He was indifferent to many of them (“No one is going to like you guys, but I'll have you back,” he told Joey Ramone), blissfully unaware of how important his scruffy little club would soon become. In the span of only 15 months, the five groups that comprise the CBGB's pantheon all debuted: Television in March 1974, followed by Ramones in August and Blondie in October, then Patti Smith in February 1975 and Talking Heads four months later. Those five groups all quickly got record deals and became popular enough to outgrow CBGB's. By the fall of 1977, Smith was the only one who was still playing there. What succeeded the Big Five was an array of new and retro styles, all of which feature here: No Wave (Sonic Youth, Mars, DNA, Bush Tetras), post-punk (Ritual Tension, Unknown Gender, Khmer Rouge), mutant funk and R&B (James Chance & The Contortions, Mink DeVille), art-rock bands (R.L. Crutchfield's Dark Day, The Revelons, Erasers, Jeff and Jane Hudson) hardcore punk (Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Vatican Commandos, Beastie Boys), and lots of power pop (Sorrows, The dBs, The Rudies, The Miamis, The Paley Brothers) . The club's best-known bands are present on this compilation but we've also revived interest in dozens of unfairly forgotten acts that, for a moment in time, made an album, EP, 45, or even a demo that crackled with innovation, wit, and joy. CBGB no longer exists, at least not in the physical plane, but what happened between those soot-filled, beer-stinking walls continues to reverberate around the world.

The stoning death of Stephen did more than remove a great saint from the world, it immediately ushered in the first great, violent wave of persecution against this young church. And Luke introduces us to this man named Saul, who he tells us is on a rampage to "ravage" the church. A violent scene commences, but something much bigger is going on, something supernatural, something radically kingdom oriented - God is fulfilling the promise that Jesus made prior to leaving earth.

The way the Yankees went out, on their own field, was embarrassing. The combination of Gerrit Cole not covering first, and Anthony Rizzo not hustling to first was horrendous. Cole was pitching so great. Rizzo gave a speech to the team the game before. Gio is defending Rizzo for fielding a ball that was spinning in a very odd way and he wanted to make sure he secured the ball. Your $36 million man can't even cover first base. Even after the disastrous fifth inning, they came back and took the lead. Walks and sac flies did them in after that. Boomer doesn't like players ‘butterflying through life'. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with John Sterling on the call as Aaron Judge dropped a fly ball in center. We then heard the Volpe throwing error in the same inning. We then heard from Sterling as Cole didn't cover first base on the Mookie Betts grounder. Then Freddie Freeman had a 2-run single. Then Hernandez hit a ball over Judge's head and the game was suddenly tied 5-5. After the game Aaron Boone said he was ‘heartbroken'. Judge talked about the drop after the game. Gerrit Cole was asked about not covering first. In the final segment of the hour, last night was a ‘never forget type night' for Yankees fans. Juan Soto was asked about free agency after the game and he said all 30 teams are options for him. Boomer said he should have realized it was right after a World Series loss. As much as you care about your team, you will never get that from most players on your team.
