With DN postgame host Doug McKain in the house, the Blue Heaven boys are talking Rich Hill's injury and more thoughts on the Astros scandal (with some help from the Dodgers). Plus we go off on why you shouldn't believe everything you read during hot stove time, and some reasons we're thankful to be Dodger fans. On today's show: Rich Hill's Future A Positive Spin on the Astros Scandal MLB's Cold Stove Dodgers Headlines What are we Thankful For? With Rich Hill having undergone a major elbow operation, does that guide him back to the LA on the cheap, or should we let him ride off into the sunset? Having Doug McKain in the house with us, we had to get his take on the Astros scandal. Along the way, we hear from Ross Stripling and Joc Pederson and their takes on Houston. Plus a re-creation of Austin Barnes' new favorite knock-knock joke. In the MLB cold stove, Brook is REALLY unhappy with Travis d'Arnaud's new contract with Hotlanta, and Yasmani went and got paid as we wonder why Grandal was such a hated player with the Dodgers. With weak tweets and rumors popping up during the coldest point of the hot stove, Clint and Gary caution fans to read too much into everything they see. As we parse through headlines, Dodgers play by play man Joe Davis gave us great opening day news, but MLB commissioner is behind minor league news that gave everyone mixed feelings. Finally, everyone shares one thing they're thankful for as Dodgers fans ahead of Thanksgiving. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Tigers set their 40 man roster, and protected just about every likely suspect this week. We'd like to encourage them to sign Travis d'Arnaud or some other decent catcher please. The Astros punishments should be coming soon. It's going to be very interesting to see how a year of blunders and reprehensible conduct is dealt with by MLB. Finally, Commissioner Manfred sounds an awful lot like he's daring the players union to strike, and we're not thrilled with he and the owners right now. Learn more about your ad choices. Marc Topkin joins us to break down the Rays 96-win season that resulted in a 5-game series loss to the Astros but with only 3 free agents on the team the future looks good. On episode 15 of the MetsCast, co-hosts Nick Durst and John Brown discussed: The busy 2018 offseason for the New York Mets so far. Mets acquiring Edwin Diaz and Robinson Cano for Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, Jarred Kelenic, Justin Dunn and Gerson Bautista. Will Peter Alonso be on the Opening Day roster in 2019? Would it have been disastrous if the Mets traded Jeff McNeil? Will Brodie Van Wagenen be able to turn the Mets into contenders? Jacob deGrom won the CY Young, but should he have also won the MVP? Could the Mets actually sign Bryce Harper this offseason? What will the Opening Day Mets defense look like? Was it surprising that Wilmer Flores was non-tendered and Travis d'Arnaud was tendered a contract? Should the Mets sign Andrew Miller or Zach Britton?
After the boys of Good Fundies watched the Mets finish blowing a game against the Nationals (02:00), the two questioned whether such 'shocking' defeats were truly 'shocking' (03:00) Then they talked about Travis d'Arnaud's season-ending injury and what it means for the catching situation (08:00), Zack Wheeler's great start (19:00), and Matt Harvey's not so good at all start (21:10), before Brian updated us with the latest METCON reading (28:00) and the telling stats on how much Mickey Callaway is truly relying on the team bullpen (33:00). Then in the mailbag, the two figured out if Jay Bruce would be better as a catcher than Michael Conforto (41:00), when Jay Bruce should just go play first already and give Brandon Nimmo more playing time (44:30), how to enjoy being a Mets fan if it means crappy Mets fans get to be happy too (52:15), when Jose Reyes gets the boot for TJ Rivera or Ty Kelly or Gavin Cecchini (01:15:25), what friends call Noah Syndergaard (01:18:45), and if you’d be okay with a significant other cheating on you with a Met if it means three consecutive Mets pennants (01:19:15). It concluded with a congested Roger trying to channel Jack Buck calling the Bill Buckner play (01:21:10). If you’re a writer and have a baseball story idea, pitch us at goodfundies@gmail.com. On a very special and nice episode of Good Fundies, the boys just dove into the mailbag and never came up for air. After discussing if the fake baseball is exciting or not and the changes in Roger's life (some exciting, some boring), the Good Fundies guys answered listener questions about the first baseman situation with Dom Smith and Adrian Gonzalez (28:00), if the Met injury reports are overkill (31:00), what will happen if Matt Harvey has a good or great season (40:00), if Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are better than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Baby Ruth bars (51:45), how concerned they are on a METCON level regarding Steven Matz (01:02:00), if Gerson Bautista will make the roster (01:12:00), why Adam Lind wasn't signed (01:13:10), if it's more likely David Wright will hit 10 homers or Harvey wins 15 games or Mejia gets one save (01:17:15), if they like Travis d'Arnaud more than Kevin Plawecki (01:20:15), if the team is too cautious with Jacob deGrom (01:28:15), who they trust the most between Harvey/Lugo/Gsellman/Wheeler/Montero and Matz (01:32:20), and what they think the Mets payroll to revenue ratio is compared to the Yankees and the rest of baseball (01:38:30). The ineffable Dan Szymborski (Fangraphs, ESPN) returned for what was definitely the second time on the Good Fundies holiday special, officially making it a tradition. In the aftermath of Marc Carig's article wanting answers from ownership, and hearing from literally hundreds of frustrated Mets fans, Brian talked about the new fan movement designed to help bring about positive change to the franchise(11:15). Then Szymborski Claus talked about which Star Wars character's son he would be (43:00), the accents used on Game of Thrones and The Wire (44:15), poetic ZiPS comparisons like Dominic Smith and Adam Lind (51:00), the projections on the 2018 Mets starting rotation (55:25), the secret Michael Conforto career projections (01:05:00), the Anthony Swarzak signing's effect on the Mets' postseason odds (01:07:50), Jason Kipnis (01:11:40), which Game of Thrones character Mickey Callaway is (01:13:00), 2018 Jay Bruce predictions if he became a Met again (01:17:00), where the Mets will finish in the NL East (01:32:40), if Travis d'Arnaud or Kevin Plawecki can play better shortstop than Asdrubal Cabrera or Jose Reyes (01:37:25), which players were literally traded for food (01:38:45), and many other gifts. In the final mailbag of 2017, the boys of Good Fundies were asked which Met would buy the biggest Christmas tree and be the biggest grinch (01:52:36), how much Sandy Alderson is to blame (01:59:10), if the Yankees will win a title before the Mets win another playoff game (02:02:00), if they would rather be a GM, manager, or agent (02:20:20), and more. Then they gave some final words for 2017, and a reason for hope in 2018 (02:31:00) Thank you to everybody for listening this year. Happy Holidays, and Good Fundies to you and your loved ones.
Travis d'Arnaud finished with three RBIs and Dominic Smith belted a three-run pinch-hit homer during the Mets' 7-1 win.
Travis d'Arnaud smacked a solo homer in the 2nd and a game-tying three-run shot in the 5th, leading the Mets to a 7-6 win over the Nationals. Mets manager Terry Collins discusses the win. Travis d'Arnaud talks about his two-homer night and Jeurys Familia speaks about picking up his fourth save.
Jose Reyes and Travis d'Arnaud homered, but the Mets fell in 10 after the bullpen couldn't hold the lead.
Dominic Smith and Travis d'Arnaud hit back-to-back homers, but Seth Lugo allowed eight runs in three-plus innings as the Cubs defeated the Mets, 14-6.
Asdrubal Cabrera, Travis d'Arnaud and Brandon Nimmo colletively drove in five of the Mets' six runs to propel them to a rain-shortened 6-3 victory.
Roger said goodbye to Neil Walker (01:30) and Brian was forced to be nice and bid adieu to Jay Bruce (05:30), whom he does not hate personally. The two then dissected the Mets trades made in the past week (13:00), and if it's generally okay to trade with the Yankees or the Nationals (23:00). After that they put Dominic Smith through the infamous 'Soup or Savior' test (35:40) wondered why Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez kept saying Brian's name over and over again on Sunday's Mets broadcast after they read his question on the air (53:00), and if they listen to the podcast (58:35). In the mailbag the boys answered questions about Travis d'Arnaud (01:10:00), Neil Walker (01:17:40), Amed Rosario (01:21:00), Ike Davis (01:22:30), Brandon Nimmo (01:26:04), Juan Lagares (01:29:30), Lorenzo Cain (01:33:50), Wilmer Flores and TJ Rivera (01:39:20), and Hansel Robles (01:47:40)
In Episode 61 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett discuss seltzer preferences, recap Citi Field Day, debate if the Mets will be playing meaningful games in September, and make the case for Travis d'Arnaud. In the second half of the show we talk about the midseason Mets prospect list (while ending up talking about Phillies prospects again somehow), examine the short season roster, and talk about Jeffrey's recent Binghamton look. In the third half of the show, we really did answer your correspondence and talk to Brady about G1, but then something happened...

Brian and Roger talked about all that went down the last few weeks in Port St. Lucie, including such storylines as 'Steven Matz: Shark Hunter', 'Just Kidding About that Extension: The Neil Walker Story', 'Continue Praying For David Wright", and "Zack Wheeler: Not a Ghost?' Then Brian finally got around to talking about his Hardball Times article about which inflated numbers put up by the Las Vegas 51s to look for when determining who the next Michael Confortos are and who will become the next...well, they say you shouldn't speak ill of those who recently went from hitting clean-up to playing in Japan... The esteemed Marc Carig of Newsday chatted with the guys of Good Fundies. He talked about the atmosphere right now down in Mets camp, the value of team chemistry, why the club is sticking with Travis d'Arnaud over signing Matt Wieters, and what Sandy Alderson meant when he said the Mets are "all in." He also spoke of baseball and its soul. In the mail segment, Brian got into an argument with a small child over whether or not he is the beloved 'SNL' character Debbie Downer. Then finally came the debut of a new segment from Mike, the Good Fundies Bronx correspondent. He gave the guys a glimpse into the mind of a fan of that other professional baseball team based in New York. (Relax, it was only for 60 seconds.) You can read Brian's article here: http://www.hardballtimes.com/38560-2/ Remember you can send an email or voice memo whenever your heart desires to goodfundies@gmail.com.
Marc Carig of Newsday joins D.J. to discuss the health of the Mets' rotation, Michael Conforto being the odd man out in the outfield, David Wright's health, the chances of a rebound for Travis d'Arnaud, and much more.
Brian tired himself out after venting his continuing frustration at the lack of activity by the Mets front office, Matt Harvey declining to unblock him on Twitter despite extreme awareness, declaring we are all currently living in the darkest timeline, and from sending Roger to the therapist's office to admit he's frustrated at the Mets as well. (Yes, Jay Bruce was involved.) Fortunately, Brian had a lot of positive energy hosting a game show a few days earlier testing Mets fans' knowledge of their favorite baseball team, romance novels, and serial killers at the Queens Baseball Convention. In an even more fortuitous stroke of luck, the flattering facsimile of 'Billy on the Street' was recorded and presented on this episode. J.T. Teran and Michelle Ioannou of Rising Apple, Matthew Cerrone of MetsBlog, and members of the the Citi Field Sheas and The 7 Line Army were among the fun contestants. The two also went into the mailbag and answered listeners' questions and concerns, like if the team's new 'catching guru' can cure Travis d'Arnaud, if the fans and media will enjoy another spring training car and pony show from Yoenis Cespedes, and if David Wright will start more games than Michael Conforto. Feel free to email or leave a voice memo at goodfundies@gmail.com to take part in that in the future.
The Mets are hoping Travis d'Arnaud can bounce back from a disappointing 2016 season. Mets reporter Anthony DiComo and MLB.com's Tim McMaster discuss d'Arnaud's importance to the team and why Rene Rivera is ready to step up if needed to be the starter at catcher.
Mike Silva discusses all the details of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement and its impact on the league with Maury Brown of Forbes. Tim Donnor of Metsmerized Online joins Mike to preview the Winter Meetings. They react to the signing of Yoenis Cespedes and look towards how Sandy Alderson can round out the roster. Should the Mets trade both Bruce and Granderson? Will they surprise everyone and make a play for a catcher to replace Travis d'Arnaud? What relievers should they be interested in? Hear their thoughts about what we would like to see happen at the 2016 Winter Meetings in Maryland.
Talkin' Mets returns to the airwaves as Mike Silva kicks off the offseason with a Hot Stove state-of-the-union. Hear how Mike thinks the Mets can learn from the Cubs championship season, how Sandy Alderson can take lessons from Steve Phillips 1998 negotiations with Mike Piazza when it comes to Yoenis Cespedis and what free agents are intriguing. Mike rounds up the show with the mailbag, answering questions about the future of Wilmer Flores, whether Dexter Fowler is the answer in free agency and whether it's time to move on from Travis d'Arnaud.
The Mets head into the final week with games against second-division clubs. The problem is the Phillies and Marlins both have different agendas that could derail the Mets quest for the Wild Card. The Marlins can easily use the tragic death of Jose Fernandez to play their best baseball of the season. The Phillies certainly don't want to see the Mets celebrate on their field. Joe Trezza of MLB.com joins the show and talks about why he thinks September baseball is fun, despite the critics of the 40-man roster specialization. He gives some insight into Travis d'Arnaud's struggles and why Rene Rivera might be a better option behind the plate. Finally, he predicts where the Mets will be in a week and whether we can expect another home game at Citi Field.
Roger eulogized the late Jacob 'deGrominator' deGrom before he cursed the day the Warthen Slider was invented. Brian got into Jay Bruce's troubles and if he would shoot him out of a cannon before the also struggling Travis d'Arnaud. The two discussed if Lucas Duda should get some more playing time in these final days before a listener asked why they pick on James Loney so darn much. The two talked proper Mets booing etiquette, and they dipped into a particularly anti-Terry Collins mailbag. There's a John Olerud reference. P.S. The Braves are jerks.
We return with regular programming, which means a two-plus-hour podcast with too much pro wrestling talk. In the first half of the show we chat about when and if to shut down Syndergaard and Matz, if Travis d'Arnaud is now underrated again, and what the Mets should do this offseason with Neil Walker. In the second half, Mike Vorkunov of BP Mets and everywhere else on the interent joins us to break down exactly where the 2016 Mets season went wrong. And in the third half of the show, we chat about Mets prospects Ali Sanchez and Luis Carpio (and eventually, inevitably, Dominic Smith) and then wrap up the show with about forty minutes on NXT Takeover II and the general future direction of the WWE. Like we said, back to regular programming.
Mike Silva talks about Terry Collins rant and how he is the reason for the Mets inability to grind out at-bats and play through the challenges of the season. Mike believes this road trip will put an end to any talk about the Mets making the playoffs. He also discusses his concerns about Travis d'Arnaud and whether he is headed down the same path as another failed top prospect, Ike Davis. Noah Wolfe of Metsmerized Online joins Mike live from MCU Park in Brooklyn to give his report on top prospects Justin Dunn, Thomas Szapucki, Peter Alonso and Desmond Lindsay.

MLB.com's Matthew Leach and Mets reporter Anthony DiComo discuss where Reyes is going to fit in, what kind of ballplayer the club is getting and spotlight Travis d'Arnaud's ability to play on both sides of the ball.
Saturday is usually the day Jeffrey and Jarrett make their notes for the show. Instead, they recorded in a hotel room in Bethlehem, PA between games in a split International League doubleheader. On the plus side, this is the shortest episode yet, on the minus side, it is still as disorganized and bogged down in pro wrestling talk as usual. In the first half of the show we discuss Noah Syndergaard's continued maturation into an ace generally, and his usage in the Pirates game specifically. We then chat about Travis d'Arnaud's short term future with the Mets, and go in-depth on Jarrett's BP Mets article last week on Jacob deGrom. Next, the BP Mets big boss Bryan Grosnick joins the show to talk David Wright and potential future third basemen for the Metropolitans. Finally we wrap things up with two(!) lists (one David Wright, one pro wrestling), and kibitz about Triple-A baseball.

MLB.com's Matthew Leach and Mets reporter Anthony DiComo discuss whether or not it's a good thing for teams to live and die by home runs, explain what happened to d'Arnaud and who's been called up and how Jacob deGrom looked after coming back from injury and tending to his family.
In Episode 173 of Amazin' avenue Audio, Jeffrey and Greg don the tools of ignorance (no jokes please) and discuss the 2016 Mets backstops of note. Well first they banter about concerning Mets predictions and Yoenis Cespedes' future as a Top Gear presenter. But then it is definitely time to discuss if Travis d'Arnaud can stay healthy, if Kevin Plawecki will hit a bit more, and...well...uh...let's talk about Ali Sanchez I guess. Next we answer your e-mails on Dilson Herrera, forgotten not-a-prospect, what the Mets should do against southpaws, K/BB ratios, and solicitations for another drinking game. Finally, we wrap things up with a disappointing IFK Goteborg update. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In the "Steve Schreiber stole our opening question" edition, Jeffrey and Greg deal with some constructive feedback from the listeners with some constructive feedback for the Mets. More Jacob deGrom and Travis d'Arnaud, less Wilmer Flores at shortstop and bench at-bats for starters. Next we discuss the Dillon Gee DFA and Jeffrey's (last?!) trip to Binghamton. Then it is time for your e-mails on bourbon, the Mets first round pick, the low offensive environement, and (sigh) a potential Daniel Murphy extension. Finally, we wrap things up with Jeffrey grousing about the goings on in South Yorkshire. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
