We are at the halfway point in the 2025 Masters Tournament, and with moving day in a few short hours, the stars have shown up for the 89th Masters. After a couple disappointing double bogeys to finish his first round, Rory McIlroy came back with a sterling 66 on Friday to climb back up the leaderboard and back into the conversation heading into the weekend. Will this be the year he gets the monkey off his back and completes the grand slam? Bryson Dechambeau also played a much cleaner round on Friday than he did the previous day and finds himself a shot back of the leader after 36 holes. Can the YouTube star find a way to put on the Green Jacket this Sunday. Scottie Scheffler was frustrated at times, but played well enough to hang around heading into the weekend. We will talk about the stories so far, including Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer battling to try to made the cut at ages 65 & 67 at the same time, young spaniard Javier Ballestar got in hot water for urinating into Rae's Creek. Andy and Brendan are posted at the Draddy House Thursday evening to discuss their day at Augusta National scurrying around collecting nuggets and watching golf. They discuss some of the very tough pins and course difficulties of the first round, where Nick Dunlap posted a 90 without a three-putt. Theyhit on some of the early leaders like Justin Rose and Scottie Scheffler, as well as some of the late disappointments like Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy. There's also plenty of chatter about the pace of play and the Tom Kim experience up close. They hand out awards for shot of the day, quote of the day, Piss Bear of the day, and the Good Guy Gerry Award. They wax poetic about watching Bernhard Langer make his way around the course as a wily veteran. At the end, they unload the notebook with some fun rumors and scuttlebutt picked up from the day on the ground.

This week on Next on the Tee, is a Special Masters Preview edition of the show. I'm taking you inside the ropes and into the heart of Augusta National with four incredible guests who've lived The Masters—from competing in the tournament a combined 18 times to calling the action for CBS Sports. In Part 1, is one of the all-time great ball strikers in PGA Tour history and a local Georgia golf legend, Tim Simpson. Making his ninth appearance on the show, Tim shares what it was like playing in The Masters six times, with his best finish coming in 1985 when he tied for 18th. A proud Atlanta native and UGA alum, Tim opens up about both the highs and the struggles he faced at Augusta, particularly on those famously challenging greens. Next, I'm joined by a longtime friend of the show Donnie Hammond. Donnie played in The Masters four times, beginning in 1986—the year he found himself in the second-to-last group on Sunday, paired with none other than Bernhard Langer. Donnie reflects on the excitement of that final round and the intensity of hearing the roars from all over the course as Jack Nicklaus made his legendary charge. He also takes us back to 1975 when he worked at Augusta during another unforgettable Masters, won by Jack in a dramatic finish over Tom Weiskopf and Johnny Miller. Donnie shares stories about being on the grounds both as a player and a fan, giving us a rich, inside look at one of golf's most iconic events.

In this very special episode of Next on the Tee, 2011 U.S. Senior Open Champion Olin Browne and 1987 US Amateur Champion Billy Mayfair join the show. Olin shares his thoughts on the PGA Tour's controversial changes—smaller field sizes, fewer Monday qualifiers, and the dominance of signature events. Is the tour catering too much to top players at the expense of the grinders? Olin shares his perspective on how these changes might impact the next generation of Tour players. We also discuss the financial side of the game, from $25 million purses to sponsors pulling out. With TV ratings down and fans feeling disconnected from today's stars, what can the PGA Tour do to bring back its audience? Olin weighs in on whether accessibility and engagement changes could make a difference. Shifting gears, we reminisce about Olin's experiences at Oakmont, site of the 2025 U.S. Open. He reflects on his rounds there in ‘94 and ‘07, the legendary greens, and even witnessing Arnold Palmer's farewell. Billy Mayfair was also witness to The King's final US Open round and talks about sticking around following his Friday round to see it. We discuss his trip to Morocco to open up his Champion's Tour season. Billy reflects on his legendary iron play, including a streak of six consecutive birdies on Par 3s last season—an impressive feat on today's long courses. Billy also gives his perspective on equipment advancements, comparing today's clubs and balls to those from earlier eras. He recalls playing alongside icons like Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, and Trevino, sharing his favorite memories from competing against legends. Billy also gets candid about his journey in professional golf, revealing how he turned pro without telling his parents and when he finally broke the news. Finally, we check in on his wife, Tami, who has been a huge influence on his career—both as a caddie and in her own golf endeavors—and ask Billy how much longer he envisions competing at a high level, given that Bernhard Langer is still winning at 67! It's a fascinating discussion with two of golf's true competitors—don't miss it!

Nick is running late for the pod, he's been playing at Lonsdale Links in Victoria and has had a mad dash to get to the pod in time, thus his tardiness. Mark hasn't played Lonsdale Links, and given Nick was their all day as part of a left-handed day, he is the perfect person to give a snapshot of what he thought - and it's all positive. Except for one thing, which disappoints Mark. Nick loved the names of the holes, particularly the 5th.We discuss Bernhard Langer who is in a purple patch of form, and won at the weekend. We look at his driving distance , which is not at the level of some of the other guys, but he still finds a way to win. We run through some of his stats, which are extremely impressive. Mark tells a story about Langer coming out to Australia for the 1985 Masters. We chat about Jason Day's LIV comments this week. Is the public story correct or is there more to it? Next to us at the Golf Clearance Outlet, is a GC Quad, Mark is fascinated by them and what they do, he talks through what Xander has been doing with the GC Quad. Nick talks about his relationship with technology vs feel. Mark asks Nick about how accurate he was in analysing distance without tech.As we're about to go the turn Sam, who is the big cheese at the Golf Clearance Outlet, walks past so we grab him for a chat about the stores, how they're doing, and some of the specials on offer. We hear a great story about Tiger Woods, and Sam debuts a UFC themed golf product.A ripping Top 5 this week for our mates at Southern Golf Club, and a Top 5 suggested by Wolfpack member Chris Payne - the Top 5 Aussie players with underrated careers. One of the entries leads to a great story about Mark getting tanked in Scotland with a couple of very famous golfers. Third Man Dan reckons Mark, and Chris, have overlooked an obvious underrated golfer....although, ironically, he has overlooked the fact that his suggestion is not in fact Australian.Nick gives us the PING Global results and, as usual, PING players are killing it all over the world. Some good feedback this week, keep it coming, we love your comments and questions.Nick's masterclass today, inspired by Bernhard Langer, is on older players looking for more distance.PING will help you play your best, like they have for Nick O'Hern. At long last, "Champions Tour Minute" leads this Monday episode, as Andy and Brendan pepper PJ with questions about his weekend at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Phoenix Country Club. PJ shares stories from the ground about his interactions with Richard Green and Bernhard Langer, his investigative journalism regarding the sales of Buzzballz, and explains his walk through an inflatable colon as part of the event's fan village. Andy and Brendan enjoy the reports on cart usage, including Darren Clarke's tricked-out steering wheel, and recap the incredible finish to the actual tournament. Football talk is front and center during Swag Sports Minute, as PJ ventured off to Jets at Cardinals on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix, abandoning his post at the Schwab Cup, only to leave at halftime with the Jets down 24-6. Andy's Bears aren't doing any better - Caleb Williams was sacked nine times by the lowly Patriots in another multi-score loss. Andy and Brendan then recap the Lotte Championship, which a listener actually watched at Lottie's in Chicago, before touching on Paul Waring's win at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. This episode wraps with some discussion about the World Wide Technology Championship, won by Austin Eckroat, with some Tosti Tales and a questionable disqualification handed down by the PGA Tour.

Then they somehow get on the subject of the proper way to cut grilled cheese, parents who email the school too much, and Coco Gauff's pasta endorsement. There's more discussion on some Palm Springs matters, like Jon Rahm allegedly being in town and playing in some games, Nick Dunlap's impressive showing, and Billy Boy mic'd up on PGA Tour Live. They also discuss Bernhard Langer announcing this year will be his last Masters and Fred Ridley saying Angel Cabrera will be welcomed back if he gets his visa. Some Pelley quotes about a “global tour” are also dissected and analyzed as fairly pushy on his strategic alliance.
