Today in History: In about 41 CE, King Agrippa I began repairing and building up the walls of Jerusalem. This made the Jewish people glad. (The king's death is described in Acts 12:20–23, and his son and daughter are mentioned in Acts 25:13.) Purim Meshulash (Triple Purim): In rare years when “Shushan Purim” falls on Shabbat in Jerusalem, the holiday is celebrated over a period of three days in the Holy City. This week's portion is called “VaYak'hel” (He assembled). Vayak'heil & Pekudei are known for their seeming redundancy. Why does the Torah repeat so many details? There is a parallel to the Torah's 'Mishkan Series' in the Haftaros which discuss the construction of the first Beis HaMikdash. If we follow each stage of the series, we will identify three stages of the building process which can explain the Torah's strange attention to detail.

While Terumah begins the 'Mishkan Series' of the Torah, its Haftarah actually begins its own 'Mikdash Series.' This series will continue with the Haftaros of Vayak'heil and Pekudei. Why are there so many Mishkan Parshiyos? Why so much repetition? Might an answer be found in the Haftaros?

Rabbi Ken teaches from Parasha Reading for Vayak'hel: Exodus 35:1-38:20. In this week's Torah portion, after the episode with the Golden Calf, Moses returns to the work of the Lord by gathering resources to construct the Tabernacle. Moses asks the people to freely offer what they had if they were stirred by the Lord. The people were moved and showed true repentance over their previous idolatry by giving liberally to the work of the Lord. Moses then asks for skilled artisans and craftsmen to rise up and use their abilities for the next step in the plan of building the Tabernacle. The Lord calls Betzalel and Oholiav as leaders to oversee a team of able and talented workers to assist them in this endeavor. Each and every part and detail of the Tabernacle was important and sacred. God's holiness, attention to detail and order, creativity, and His greater plan of atonement, is clearly seen all throughout this Parashat. For believers indwelt by the Ruach Ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit), we are now the Temple of the Ruach! May the Lord stir us up to love and good works as we use our different talents and gifts for Him! May we be led and empowered by His Spirit to make His name great and point others to Him, not from compulsion but out of a heart of gratitude and love!
A few minutes of Mussar and inspiration on Parshas Vayak'heil and Parshas Shekalim.
In this weeks Torah Portion we learn an important lesson about using the special abilities and talents that G-d gave us What special talents do you have?
There are many activities (at least 39) that are prohibited on Shabbos. Why does Moshe Rabbeinu highlight the kindling of a fire?
Although the Jews were commanded just to make the tapestries from goats wool, some women that were talented to spin the wool while still on the goats back did so, because it produced a better tapestry, understanding that that's the reason Hashem blessed them with that talent. In addition they cut off the wool and made the tapestry as a cover before building the walls, so not to cause discomfort even to an animal. לקו״ש טז

When my friend told me she had to go for surgery next week and she was scared, I went into overdrive in organizing a circle to support her in healing. And the gifts of offerings started pouring in from those attendance: could I tell them stop, it's too much, like Moses did to the Israelites?

The Parasha (Story) of VaYak'hel, After the Sin of The Golden Calf, we need to know how to fix our broken lives. When we know how does the WHOLE feels like, we have the Free Will to fix it. This is the birth of FREE WILL as we should know it. Now! When the world is still in a dangerous place of uncertainty, it is time to reflect and look inside. This is the time to ask: Who is the person that I want to become and not: 'What are the things that I want to have? the places I want to travel, the deals I want to make'. This the time to stop our slavery to habits, belief systems and objects, the time to prepare ourselves to the freedom awaiting us in the 5780's.

Moses has descended once again from the mountain, face aglow, carrying the tablets with the restored covenant in his arms. God has forgiven the Children of Israel for their transgressions with the Golden Calf. They are finally ready to begin creating God’s dwelling place in the heart of their community.
The political/health/crisis around the world, the war between good and evil, who is fighting? Where does the real war take place? Who determines victory? Who rules the world? How to be successful in spite of all the obstacles people put on your way? What is the secret of true 'Free Will'? Corruption vs. Biblical Values, who's going to win the oldest game on earth? What is the secret of true victory? The Parasha (Story) of VaYak'hel-Pekudei, after the Sin of The Golden Calf, it is time to learn how to grow and build our lives in spite of the imperfections around us. This Shabbat is called Shabbat HaHodesh since it is the Shabbat before the New Moon of Nisan (Aries). In addition to the Torah Reading of VaYak'hel-Pekudei, there is a reading from Exodus 12 about the Passover, starting with the first blessing of the New Moon of Aries, two weeks before the exodus. Now! When the world is still in a dangerous place of uncertainty, it is time to reflect and look inside. This is the time to ask: Who is the person that I want to become and not: 'What are the things that I want to have? the places I want to travel, the deals I want to make'.
