As Matchroom Boxing prepare to get the Netflix treatment, we look back on the impact the promoter has made in British boxing and beyond - and focus also on his signing of Shakur Stevenson. After a nondescript boxer was caught out for doping on the recent Los Angeles bill we ask the question: How rife is doping and how many cheats actually get caught? We also re-examine the potential implications of the Saudi revolution in light of Tris Dixon's recent article on BoxingScene and look ahead to Diego Pacheco's next test. There's a forgotten slugfest in This Week as we go back to 1981 and Rolando Navarrete upsetting Cornelius Boza-Edwards.Finally, another thank you to those who've signed up to out Patreon! Season 2 starts with an Ask Me Anything episode with Anthony where he answers listener questions. Anthony reflects on the previous season and values the personal and inspiring stories shared by guests like Sam Ward, Tony Bellew, Tris Dixon, and Brian O'Driscoll. He emphasises the significance of learning from other people's experiences and finding hope in their journeys. Anthony also shares his personal experiences, including his boxing career and the tactics he employed to overcome nervousness before significant fights. He talks about his motivation to be exceptional and build a better life than what he experienced growing up.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Jealousy can be detrimental, but it is possible to overcome it by being genuinely happy for others' success and recognizing that their achievements are a result of hard work and perseverance. Nerves and fear are natural, and they can either sharpen your focus and performance or consume you if not properly managed. Preparation, confidence, and surrounding yourself with supportive and skilled individuals can help control nerves and enhance performance. Motivation comes from a desire to be great, to achieve goals, and to leave a lasting legacy. Wanting more than what one has experienced in the past and striving for greatness can be powerful motivators to keep going and overcome challenges. The way we look at things can greatly impact our lives. Changing our perspective and finding the positive in difficult situations can lead to personal growth and transformation. You never know what someone is going through, so it's important to be kind and understanding. Small acts of kindness and empathy can have a significant impact on someone's life and well-being. BEST MOMENTS "Fear is like this fire, and it's burning deep inside. Now, if you control it, it's going to make you hot. But you see, this thing here, controls you. It's going to burn you and everything else around you up." "Always believe your best days are yet to come." "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." "You haven't got to see the whole staircase. You've just got to see the next step." "You have no idea what people are going through. So be nice to people. At the very least, don't be a dick." HOST BIO Olympic medal-winning boxer, Anthony Ogogo, teetered on the brink of a world title before a career-ending eye injury left him mostly blind in one eye. Battling years of depression, he reinvented himself as a professional wrestler with All Elite Wrestling in America. Anthony holds an impressive record of 10 British boxing titles, in addition to being the junior world and junior Olympic champion. Beyond sports, he's a renowned international motivational speaker, gracing prestigious venues like Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street. Anthony's entrepreneurial spirit led him to create Ogogo Fitness, a fitness app. Now, as a podcast host, he shares his incredible journey and the wisdom he's gleaned from life's trials. Join him in exploring the resilience that has defined his life, and the inspirational stories of others who have risen above challenges to find success and happiness. Instagram - @anthonyogogo

Tris Dixon is the former editor of Boxing News and has covered the sport for nearly two decades. He was the ghostwriter for Ricky Hatton's recent bestselling autobiography, War and Peace, and is a regular pundit on Sky Sports' boxing shows. Tris joins Steven on this episode to talk about his life so far and how he turned his passion for the sport of boxing into the words that have since inspired so many to see it in a new way. KEY TAKEAWAYS In the formative years of life, many are striving to prove themselves in physical ways. This can lead to the creation of people who attack, and people built to defend. It's sometimes best not to burn ourselves out in pursuit of physical perfection. Our bodies require rest between sessions, and reflection upon what we have achieved. It's the same with sparring. The perception of boxing is often one of violence, but it also a discipline that teaches control, self-care, fitness and self-development. Finding contentment and peace is the way to true happiness. Chasing an idea of happiness is ultimately unattainable. BEST MOMENTS 'There are parallels between business and boxing' 'If you're prepared to put yourself out there and box, you can confront a lot more in life' 'It's not about hurting each other. It's about learning' 'If you can just be, then that is the key' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Steven Sulley Study       Tris Dixon Twitter - https://twitter.com/TrisDixon Tris Dixon Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/trisdixon/?hl=en  ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. IN a special bonus podcast, Tris Dixon talks to Boxing News about his latest book, Damage - The Untold Story of Brain Trauma in boxing.   The subject matter - that of brain damage in boxing - is notoriously difficult to address in a sport that thrives on punches to the head. Nonetheless, it’s explored in detail here.  Dixon, alongside current BN editor Matt Christie and Alex Steedman, talks earnestly about the sport he loves, the fighters he’s met and the sobering conclusion he’s come to: In boxing, there is no such thing as a dot-to-dot guide to getting out unscathed and damage can strike at any time.   This in-depth look at safety in boxing is a must-listen for the entire industry.
