Barry Hearn joins Jake and Damian for a no-nonsense masterclass in ambition, resilience, and the mindset that turned a kid from a council estate into one of the most influential figures in global sport. The legendary Matchroom founder opens up about the work ethic shaped by his formidable mother, the chip on his shoulder that fuelled his rise, and the Christmas Eve moment in 1988 when he stood on the brink of bankruptcy, before one audacious deal changed everything.Across the conversation, Barry lays out his 10 Rules for Life: why “everything is a competition,” how sheer graft can make you look like a genius, why honesty is a superpower, and what it means to be “unbeatable” even when life dents you. He reflects on building empires in snooker, darts, and boxing, the importance of thinking poorly to stay sharp, and the role fire, fun, and relentless optimism have played in his seven decades of success. This is Barry Hearn in full force, funny, fierce, and fiercely honest, offering the timeless laws of success from a man who refuses to be beaten. In this show, we are talking about last night's fight card. We start with a hot-button topic of the three major fighters who have been champions and retained their position atop of the sport, which journey have you enjoyed the most: David Benavidez, Devin Haney or Jesse "Bam" RodriguezWe will also break down Benavidez win over Anthony Yarde, Haney defeating Brian Norman Jr, and "Bam" defeating Fernando Martinez. Also, we talk about what might be the "Fight of the Year" as Abdullah Mason wins the WBO lightweight title over Sam Noakes in a modern classic, that might have been too good to be a vacant title fight. Also, we talk about Mizuki Hiruta, who made her sixth title defense of her WBO junior bantamweight women's title, and Francisco Veron, who defeated Roiman Villa on ProBox TV. This week, we have two marquee cards. On Saturday, Lukie will be on-site in Fresno for the ProBox TV. He gives a detailed explanation of why you should watch Justin Pauldo, Charlie Sheehy, Karlos Balderas, and many others involved. In the U.K., on Saturday, light heavyweight Ben Whittaker makes his Matchroom debut. Emily Frazer is the CEO of Matchroom Multi Sport. She's led the charge in transforming sports like 9-ball pool into fast-growing, commercially compelling global properties, building new formats, elevating athlete storytelling, and bringing fresh audiences into what we could call a challenger landscape. The Multi-Sport story was told to perfection in the recent Matchroom Netflix series, shining a light on the lesser known side of the organisation at the centre of the boxing world and driving the boom we've seen in the darts. The question for Emily is simple: can the success in these other sports be replicated in the multi-sport model?Ahead of the Mosconi Cup next week at Ally Pally (pool's answer to the Ryder Cup), Emily delivers a compelling reveal on life behind the Matchroom curtain and what it's going to take to deliver an emerging sport on a global stage. Timestamps:00:00 Intro05:01 What is Multi Sport?16:31 How Early Opportunities Accelerate Learning20:53 How Did Matchroom Become the “Owner” of the Sport?26:35 What's the Master Plan to Make Nine-Ball a Global Sport?31:46 Is Narrative More Important Than Quality Now?34:14 The Upcoming Mosconi Cup36:33 Do Athlete Brands Matter More Than Teams Now?40:47 Is It Truly a Viable Job for Players?44:11 Where Matchroom's Core Revenue in Pool Comes From49:42 Should Matchroom Create a Unified Fan Loyalty Program?54:41 Pressure to Match Darts' Success59:59 Why Pool Is More Accessible Than Snooker01:03:09 Quick-Fire RoundOn today's show we discuss: From ‘Special Events' to a Global Multisport Division:How a once-overlooked corner of Matchroom evolved from “the joke department” into one of the company's fastest-growing verticals. The commercial blueprint Matchroom is applying, from multi-table events to digital-first broadcasting, social virality and new formats. The weight of carrying a whole sport on your shoulders, and why Emily believes that “80% crazy” is an essential part of the job.The belief that with the right innovation, risk, and relentlessness, Pool will become a global powerhouse.Athletes, Pressure & Player Pathways:The human realities of managing athletes in a developing sport. Expectation, frustration, and the emotional weight of leading a tour they rely on to feed their families. Why Pool is one of the rare sports where amateurs can face legends, and how that creates powerful fan moments that drive new fandom. How the rise of local ranking events has unlocked hidden talent in Vietnam, the Philippines, the U.S. and beyond.Commercial Strategy, Media & Monetisation:The economics of Pool today: ticketing, sponsorship, WNT TV, and the importance of viewership for long-term sustainability. Why Pool cannot rely on tradition or federation structures, and must innovate faster and more aggressively than snooker or darts ever did.The long-term vision: a profitable global tour, star-driven marketing, and a world where Pool sits alongside darts and snooker in Matchroom's “big three.”A huge thank you to our amazing partners on the show: DavidGo and check out the amazing products revolutionising the protein bar at https://davidprotein.comStrydeBringing sports investment opportunities to your door. In this episode, Dakota and Lukie talk about Jaron "Boots" Ennis' first-round knockout over Uisma Lima. How good is Ennis? We discuss in the lead. Also, Keith Thurman and Sebastian Fundora will no longer fight at he end of October. Then, heavyweight Guido Vianello knocked out Alexis Barriere, with thoughts on Tahmir Smalls' win over Jose Roman and Dennis Thompson's close fight with Sean Diaz. Prospect alert on the undercard, watch Giorgio Visioli. He is good, and Naheem Parker beat unbeaten Justin Palmieri. Earlier in the day, Arslanbek Makhmudov revived his career by defeating Dave Allen in an action fight in the U.K. We also talked about Bilal Fawaz defeating Junaid Bostan in their rematch. Plus, we discuss Josh Padley's win over Reece Bellotti. A brief conversation about Red Owl Boxing's very fun card, but also a very late card on Friday Night. Friday we have a solid domestic British card promoted by Matchroom Boxing. The main event is a crossroads middleweight bout between Kieron Conway vs. George Liddard, which will show the trajectory of Liddard's potential. Other notables featured on this card are  Jimmy Sains,  Leli Buttigieg, and Taylor Bevan. A fight I think could be good is Shannon Ryan versus Chloe Watson, which is an evenly matched bout. On Saturday, Danny Garcia will fight for the final time in his career against Daniel Gonzalez. The bout will take place on Millions.co. Supporting bouts are Nahir Albright taking on former champion Richard Commey, Damian Knyba facing Philly veteran Joey Dawejko, the return of Chris Colbert, and possilby the most interesting fight on the card Gabriel Rosado vs. Vaughn Alexander.Saturday on DAZN in Texas, WBC junior flyweight champion Lourdes Juarez will face women's boxing modern legend Yesica Nery Plata in the main event. The co-feature will see a crossroads battle between local favorite Omar Juarez and Omar Rosario. Both were viewed as prospects. Now they both have two losses. Unified women's middleweight Desley Robinson will face Logan Holler, and former titleholder Shurretta Metcalf will face undefeated Krystal Rosado, who is managed by Amanda Serrano. In Long Beach, one of my favorite prospects in boxing, Albert Gonzalez, will face veteran Leonardo Baez in the main event. Timestamps0:00 Jaron Ennis-Uisma Lima9:41 Guido Vianello15:25 Sebastian Fundora-Keith Thurman19:16 Golovkin, a Hall-of-Fame24:40 Matchroom undercard32:33 Arslanbek Makhmudov-Dave Allen38:31 U.K. undercard40:50 Kieron Conway-George Liddard47:30 Danny Garcia53:00 Diego Pacheco's return52:45 MVP card on Saturday

Dave Allen's spirited effort just wasn't enough to overcome the power and precision of Arslanbek Makhmudov. Despite coming off a huge knockout win over Johnny Fisher back in May, Allen fell short on the scorecards, with all three judges giving the fight to the Russian, even after Makhmudov had two points deducted for holding. Where does Dave go now, and is this down in the hole Matchroom are now?

Rives and insider Dan Rafael are back aboard to go over it all. They start with the preview of Saturday's Matchroom Boxing/DAZN card in PhiladelphiaJaron “Boots” Ennis vs. Uisma Lima, 12 rounds, for vacant WBA interim junior middleweight title. Anything of note here? Next, a preview of the Saturday Matchroom Boxing/DAZN main event in Sheffield, EnglandDavid Allen vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov, 12 rounds, heavyweight main event. So, stay tuned. Then, the News:Arturo Gatti Jr., the 17 year old son of the legend and rising amateur fighter, allegedly commits suicide in Mexico this week. However, there should be questions asked, as his mother and Gatti Sr.'s widow is involved again just like the death investigation into the father's death in Brazil 16 years ago that is still shrouded in controversy.
