Saturday night saw Eddie Hearn and Dana White go head-to-head, even though miles apart, when they both staged TV shows on UK soil.White likely won that battle, as Chris Billam-Smith and Ryan Rozicki turned their Zuffa colours red with a violent and bloody slugfest. White wasn't done there, however. At the post-fight press conference he questioned Hearn's true influence in world boxing as he claimed to know more about Joshua-Fury than the Matchroom boss. Hearn, in response, took aim at the UFC model that made White's name. Before that, Hearn secured a fitting venue, Croke Park, for the great Katie Taylor but is Flora Pili a fitting rival? We look ahead to ‘Bam' Rodriguez in the hope victory leads to a mouthwatering showdown with Naoya Inoue. And, in This Week, dust off your disco balls and join us in 1985 where Pinklon Thomas and Mike Weaver unleash a forgotten thriller at heavyweight.Hit subscribe, show your support, and spread the good word of The Opening Bell. Sports investment is shifting—and the latest moves from DAZN, Disney, Bruin Capital and the NFL show exactly where the smart money is going. As media rights markets evolve, investors are increasingly targeting platforms, IP ownership and the infrastructure powering the industry. From Matchroom's billion-pound valuation to DAZN's ViewLift play and the NFL's streaming experiments, the landscape is changing fast. The question is no longer who owns the rights—but who controls the ecosystem around them. Key Points:Are DAZN, Bruin Capital and Disney signalling a shift away from traditional media rights as the core investment in sport? What makes “picks and shovels” businesses like Matchroom and ViewLift so attractive to investors right now?Is owning sports IP and platforms more valuable than owning the rights themselves? What are Netflix, YouTube and the NFL really testing with these smaller, strategic deals?Could local media rights and ecosystem control become the most undervalued assets in sport?

Emily Frazer is the CEO of Matchroom Multi-Sport, and trying to do with 9 ball pool what her bosses did with darts and snooker. In a candid conversation with Georgie, Emily shares what she has learned from working alongside Barry and Eddie Hearn, how Matchroom's Netflix series changed perceptions of the business and why character, storytelling and relentless standards matter if you want to build a sport that cuts through. She also tells brilliant behind-the-scenes stories about both Hearns. Emily describes Barry Hearn as a father figure, a motivator and a huge presence inside Matchroom, while also explaining the belief he showed in her as she took on major responsibility at a young age. She reflects too on Eddie Hearn's passion, composure and ability to handle pressure, including the moment he tuned in and saw the scale fandom that Matchroom had unlocked in Vietnam. There is also a standout Judd Trump tale, as Emily recalls convincing the snooker star to play in one of Matchroom's pool events after he joked that the sport would be easy. After getting a sharp lesson from a pool pro, Trump found himself snookered, exactly the kind of moment Emily believes helps change perceptions of the sport. The episode also covers:* how Emily has built Matchroom Multi-Sport from the “ugly sister” of the business into a serious growth area* why Barry Hearn's advice and backing have been so important* what Eddie Hearn has taught her about passion and leadership* how Netflix opened doors commercially* why Judd Trump's appearance mattered* the challenge of creating stars in modern sport* the long-term ambition for nine-ball pool and Matchroom Multi-SportThis is all about compelling sport, leadership, ambition, underdog energy and building something people once overlooked into something impossible to ignore.________________________________The Performance People podcast, in partnership with J.P. There's clearly a lot more to this Conor Benn and Matchroom relationship than we are being led to believe because Conor would've made good money with Matchroom, and so for him to leave and move to Zuffa, and essentially relocate his whole career to the United States tells us that maybe the garden wasn't as rosy as people made out. You never saw them being particularly close which is always a red flag. It's the same with Anthony Joshua so you feel like Conor Benn moving to Zuffa Boxing has left Match very exposed and very devoid of star power in the UK.

Barry Hearn joins Jake and Damian for a no-nonsense masterclass in ambition, resilience, and the mindset that turned a kid from a council estate into one of the most influential figures in global sport. The legendary Matchroom founder opens up about the work ethic shaped by his formidable mother, the chip on his shoulder that fuelled his rise, and the Christmas Eve moment in 1988 when he stood on the brink of bankruptcy, before one audacious deal changed everything.Across the conversation, Barry lays out his 10 Rules for Life: why “everything is a competition,” how sheer graft can make you look like a genius, why honesty is a superpower, and what it means to be “unbeatable” even when life dents you. He reflects on building empires in snooker, darts, and boxing, the importance of thinking poorly to stay sharp, and the role fire, fun, and relentless optimism have played in his seven decades of success. This is Barry Hearn in full force, funny, fierce, and fiercely honest, offering the timeless laws of success from a man who refuses to be beaten.
