorites or will someone come out of the pack like last year? Holly says that someone with a hot short game might come out on top at Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey this week with the greens being the way they are set up for The Barclays. Jeff said that he likes the rotation for the playoffs among courses and Plainfield is such a great old course. Matt Kuchar is Jeff's pick to win The Barclays this week. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, calls in and starts things off talking about the U.S. Amateur Champion Bryson DeChambeaux who also won the NCAA individual men's title this year. Steve talks about Bryson's idiosyncrasies with his golf equipment. Holly and Steve also cover the LPGA and Lydia Ko's win and Stacey Lewis' who Steve seems a little snake bitten lately not being able to close out the tournaments. Lewis is playing at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic where the field is a little thin. The 2015 Solheim Cup is in September and Paula Creamer and Brittany Lang were named as the captain's picks by Juli Inkster. He thinks Creamer was picked for experienced and thinks the Americans team looks really well statistically. Last time the Europeans had the better numbers and ended up upsetting the USA on their home soil. Jeff Shain, Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette in Hilton Head, S.C., call in from beautiful South Carolina to talk about Davis Love III's win and the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs. The third oldest, longest stretch of time between first and last wins. His first win was in 1987. Tiger turns 40 in December. He still moves the needle in the ratings and the Wyndham printed an extra 47,000 tickets after Tiger announced he was playing Wyndham. Tiger did a little analysis of Davis' putting during the week and Davis gave Tiger the feel of Sedgefield Country Club that seemed to help Tiger out this past weekend. Jeff wonders if Tiger had added one more start back in May might he have picked up enough points for him to make the playoffs? Holly mentions the putting hiccups Tiger has lately and the 11th hole when the wheels came off the cart for him with a triple bogey. Three of Dustin Johnson's three wins have been 54-hole wins and Jeff talks about DJ avoiding the clunker back 9 on the final rounds. Jeff mentions that four of the past five winners at the FedEx Cup have come off the pace and those who controlled their own destiny haven't been able to play well at East Lake to win it all. Jordan Spieth has the highest point total that there has ever been going into the FedEx Cup playoffs this year. Jeff Shain likes Spieth and DJ at the top of the leader board again, whereas Robert Streb might be a long shot as well as David Lingmerth. Mike Jamison, Examiner.com and ING, calls in to talk to Holly about the PGA Expo in Las Vegas, that just ended. Cobra has recently introduced their new King Cobra driver. There was a demo day but it's mainly an apparel and fashion show. Tour Edge came out with a new limited edition hybrid with a slip stream sole. Chase 54 introduced a new line of apparel. One cool training aids was the Golf Chute by Chute Trainer that helps with the hip turns and adds distance off the tee using wind resistance in training. Mike said that a unique aspect is that the USA company employs physically challenged in the factory. Next week is the World Amateur Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The world Am is open to all golfers - 17 years old and above - with a certified USGA handicap or foreign equivalent. Features six competitive divisions.

Holly G and Jeff Shain, PGATour.com and Prime Sports Network, are in the studio for another hour of intelligent golf talk. Holly and Jeff talk about Chris Kirk's win at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Makes his 4th Tour win. Jeff said that Kirk was the last man standing and birdied the 18th hole, which his competitors who were chasing him could not do. Holly and Jeff talk about Jordan Spieth who finished second has had several this year. There were at least 11 people who withdrew from the AT&T Byron Nelson. Torrential rains have been falling and the course is sloppy and wet and probably a lot of rain delays. Jeff and Holly also discuss Ian Poulter and Ricky Fowler being rated as the most overrated players on the Tour in a recent survey. The survey was before Fowler's recent win. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to Holly and Jeff about the Texas event with 12 players withdrawn. Bob said that the Byron Nelson had their best field in 8 or 9 years until the rain came and players started bailing out of the tournament. It's a long year and there are a lot of tournaments to play. Bob said that the players are not obligated to play. Day had dizziness issues before and Poulter said he tweaked his body earlier in the day and had to withdraw. Holly asks Bob about how these 12 players pulling out might help some of the remaining players who stayed who have been playing well. Bob said that if you are putting well those players have an advantage now with the weather. Holly asks Bob about Byeong-hun An's win at the BMW Championship.
