Welcome in to this episode of Next on the Tee, where golf legends live and your game gets better. This week, I've got three terrific guests that I have the privilege of sharing with you. They share great stories, valuable golf insights, and tips that can help you play better and enjoy the game even more. Leading off is PGA Professional and PGA TOUR Champions player Rob Labritz. Rob takes us inside one of America's most iconic major championship venues, Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, and shares his thoughts on what players will face at the upcoming U.S. Open. He also discusses his experiences playing legendary courses around the world, including Old Head Golf Links in Ireland, golf in Australia, and Oakmont Country Club. Plus, Rob reveals a simple yet highly effective putting drill designed to help golfers make more of those pressure-packed 4-to-6-foot putts that can make or break a round. Next, renowned sports psychologist and "The Confidence Doctor" Dr. Bob Winters returns to discuss one of the most overlooked aspects of golf performance: happiness on the golf course. Drawing inspiration from LPGA legend Nancy Lopez, Dr. Bob shares powerful mental game strategies for maintaining a positive attitude, managing frustration, and enjoying the game regardless of your score. If you've ever struggled with keeping your confidence after a bad shot or rough stretch of holes, this segment is really going to help... Rounding out the show is former NHL star and five-time American Century Classic winner Dan Quinn. Dan shares stories from his friendship with hockey legend Mario Lemieux, memories of playing Oakmont, and why Shinnecock Hills remains his favorite golf course. He also discusses the growing Pro Tour, where former professional athletes compete at a high level, and gives his thoughts on the Stanley Cup Finals. Whether you're looking for golf instruction, putting tips, mental game coaching, U.S. Open insights, Champions Tour stories, golf course recommendations, or behind-the-scenes conversations with athletes who love the game, this episode delivers it all. #NextOnTheTee #GolfPodcast #GolfLife #GolfTips #GolfInstruction #USOpen #USOpenGolf #ShinnecockHills #PGATourChampions #RobLabritz #GolfMentalGame #GolfPsychology #DrBobWinters #PuttingTips #GolfPerformance #GolfConfidence #NancyLopez #OakmontCountryClub #OldHeadGolfLinks #DanQuinn #MarioLemieux #CelebrityGolf #AmericanCenturyChampionship #TheProTour #GolfFans #GolfCommunity #GolfNews #GolfTalk #GolfersOfInstagram #GolfAddict
On this week's edition of Next on the Tee, I have the privilege of welcoming three outstanding guests who share major championship insights, mental game strategies, and behind-the-scenes stories from the highest levels of golf. First, four-time Hall of Famer Richard Zokol discusses his new book, Zokology: Change Your Perspective Not Your Swing, and shares why the right mindset, a dependable pre-shot routine, and learning to perform under pressure are the true keys to better golf. He also tells us why another Canadian legend, George Knudson, told him he shouldn't be excited about earning his Tour card, and the lesson we can learn from Jack Nicklaus when he said to Author Ken Bowden immediately following the Duel in the Sun, "of course, we'll have dinner, Ken, it's only a game." Next, legendary golf journalist and Western Pennsylvania Golf Association Hall of Famer Ron Sirak weighs in on Aaron Rai's PGA Championship victory, the future of the LPGA Tour, leadership concerns at the PGA of America, and what the women's game needs to do to grow its audience. The show wraps up with 2003 PGA Champion Shaun Micheel, who takes us inside the Champions Dinner at the PGA Championship, discusses the challenge of getting a spot on the PGA TOUR Champions and European Legends Tour. Shaun is very passionate about the game and competing and you'll hear all it in this segment. Folks, this week's episode of Next on the Tee is a really special one…and an emotional one too. I'm joined by three tremendous guys who have great stories to share and who remind us what this game — and the friendships that come from it — are all about. First up is 2019 PGA Tour Champions Player of the Year Scott McCarron. Scott has become a great friend over the years, someone who is very important to me. Scott opens up about the toughest battle of his life after recently being diagnosed with cancer. He shares how he discovered it, the frightening moments that followed when his test results came back, and the treatment journey he's now taking on with courage, faith, and determination. Then Scott's longtime friend, UCLA teammate, fraternity brother, and fellow PGA Tour Champions winner Brandt Jobe jumps into the conversation. You'll hear stories from their lifelong friendship, the time Brandt beat Scott by a stroke on Tour, and Scott returning the favor a few weeks later. Plus, the injuries Brandt has overcome, his battle to get back out on Tour, and his son Jackson Jobe making his way back from Tommy John surgery to pitch this year for the Detroit Tigers. I close things out with another terrific visit from Clark Dennis, who looks back on his great play at the 1994 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, his win at the 2024 Costa Navarino Legends Tournament in Greece with his son on the bag, and his successes playing over on the European Legends Tour. It's an episode filled with friendship, perseverance, gratitude, great golf stories, and the kind of conversations that remind us why we love this game so much. Please like and subscribe so we can get the show in front of more great golf fans just like you. #GolfPodcast #NextOnTheTee #PGATourChampions #ScottMcCarron #BrandtJobe #ClarkDennis #GolfLegends #GolfStories #GolfLife #GolfCommunity #GolfFans #GolfTalk #GolfInterviews #ChampionsTour #USOpen #Oakmont #OakmontCountryClub #EuropeanLegendsTour #SeniorGolf #GolfChannel #GolfInstruction #GolfTips #MentalGame #GolfMotivation #CancerAwareness #SportsPodcast #BestGolfPodcasts #GolfNews #GolfMedia #GolfContent #GolfWorld #PGA #GolfHistory #DetroitTigers #JacksonJobe #CollegeGolf #UCLAGolf #GolfFriends #InsideTheRopes #WhereGolfLegendsLive #YourGameGetsBetter

We're proud to share our 300th podcast episode. Nearly six years in, we're grateful for every listener and guest who has made this podcast a meaningful part of the turf community. To mark the occasion, this milestone episode brings together three hosts and three special guests, each offering a unique story from across the game.First, our friend John Reilly, the Turf Monkey at Longboat Key Resort in Sarasota, Florida, introduces us to “Dirty Old Tom,” whom we met at the GCSAA Conference in Orlando. In a lively and entertaining segment, we revisit the legacy of Tom Morris, widely recognized as the grandfather of golf course greenkeeping. Beyond his four Open Championships, Morris was a pioneer who helped establish The Open, built clubs and golf balls, designed courses, introduced sand topdressing, and was the first to groom bunkers for play. It's a fun and fitting nod to the roots of our profession.Next, Kevin sits down with Tom Walker to unpack the remarkable 2018 renovation of the Coeur d'Alene Resort's floating green. To prevent the iconic green from sinking, the team reduced its weight from 5.5 million to 4.5 million pounds. The project required moving the green three miles across the lake, removing hundreds of cubic yards of soil, adding foam for buoyancy, restoring the original design, updating irrigation, and re-sodding before winter. Complex, costly, and carefully executed, the renovation preserved one of golf's most recognizable features. Finally, Jack interviews John Chassard with a preview of the inaugural Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic at Lehigh Country Club, featuring a field of 78 PGA TOUR Champions players. They discuss course conditions heading into September, tournament preparations, hospitality build-out, and the rebuild of the 11th green using Penn Poa to restore playability and performance. Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania and the greater Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley regions, including Valley Youth House and the Eagles Autism Foundation.Three hosts. Andy and Brendan return from the weekend with some excitement as Alejandro Tosti made it through Q-School on Sunday, securing his PGA Tour card for 2025 and ensuring another year of major league Tosti Tales. After a Swag Sports Minute about Brendan's experience at the Capitals game, it's time for the second men's major of 2024 on the Year in Review. Part 6 starts with the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Andy runs through the early week storylines such as Jimmy Dunne's resignation from the PGA Tour Policy Board and Mother Nature cancelling just one pre-tournament press conference due to a Tuesday storm - Michael Block's. From there, Brendan recaps Xander's course record 62 on Thursday, yet another hit for Blockie this week, before diving in to the madness of Scottie Scheffler's arrest on Friday morning. Jeff Darlington's tweets are read and $80 pants that were "damaged beyond repair" are discussed in this segment remembering one of the most chaotic days in golf. PJ slides in next to take the lead for the weekend, detailing Xander's transformation from housecat to bobcat, Bryson's showmanship ahead of Pinehurst, and Scottie's Saturday with the PGA Tour's chaplain on the bag. He also recalls Andy's early shouts for Justin Thomas to switch to the broom for his putting. Next, Andy shares some tales from his pro-am round with Blockie at the Charles Schwab Championship alongside the latest developments in the Scottie Scheffler case in its second week. Elsewhere, Richard Bland won the Senior PGA, leading to a hilariously passive aggressive tweet from the PGA Tour Champions announcing his victory. To wrap things up, Brendan looks back at the week of the RBC Canadian Open, won by Big Shot Bob MacIntyre with his dad on the bag. Nelly Korda makes a 10 on a par 3 at the U.S. Women's Open, a bird gets killed by a golf ball, and C.T. Pan goes through four caddies in one round in Canada. Andy Johnson and Garrett Morrison team up for a two-part episode for this Thursday release. To start, Andy chats with Todd Demsey, a former professional golfer who now hand-makes persimmon clubs. Andy and Todd discuss Todd's All-American college golf career at Arizona State, his experience playing with persimmon clubs on the PGA Tour Champions, and why persimmons are special to him. In the second half of this episode, Garrett is joined by Chris Millard, author of the book The Shot: Watson, Nicklaus, Pebble Beach, and the Chip That Changed Everything, to discuss the new release and the long history of Pebble Beach Golf Links. Garrett and Chris dive into the early days of Pebble Beach, the 1982 U.S. Open, and how television helped popularize the sport across America.
This Wednesday morning recording is an in-person episode recorded over the internet, as Brendan and Andy are in Texas for the Fried Egg Golf offsite. Andy starts this episode with the debut of a new segment, "Nico Echavarria Minute," relaying the latest in stats and news for the audience's favorite FedEx Fall stalwart. Up next is a preview of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, as the two discussing notables in the field and noting the entire group of FedEx Fall Bubble Boys will be in attendance this week. Creator Classic stars and YouTube Golfers Wesley and George Bryan are paired together for this tournament, leading Andy and Brendan to wonder what kind of auxiliary content may come from Bermuda. They then unpack a Golfweek article discussing Maverick McNealy's research into FedEx Cup point "inequity" on the PGA Tour, as he found that Signature Events award a disproportionate amount of points compared to majors and non-Signature Events. From there, it's the first-ever offseason "Champs Tour Minute" as Paul Azinger has signed on to replace Lanny Wadkins as the lead television analyst for the PGA Tour Champions. PJ also shows off his custom Champions Tour t-shirt, delivered by a listener after a missed connection in Phoenix. Caitlin Clark is playing in the pro-am for the LPGA's The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, leading to big crowds on Wednesday. On the DP World Tour, Rory McIlroy is set to win the season-long race at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Andy and Brendan discuss Adrian Meronk's comments calling for the PGA Tour to be focused on America and a new tour to be focused on golf in the rest of the world... which is what the DP World Tour used to be. In news and notes, the two discuss the Dunlop Phoenix event and how Dunlop tennis balls may be leading to player injuries, LIV's first batch of tournaments for 2025, and the Chicago Bears changing offensive coordinators after such an incredible start to the year.
