After 88 wonderful episodes, Roger has (temporarily? permanently?) resigned from Good Fundies. Brian thanks the listeners, the guests, the guest tweeters and the writers for an incredible run; and contemplates whether Good Fundies will continue. And if so, in what form. Thank you to Jared Diamond, Marc Carig, Matthew Cerrone, Eno Sarris, Dan Szymborski, Peter Alonso, Ty Kelly, Kevin McGowan, Rick Peterson, Greg Prince, JT Teran, Sean O'Connor, Ursula from FBWG, Rich MacLeod, Jon Hurwitz, Tim Britton, Matt Ehalt and Abbey Mastracco. Special thanks to Jenna Jacobs, Victoria Edel, Tim Sestito, Christina Cola, John Edwards, Tim Ryder, Helen Silfin. Thank you to the listeners, without whom none of this was possible. And thank you to Roger, for all your hard work and your friendship. You are a treasure to the Mets community.
Former federal prosecutor Ty Kelly told WBAL News Now she doubts it is a coincidence that the two U.S. Attorneys who brought charges against Baltimore Police Comissioner Darryl De Sousa are the same ones who charged the Gun Trace Task Force.
After the boys of Good Fundies watched the Mets finish blowing a game against the Nationals (02:00), the two questioned whether such 'shocking' defeats were truly 'shocking' (03:00) Then they talked about Travis d'Arnaud's season-ending injury and what it means for the catching situation (08:00), Zack Wheeler's great start (19:00), and Matt Harvey's not so good at all start (21:10), before Brian updated us with the latest METCON reading (28:00) and the telling stats on how much Mickey Callaway is truly relying on the team bullpen (33:00). Then in the mailbag, the two figured out if Jay Bruce would be better as a catcher than Michael Conforto (41:00), when Jay Bruce should just go play first already and give Brandon Nimmo more playing time (44:30), how to enjoy being a Mets fan if it means crappy Mets fans get to be happy too (52:15), when Jose Reyes gets the boot for TJ Rivera or Ty Kelly or Gavin Cecchini (01:15:25), what friends call Noah Syndergaard (01:18:45), and if you’d be okay with a significant other cheating on you with a Met if it means three consecutive Mets pennants (01:19:15). It concluded with a congested Roger trying to channel Jack Buck calling the Bill Buckner play (01:21:10). If you’re a writer and have a baseball story idea, pitch us at goodfundies@gmail.com. The triumphant return of BRIAN ON THE STREET and the debut of THAT'S NOT WHAT WE MEANT headline the latest episode of GOOD FUNDIES. After the boys talked about friend of the pod Ty Kelly signing with the Mets (05:00) and congratulated Callie on getting her Citi Field prom pics (07:45), Brian and Roger gabbed about the return of Jose Reyes (10:30) and Jeff Wilpon trying and failing immensely to properly address the Mets' payroll issues (17:00) in their new segment THAT'S NOT WHAT WE MEANT! After the two wondered if a Director of High Performance will matter if the Wilpons continue to meddle in team medical affairs, as reported again over the weekend(36:00), they presented the 2018 edition of BRIAN ON THE STREET. Brian asked Mets trivia questions the only way him and Billy Eichner know how at the #QBC (01:04:00). One of the contestants was WOR's Pete McCarthy, and he was pretty good! Then in the mailbag segment, the boys mulled over whether the Mets will have a higher winning percentage than Trump or the Wilpons' approval rating (01:31:55), who will have the most saves in the bullpen this year (01:34:40), the Mets not signing Jacob deGrom to an extension (01:37:50), who they would take between Eduardo Nunez, Neil Walker, Todd Frazier, or Josh Harrison (01:42:25), if Brandon Nimmo should try the infield out (01:50:55), and if there's a collusion transpiring (01:54:50). Former Met Ty Kelly joined the Good Fundies boys! He talked about playing in the 2016 Wild Card Game (17:30), if he brings up how he got a hit off of Madison Bumgarner every single day (18:40), going vegan and if he still eats at Chipotle (20:10), growing up a Giants and A's and Braves fan because of 'Saved by the Bell'(24:40), the funniest Met besides himself (26:00), how to make friends in baseball (27:20), his excellent memory of opposing pitchers (30:40), the trouble with playing in Las Vegas (33:10), the superpowers and wondrous hair of Matt Reynolds (35:10), who has the best hair on the Mets (35:40), transitioning from Triple-A to the majors (37:05), the challenges of mostly playing on the bench (41:20), how he compares to Mike Trout (43:30), the dumb jock stereotype (49:40), the one thing he would change if he were the commissioner (51:00), if the balls are juiced (54:50), challenges (56:00), and how one organization did spring training much better than anybody else (57:35). Before that convo, Roger and Brian talked about Carlos Beltran (05:20). After that convo, they determined who the worst player the Mets could get in free agency (01:06:40), Todd Frazier (01:11:20), Sandy Alderson's talk about Dominic Smith (01:13:10),
Steve Hofstetter welcomes San Francisco Giants catcher Matt Pare & Former New York Mets infielder (and current free agent) Ty Kelly to talk about their sketch comedy channel Homeless Minor Leaguer, Flat Earth, Babe Ruth's addiction to bath salts, and that hecklers aren't just at the comedy club.

Ty Kelly's go-ahead RBI single capped off a Phillies come-from-behind win in which they scored three runs in the top of the 9th. Kelly talks about his clutch hit following the game.
Brian and Roger talked about whether or not Matt Harvey's iffy first spring training start should put Mets fans at DEFCON 2, how long the team's window is to win a championship, how happy Brian would be if Jay Bruce did well, the latest David Wright setback, Noah Syndergaard and Ty Kelly's different takes on the World Baseball Classic, if you would rather be Clayton Kershaw today or go back in time and write every Beatles song before The Beatles, Tim Tebow, Tebow some more, what the Binghamton Rumble Ponies should name their new mascot, what Brian should say to Keith Hernandez if he ever gets 10 seconds with him, and more if you could believe it. Also, warning: the boys curse now. You can submit a name idea for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies' new mascot at http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20170304&content_id=217947772&vkey=news_t505&fext=.jsp&sid=milb
Brian and Roger said goodbye to Adam Rubin and Ty Kelly and discussed the reunions of Jerry Blevins and Fernando Salas to the team, wondering if the two will bring the Mets to glory or nah. After Roger successfully proved in one important way how Jay Bruce is objectively better than Giancarlo Stanton, Brian broke down what the new ZiPS projections from Dan Szymborski say about the Mets chances in 2017. Then in the main event, Joe DeMayo of St. Lucie to Flushing battled Brian in the #StateoftheMets debate. The two argued over how well the Mets will do this season, if the payroll is big enough, what to expect from David Wright, if the Nationals are a threat to Mets' way of living, what to do with a problem like Jay Bruce, what one aspect of the franchise they would change if they could, and more if you could believe it. Then Brian and Roger chatted with DeMayo about Mets prospects of the past, including Dilson Herrera, because Brian has got to stay on brand, as well as Reese Havens and Fernando "F-Mart" Martinez, because the boys love to pander to the masses. In the mailbag, the "guys of Good Fundies" got their first ever voice memo. Listeners can send a voice memo or just an old fashioned email to goodfundies@gmail.com. It's free to do so.

This week on Good Fundies Brian and Roger discuss if Jeurys Familia's days are numbered as a Mets closer, if we truly know Ty Kelly, if Kelly Johnson or James Loney is our savior, if Gary and Ron were too mean about Jonathon Niese (nope), if this is the most devastating rash of injuries in Mets history, and if Matt Harvey is deserving of empathy.
